The vintage formula i really admired. A rich vanilla warm and cosy with the strength of a bomb. I have bought reformulation but gone is the rich heavy vanilla bomb. Now it's a much weaker version and more freshness in it. Do i adore it? Not so much. So again i have to say goodbye to a very lovely perfume. Maybe i'm going to search for a vintage one when i finished this one. 🥴

synabst

Such a wonderful perfume. I'm a person who usus only citrus scents and too sensitive to different perfumes (up to vomiting, no jokes), but this one is a masterpiece. Happy to buy that.

debstarr

I like it but there‘s something off-putting in the scent that just kind of annoys me all day. As I‘m not experienced enough to make out what note this may be (the „woodsy notes“ are my number one suspect but it truly could be anything, especially since the notes are quite vague), this information probably isn‘t very valuable to anyone reading, however I would definitely recommend trying this before buying. This scent just doesn‘t feel round to me which makes it feel like an ill-fitting costume I wear all day and can‘t wait to get rid of in the evening, eventhough I do quite like the sweet vanilla and woodsy parts of this. It‘s weird, as a childhood friend of mine had this as one of her first big girl perfumes and I used to swoon over how great it smelled on her, as she did about my Sun Moon Stars; but now it just doesn‘t smell the same anymore! Now, who‘s changed: my nose or Casmir?!

Liene

I mostly get sandalwood supported by gourmand notes. There is nice 90s vanilla - not overly sweet, slightly woody and dry, beautifully mingling with coconut. Noticeable dose of slightly dusty amber, mouthwatering baked peach and some juicy mango. Light touch of geranium and bergamot to balance it all out.
Opulent, enveloping, delectable, inviting and comforting.

Amazing value, still relevant offering nowadays, more for colder weather daytime. Long lasting moderate projector. I would guess it can be strong projector with overspraying, however that is the way to lose some of its charm. Leans feminine, but not strictly so.

chrisaied

Blind buy, citrus flowers, such a gourmand, warm, and I think it’s good for late evenings! Not long lasting, but worth. I bought a 5 ml and now I know, it’s not enough

KimberMoon

I used to wear and love this on the daily in the early naughts. It was so comforting, kinda gourmand in that, I didn’t really wanna eat it, but it was mouthwatering. Such a round, sweet fragrance, peaches and incense. I would repurchase in a heartbeat if I knew it wasn’t overly reformulated over the years, but idk where to find it locally to test. Used to layer with B&BW Rice and Shea lotion and it was bomb.

Received it as a hand me down from my Grandma (RIP) ~10 years ago. It is warm, ambery, vanillic, and very comforting to me. It is a linear scent on my skin and has great projection/sillage. I don't get any of the fruit notes, but I also have an older bottle so the scent may have changed over time. I recently (finally) used it up. I plan to repurchase at some point, especially if I can find another vintage bottle.

UnearthlyApothecary

A little more complex than Vanilla Musk not as screechy and more refined than Vanilla Fields. I love the plasticky baby doll-head drugstore vanilla scents of my childhood in the 90s. There is more depth to Cashmir …I love the peach and the woodsy base. I have a vintage mini that I wear once in awhile it always reminds me of how much I love it and how badly I need to get a full size. It’s very strong and long lasting. I have no idea what current formula performance is or how it smells because I would never wear anything but vintage

mamsbens2008

not a blind buy at all! but such a unique scent!!

Im obssessed ! 😍

perfect for winter time or cold autumn days!

Romyy93

This is what I would expect the Stepford Wives to smell like.

Do with that what thou will.

(Personally, I'm obsessed)

Heartache

I smell cedar wood and it's overwhelming. Makes me feel a bit queasy. Drydown is a soft vanilla with cedar wood still hanging around. Not my cup of tea👎

sophiac0

I think it smells very similar, almost identical to Vanilla Musk Coty

pureangelgirl

i spray this every night before bed, it smells so nurturing and feminine and sweet, a little like syrup. i smell tons and tons of peach mainly, its super cute.

lilithroi

There should be no comparison to Ylang In Gold! This one just smells of sweet powdery plastic toys. A disappointment, since I was on the look for an amber fragrance. This does not hit the spot.

Ferra_Verto

A peachy and syrupy vanilla bomb, very oriental but not overwhelmingly so. I definitely get the reference to Vanilla Fields, but that one is a bit more floral to this one's fruity.
Perfect for cold weather, very snuggly and inviting. Lasts for ages on skin & clothes, but it's not a major projector. Have to lean in to get a nice whiff.

swedishmilk15

I'll be hunting for a vintage bargain; the recent formula lacks complexity. All I get is vanilla with a hint of florals resembling Vanilla Fields. I love Vanilla Fields, but was looking for that floriental vibe.

doya

Spices and smoke are most prominent on my skin. On clothes it changes somehow, maybe it gets a bit sweeter, but not always, I get the feeling it's different from time to time, or it's just my hormones and the time of the month. I also noticed that it smells different on different types of fabric. Or maybe it's just the weirdness of it that plays with my head.

Kellergirl

I must have received a bad bottle, because this smells like an old Avon fragrance from the 1970s. Awful.

roxhas123

This smells of nothing on me. Absolutely nothing. So disappointed :(

EDIT - so i have tried this again today, and i can now smell it! Its pleasant. i keep getting sniffs of something i don't like though, which i cant figure out, but i will keep trying as i'm glad at least i can smell it now!

EDIT 2 - the unpleasant smell is, BIC biro smell!! literally keep smelling BIC biro pen! so odd

darkgiu

This perfume is a must to have! It has everything in its favor, it is an explosion of fruit, an oriental base but not too much oriental, it's a bit vintage powdery so you need to like this type of fragrance, but it has really good persistency, the bottle is gorgeous and it's priceless! A great underrated scent!!! I love it.

Kendralenses

I’ve had this perfume for over a year now. A very successful blind buy. Sweet, powdery, fruity, vanilla goodness. Lasts a very long time. Great for cooler weather, could be overwhelming in the heat. Today I received Dulce Amalfi from Xerjoff and they are very similar to my nose. The opening is a bit different, the quince is very pronounced for the first 15/20 minutes with Dulce, but the dry down is very close to Casmir. In the dry down I get a lot of sweet powder from both. I love them.

Kitakafuteka

Tatlı şekerli bir koku, ölçülü kullanılmalı. Kalıcılığı ve silajı oldukça iyi. Soğuk havalarda kullanılmalı, sıcak havalarda boğucu olabilir

bebaaa

I just want to eat it!!! the perfect peachy, soapy vanilla. not offensively sweet, smells classy and warm :)

Dutchlikesclassics

In 1996 I already bought this once. A colleague said I smelled like vanilla waffles.

I really liked this EdP. It’s smooth, elegant and feels cozy. I don’t think it’s too sweet.

If she can tell me where I can get such tasty waffles, I’ll immediately go there to get some. :-)

SofijaSofii

This is one of the perfumes that I could wear everyday. Cashmir is warm and comforting. There's nothing about its notes that bothers me or sticks out weirdly. It's such a nice, smooth and elegant scent. It gives off a vintage diva's everyday scent. The notes that come forward are vanilla, peach, warm amber and smooth sandalwood. Overall it's a very beautiful, warm and sweet vanilla fragnance.

AvaMay

Again, another blind buy as I couldn’t smell it anywhere, but considering the price I thought it was worth it. I’m so glad I bought it! It is absolutely wonderful scent and I loved it from start!
I understand the name now, it’s like when you’re dressed in cashmere and feeling cozy and comforting - that’s the feeling Casmir brings to me.
It’s sweet, but not cloying, it’s rather a gourmand scent. At first spray I sense peaches and a bit of coconut verry well blended with vanilla. The overall smell is of fruits, maybe some white flowers, vanilla, some amber and sandalwood and even though fruits or flowers are not my usual “go for” type of blends in perfumes, Michel Almairac blended them absolutely stunning together, thus creating this gorgeous scent, feminine and luxurious, which I regret not having purchased earlier - I’m thinking about it for many, many years now. Just hope it won’t get discontinued, as many other glorious perfumes did. The price is literally insane given the beauty of this one.
Sillage is moderate to strong and longevity seems moderate. I will test it this week to see clearly and maybe edit later.
I will definitely purchase one for my mom and at least another backup for me because I really want to wear Casmir this autumn and winter.

mirrorghost

i've read about this a lot and am happily, finally getting to try it. i get mostly peach and vanilla here. it reminds me a lot of vanilla musk, more than vanilla fields. the former i love and the latter i can't wear at all. however, this has more peach and amber i think. really pretty 90s style vanilla.

qianqian

Got one for AUD 5 at a Chemist Warehouse, as they are selling samplers to raise fund for a charity.

Quite old school is the first impression. As the top fades, the soapy honey vanilla comes up. Not bad.

JenSmellsSOGood!

A more grown up Vanilla Fields, but with half the lasting power. Such a shame bc it's an absolutely beautiful vanilla. If it had staying power, it would be a favorite. I make sure to use w any of my favorite vanilla/caramel body butters and Sol Janeiro '71 to give it a boost.

LisaMCollins

This was my signature scent in college by in the 90s. I felt like an Arabian princess wrapped in a cloak of spiced peaches with vanilla. The scent isn't as strong in the newer bottles as it was back then, but if you overspray, the amazing peach vanilla accord will shine thru. Its like the a memory from a past life of opulence in a kings court.

Lola_Rene

I have worn this ever since it was launched. I have always loved it, and get many complements from coworkers and friends. It's a unique turn on vanilla, with a cozy spiciness. It's especially yummy when the weather cools down, and I don't think I ever wear it on hot days. This is such a wonderful fragrance for the price, and I think it is totally underrated. I can't believe Casmir doesn't get more mentions.

hwolfe7308

I have loved Casmir ever since it came out in the 90's. I get lots of Amber and Sandalwood, also Coconut and Peach. It is warm and comforting and lasts quite some time. The bottle is pretty, but I have difficulty spraying. Maybe my hands are too small? I will keep buying it.

mariaakanbi

So, even my Mum had to say, this is what the original boujie smells like.

It’s not the ‘works all the time and never leaves the office’ kind of boujie, it’s like Old Money… she might be broke but lives in a chateaux and only drinks milk that she grows/milks on her family farm/garden… and that’s if she’s not sipping champagne and *pretending* to be a hedonist.

She is cultured, understands heritage and lineage, watches a few black and white movies - but only to be a critical thinker, not to be deep.

She’s effortlessly dramatic, realising that standing out too much when you’re this sumptuous can become a security hazard… so she learns how to pretend that she’s small.

She could have a fortune, but know how to relate anyone or anything… but she’s never poor because she knows riches is more than just about finances…

I honestly am surprised with this too.

Been pairing it with Cabochard, just for the fun of it.

Lastly… I am honestly buying sooo many more. The first time I wish they sold parfum in 230+ml bottles

Oh and yeah, if you’re into fruity fresh florals, that’s like teenage girl coming of age stuff… this might depress you a little lol. You might remember you’re going to have to grow up one day.

Einfinken

I bought this after Fragonard discontinued my favorite perfume of all time, Miranda as I saw many comments saying Miranda is actually a dupe for this. It's undeniable the two are very similar, but Casmir is perhaps a richer and more complex scent than Miranda. I also think this leans warmer and spicier and the lack of ylang-ylang in Casmir makes it less of a year round staple and more of a fall/winter workhorse as a result.

I do love this scent though and despite it being launched in 1992, there is something timeless, elegant and comforting about this perfume. I think this is a perfume that can work with a woman in her 20s as well as it could work with a woman in her 50s or 60s. It's scent that is easy to wear in the cooler months and is appropriate in almost any situation. Now that I've discovered this, I will probably always have a bottle in my collection for fall/winter.

JackieShef

Oh dear...another blind buy, another disappointment. There's an underlying scent to this that I cannot place, except to say that its something along the lines of oil - as in engine oil, or something an artist would use. I waited for the dry down, I did, but it only evolved into fruity engine oil, before finally disappearing in less than 2 hours. No vanilla for me, but I do feel inspired to pick up my oil paints.

WhoKilledCockRobin?

