Big Creed fan, but not too fond of this one.

Very citrusy, which I typically like, but off my skin there is also musky salty/bitterness. I’m guessing that’s the “marine” aspect. If you’re looking for mass appealing citrus, steer clear. If you want something bold and in my opinion polarizing, worth trying I suppose.

I can see why maybe someone would compare it to Milliseme Imperial they both have melon, but they are pretty different even though they are in the same vein. Milliseme is much easier to stomach, and has that mass appeal. I would go with Milliseme all day.

Mature vibe, sample first for sure.

Michaelovesfrags

Pretty unique I have yet to smell anything that is quite like it. The melon combined with the sea salt and ambergris make for something one of a kind. In love with the smell of this, but the performance is horrible considering the price. It is the best marine I have ever smelt and I would pick it over MI or any other designer marine scent. The melon is realistic and everything smells very well blended and high quality. The only problem is that I get 1.5-2 hours on skin and like 3-5 hours on clothes. Definitely have to carry around a travel spray and reapply every few hours and for a fragrence at this price point you should not have to do that. If you can find it under 180 dollars I would go for it, just get a sample first because I could see someone not liking how salty and oceanic it smells. If you like MI you will probably love this aswell.

This is sexy!
Masculine, fruity, a little sweet, woody and fresh with a little bit of warmth i wouldn’t say it’s spicy because it’s very young and enticing.
This is the son of Bois du Portugal - an elegant, sexy and modern soft and refreshing citrus scent.
Perfect for summer or all year round but would shine more in summer.
I see a sophisticated Hugh Grosvenor type wearing this as it’s quite an opulent perfume and easy reach for summer.
10/10 it projects and leaves a intoxicating trail . Lasts about 5/6 hours.

I do not really like the smell of melon, it always feel synthetic to me. You never get the actual real smell of a fresh sliced melon but instead what you get from melon gum, or ice-cream which I find really off putting.

I do not like Millesim Imperal which to me really just feels like someone is chewing melon gum and breathing it at me.

Erolfa though, even if similar is somehow a wonderful perfume that I really enjoy. First I get lemon, melon, black pepper and ambergris and after a while the lemon disappears and is replaced by pine and cedar.

When I wear it I get evoked by memories from Malta and the Sicilian coastline in end of summer. Dry warm Mediterranean Sea air, ripe fruits, cypress, olive and fig trees.

I think anyone can wear it, it’s ageless (certainly not youthful) and unisex - because it’s more of a place not a person.

Would I have to describe a person wearing this, it would someone that is not in a hurry for anything, and have eyes that are smiling but with a stoic view of life. Imagine Brad Pitt in the commercial for DeLonghi. It can also be a bit mellow but hopeful on a rainy day. Imagine Patricia Clarkson in the Station Agent.

Ofcourse I enjoy it the most in the warmest days in August, dressed in a linnen shirt by the ocean, but somehow it works very well during rainy days as well when the base notes comforts and keeps you warm.

a lesser Milliseme Imperial IMHO. I was sure I was going to love this Creed based on the description by most reviews who paint it to be a marine experience and I love anything that has marine, sea salt, etc. I was massively disappointed when I first tried it.
Erolfa was created in the 90's and it's certainly a product of its time, it feels dated. It seems to borrow a lot from the generic fragrances of the early 90's with a few elements to tell it apart from the rest. It's overpriced for what it is with the mediocre performance we've come to expect from Creed.

To be honest, it's beyond me how I continue to love this house. I own 19 of their fragrances and have back up for a few.

Top 3 Creeds I like the least would have to be:
Original Santal
Erolfa
Viking

Liumars

Nice fresh perfume. All are perfect except longevity, about 1~2hr on me.

Slogsy

Ordered a decant of this and I absolutely love this stuff. It reminds me of a higher quality, more refined, softer version of L’eau D’Issey pour homme. It has a very similar soft watery green/melon/citrus/floral kind of profile, I would say Erofla smells like an elevated version of L’eau D’Issey. That being said, it’s performance and projection compared to D’Issey are far worse. Last maybe about half as long in skin and projects far less too. But I’m actually ok with this, at least the projection. I’ve never wanted my spring summer fragrances to fill the room, but for some that might be a deal breaker. The longevity is concerning especially given a price point of $180-190 USD for the 1.7oz bottle on jomashop/fragrencenet and other discounters. I’d rate this a 6.5/10 if the longevity was better and price was lower (maybe $180/190 for the 3.3oz) this would easily be an 8 or 9/10 and be one of my spring/summer staples.

Vvsberg

One of the best openings but it’s something in it that gives off an unpleasant scent as it’s drying down maybe the nutmeg or the caraway. But it’s good fragrance by possibility one of the best perfumers ever.

Metemurat

i loved the smell but bruh what is this longevity i couldnt smell the tester paper after 1 hour

komail

My problem with this one is that the sum of its part is better than the whole. If you pay close attention and try to dissect it and get along with the price, you will not succeed. While the ingredients seem fine, the sum total smells like its made by 40$ low tier designer brand like Bentley or Montblanc. It’s like a blue take on Silver Mountain Water and Milliseme Imperial. The problem is that the aforementioned also smell better and perform better.

Manam

WISH IT LASTED LONGER 😔
Fresh, clean, crisp and high quality. Floral and fruity , definitely the quality of creed. But the major let down is the performance. Very very poor lasting capacity, i dont get more than an hour and half. Projection may be 15 mins.
There are better options at this price point

PaddyOhFraiche

I’m sorry to those who like this, but on my skin it smells like millesime imperial mixed with urine & it’s absolute rubbish to me. I noticed a lot of ppl in the Facebook fragrance groups have also said the same thing. If you have to choose between the two, pick MI. It’s way better!

AJPkayla

I really like the fresh citrus aspect. Beautifully blended. Too bad it has typical Creed performance.

BGBG

Very salty. Aquatic. Ozonic. Weird.

Mjchaelj

Smelled of Sprite to me. Fizzy sparkling citrusy bliss. Would be fantastic in hot weather. Not the most modern but I’m impressed. One of the best Creed in my opinion.

8.5/10

PapaTLooch

I find this similar to Royal Water but RW is easier to wear.

dantek121

I left a review before but I have to say that if this fragrance opened differently it would be THE creed fragrance. I don't see someone trying multiple fragrances at once in a store being able to appreciate this fragrance due to the sharp, almost moldy opening. The drydown is amazing. Performance could be better but its about average for Creed.

ZeaMoore4

Magnificent fragrance. Not unique or groundbreaking in any way. But Nobody will complain about this scent. It's fresh, clean and sparkling.

The story behind it also makes it a very spesial Creed fragrance to own.

It has a soapy vibe to it, and due to having post covid, this is one of the fragrances that now make it hard for me to breath. I would love using it, but I can't any more.😔.

A 9/10 fragrance for me.

Crusader Smitty

Yum

Not as smooth as other Creeds but still a summer banger!

8.5/10 - losing a point for performance and half for feeling a tad dated. Still a great fragrance but not 'modern'.

eaudemale

This is very nice, a little dated tho as it smells like the 90s: Metallic, marine, chalky, floral that dries down very powdery, the top citruses are deeply blended, they’re not sticking out like in SMW or Aventus Cologne. For a similar fragrance at a more affordable price get Escape by CK.

DariaFrancesca74

A masculine fragrance with a distinctly citrusy, very volatile opening, the fragrance evolves over time towards marked woody and fresh spicy scents: the notes of pine, pepper and caraway emerge lively on lively notes of nutmeg flower. The base remains reassuring and powdery, the ambergris emerges elegantly on the musky notes.

Nickfarbeyond

Top tier sea salty fruity aquatic. Kind of similar to millesime imperial but I love and own both and think they’re different enough to warrant that.
Not a screamer by any means but older bottles have solid longevity
10/10

dabeyondobsessedemperor

Okayyy... so I always wondered how an aquatic Creed fragrance would be interpreted, so I set my eyes out on Erolfa, which was the closest option to that vibe/category, besides Millesime Imperial of course. I finally got my hands on a tester, and tried it recently. My verdict? It's very, very potent. It's a marine, blue fragrance for a much more mature audience. It almost has a harsh, medicinal opening akin to Polo Green, mixing citrus with minty, dry herbaceous notes and pine. It almost reminds me of an oil my grandmother used to keep in her medicine cabinet. Objectively not offensive or foul in any way? But it's just not something I would want to smell like, and I believe most people under like, 40 years of age would come to the same conclusion. The drydown is much more tolerable, and dare I say quite well-thought, with a soft, signature accord of clean ambery musk while still incorporating a touch of juicy hesperidics. The melon and green notes are background noise throughout the course of the fragrance, at least on my skin. Performance is pretty piss-poor, unfortunately, and fades away after 3-4 hours. Of course, everything mentioned above is based on one try of the fragrance, and I'll update this review when I do try it again, perhaps in warmer weather. Until then, I'd say that if you're an older person, regardless of gender, in the market for an oceanic fragrance, or you're simply into more vintage scents, Erolfa is definitely a solid, viable option for you. I was almost sure, given that I like most vintage fragrances (and especially adore Green Irish Tweed), that I would personally enjoy this fragrance on first whiff, but I guess it just wasn't something that went with my skin chemistry, and that's okay to accept for now. Once again, though, I'll give this a second chance and update from there, given my everlasting love for most other Creed fragrances, and the fact that I am still aware of the high level of craft involved in this fragrance.