This fragrance is tricky. In dump air of cold winter... it's terrible plastic smell.
In dry warm weather.. or at least in well heated office.... it's soothing optimistic vanilla with peach which smells like a perfume, not food.

I'm impressed. It's cozy, doesn't bring me nausea nor migrain, easy everyday scent.

Longevity is whole working day.

There's only one reason why I won't repurchase it... it's itching on my skin. Usually itching is mild, but still.... it's not good for long term usage.

08310831

Smokey vanilla combined with peach and woods. Lovely!

mariahum

This is my perfect perfume, and 100% my most successful blind buy to date. Anyone who complains about the plasticky or rubber smell has obviously decided to judge this perfume after about 2 seconds. It needs to dry down. It just needs to. Some perfumes do. And once it does, my my my, what a gorgeous, resiny, fruity amber. And the price!!! It's almost unbelievable.

vixen1995

I saw the reviews were all over the place for this, So I really wasn't sure what to expect. Burnt plastic, Dolls, Rubber, Fruity, Sugary? This is none of those things, It's a beautiful spicy, Animalic amber-vanilla scent. Other note lists (except for here) list Castoreum in the base, It's definitely noticeable, And very well done. Performance is decent, I have the newest formulation. Honestly, On MY skin, It is reminiscent of Initio's Absolute Aphrodisiac. Pleased with this blind buy! I now have 5 Fragrances from Chopard, And they're all great quality.

Romyy93

I have found my new signature scent!

After having covid in the beginning of this year, my sense of smell first went away, then came back but everything smelt weird or off.

Now everything is back to normal... Well, almost. I don't like most of my perfumes anymore. There's a note in a few of them that I pick up on - that I didn't before - that I very much DISLIKE. So I'll have to throw most of them out, I'll keep a few in hopes of liking them again. I also recently turned 30 and may or may not be in the beginning stages of menopause, so that could be a cause too. But so began my quest to find new ones that I love!

To the perfume store I went. Of course, I got doused in perfume and after a while I got so overwhelmed that I left the store, without a perfume. Now I have to admit that I often fall in love with perfumes on their dry down - so that means on the way home when I don't remember what's on my arm anymore.

And so of course, indeed I fell in love with one of the dry downs not knowing which one of the 25 I tried, it was. I thought it must be Just Cavalli! I almost ordered it, but something told me it wasn't the one. I went back the week after and sprayed both Casmir (just in case) and Just Cavalli, two that I was sure of that I tried earlier. And I went home.... And there it was again. That wonderful, vanilla-y, peachy, comforting dry down. It's SO good, it brings up so many memories of my happy childhood, I feel butterflies and comfort when I smell it. But it was Casmir that I sprayed there! A vintage perfume! That so many people say smells like grandma! That can't be, can it?
No it HAD to be!

However the weirdest thing was that Casmir smelt the way I was expecting Just Cavalli to smell (luxurious vanilla-y sweet and warm), and Just Cavalli smelt the way I was expecting Casmir to smell (harsh dry down, very linear, way to woodsy, very vintage in all the wrong ways). I found myself wondering if I accidentally switched them in my mind. But I took the gamble, and ordered Casmir as I was fairly certain that was really the one - also by the reviews on here.

So here it is on my lap, it just came in. I just fell in love all over again (on the third sniff). This, to me, is a hug in a bottle. Pure happiness, yummy desserts, butterflies in your stomach, mommy's old powder box that you secretly played with. All the good things really.

What a find in my quest to new favourites. If your still wondering on whether to try it, don't hesitate, buy it. This is out of this world - especially for that price.

Edit:
Small addition (jan 2024) because I see lots of people after me say that it smells soapy. It might be body chemistry, because I despise soapy perfumes and this one does not smell soapy on me at all.

This is one of the few perfumes where the dry-down smells so different than the initial spray on, that it could have been a different perfume. So don't judge it on first spray initially, and if you do like the first spray, wait a bit for the drydown (especially on fabric) to see if you like that too (although I can't imagine anyone not liking the drydown lol).

But I actually came here to say that the dry-down gives me a white chocolate vibe as well, making my mouth water whenever I get a whiff of it. Just because I haven't seen anyone else say that yet :)

It's quite comforting to know it's been around forever and it'll probably stay that way. I really hope it does, for now I'm not worried whenever mine runs out and I'll just buy a new one. So I can use it all the time. Quite a comforting thought for some reason.

Dorange Sense

This is the smell of old books that I was looking for since forever. Very subtle, luxurious and dry vanilla. Soothing like nothing else. No wonder this is an old time classic!

pamelalasalle110

I saw this flying saucer bottle for $12 at Burlington so decided why not. I brought it home, read the reviews, and ignored it a few days, because the reviews said it smelled like Vanilla Fields. It doesn't. It's not unique, but very nice. Safe it you don't overspray. Th vanilla isn't in your face. Instead it's a sweet accent on the floral/peachy fruitchouli juice. The amber and sandalwood play a sinaficant role. I think the geranium is a nice unexpected addition. I usually only see it in men's fragrances. I use this cuddling up with my hubby and some snacks while binging TV, he enjoys it. It projects well and lasts long. A great value.

Lauren387

Warm, amber, vanilla. Gourmand, slightly boozy. One of the few very sweet fragrances that I do not find cloying, though over spraying could make this obnoxiously garish. I have fond memories of picking up this gift set for my mom while shopping with my dad at the Hecht Company in Landover Mall. My mom gave me the miniature size bottle and it sat on my dresser for years. The bottle truly is a work of art. I wouldn't mind owning another bottle for the fall and for nostalgia's sake.

lmnsvgz

This is like a vanilla pudding with desserts. I almost smell banana in it. Its is lovely and feels modern, especially for a 30 year old perfume.

mothtoaflame___

I sampled this yesterday and really liked the drydown - it sticks with you for hours and hours (up to 12 hrs at least) which is a stunner at this price point. You can feel the effort put into this composition, as every accord is so balanced. I tend to struggle with peach forward scents which lean too powdery, for instance, I could never ever wear Tresor in my life, but possibly be able to pull Casmir off.

(Tested)

Skinscents4Fusspots

There is a musty, smoky smell in this that when added to the old fashioned patchouli and powderyness, smells like old plastic dolls. Not in a barbie way.... it's making me think of cabbage patch dolls even though I'm not sure if they really had a smell! Some sort of rubbery, hollow dolls anyway. It's sweet and fruity and there is a bit of vanilla but it's really strange! I can't abide Vanilla Fields and I don't believe this smells like that perfume.

Does it smell gourmand? sort of..... a jammy, out of date, bone-dry cake on a melting rubber plate. It's got its charms but in a realllly odd way! Very vintage and would definitely be an acquired taste. I need to try this again in cold weather but I suspect I won't get along with it. I like sniffing it, there's something Nostalgic about it even though I've certainly never smelt Casmir before, but I doubt I could wear it.

If you are looking for something that smells like a spicy cake covered in apricot jam and custard, try Lolita Land!

*Update!* I put this away in a cupboard until winter arrived and let it just sit. It now smells less plasticky and more vanillic and creamy! Really digging it tbh and oh…. It smells exactly like the opening of Ylang in Gold but dries down sweeter and nicer imho to that waaaaay more expensive perfume! It is also so similar to Avon Far away, but smells less synthetic than that one. Very glad I bought Casmir! It seems to be at it's best in very cold weather.

I find it kind of crazy that ylang isn't listed as it's own note because this is a ylang ylang bomb to my nose! It's the same ylang I get in Ylang in Gold, Avon Far Away, Body Shop Full Ylang and Mont Blanc Signature Absolu, but with a nice dose of jammy fruits and a ton of amber. I can see the comparison to Coty Vanilla Musk a bit - imagine a summer cologne edition of Casmir - but I could never stand Vanilla Fields due to the strong jasmine. That's not a problem in Casmir.

They don't smell the same but it definitely has a super similar vibe to Tocade by Rochas. That one smells like a rose and vanilla amber to me (with a hint of citrussy bergamot) and Casmir is a Ylang and vanilla amber (with peach jam that I get more of an apricot feel from!). I feel like you'd believe they were made in the same period of time and by the same house / perfumer but you wouldn't only need one of them, if you see what I mean :)

octobersun

Ylang In Gold does smell very similar, that really was my first thought when I tried it.
Casmir is my favourite fragrance for layering, if I want to add sweetness to another perfumes, and I often do.
But there is one important thing to know about this perfume, it MUST NOT be oversprayed, because in that case it becomes vulgar and even pathetic, instead nicely sweet and cosy as it is ment to be.

cmh9217

I received a mini of this today from a Seller that I bought another mini from (and who took FOREVER..a month…to actually send me my purchase). This mini was her apology in taking so long…and I gotta say…NOPE…don’t love it, it’s not even a like.

As another reviewer below said…I could imagine a mature woman over 50 might wear this scent….but lemme tell ya, speaking as a mature 53 year old woman..nuh uh. I had my Mom smell it and she liked it and I can see why. She used to wear Paloma Picasso and FlowerBomb so she leans towards spicier scents. She no longer wears perfume otherwise I would have gifted it to her. To her nose, this mini does not smell like it has turned at all.

If someone is hankering for a mini of this stuff, mine is up for trade.

muglerbarbie

There's something in this that smells like straight alcohol; its giving me tequila or vodka shots. I realized its the peach and coconut that's throwing me off. The drydown is cute but I don't know if I can stand the initial hooker smell?

n0b0dyn0se

Overripe peaches, at the brink of fermentation, drizzled with vanilla extract and arranged, along with a few fragrant flowers, into a baroque still life. This perfume possesses the resonance of a harpsichord tune and manages to tickle the nose like a feather boa.

lilylaurelin

I've worn this a few times now and I'm glad I had a sample and nothing more. On me it smells like a sickly musk.

Maymouna

I own both M.Micallef's Ylang and this, Casmir by Chopard.
I absolutely love both.
Once I run out of Ylang, I would be quite happy to carry on with Casmir!

Printeza7

This is amazing! So beautiful and warm, creamy, peachy, oh my I just adore it. It is light unfortunately, not lasting long enough but I don't care, it's up up on my favourites list!! Bravo !!!!

SmokeyLady

True sweet oriental. So good that it even inspired niche house. Performance is so bad,if it weren't this pretty and cheap I wouldn't buy it. I hear it was beast mode, for winter only. Bottle is sacred.

Nocciola23

I am so annoyed at myself for not getting a bigger bottle now that it's discontinued.
It's an older scent, but it's not mature or dated! It's gorgeous! Vanilla but slightly peachy.
Divine.

smfinch

I have a distinct memory of reading a magazine in the tub as a teenager the sample in an ad for Casmir. It was the first perfume I felt compelled to buy for a reason other than I thought the bottle was pretty or someone I knew wore the scent.
Cashless, I received the bottle for Christmas that year and wore it sporadically through college. I'm revisiting it now, twenty some years later and I love it. I have always been a vanilla/amber lover, and this to me, is a milkier, smokier version of Vanilla Fields, which has been in my usual rotation as a winter/spring daytime fragrance for thirty years. There's a tobacco or woody quality that cuts through the sweetness, and perhaps the carnation is contributing something "extra" here. I love it, and will reach for it along with Revlon's Fire and Ice, VS Vanilla Lace, and Vanilla Musk when on cold, damp days.

sakecat22

I've been wearing Casmir since 2000. Before I went full-blown perfumista, this scent was in regular rotation. I've had this bottle since 2009. Unfortunately, for any bottle I've owned, I've found that the fruit and flower notes turn very quickly (2-3 years) as the bottle ages. I have other bottles that managed to stay intact top to base for over 10 years. What I'm left with is a still-wearable, slightly shellac-y, spicy vanillic woody scent that is still distinctively Casmir. I occasionally get an anise-like note at the top. I often get black pepper in the accord. It's still a shape-shifter depending on the weather, surrounding scents, and that day's body chemistry. I'm still a fan, even if my bottle has seen better days.

dilflover560

Much more gourmand than expected. If you're blind buying this, this smells EXACTLY like warm vanilla sugar by bath and body works, but a little more powder which makes it smell like a slightly expensive version. The dry down is beautiful and the sillage is incredible the first hour. THE PROBLEM however is that it lasts for a couple hours on skin and about 4 hours on clothing. I sprayed about 10 sprays all over and it performed like an average perfume. So sad about the performance, this perfume is very graceful and a comforting type of sweet. Everybodys skin is different, and this full size runs for about $25-30. not bad to test out a very nice fragrance. Not worth it for me tho. Performance>scent itsself. and this had bad performance.

Catmo

Sweet powdery peach and vanilla with a vintage touch. Dry down is delicious. So glad I tried this!

Ylang-Ylang

My sister discovered this perfume last year and it smells great on her. I tried it a couple of times and liked wearing it, so she gave it to me for Christmas this year. I'm so very happy with this gift. Warm, sweet, juicy - it hugs me like a golden cloud without weighing me down or overwhelming me. Casmir -is- a strong scent compared to many more recent ones, but it's just beautiful. More in the tradition of past perfume highlights it does not at all feel dated to me. Although I have to admit I'm not really very in touch with that concept. To me something either smells good or it doesn't and personally I'm just glad of variety!

Peachy, powdery and creamy, warm, juicy, vanilla, sandalwood, some floral notes - is what I get. The opening is an explosion of apricots and peaches, mandarins. The powderiness increases with time on my skin, the vanilla and fruit finally get more balanced. Stays like that for a couple of hours. Compliment getter.

Edit: I wonder why the notes given on this page don't match the description above at all. There it says: "Top notes are peach, apricot, black currant and raspberry; middle notes are mandarin orange, carnation and cinnamon; base notes are vanilla, benzoin, tonka bean and opoponax." - most of which aren't even listed in the notes section.

Casmir reminded me instantly of Hanae Mori. It's like a spicier, more oriental version of Hanae Mori. It's beautiful but I guess I expected something entirely different. Casmir has a golden aura. It's warm, soft and balmy, almost lactonic. It's old school. What stands out to me is the formula of peach, sandalwood, vanilla and spices. Jasmine is very soft, offering a floral angle to an overall woodsy vanilla fragrance.

It is sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. It's like a warm hug your aunt gives you when you meet for Christmas. It smells mature and nostalgic in a good way.

Somehow I think it would be better with a contrasting citrussy note. The composition is a bit too agreeable for my taste, if that makes sense.

But overall Casmir is and smells like a classic, and is worth testing if you're into softer orientals heavy on vanilla and sandalwood, and you don't already own Hanae Mori.

leon7

This beautiful smell is like opening an old book and taking it all in. Just lovely!

Kendralenses

Delicious vanilla, peach, powdery with some incense and wood. Honestly so comforting. It doesn’t feel outdated or “vintage” to me. Honestly I’m not sure how a scent could even be classified this way. I suppose there are scent “trends” but either way, this is just a gorgeous warm, powdery, slightly spicy and rich fragrance. I will forever have it in my collection.

Bettybotox

Let me tell you a little story about my experience with Casmir. I was a bit late to the party with it as I only blind bought a small bottle just over a year ago. I absolutely hated it at first. It smelled so dated and as much as I tried to persevere, I ended up leaving it in one of my perfume drawers for months. I thought about it occasionally but not enough to care to reach for it again. In the meantime, I've become more familiar with vanilla and sandalwood heavy perfumes. I eventually garnered the courage to try Casmir again in the Fall when the weather began to bite. Low and behold I finally got Casmir and have grown to love it dearly. Whether this is down to my sense of smell maturing over the past year or whether my little bottle macerated beautifully in cold, dark storage I do not know, but what I have learned is not to be hasty in my instant dislike of any scent. I've learned to be patient and take the time to accustom myself to new notes and tastes. I think this experience has enriched my olfactory journey in many ways and I'm grateful for it. I will never rush my opinion on any fragrance again.
Casmir is a gorgeous sandalwood/vanilla scent, a somewhat dirty vanilla that I now find comforting and crave for. My only gripe is a small lack of performance (3 hours tops), but that is fully negated by the price (it's a steal) and the pretty bottle. I will buy another one after I use up what I have, and next time I'll buy more than 30ml. It's a little gem and although targeted towards females, I think men could easily get away with this beauty. Best worn in Fall/Winter, day or night.

Peaches&Cream

I decided to pair this with a vanilla scent since this perfume is strong on the vanilla. It has a vintage vanilla smell that I can’t describe so when layering with a vanilla note it hides the vintage smell and makes it smell better. It does last really long and it’s best to wear this in cooler temps as it will give you a headache in hot weather.

Deianera

I have an old bottle from half way the 1990s. It smells like a strong powerdy vanilla perfume with some sandelwood and something orangy & peachy in there, on me. I wore it a lot in my twenties, going out clubbing, it made me feel all mystique, sexy, oriental and like a candyshop. Like bellydancers, sensual dancing and seduction lol. Now it doesn't really suit me anymore and it's a bit too sweet, girly and gourmand for me in my 40s. Funny how you can grow out of certain fragances. I use it as a room spray now and when I'm in a nostagic mood at home. :-)

Svartravn

My newest old-school friend! I hope they are going to get along with my two other close friends Cabochard and Paradoxe, without any jealousy drama.
A nice and typically old-fashioned scent. After the fruity and vanilla-like top notes are gone, I sense a warm woody, incense character remain and it's - fortunately enough - not too spicy.

Not really intense, not that longevity I have gotten used to, but this is the very worst I could tell about Casmir.

AquaBaby5

I found an older formulation, used bottle. Opens up in a blast of artificial scent but it is actually pretty similar to Hanae Mori butterfly. I used to have HM EDP. Immediate drydown turns a bit more vintage, almost with a dusty quality. It’s a nice scent but I think I preferred Hanae Mori with strawberry instead of peach personally.

KateWest

While I strive to enjoy this perfume, I still find this a really difficult one to wear. In a similar way to D&G's The One, this smells somewhat barfy on me. I think this is truly the original gourmand fragrance, but it's waaaay too photorealistic. And the combination of indolic white florals and a bunch of fruity notes is a really, really bad idea. I'm left with the impression of a rotting, barfy peach cobbler.

panyadoll

I wanted so desperately to like this. This is the first perfume I have ever described as a “hate”. From reviews I was expecting more of a peachy gourmand. I don’t even know how to describe this smell. It isn’t even particularly sharp, but there is something subtle and unidentifiable in this that makes me physically nauseous. I was also expecting something more feminine with a light sweetness. This is a cough medicine sweetness and lacks feminine qualities. It was a scrubber for me, which is a shame because longevity and silage are excellent for the price. I have noticed that I do not care for 90’s fragrances, though I’ve yet to pinpoint what notes are so repulsive to me. Not a safe blind buy.

Catmo

I was worried I wouldn’t like this because of some reviews mentioning it smelling vintage. Which it does in the opening. But as it dries down that goes away and you just get a sweet vanilla peach dessert. Very yummy.

annreport1

What a divine perfume and how I wish I can get my hands on the vintage perfume. Nonetheless, I love this perfume so much that I bought 2 backup bottles.
The opening is a warm, vanilla, peach, jasmine and mostly stay this way throughout the day. However, every now and then I get a hint of sweet incense although it is not listed in the note. Or perhaps I'm confusing it with the coconut note, but this is the smell that I enjoy the most when I sniff on my wrist. Despite not lasting, I wouldn't mind spraying it again and again as I think is the only way I can enjoy this intoxicating smell. Spraying it on my scarf and it does last 4 to 5 hours.

dualaokto

In my perception, Casmir is built around vanilla and other creamy notes such as coconut, peach, and sandalwood, but these notes do not make Casmir a lactone nor a gourmand fragrance. It smells vintage, powdery, a lil sweet, warm and woody. The floral notes are there but not prominent while the mango is quite detectable in the mid phase. I vaguely detect a leathery note (more like a suede) and I somehow recall Organza due to its slight nutty aspect. I enjoy this fragrance so much especially in the colder and rainy days, but it works great too in hot daily tropic temperature.

perfume_angel

This is a delicious warm ambery based perfume. It smells like apricot jam with some spices added to it. It definitely has very holiday wintery vibes and I feel so cozy wearing it on a cold night.

Ps. I mix this with Kayali Vanilla 28 and OMG what a divine combination! If you have both please try it

_jenevieve_

I searched for, and found, a Lancaster made old bottle. At first it was easy to register the similarities between this and the drugstore classic Vanilla Fields. Then Casmir became **CASMIR**, a sweet ambery-vanillac nectar with cinnamon icing and a soft peach coconut center. Overspraying brings out an almost bready, or dough-like nuance that’s seriously enjoyable. With its holiday vibe, Casmir practically begs to be worn between a steaming hot turkey and your grumpy Uncle, keeping you content all the while.

Htheone

I think this must have been a beautiful perfume before reformulations. Sillage and longevity are weak to moderate. I should try a vintage bottle.

Coriemulvey

This brings back memories. This scent reminds me of vanilla fields… it smells like smoking cigarettes during off campus lunch in high school and it’s reminiscent of the album ‘In Utero’ by Nirvana… this smells more like the 90’s vanilla fields than the current vanilla fields and smelling this has me in disbelief that this was nearly 30 years ago. It brings back memories of real girls .. or a girl that carries her pot and metal bowl in her hobo bag.. and wears minimal make up and drives her dads old Chevy Cavalier.. I miss those girls.

Laoire

Received a dinky 30ml bottle of Casmir yesterday in the post, the bottle is absolutely gorgeous on my dressing table. The perfume itself is really nice with a warm spicy vanilla waft, so lovely for the autumn and winter months. This one needs a good number of sprays on skin and clothes for it to linger though. For a perfume launched in 1992 this does not smell dated!

bloodyheartofparadise

just recieved my bottle today after being on my wish list for many months and whilst it is a pleasant powdery peachy vanilla scent the performance is almost none existent to the point i'm over spraying like crazy and still barely smelling anything at all once the alcohol fumes have subsided. i definitely have the newer formulation from what i've seen people describe on here. this reminds me of joop's le bain just not as fresh in the opening and much weaker and that's saying something as le bain is hardly a powerhouse fragrance. it's nice if you like really weak edt type fragrances but i sadly can not recommend this to anyone. abit of a fail given how excited i was over the notes! never mind...

scented_thoughts

An elegant fragrance of peaches, cream, vanilla and jasmine!
Beautiful though simple transitions, well blended.

Top notes: juicy, fresh, ripe Peach (realistic, not overly sweet)
Heart notes: there is a juicy, candy-like Jasmine similar to Alien though not as aggressive
Base notes: Vanilla, slight Peach, dried Apricots

Lovely bottle, love the golden amber glass, very classy (though the cap doesn't fit snugly so you can't pick it up by the cap!), looks like a vintage piece which I love!

While many recommend winter, I find this works better for fall and spring as it's light - not as potent as something like Spicebomb or BR540 (even with 5 plus sprays)

Projection and Sillage: subtle, light, close to the body

Longevity: lasts several hours

ShimmeringTwilight

I have this and agree with the review that it's very similar to Avon Far Away with the initial first spray I find all Avon fragrances have a bit of an artificial note to them that make you think 'Avon' . Chopard Casmir isn't quite as sweet and dries down on my skin as a warmer not so shouty cousin. I love wearing it at the end of Summer .. when nights are drawing in but still warm enough not to wear a coat.

NoorbBelgium

It's cozy and comforting and also incredibly strange. It is heady, robust, and rich. It's neither hot nor bland in any way. It is neither flat nor sharp. There aren't any sharp edges. It's magic in a bottle, from the first spritz to the last drydown. The rich, exotic cuisine, the intricate hand-beaded silk sari, the saffron robes of the holy men, the chai wallas, the sweet houses, the crazy, upbeat beat of banghra, the painted elephants, the festival of light with floating, twinkling candles on the Ganges, the temples, the marigold garlands, and the henna on a new bride's hands are all captured in this fragrance. Classic fragrance!

MrsJackDaniels

Recently acquired this one as a bonus in a swap. It smells like a very fancy version of Vanilla Fields (which I had actually been looking around for!) and I am in love with it. Very pretty, very much like Vanilla Fields, but higher quality.