Lot: CM31 19P01 (Jul 2019). After an initial fresh burst of lime and melon, which doesn't last so long, it fades into jasmine and ... faint hints of herbs ... it then almost vanishes. Max I get from overspraying is 2 to 3 hours. I hardly reach any of the base notes which is a shame. Bit disappointed to be honest. Judging from the batch code this bottle is already over 4 years old so I doubt it will develop much further.

Billford420

Bought a bottle back in 2016, I used to love this scent.
It’s been shelved since then, but kept in pristine condition.
I recently revisited this scent due to the heat.
Right away I’m reminded why I loved this scent, a fresh limey melon type opening with the somewhat musky base shining through.
The drydown is an old school musk drydown, reminiscent of something you’d smell on a guy in the late 80s or 90s.
There’s just one thing, somewhere between the top and the base, you’re going to encounter a somewhat fecal note, not so much indolic, more poopy. Not sure what’s causing it, maybe an interaction between the ambergris accord and the sandalwood? Or maybe even the oakmoss? It smells like if an old man made of sandalwood farted. Not sure what it is but you’re gonna smell poopy for about 15-20 minutes.
I can’t speak for the new batches, as this is a 2016 bottle.
Just wanted to point that out to anyone thinking of blind buying this.

Raul Claudiu

Similar to MI but this has a heavier opening, almost animalic and is also more complex and longer lasting. The drydown is amazing, smells like melon with a photorealistic sea breeze. The Creed ambergris, salty musk base is very present here.

Such an understated, but sophisticated scent. The more I wear this, the more I’m convinced it’s Creed’s most underrated gem.

RhettB27

Smelled so much today at Saks, this one smelled incredible and got my attention!! Smells like Dad lol classic, fresh, and masculine. Will be purchasing as a gift for mine in time without a doubt!

Unmarkedbillz

Not as green as Millesime Imperial or Sean John Unforgiveable which is a good thing. However, the lemon, pine, and jasmine notes give it a bathroom cleaner opening. After about 20 minutes it dies down to a nice, clean summer fragrance. No projection or longevity though. So in the end I don't think current formulations are worth it.

GSR

Beautyfull. Ultra fresh, citrus, soft musky, oceanic summer scent. Feels like a blue fragrance. Performance ok.

I've been waiting a long while to review this fragrance. I went to Creed in Paris and dragged my family along. It is a chichi store where I certainly felt a little out of place. I was there to sample and potentially buy Aventus as I had never tried it before. The lady kindly walked me through the paces of trying nearly every Creed cologne available. I started with the ones everyone knows... Aventus, Green Irish Tweed, Silver Mountain Water, Milliseme, etc. I liked them, but I wasn't wowed by them. Finally, I tried Erolfa. It was very different than anything else. It was very much like a Mediterranean Trip through some ancient Roman port with shops lining the city. Citrus with the smell of the sea in the air. I loved it immediately. My daughter agreed and I purchased it.

Erolfa performs better in the heat for sure. In the Spring air, it doesn't project at all. Turn up the temp to 85+ and all of a sudden you'll notice it. It is now my go to for warm days that are special. I think it was $225 Euros, but we got a percent back for tax, so that was substantially better than the $345 they charge in the US. On my skin it projects for about 2 hours and then is a skin scent. It last for about 6 hours on my skin. The clerk gave me 10 samples altogether so I felt like I got some value out of it. The one sample I didn't try in the store that I would consider purchasing was Vetiver Geranium. So different than anything out there. Erolfa is a blue scent, but has a little more character than most.