DariaFrancesca74

Elegant oriental-looking casket that contains the absolute and intriguing opulence of oriental essences, magically set between them; thanks to Michel Almairac The prestigious nose that gave life to this divine olfactory magic: Casmir by Chopard is a kaleidoscope of intoxicating vibrations, a sensory journey to the East that overwhelms and captivates. Olfactory path that embraces all categories: amber, balsamic, boisée, hesperidate, floral, musky, épices, talc, tropical, vanilla, an absolute triumph, typical of vintage structured perfumes with oriental reminiscences. Criticizing, demolishing and minimizing an iconic item like Chopard's Casmir for free means having no knowledge of the history of world perfumery. Intense sillage. Duration that is remembered. Marvelous.

fformoso88

I blind bought this because I have heard a lot of great things about this fragrance. I like it but it’s very powdery. Like I like powdery scents but this is almost straight up baby powder on me with some musk in the background. It’s fine, it’s nothing that groundbreaking and I like vintage scents but this one does smell a little dated to me. Maybe it will grow on me into a love right now it’s just a like. Maybe I’ll give it another go in the winter when it’s not 100 degrees outside in Florida lol.

Edit: it’s grown on me I do like it now it’s a pleasant warm, spicy, vanilla fragrance has a middle eastern vibe to it too.

Elisabeth_93

I love this fragrance! This is my “cold weather with a sweater on the couch” scent. It reminds me so much of the Purol balm in a little tin (I don’t know if that’s a European thing only). It’s just such a lovely warm scent for the cold months. I don’t usually wear it outside the house though.

Vellocet

I usually turn my head when I see a perfume with a gazillion notes. But I bought it on sale and it is very well blended. Boozy peach and vanilla. It’s a bit outdated though and I never wear it outside my home because it is a bit too much. Definitely not a summer scent, more suitable for colder weather

Zethre

Photorealistic peaches, with vanilla cream and subtle spices and amber beneath. Very pretty

Sanrio

I got it because I thought it would be like a peach instead of strawberry Hanae Mori. I kinda get the plasticy sandalwood note from Hanae Mori in Casmir, but that's where the similarities end.

This is a smoldering, slightly spicy, slightly peachy, slightly vanillic CEDAR WOOD. How is no one else getting this? It's so deliciously woody, very calming, almost meditative. I am really enjoying it!

On fabric it gets a little more peachy. Just don't buy this thinking you're going to get a girly fruity vanilla frag like Hanae Mori.

Missysux

I've had a bottle of this since I started wearing perfume at around 12 years old. It's an easy grab for me. I will say I go through a bottle much faster now though, but that's because my 12 yr old has decided this is her signature scent, and so sprays her clothes, her jacket, her neck, her arms & sometimes a bit in her hairi every morning before school. She's the best smelling 6th grader at Hidson Arts and Science lol

Stoicchild

I don't view this as a mature scent but more of a vintage classic. People often confuse vintage as "mature". It's lighter and more feminine version of Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford which makes this one seductive. It's lighter and feminine due to all the fruit notes added. I like this one better. Tobacco Vanille is too licorish for my taste. I would enjoy wearing this during winter nights, maybe on an expensive date. It projects very well.

x.rina.x

I have a vintage cashmire, and i really love it. ( maybe a bit mature) but lovely. Amber-vanilla dominant, which is very warm, bright-golden, festive ,truly balsamic , deep and smoky. to be honest i don't smell out the floral notes, just this smoky extraordinary amber-vanilla scent sprinkled up with soft peach & sparking citrus and some warm spice. It's a classic for winter.

ChristyFirefly

OK, I wanted it because in "Sherlock" by BBC it was on Irene Adler's vanity. So what? I love it!
It adds to my confidence. Casmir is an enveloping warm and not cloying vanilla, magical creamy peaches and mysterious cinnamon. I feel soft and fatale at the same time. This is an insanely cozy fragrance that my boyfriend really liked.
+ 1 in my piggy bank of sexy fragrances
I imagine the mv "Veni, Vidi, Vici" by Highland. It is an absolutely luxurious fragrance. Golden.

tecfield

Very vanillic ambery. It's syruppy jammy and if you are into this, it's quite nice. For the money it's really good. I would say this is targeted more towards middle age women. The name cashmere really suits this -- the first thing pops in my mind is cashmere:)

Foxxtrot44

Very disappointed after such high hopes. I can usually pick out the many notes from complex perfumes as they evolve but from this I only receive peach and vanilla and find it very flat and sickly. If the reformulation stories are true that is such a shame. Experiencing this has made me extremely wary of peach top notes! Surprised how low quality the glass from which bottle made, it seems to have 0 crystal content and no better than jelly jar quality. So sad. Left wondering if I have inadvertently purchased a fake product.

DT953

Nah nah nah wait just a gosh darned minute. Where has this been my whole life? I tried Wish and it wasn't for me so I guess I just, stupidly, counted Chopard as "not for me". If I knew about this fragrance when I first started buying perfume... I don't know what any vintage smells like but the current version is a ok with me. This is an apricot, cinnamon and vanilla on me. So glad I tried it. May have to buy...

aynala216

Ugh! This is so good. It literally smells like expensive Perfumed butter. I know that sounds weird but there's a smooth, buttery vibe going on here that I've never smelled in a perfume. I bought this because of the comparison to ylang in gold (didn't wanna cough up the coin) and the fact that it was $10 on Mercari. The projection and sillage is above average and the smell is just delicious. Love it!

evazquez

This is nothing like the Casmir from the 90's.... It was warm, inviting, mysterious, evoked the desert and everything bright and infinite. This smells like nail polish remover. What a shame.

yeah__books

This smells indistinguishable to me from Ylang in Gold. Yes I have them both. Both two sweet for me - I got this one free and the other as a small sample.

I’ll probably wear occasionally spraying not much.

Furs&FrAGErence

Oh, I just love this. underrated imho. It’s so warm and gorgeous really. Oily and far more expensive than I would have thought. It’s something subtle enough that I would think to myself “she smells naturally nice” without even saying it to myself officially. Which is exactly what iv done when I smelt this on someone else. Not even knowing it was something they put on intentionally.
If I didn’t have so many fragrances that I love (Not listed on my profile, I’m a little lazy :0)) I would probably make this a signature.

Longevity is okay. I’m a little disappointed that I can’t detect it on my skin. It seems oily enough it’s probably just my nose. I would say for those who enjoy “dated” fragrances but not all your friends do, this would be safe wearing. I’m testing it for longevity in my hair to see if it’s just my chemistry.

ScentedPlaza

Ripe apricots...Mmm! Almost a honey vibe.. Very calming.
P.s. This was the first perfume I ever smelled - I was 5 years old and my mom bought this perfume set with the matching shower gel. My mom would let me play with it, I felt so special, like a princess...

Kuty22

OMG - another blind buy 🙈
Ah this one is on me(🤡 🐦),
I hyped this one based on the notes and the beautiful bottle
I'm not into vintage scents but so many fruits in the notes... I thought - For sure I'd like it?!
The scent itself just dethroned Chloé EDP as the least favorite 😖(from my collection).
Terrible, terrible
I have no idea how to categorize it
It's not even giving tropical vibes 😒
I need to figure out a way to layer this

Edit: I sprayed it on my wool sweater just to see how it performs, left it in the drawer for a week and it smells fantastic

Maybe I can only spray it on the clothes oh well 😩
The perfume on my skin is still blergh 😖

laperfumamor

This was an unsuccessful blind buy for me despite the appeal of Chopard’s listed notes. Sigh.

grapefruit352

This fragrance smells just like Indian shop where the sticks are burning! In case if this is what you like that smell then a safe blind buy!
All I feel here are Indian incense sticks..no vanilla, no fruits, no flowers! Spicy bomb like Estee Lauder Youth Dew, but at a cheaper price.

Kuty22

Well I really wanted to try it
Blind buy - the bottle just took me by surprise and I wanted
The scent?
- not my vibe, I can detect peach 🍑 and vanilla but I don't like it. There's hope for it as I know I can layer it
Edit: I can't bring myself to wear it, just 😐😬

herculano

I reviewed this several months ago.

I got both the (coty) reformulation and the vintage (Lancaster) original.

I like them both, and in some respects I like the new formulation better, except in the poor longevity department.

The original lasts longer and is deeper.

The new version (Coty) has far more BRIGHT intense sweet peach (almost overwhelming, in fact) which I actually love dearly… It’s phenomenal … almost neon, but sweet, not tart…

…however it doesn’t dry down as beautifully or gracefully as the old one.

So if I could take the new opening and put it over the old dry down it would be perfect.

I LOVE this fragrance. The only kind of oddball thing about it that may turn some people off, is that it does indeed smell a little bit like bandaids. And I wish it didn’t, however, for some reason I don’t even really care.

Let’s say… it’s got a bandaid “underbelly” to it.

Ha!

Whatever. It’s still spicy vanilla coconuts and fruit all mixed up together and for me it’s warm, comforting, classy, and addictive.

A little retro, but I love retro anyway, so that’s no problem for me at all.

Edit:

I got one more vintage bottle of this recently (so I now own one new bottle and two vintage bottles).
This recent vintage purchase is Lancaster like my other one, but I suspect it’s from the year it was released. The bottom has a red flower on the label. The bottle shows signs of age, and the juice has a green tint to it. I was worried it would be “off” but it’s not off at all.

This vintage has a distinct “nuttiness” to it that is not present in my other two bottles. Like roasted hazelnuts.

It’s wonderful. This one is more “gourmand” than the other versions I own.
Very interesting to pick up distinct differences in all three bottles.

Update: STILL loving this after recently trying a ton of new perfumes. Nothing lately wows me, except this beauty.

It’s so rich, warm, creamy, and exotic. I just can’t get enough of it.

Considering layering this with Ylang in summer.

AnlisaC

There has been a vanilla explosion on me! For some odd reason recently I’ve been in a nostalgic perfume mood and this was my choice of today. I really like this fragrance it brings back memories of living in LA and going out! I feel this gives a fruity ( hence the peach) vanilla vibe. I’m not hating this at all. I feel this can be worn nowadays even thou it has a nostalgic vibe. I love the fruity aspect of this it’s not girlie at all. I almost get incense vibes from this, it’s probably the base notes that make it smell like this. M. Micalfe Ylang in Gold is a dupe of this but that has a higher price tag. Longevity is pretty good and sillage is very nice, is it a beast mode fragrance no not at all. You can get this fragrance very inexpensively on discount sites. Recommended 8/10

miewtje

This smells like everybody's mother in the 90's.
This probably smells like sooki st james in gilmore girls.
This plausibly smells like monica's apartment in friends. This smells like everything that is good from the 90's. I just love wearing this to just be home in and to bed as i am a 90's child and nostalgic of nature. :) If you're like me, get it and enjoy🎉❤️ oh yeah it also smells realy good btw haha like abricot pie with a lot of yummie crust.

yunoh

This is actually nicer than I expected it to be! It's an oriental vanilla scent for sure. Peaches are really dominant also. It's okay so if you like vanilla you should try it. 7/10

ArianaS

I absolutely adore this fragrance. For the price is a gem. Smells like an apricots cake with burnt vanilla. I didn’t like in the beginning but after I started using more I felt inlove with it. Suitable for winter and fall.

vanilla.skies

the opening gives banana kiddy highlighter with a touch of spiciness gone awry and stale dampness. all the fruits basically combine with the vanilla and are very seamlessly blended together. about 5 minutes into spraying, a luxurious fruitiness starts to come out. this is my eighth time testing this and it's the first I've sprayed on something other than my skin. I sprayed it once on the edge of my bed and I am sat in the middle of the bed with my back turned- the fruitiness smells lovely. but when I attempt a closer sniff, the spicy & sharp notes repulse me 😅

Amarigemariagelove

I was excited about this perfume and thought I would like this, recommended based on the notes I like… but it’s surprised me. I like strong scents but find it overpowering, I do not really detect any of the top notes except maybe a little coconut. I smell liquorice?? And strong powdery old fashioned vanilla. Given me a headache which is rare for me from a perfume 😬.

I am forever looking for a scent which comes even close to discontinued amarige mariage for me, which is my absolute favourite. This was one recommended on notes - no not for me!!

Updated thoughts 5months on - my journey into trialling scents has developed a bit more since I wrote this. And I’ve found that I actually really enjoy the dry down of this perfume, I also like it on fabrics! It’s a cozy, comforting warm scent when on a pillowcase or jumper. I still struggle with it, straight up and in the first couple hours on my skin though and becomes headache inducing for me that way. But it certainly lasts and lingers and isn’t a ‘bad’ scent, I was looking to hard for something I wasn’t going to find initially, and trying to pick out notes, this has so many and is blended well, the ones I was looking for were not what I found, I am starting to enjoy scents in a different way now I’m learning more about them 🙂. I’m going to try this again in the winter with just a small amount layered over my favourite softer vanilla scent and see if I can tolerate it better then on my skin 🤞.

DJAdorbz

This was a letdown. When I read descriptions of "peach cobbler" and "apricot tart" - or comparisons to the original Vanilla Fields - I ordered a bottle immediately. I received an unopened tester box today (for only $20 on clearance!) and sprayed once on one arm. I never picked up on a lot of peach/apricot scent, though it was there. I caught florals and green notes and the older style of vanilla on which other reviewers have commented.

But the kicker is that after about 30 minutes? It had morphed from a Vanilla Fields-esque scent to something that genuinely smelled rancid on my skin. Luckily, it wasn't overwhelming in intensity or projection, but I tried to scrub it off as best I could.

If this works for your skin chemistry, I'm very happy for you. I can see why it would be a fun everyday scent in the cooler months. But it's a Loser from me!

Ticketgirl

This is a nice perfume, but not particularly memorable. I guess I would have to say it is well blended, because I don’t pick up much in the way of individual notes. It doesn’t last long on me, so I respray quite often. It won’t last long at this rate, and that’s fine. I can live without it and won’t buy a replacement.

Olfa

It’s mentally comforting somehow (bc it’s an old scent).
It is not as scary as it looks on here. All notes are combined and I’m not even sure all of them are in the fragrance. Amber, vanilla, benzoin, opoponax and musk is definitely there. All mixed so well and with other notes (reminds Lalibela a lot).

It’s somewhat baby smelling and also a subtle amber perfume mixed together. If you smelled and liked Lalibela, this is less harsh and sweet but still the essence is very much similar. i’d get this since this smells much cleaner.

LyubaG

I like it its not a first love bit i am getting there I smell mostly vanilla and warmth its really unique vanilla and spice far away is more vanilla and when you get close its spicy and dark 🤷♀️

BelladonnicHazeyJane

Stunning. I discovered this from a collection of vintage miniatures I was given for Christmas. This was a stand out straight away. Before new year I'd tracked down 2 bottles of the older 100ml bottles. I couldn't resist treating myself and got the two for under £40! It's become one of my top 5 perfumes already.

The first hit is powerful and although I don't get a massive fruity burst, I do detect the delicious tangy apricot though and a hint of bergamot. It quickly becomes a peachy, creamy scrumptiousness which makes me close my eyes and savour every time I take a sniff. It's fresh and warm, I've only been using it during the winter so far so I'm not sure if it's one for the summer but it seems like an autumn/winter scent to me so far. I've used it a couple of times in the day but mostly I've been spraying it before bed. It's gorgeous sinking under my duvet with this scent surrounding me and, waking up in the morning and instantly getting a waft of it still on my cover. Beautiful.
I'll be interested in trying the more modern version when I've eventually run out of the two I have.

woodshadows

This reminds me of Vanilla Fields but so much better. I get mango and banana at first and it can be a little much, and the banana isn't my favourite. However as it develops it warms significantly. I get the coconut, amber, vanilla. I'm a guy and this has become my favourite, though I'll admit to being influenced by my wife's reaction whenever I wear this, her enthusiasm towards me reaches a level never previously seen. I don't think I'd be comfortable wearing this out in public, I don't think I have the confidence to pull off wearing something with such softness and sweetness as a guy, but in the evening at home I love the way it makes me feel, and the aforementioned wife's carnal reaction to my wearing of it.

I find Casmir to be such a comforting, cozy scent. I chose the perfect day to wear this too - It's been snowing almost all day. My mom once owned Vanilla Fields, which is also great, and I definitely find this similar to it. I really love this though, and I am glad it's in my collection. The fruity blast when you first spray is a bit much....but the dry down! Warm vanilla and amber, with a hint of spice and peach. So good, and I imagine this will pair very well with a sweater.

okamikiera

This is a definite vintage, but without any of the usual notes that give away a perfume as being dated. Rather, it’s very dense with accords, and the result is powdery sweet: I get more fruit than vanilla, peach and hints of floral jasmine. It dries down slowly to more cinnamon and amber, though as an incense lover this sits so very far from what I associate with amber. I wanted to like this, as it’s quite the bargain, but it just smells busy, synthetic, and cloyingly sweet to me, like a Tom Ford.

TexasOrangeBlossom

I got a bottle from EBay, from a seller I have used before. I’m not sure what to make of my bottle. It seems legit, but isn’t what I expected. It’s not how I remember it when it came out in the 90’s. Label shows the current parent company: PFCH Luxe. I don’t smell cinnamon. It doesn’t smell spicy at all. I smell a vanilla musk overload! It definitely has a Vanilla Fields quality to it. I detect a chemical note some report. I do have a slight cold so my nose could be part of the issue. I don’t know. My husband likes it. I’ll have to let it sit a while and come back to it.

Gigiija

A very warm smell of the East. Feeling like sunbathed. Amber, vanilla wraps with long resilience. I don't use everyday, but only if I want something warm.

ElinfromtheMoon

Peach and vanilla are usually really good with my chemistry, so I expected this one to work for me. Well, it was much better than what I hoped for.

So warm, sexy and lovely, it became a favourite instantly. When I wear this, people are super kind and attracted to me, and I only had positive experiences with it.
My signature fragrance is the Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant, but lately I use this one more often, I just can't get enough of it

Poudery

I just bought this for myself as an early Christmas gift. I'm stoked to test it. I'm hoping it will be warm, comforting and delicious. <3

Edit: And it is! It reminds me of perfumes from another time and I absolutely love that. The first spritz is a bit overwhelming to me, with strong fruity and flowery notes. It doesn't smell bad at this stage, it's just very intensive. As it dries down, those notes settle comfortably into their vanilla and sandalwood, slighty musky and ambery base. I know, there's more, but these are what I perceive the most on my skin after an hour. To me the carnation is noticeable as sort of a soft finish, together with peachy notes.

It's an all together comforting, rich scent that I would wear on any cool day, maybe some summer nights, but mostly in autumn and winter, not because I'm looking for "perfect fits", but because I think this fragrance might be too much in hot, summery weather. I do appreciate perfumes that I have these specific "best uses" for, though, so that's not a disadvantage at all. Casmir is definitely special and that's just what I'm looking for in perfumes. I bought as a blind buy, but it's 100ml EdP for about 18 EUR - so that was a real bargain in any case!

bittersweetpoison

Finally pulled the trigger and got a 30ml bottle - I’ve been considering this one for years, but always changed my mind because I thought it would be one of those rash, vintage perfumes. Boy, was I wrong! This is such a warm, delightful, jammy scent! I absolutely adore it - from the cosy name, the pretty bottle and the warm scent, I like everything about it! Even the fact that it sits very close to the skin makes it feel like it’s my little secret!

I get tonka, amber, vanilla and jasmine mixed with apricot. It’s delicious! Will wear it all through December - such a beauty to have on while wearing a nice oversized soft nude sweater and cozying up with a cup of chai latte on the sofa…

Edit: purchased a large bottle too. That’s how much I like this!

Pantspockets

This is one of those “amber” perfumes that makes me gag. It just doesn’t land right for me. Never has, never will. Ugh. Sling it into the sun.

musicformer

I have two vintage Lancaster versions and I love that smell since the 90s, it's one of my favorite perfumes ever. I also use it and my girlfriend (28) likes it very much on me, too. I tried the current version last week in a store and it still has the vibe, but the vintage is smother, smells nicer overal and has a better performance, 3 sprays are enough. You can still get it for good prices!

HyacinthBucket

I wore this when it first came out. The new formulation is pretty close to the old one. The new one does not last anywhere near as long. Nor is it as strong. But that’s to be expected with mass market fragrances these days.

They’ve turned down the intoxicating vanilla, peach and resinous notes. But it is still very recognizable as Casmir. And it is still just as beautiful. Because of the changes I find I have to overspray and touch up during the day. Easily done with a purse size decant. And at $16 you can afford to spray away!

If you’re feeling experimental, try layering with a vanilla, amber or peach fragrance. You can get pretty close to the original this way. So experiment and have fun. You never know what fantastic concoctions you may come up with!

ul0

I used to wear this in the mid 90s and it was perfectly delicious. Spicy sweet dark, I never thought it was fruity. They change everything that’s perfect. I would love to have that original formula as well as Dior’s original dolce vita, from the same era. Similar core scents to me, but Dior is a little brighter and more astringent in a golden way. (not green, or white or blue if that makes sense)

Seldarius

I almost blind bought this - luckily I didn’t. After spritzing it on my wrist, I’m really not sure if I like it. It’s quite spicy in the opening and strong. Of the four I tested it definitely had the most staying power. The dry down brings out the creaminess and vanilla and softens the spices. It turns into a pleasant skin scent a few hours in and lingers as such.

kerrylovesgourmand

this smells like a rich old lady, idk how to put it differently. I accidentally got some on my finger while spraying it on a paper strip, the silliage was insane, very heavy and cloying though. I see why many enjoy it, but I'm probably just too young for this one.

Mc1995

This is gorgeous! I’m a sucker for vintage(apparently means 1995 and earlier) especially vintage fragrances marketed for women. After reading the mixed reviews on this I knew I needed to try it, the bottle is pretty too and it’s so inexpensive! Smells more expensive than the 16-20$ you’ll pay. If Tom Ford or another niche brand made this scent it’d be 100+ dollars. It’s very sweet but the spiciness and patchouli give it a definite unisex vibe especially in 2021(does lean feminine though) big coconut, peach, apricot, vanilla and benzoin. Don’t understand the hate, for the price it’s a beautiful fragrance. Maybe a bit too peachy body cream for some people however if it smells body cream it smells like a high end one!

VMonster

I read all about Casmir before buying, watched reviews etc. The reviews intrigued me, and I'm glad I took the plunge! I purchased a cute little 30 ml for under $20 US. At first sniff I'm reminded of Coty's Vanilla Fields, which I also own. Nostalgia bomb for sure--I get the 90s vibe this evokes, but this is classier and more gourmand whereas VF is more aromatic. Casmir is sweet and delicious, vintage in style but wonderfully executed. A little treasure bottle I look forward to spending time with during these cold, dark months to come. It's a unique gourmand. Nothing like the Viva La Juicy type scents. This one is different. This reminds me of a different time altogether, not even the 90s but perhaps the 1890s; a well-to-do woman would wear this. I'm reminded of rich taffetas and velvets in jewel tones, with an apricot tart baking in the oven. Casmir is warm, feminine, and elegant, but it almost transcends to another era. Perfect for someone who wants something different. If you enjoy gourmands and are curious about vintage fragrances, I would say give this one a try.

Zmnim

I agree with Reine_des_Neiges about the chemical note. This was a blind buy and, according to the notes, I was supposed to love it but I wound up giving to my neighbour on the same day I received it because it smelt like medicine on me!

Reine_des_Neiges

Does anyone know if this has been reformulated in the last couple of years? It's been a while since I've had a bottle and with this new one, I can definitely detect the scent I remember, but it has this weird chemical note from the opening lasting all throughout and longevity and sillage seem weaker too? I remember Casmir lasting all day and even being detectable the next day, but this one is all but gone in a few hours?

Violetgoblin

Incredible. I'd been anxiously waiting and anticipating having "that magic moment". The same I had with Petite Cherie in 99, Calyx back in 92, Trish 9 in 2000, Vanilla Lace in 95. The moment you bend your head down and...omg...this is it. You can't get enough. Your head swims in heaven.

Gorgeous, 90s is, vanilla woodsy, peachy, heaven. So so very nostalgic. I never owned this, but my good friend Susie had a large bottle of Vanilla Fields the year it came out...1994. I sprayed it all the time. I loved it...the original bottle with the etchings and more decorative top. This is similar, but better. Warm and ideal for November. A time machine. I see more bottles in my future. Oh how gratifying...coming across 'the scent"...something that happens once in a great while, especially now in days. So many 2021 vanillas are cake sweet, cookie like and I just want a vanilla that were popular when I was young n fun...not so much food, but a deeper, less sugary sweet vanilla. Like the very discontinued Vanilla Bean from BBW that was released in 1993.

PerfumeEmpress

@LSAUG, I agree with you 100%.

LSAUG

I was never going to own a bottle of this but I bought one online tonight. This is my cousin's signature scent, she always wears it and she always smells great. This is the only gourmand perfume that I have ever liked. But that isn't the reason I bought a bottle. I bought a bottle because I went fragrance sampling at Ulta today and I have been doing that for awhile now when I am out and about running errand. I spray the cards and mark them and bring them home so I can think about them and then I review them. I live 5 mins from the local Ulta so the fragrances don't have time to waste away on the card and I keep all the cards separated from each other. Anyway, the newer fragrances I have been smelling have no character, no depth, they also all smell so similar. I have bought many naturals, older classics and discontinued perfumes for my collection. I have not been impressed w/ a new designer perfume in the longest while. Older perfumes smells a million times better than the weak, watered down shower gel scents that these houses have been producing as of late and charging top $$$ for them as well. I got a tester bottle of this online for $16 and change. And it smells a million times better then Bon Bon, or any of the Candy line and they cost a fortune compared to Casmir. Why pay top $$$ and get weak and watered down? When you can spend next to nothing and get a fragrance that smells as good as Casmir?

frederica.bănuță

Vanilla and apricot (or peach). Deliciousness, great for Christmas or rainy days <3

Siaj is monstrous
Longevity is moderate
Price is very small for this. I think that this have class, but is sweet, that is hard to made, in generally. I imagine that this is how Jennifer Lopez smells when she leaves a yacht and gives autographs <3

Gemsense

Wow!!! This is what i was expecting Prada Candy to be! All the greats have already been made! This is it! This is the sweet floral candy ive been searching for! Its not in pink sugar, prada, or all the other horrible cotton candy concoctions that are so popular nowadays.
If the younger generations only knew... Best kept secret in modern day perfumerie-- only bad thing about that is we might end up losing them to discontinuation or jacked up prices! Im so so so glad i finally tried this! My oh my candy coziness perfect for the cold winters! But its not sickly artificial sweet like gross cakes n candies. No, this is earths sweetness but not earthy smelling, just luxurious sweetness from earths natural sweet florals and flavors. Not sticky or sickly, just divine!

I am ashamed to admit I have been on perfume buying binge.
There. I’ve said it.

In my defense, the binge was brought on by a fit of frustration I had a few weeks ago … frustration with the poor quality and shameful lack of potency of the newer fragrances (newer meaning, these last 20 years). My binge has been focused only on vintages, for that reason.

Now that my confession is out of the way…

Casmir has knocked my socks off, and I bought it before I knew to look for the original Lancaster version, so I am speaking here of the Coty version.

It’s really sublime. Stunner.

At first spray, I hated it. But I was being stupid and impatient in the way I approached it.

I realized this, so I sprayed it only on fabric and let it sit for awhile before smelling the fabric. When I came back to smell it, it was a gorgeous sweet powdery peach. Not tart at all. Almost like a peach sitting in powdered sugar. And zero spice.
This impressed me, though. It was completely lovely, powdery in a heavenly way, but still I was unsure because I didn’t know if I really wanted to smell like peaches in powdered sugar. It was enchanting, but oh sooo sweet.

Then, I sprayed on my skin again. I let it sit for a minute, and then I inhaled…

That’s when I was blown away… by a loud raging spice locomotive, on a vanilla bean train track… dry hot breezes blowing.

It’s an entirely different perfume on skin vs fabric.

The peach is still there for about 20 minutes but not like it was on the fabric. This was spicy… and then the peach totally falls away to pure vanilla and spices …

This is definitely an old style gourmand type of fragrance, for sure. Not like the gourmands of today. But it blends into both territories … oriental and gourmand are combined here, and it’s gorgeous.

Definitely a very similar warm spicy and cozy feel to the dry down of Kenzro Elephant.

However, instead of the mango, clove, and cardamom of Elephant, this is peaches, vanilla, and cinnamon.

It can indeed smell a bit like baking cinnamon rolls after it’s dried down.

I am beyond pleased with this one. Its a big win for me. A treasure. Positively enchanting and I am going to wear it tomorrow even though it will be a warm day.

I was a young lass through the 90s (from my teens to my twenties) and the exact right age to be familiar with Vanilla Fields. I do remember the bottles, and I assume I smelled it on others, but I don’t remember the scent. Casmir (unlike oldies Poison, Bijan, or Venezia) is not at all familiar to me. It’s not one that i sprayed and said, “oh yes! I remember this one!”

This fragrance is entirely new to me.

Update: I bought a bottle of the Lancaster version, as well, since I couldn’t resist.

And, yes, the older Lancaster does seem to have a wee bit more depth, and definitely seems to last longer.
Honestly, I like the Coty version a lot too. It’s still quite strong, even for a reformulation.
Honestly the Coty version is “brighter” with more peach, in my opinion.

I like them equally!

Scentedalterego

Powdery (benzoin) warm peach-vanilla, medium sweet ambery. A bit nineties, but not overly so. Great value. Still has great performance, it is really a radiating scent, that leaves a trail.

In my mind it hasn't changed much (I used to have a bottle 15 years ago), but i haven't done a side-by-side, so can't confirm this hasn't been reformulated.

nelluzza.alali

I don't know what it is with my body chemistry but this one, like other "old school Orientals" with a lot of notes, reminds me right away of a old lady's house and not in a good way... A house where you get whiffs of her perfume from the room she sits in, mixed with a hint of dusty forniture, old kitchen dirt and stagnant air. That's the opening to me, way too mature for me but... Surprisingly... When the opening notes faded away (15ish minutes) this turned into a vanilla-amber with a dash of spice that I don't mind. I still think I can't get past the opening, it brings back unpleasant olfactory memories. Again, this is just my very personal experience and I secretly admire those ladies that can rock a complex scent like this and make it shine.

amandavolpe

Yummy. Very edible. Reminds me of sweet, sticky mango coconut rice. And tutti-frutti bubblegum.

AisLilly

I can appreciate the work behind this and think the combination of notes is quite interesting, however this really confirmed for me that syrupy, rich, amber fragrances are 100% not for me. I think I may have inflicted that on myself by absolutely drenching myself in my mother's bottle of original Opium as a child (which this somewhat reminds me of) and getting headaches. This is a heavy and strong scent that won't be for everyone

hannahmalic

If you get a bottle, firstly I'd like to say be careful with the sprayer because it will HOSE YOU DOWN. So, needless to say the sprayer is powerful and the bottle is beautiful, but not very practical if you want to carry your scent with you for touchups. But, if you want something pretty on your nightstand or beauty area, it's a gem. If you have a giant purse like I do, then no issue.
This smells very similar to both baking vanilla and Vanilla Fields upon initial spray, which I love, and saw very many comparisons between the two online. I like Casmir better though because I find with Vanilla Fields there is some note that I can't quite pinpoint that seems mildly green when I wear it that conflicts with the sweet notes.
I made the mistake of overspraying, but honestly within five minutes it was a nice amber vanilla, despite my enthusiasm with the sprayer. I see there's patchouli listed in the notes, which honestly I hate patchouli, but I really don't detect it at all on my skin or clothes.
The dry down is powdery, but not like in a mature fragrance kind of way. It smells like if you opened up a box of Jello Vanilla Pudding and just smelled the mix, that's the scent that lingers. I know that's a weird comparison, but it's very nice.
The strength kind of varies, on me it's not very strong on initial spray, but like foundation it's buildable for a stronger scent if you so desire. However, I could also be suffering from olfactory fatigue, but who knows. The lasting power is mid grade in my experience, lasts about 4 hours on myself, and tbh it transfers on everything. Clothes, blankets, cats, boyfriend, all of it will smell like vanilla if it comes into contact with your sprayed areas. Which could be a problem if it's not your favorite, but I personally don't mind.

flyprincess

Blind buy for me. Do NOT listen to anyone saying this is an Ylang in Gold dupe! (I have that and it’s beautiful!) I don’t get the the comparison to that AT ALL. This is a very vintage smelling scent. I love vintage as well as orientals, but I don’t like this one. I would pull for Coco Chanel instead, which has some similar notes but smells so much better than this one. Disappointed.

theuntrainednose

I have a sample.

---

A thick, oily oriental with lots of benzoin with an undercurrent of sweet fruit syrup and something dirty and dusty that reminds me of slightly unwashed hair, old-style wood wax and open-air "medieval" fairs with low budget but enthusiastic sellers. I happen to like this kind of scent, but I recognize it is not elegant.

I can see why there are so many reactions of disgust to the scent. It's not for everyone.

For me, it's very interesting and inspiring. The benzoin note is the glue that makes it work for me.

(Wearing it in the summer makes me want to go for a walk in a park)

epona1705

This is such a great perfume and very affordable. Made from a great design house!

Aromaniacy

Casmir was a blind buy. I have read and seen reviews online, I have to admit I was very sceptical for this, but given its amazing price, I decided to get it and if I didn't like it, it would be okay, 20 euros less.
When I first sprayed it, I didn't like it. I was disappointed. And then I kept sniffing my arm because the scent became very deep, calming, unique. I loved it.
An oriental ambery vanilla, spicy with a hint of peachy caramel. Very unique. You might not like it at first but give it time to evolve and reveal all its potential.
Extremely good price, for amazing quality, big sillage and lasting power, literally lasts more than 8 hours on my skin. Before I went to bed one night, i sprayed it on me to make me feel better and I kept feeling its smell next morning.
Ideal for autumn and winter, both day and night.
Totally recommend it if you're into spicy vanilla oriental perfumes. Definitely will get this again.

Kurama

The opening of this one ruins it for me. A certain note stands out which reminds me of something dirty and unwashed. Too bad, had high hopes...

StinkyTinky

This is giving me all the feels of high school. Totally vanilla fields. My sig before I became a perfume nerd. Excited to take a dip when the weather gets cooler..
Not sure if it’s my nose, or my bottle. But does anyone else get deet or off bug spray before the top notes decipate? Actually…I’m still getting it faintly. It’s been on about 15 min. What note is causing that?!?!
I’m so confused. I part love it, part what the hell.

AlaskanAngel

Moldy apricot cobbler. Ugh. Yet another classic fragrance ruined by my hypersensitivity to patchouli! Lovely mulled fruit and spices with a flood of other random notes atop a bitter, musty undercurrent. Unedible and unwearable on me.

rubydoll

I have a 30 ml bottle, blind bought, however it's vanilla sandlewood, no subtleties, nothing. No fruits spices etc. I understand it may because it's a winter perfume. But so far it's a no on me, sandalwood normally is fine on my skin, and at first I thought it was cedarwood with the familiar musty stale dry down smell on me. Not sure if it's a bad juice, or time of the month as at the moment I can't wear rose notes either. I'll give it another go, in a couple of weeks but it's not what I expected.

Edit. Since my bloat has gone I've tried again, it's friendlier on my skin and the stale wood note of the sandalwood isn't as prominent as before. It's drying out softer so I'll be keeping it, using it either at night or winter, just at certain times though.
17th Dec 22 I've had the bottle a year and peach notes now shine as suddenly my skin blooms the peach scent and slightly less of cedar. Possibly won't repurchase though but I'm glad it worked.

Lemon_Candy04

Yeah, people can recommend this better for the cold seasons, but it's summer at the time I'm writing it (received it during Spring so I can't comment on if there are any changes on the cold seasons) But it smells amazing as they say. Although this is my first time writing reviews for perfume, my nose isn't trained at best but all I can say is that the benzoin, exotic like waxes are strong (the ones listed in the base note) do come quicker than I expected. There's also a quick tinge of sweetness (maybe the vanilla or coconut) but I detect barely any fruits. In conclusion: this perfume works well for most seasons, has a strong, exotic wax and creamy scent.

supersaiyan

This is luxe peaches and cream preserved in an amber-honey cloud. An absolutely gorgeous, mouthwatering gourmand worth much more than its price tag suggests. Casmir is the bottled memory of those steaming mugs of spiced cider, Christmas lights illuminating dark sky of the early winter evenings, the fog of your breath in the dry, cold air, the warmth you feel surrounded by those that you love.

Yes, it does smell like M. Micallef's Ylang in Gold. Slightly more synthetic, but also a tenth of the price. This is not a light gourmand, I can see how it is so polarizing.

Alinah

Sweet, soft, calm, not poisoning. Peach , vanilla, some touch of bitter orange and dry fruits . Could be dressy or casual. Day or night. But not to young. I feel like it’s one of those light , but mature scents. Very decent and moderate. Base notes turn leathery or even incense type.

Katie <3

Very exotic, sensuous and a must try for dark vanilla or oriental fans. This perfume is a sexy spiced vanilla that smells amazing as it warms on your skin. The sandalwood and patchouli give the vanilla a sexy edge and take the scent from vanilla to "bad girl". The spices and vanilla compliment one another very well and will give you a uniquely sexy scent that lasts all day/night. Oriental perfumes are my favorite. I would urge you to give Casmir a try.

FollowTheRedHat

For a few years I have been going through a very gourmand phase and my go to notes when looking for something new are vanilla and tonka bean. I saw this a few weeks back on major special and came here looking for guidance from reviews. I was going to blind buy and I knew there was some risk but was hoping this would be more gourmand than oriental.
When I tried it, it began with a spice blast that hummed with the cinnamon, some of the flowers and the underlying scent of peach and apricot. It definitely starts out like a walk through a Middle Eastern market heady with warm, sweet spices. Then the vanilla mingles with the cinnamon and you start getting the stronger, more powerful base notes coming through. It's lovely and complex and not too sweet (well these days it can never be too sweet for me).
It is certainly not the pure gourmand I tend towards, it is definitely an oriental-gourmand, with a foot in both but it is lovely all the same and I am quite happy I bought this, as it is not my typical fragrance and is unique in my collection. This has moderate sillage, not the beast I was expecting but the longevity is pretty decent.
(By the way I have the PFCH version.)

doctordanger

This was a blind buy that I was excited about because I saw so many people describing it as a great budget vanilla. I am not getting a hint of vanilla in this, to the point that I'm wondering if this bottle has gone off. All I can smell is bug spray. An Avon Skin So Soft chemical nightmare that made me and everyone else in my house gag. There is some wood somewhere in here, and I can pick out the amber as well. But I had to get this off of my skin before I could try to pick out any other notes. Very disappointing.

Liliana Ângelo

Blind buy went wrong! Now I can understand why the 100ml was cheaper than 30ml...

I agree with @temporal because there is something "chemical" or "fake" in this frag. And all my hope went down the drain about this being a dupe of Ylang and Gold!

No sophistication, no nothing... I think it might be my chemistry because the paper strip has some decent (not great) scent. On the skin, I only get sweetish chemicals of some sort...

The thousands of notes listed here, for me, are nonexistent! Such a shame!

Wealing to sell...

Enrium

This unusual oriental fragrance is equal parts spicy and sweet, featuring a masterful use of vanilla. It reminds me of Shalimar, but is more subdued, fruity and dissonant. Rich, resinous and discordant, Casmir is not for everyone, but it really is something special.

The opening is boozy, with syrupy peach notes featuring prominently. I can detect some bergamot and a hint of coconut too. Too much coconut ruins any fragrance, but here the its use is just restrained enough to give this scent an exotic edge. Cinnamon is strong here, present from the beginning and provides typical sweet spiciness.

After the initial opening, Casmir settles down, becoming creamy thanks to the vanilla base notes. Some tonka bean creeps in, complementing the vanilla, and floral accords come to the fore as the blast of bellini-like peach fades. Sandalwood gives a heady, smoky quality to this scent as it dries down which makes for an interesting contrast with the sweet vanilla notes.

It becomes musky and slightly animalic as it dries down fully, with the vanilla remaining until it becomes a skin scent. It is well-blended, and both sillage and longevity are quite strong. Lovely bottle too, and a great affordable scent.

This is an understandably divisive scent, but is to my taste. It reminds me of cinnamon rolls baking in the oven, and for me is a warm, comforting autumn/winter scent, the olfactory equivalent of being wrapped in a cashmere jumper. Casmir is of its time, but manages to not be dated. A gem. 4/5.

brandybasisty

Holy doodle, I always hated Vanilla Fields, but this juice is addictive! The opening is bright, syrupy fruits that eventually settle (20 minutes?) and become elegant. The vanilla is wound around the whole fragrance, and it's sweet and boozy but not cloying or overpowering. I think the flowers are what keeps the sweetness balanced (I'm looking at you, geranium and carnation). The drydown on me is spicy apricots, and lasts until the next day. What a generous, sunny spirit this perfume has. It's not pretentious or edgy, but it's well-made and still smells contemporary to me.
UPDATE: I'm wearing the pure parfum version from Lancaster group, and it has a dusty sweetness that feels like the vanilla that Guerlain uses! I also detect coconut and cinnamon coming through once the fruit top notes dry off. Really lovely 😍

CdeBXL

Chopard brings some excellent value/price ratio! "Wish" is a lovely gourmand if you are into it, and Casmir is another intermittent go-to sweetish but more spicy oriental.

I have owned Casmir since its creation. Totally up my alley: strong oriental balsamic amber bomb with loads of warm spices, juicy fruits and vanilla. A scent to be worn on dark autumn and winter evenings, or, since I do like it very much, on a fresh spring day (I am weird, I know). Perhaps it is the bergamot, mimosa and geranium slicing through just enough to avoid too heavy a cloying syrup.
Casmir, moreover, comes in a stunning bottle.

Not an everyday scent, but a boozy staple in my collection. Moreover, what's not to like given the price at which it comes!

louiee

You get a sparkling diamond at a bargain price if you buy this one. You get a lot for a little.

Casmir what a joy you are.
It definetly has a “Dolce vita” vibe to it.
Cinnamon, ripe abricots and peaches, carnation, musk, vanilla and patchouli on a musky/woody base.

Vibrant, alive and joyous. It has a calming and yet energizing energy how ever strange that may sound.

Strong silage and long lasting on both skin and clothes.

This is a big love for me.

SophieVictoria93

This is a lovely affordable night time fragrance for those on a budget. A fruity yet powdery vanilla amber with a spicy cinnamon undertone. There is something about this scent that reminds me of vintage perfumes like Shalimar and Opium - they don't smell the same, however have a similar vibe.

Bought this perfume because I am a big fan of Gucci Rush (who the perfumer of Casmir also created) however you would never think just on smelling that these came from the same 90's decade, let alone the same nose. Nevertheless, I am impressed by this perfume and do think it should be considered as one of the classics.

hollymichaelm

This brings a smile to my face, because it’a a fun girl at a party who’s a real b. Maybe everyone doesn’t like her, but she doesn’t care. This is a great, irreverent, vintage fragrance - I agree with the description of this as being bohemian - the bohemian, carefree cutie at the party.

Vilja Vee

Romantic but practical, just-a-little-nonsense.
A homemaker who luxuriates in the warmth of her own golden light.
Quaint whimsy.
Gilmore Girls vibes.
Star's Hollow in Autumn.
Chopard Casmir.

There is a top note I didn't like that smells metallic/piercing, quite similarly to the opening of Youth Dew by Estée Lauder. Both share peach and cinnamon as notes, so it might be those two.

rouxrouxroux

BLIND BUY.
Don't really regret it, but not super happy about it. Personally, the thing about first impressions is true of both people and perfume. I can try to like someone all I want to, get to know them, empathize , blah blah blah- but at the end of the day if my gut told me the cold hard truth, that's that. With Casmir, I'm sitting here sniffing this card thinking about the reviews about a warm pie on a fall afternoon and vibing with it. Also feels like I'm in a bustling shopping mall in some suburbs somewhere the late 80s. Rick Astley is playing listlessly through the mall sound system. I'm on edge because my kids keep bothering me about moonshoes. Going to go to the food court and spike my orange julius with booze.

So I can understand the appeal, but it's not for me. Keeping it though. the bottle is too cool.

EDIT: I've been wearing it on my wrists to get to know it better. I definitely am picking up the plastic-y notes and the cinnamon is super strong to me. It's such a warm cozy *weird* vibe. It's somehow unsettling.
In my super limited experience of fragrance - casmir after the drydown has a lot of similarity to Angel Nova after the drydown. It must be the benzoin.

I wore this on a cool, rainy afternoon going for a long walk. All along the way I got that cozy, sweet, creamy apricot dessert scent. It was like arriving at a family Thanksgiving dinner in cool fall weather with the scent of home baking hitting you before you reach the door. I'd like to see how it does in warmer weather but I'm already a fan.

MagdalenaM

Great value for money! At first I found the opening so outdated that I discarted this scent, but after giving it a fair chance I found it to be a cozy, warm, beautiful scent. Once it develops it smells like vanilla and apricots, but not in a cheap way. Its really a no-brainer - for the price its a steal.

I bought a small bottle of Casmir recently as I love Oriental perfumes. As a matter of fact, I pretty much like all perfumes. It is very rare for me to put something on that I really don't like! The initial vanilla of this fragrance was nice, but it smells very cheap and there is none of the complexity of notes described above. The vanilla was cloying and although I don't mind a strong scent, there is something not nice about it, which stays the same for a long while, but is then surmounted by the smell of what I associate with a mechanic's workshop! Old grease, petroleum. I don't know if I got a bad batch, or whether there is just something in it that hasn't been done right. But yuck!

annxyz

Very good perfume value for the quality . Well made vanilla with spices and a bohemian vibe . This one is a keeper !

This is how I want a man to smell like. I can't say is a bad perfume because is not, is just not for me. I realized once again that I'm not into oriental fragrances. It's an vintage smell indeed, masculine something blended with a dentist smell, don't feel any vanilla in it. Luckily doesn't smell at all like Shalimar, it's not giving you headaches or nausea even if is oriental perfume. I can say it's a qualitative perfume, doesn't smell cheap, synthetic, it just not on my taste because I prefer feminine, sexy perfumes. I will give it away to a friend of mine that she likes this type of smells. The persistence is also good.

Lemony vanilla. My mother used to wear it and every time I thought that she was baking cookies :D

It is not how I would like to smell, but I understand why someone would like it.

Magnoliajo

This smells similar to Hanae More Butterfly EDP but with added spice and what I think is Ylang Ylang, which ruins it for me. I Don't like this yet I love Butterfly it's a bit sweeter

HappyScentTrails

I heard this smells like Ylang In Gold M.Micallef

Vanilla has a birthday party and invites everyone they know will bring the best gifts. Every guest is secretly in love with her, and accordingly each find a way to best complement her without revealing their hidden desires.

Groovy apricots ★★★★☆

Casmir is very much a typical Almairac creation in the same style as Fahrenheit, Rush, Joop Homme and Chole in the sense that they all, in their own genre, combine powerful synthetics to generate a straightforward but highly distinguishable and memorable accord more boisterous than elegant. His most famous creations are also notoriously love/hate fragrances that inhabit a difficult territory, which in the wrong hands becomes cheap and vulgar as well as make too much noise when worn for a dinner date. Casmir is no exception: it is loud and unapologetic, but has a curiously affable quality that makes you want to sniff closer instead of recoil in horror. Casmir’s vanilla is not the deep smoky bourbon kind, instead its the bright gleeful sweet vanillic type very typical of the 90’s fragrances. It’s supported by a silken canned apricot note, a lactonic bread-like note similar to Luten's Jeux de Peau and a hot plastic accord to make it inedible. There has been some controversy that Casmir should’ve been crowned as the first gourmand instead of Angel, yet I feel Casmir is more foody than a confectionery. So no, I don’t consider Casmir to be a true gourmand. The scent pyramid suggests a complex fragrance, yet Casmir is far from it. Apart from the tart juicy opening, it remains linear thorough its extremely long-lasting life on the skin. Mine is the Coty version without the red lotus on the bottom and this version, while pretty good, doesn’t have the it-factor Almairac’s masterpieces like Fahrenheit and Rush do. Perhaps the Lancaster-era vintage was superior, but given Almairac's style of creating strong signatures using synthetics, I could imagine Casmir still being recognizable even with all expensive naturals removed. Besides, with the low prices you’re truly getting bang for the buck even in its current form so go get it!

I am so incredibly sad about this perfume. I bought it and days later returned it because the opening smelled like acetone. My husband smelled Turkish Delight which is everything I wanted but it was just not right. Even on my sweater it was gross and chemical smelling. I am craving what I think it was supposed to be. I also miss the beautiful bottle!

puppeta

It remindes me Organza Indecence Givenchy with a mix of Burberry Women and kenzo jungle l 'elephant....All 3 favorite and perfect parfumes...This one is sweeter than the other 3 but with common scents.I love it and I think that everyone who loves vanilla and cinammon is going to like it as well. Also long lasting and strong sillage!

This was an unexpected surprise of a blind buy. I hesitated before finally hitting the "Buy" button because all those tropical fruits look intimidating and I wasn't looking for a sunscreen scent.

But Almairac has done an impressive job of blending. It's not the notes that you can pick out as much as the accords and vanilla is the centerpiece here: it's woody vanilla, amber resinous vanilla, fruity vanilla, tropical vanilla, and musky vanilla all at once. I don't get any of the florals on my skin but there is an intriguing hint of them on the paper strip: cool and lifting in an otherwise all-warm perfume. On skin – and it is MUCH better on skin -- it is the rich warm aroma of dried fruit and woody spices with a rich vanilla heart. It evokes something exotic and comforting all at once. After smelling this, I can't imagine vanilla being blended with anything else that shows off its warmth *without* focusing on the sweetness quite as well.

I've been layering it with Korloff's Un Soir a Paris for a "sugar and spice and everything nice" effect. The peach in Casmir is not nearly as pronounced or sweet as in the Korloff Marshmallow combination but layering the two gives me different sweet and spicy facets. The Casmir take is a standout, though.

It is pretty unisex and it can be worn year round – I can see this accenting warm skin in the summer heat as well as being deliciously comforting in the winter. I want to live in this perfume. It's made me really LIKE vanilla and it is an incredible bargain for the price, too.

I can not remember if I previously reviewed this, but I decided to pull it out of my collection anf wear it today for the first time in ages after trying a spritz the other night. This is REALLY good - one of the best bargains in perfumery today. Some say it is cloying, but compared to so many other vanilla-heavy, saccharine gourmands, I find this vanilla to be tempered by oriental spices and resins. This is really all about vanilla to me. I have to admit that I don't gravitate towards fragrances the prominently feature vanilla, so my nose may not be accustomed to smelling it without associating it with ultra sweetness. Because I am currently appreciating Casmir, I am thinking that I have written off something potentially wonderful due to my prejudice, and plan on fixing that soon. Suggestions would be welcomed!
On to Casmir. I get a big vanilla and cinnamon blast when first applied and I love it!! It does go through a stage somewhat after where I get a rather unpleasant note which I am attributing to the peach, which smells very artificial to me. Once that recedes a bit, the resins come up to the surface, making the peach more of a hint rather than a primary note. It's at that point where they all meld together, forming something slightly exotic, though time and trends make it less so than what it might have been when first launched.
Ultimately it is cozy and snuggly, something I feel equally comfortable wearing while in my pajamas, a big sweater with jeans, and even for the evening.
With all that said, I want to make clear that this is not a fragrance I would call much more than mainstream. It's certainly not a masterpiece, and I suspect that reformulations over the years have taken away from it's beauty. Michel Almairac is a favorite of mine, so I trust that it must have been stunning when first released. But with all that said, I would be hard pressed to name many other perfumes that offer such bang for the buck, with a handful of exceptions - looking at you, Blue Silk by AP!!
I am going to sit back and just enjoy the experience, lying on the couch and still in my pajamas!! ; )

EDIT - Just found my review from 2019. Pretty much the same as this one, though it did remind me how nicely this layers with Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille cream and body wash!

tamatomoca

Since beastly oriental florals are my jam, this one isn't notably "oriental," to my nose.
Very well harmonized scent, that makes you feel enveloped in coziness. The first minutes after the spritz was a bit too much fruit, and the minutes after that reminded me of garden full of yellow flowers (probably caused by the mix of florals and fruits). Once the vibrant phase goes away, I am accompanied all day by powdery warm diet vanilla. Great lasting power - one spray lasted the whole day! Very easy to like for a cozy day in.

This perfume smells like a trip to Instanbul, like Turkish delights & spice markets, it's like a cultural encounter between the French haute couture and the Arabic culture. Vanilla, myrrh, amber, benzoin, peach and geranium are the most noticeable notes and project you into luxury exotic adventures, and eastern journeys.

However I purchased this perfume for nostalgic reasons. I remember it being on my mother's shelf for ages and being attracted by its gorgeous gold bottle. I was told as a male child to never spray it. So as a kid I was hiding and occasionally smell it from the cap and I remember to secretly love this rich, warm, vanilla scent coming out of it.

It arrived today in the mail and right after I spray it memories of 25 years ago came back. However it's VERY noticeable the so talked reformulation... The new one (I own the PFCH version) lacks of persistence and stays extremely attached to the skin... The Nineties version would stay with you for hours, project around (I remember I could smell my mother three meters away from me) this new one requires literally 10 sprays to get minimum satisfaction. Sounds more like a cologne or even a body spray to me (which explains also the low price)...so on that side I am extremely disappointed!

Will probably look for a vintage bottle on the eBay to treasure.

johnsond61

This smells like them gummy slices: half-moon sugar crystal gummy candies. Warm spiced peaches and vanilla out the oven. It’s amazing. Do blind buy. Damn near a signature for my gourmand lovin behind.

I was very curious about Casmir! A very affordable fragrance to obtain currently. The top notes are intoxicating, thick syrupy vanilla, spicy cinnamon and sandalwood, creamy tonka and benzoin. Beautiful! So spicy and warm perfect for cool weather, I could see this being especially delightful during the winter holidays. It's fun and festive. At first it comes on strong but dries down fairly quickly to a scent that radiates around arm's length on me. I can still smell it's spicy sweet ambiance floating around me and I have been wearing it for about 2.5 hours. I don't get a lot of the fruits and flowers but I am sure they add much to the complexity of Casmir. There is a slight patch but it certainly doesn't take center stage here. A unique offering among the plethora of sweet, gourmand themed fragrances! Win!

lauren.smells

Some very kind Fragranticans recommended this to me as a less costly alternative to my love Lalibela. I absolutely see why the comparison was made, but sadly it doesn't work for me. The vanilla is far too overbearingly sweet for my liking and it isn't balanced by the other notes. This reminds me of the locker room after gym class, when some used vanilla body spray to cover up sweat while others were spraying fruity scents at the same time. A lot going on, all too sweet.

Markellam92

My mom had this perfume and I remember I was in loooove with it, so of course on my 12 birthday I literally sprayed half of it on me... 😂That didn't go well with my guests that evening...So after all these years I find the last Casmir bottle on sale and I couldn't resist..A very rich and warm vanilla is what stays on my skin, it's definitely on the heavy side of the spectrum but so rich! The silage is amazing! If you are a Vanilla lover you have to find that perfume!

temporal

Blind buy based on positive reviews and listed notes.
On my skin it is something truly terrible to my nose, while my mother enjoys it - and it really sounds well on her skin, soft and sweet yet crispy. My mother is brunette and her skin is warm.

While what I hear applying Casmir to my skin, is a loud artificial caramel opening. With some references to a soft cashmere burried under this. But as my skin is cold, it does not open properly on me. Tried to tame it for several times - but it's too "chemical" :(

SailorCupcake

My mother had this in the mid-90s and I have fond memories of the bottle and the sweet fragrance. Feeling nostalgic in quarantine, I decided to buy a bottle from Fragrancenet.

The opening is fruity and sweet (I cannot distinguish any individual fruits, though), a little bit fresh. After about 10-15 minutes on me, it smells very warm and sweet....like a slightly fruity, syrupy Warm Vanilla Sugar by Bath and Body Works. It fades to a soft vanilla with a hint of wood.

The longevity on me is fantastic. I sprayed a hint on myself before bed around midnight, and when I woke up around 7, I could smell an almost candy like ending.

If you like warm vanillas, you should like this! Plus the price can't be beat!

I have 1995 mini version (I was young, didn't have the money to buy larger sizes, storage was a big issue that miniatures solved and at the time minis were an industry of their own. I love scents and this was a viable way for me to indulge) and I love it. It smells today as good as it did then. One of the few that haven't turned, speaks to the quality of the company at that time. Thankfully the patchouli doesn't take over, I think bc of the amount of ingredients and the skill of the creator in blending. Spicy, fruity, vanilla, floral oriental. Dry down is heaven and lasts til the next day, on clothes until you wash them.

froooh93

Benzoin, opoponax, patchouli that’s all I got, cloyingly sweet, and sticky-plasticky.

Hey every one !

This is my first review since I joined the community few minutes earlier. I am living in Tunisia with its warm, sunny uplifting weather and I am wearing Casmir only in cold days of winter. This is a super feminine perfume and does not smell like all those similarl syrupy sweet fragrances. There is a very unique note here giving it all its charm which is the dried fruit "coldness".. very similar to Tresor Classique by Lancome but much more elegant. Tresor is sharp at some point but this one is very well blended.. adorable one if you like vintage, feminine perfumes♡

Lazarelle

I bought a sample of this to test, and I'm wearing it now in icy-cold UK weather. I am enjoying it a lot - it is a sensual, warm fragrance, that is at once making me think of far-off places and at the same time wrapping me in the comforts of home. Maybe it puts me in mind of childhood memories of incense that my aunt used to burn at home, or incense mixed with the richly spiced, mouthwatering food that was always cooking at my relatives' places when I was growing up.

Another reviewer writes that it is 'too much' at once fruity, smoky, amber-y and spicy; but this is precisely what I like about it. To me it feels just right. An 'oriental' and slightly gourmand fragrance which is comforting, nourishing and sensual all at once. The vanilla, cinnamon, sandalwood, amber and other resins are coming through quite strongly, but not at all in an overpowering way. The sillage seems moderate. The fruity top-notes are detectable, but they have a gentle touch. Just a hint of juicy coconut, apricot and peach. A soft kiss of fruits. I am thinking of Moroccan and Indian cuisines and tea houses. I really love this and I will definitely purchase a bottle at some point. It's delicious!

Madyana

Have had this same bottle for years.
Every summer I have come to the same conclusion; my juice has turned! The scent is almost non-existent.
But the miracle happened again this year. When there is frost this becomes a real powerhouse and again I can survive in gusts and winds. The more frost, the better this gets! A real survival pack.

To add to my previous review:

Casmir is a SOLID, giftable, wearable, enjoyable scent that will appeal to many people of various ages. Box, bottle, and scent are All Charming!

Not much at all like Vanilla Fields or Vanilla Musk by Coty, IMHO. They are in the same family but smell completely different on my skin.

To sum up: Casmir is a 'simple' apricot-vanilla with a sophisticated base that is quite warm and womanly. Moderate sillage and longevity and very high on the 'nice' list! Terrific value.

Cosmina07

Shalimar vibes, but I prefer Casmir.. firstly I can smell some ripe peaches, juicy ones with some expensive vanilla essence and one drop of Shalimar Edp, even if it is a cheapie I love it for its price and performance, a good investment. I think is a must have