Smell 5/5
Sillage 4/5
Longevity 3.5/5

fragrantlyenhanced

its nice and unique but didn't fully convince me. fruity fresh, green, watery, musk, tucked away violet in the opening. mid becomes piney with ginger clean jasmine. actually the melon from the opening lasts into the mid aswell. its interesting but i can tell already from spraying it that this need some body heat and over spraying to push it off the skin. when it fully settles you get a mineral musky ambergris. id wear this but its just a little bit less interesting compared to whatever else creed has to offer. to really appreciate this you need a windy sunny day the scents really starts enveloping all round you and its quite nice and clean and calming

toompje88

Beautiful scent, one of the best “blue” fragrances I smelled. Blue, but without having a cheap shower gel smell, so this is for people who normally don’t like these type of scents. Also it is generally liked and well perceived by the non-fraghead people around you. Regarding the longevity and projection this scent really shines in hot weather, it seems to last much longer then and I still get whiffs of it 7-8 hours later.

Scentimentalboy

I don’t get the point of the hype at all. It is a nice scent more or less but nothing more to me. Of course everything about scents is subjective but for me it is one of the least attractive Creeds. For my nose it has a masculine note(pine?) which was very general and usual in man fragrances in the 90’s. I almost blind bought it, happy that I just went for a sample.

dantek121

The immediate opening has a very sharp moldy smell but shortly after it becomes one of my favorite Creed scents. Melon, oakmoss and ambergris are the main notes I get but other notes are definitely detectable. Suitable for the same situations as Millesime Imperial but a decent bit stronger and more interesting. Definitely worth getting.

Phresh Man

This smells like a fresh, rich dad scent! For a parfum concentration, this only lasts about 6-7hrs

SilhouettesandSillage

When going to find out what Aventus smelled like, I ended up testing all of the other scents... I fell in love with Erolfa! A beautiful interpretation of sailing on the open seas. It fades off quickly at times, and others it can be an interesting journey of notes.
I bought two different clones of this before I could afford the real deal.
While they came close to the scent in the dry down, the quality of the original is unmatched.

Tyrone E

It smells herbal, watery, somewhat cooling, citrusy and slightly fruity all at once in the opening.

The dry down is much less herbaceous and it becomes more of a light, smooth, fruity, citrusy, musky, salty, watery scent.

It appears to sit very close to the skin and longevity is in the 3 to 4 hour range tops. This is one I'd spray on clothing for better performance.

This fragrance is said to smell very similar to Creeds Millesime Imperial. I agree that they are similar, but only in the dry down. Erolfas opening is more complex, whereas Millesime Imperial is more airy and seems linear by comparison.

makhiaveli

After wearing this for a few weeks here are my thoughts.

The ambergris and lime mix really well together to create a somewhat creamier lime scent. I usually dislike citrus based fragrances because most citrus in perfumes smells a bit acrid to my nose, but the ambergris and citrus really blend well together on this one.

This does smell somewhat animalic, but it's also sweet smelling and I find that it works really well for me in Texas summers, where everyone is already sweating already.

As usual with Creed, the only complaints I have about this are the sillage and longevity. That being said, the more moderate sillage works better in hot Texas summers where you don't want to be smelling anything too strong except for fresh mint/green smells.

Steve907

This is the fragrance equivalent of that person at work who constantly tells you how important they are to the company and they deserve more than they're getting paid despite the fact that they're getting paid more than you and most other people at work. And they make threats of how they're going to tell the boss off one day though they never will because they're soft. You know this because they're beyond retirement age but still work at the company. They've been there so long that they don't even have to stay the entire day. They're nice enough to tolerate but the company could really benefit from a younger worker who didn't cost so much and actually stayed through an entire work day.

logirome

This sounded right up my street however after sampling this several times now and I just don't get it , all I pick up is a weak watery flimsy scent that I can barely smell , many other much better creeds imo .

samI23

Piere bourdon is truely a master when it comes to creating fresh scents. I tried GIT and sold it in the past, lately i tried french lover from FM and currently own this and a 2015 millisme imperial. You can feel the dna of him in his works. This i wanted a bottle for a long time especially because of the hype and me enjoying his other works from creed. I tried in the past from a store, and i was blown away with the scent . Fast forward today, i pulled the trigger and bought a bottle. My bottle is from 2021(21X01). The scent itself is very good but not as I remember and the performance of this is sooo bad. I spay this and after 25 min i don’t detect it at all. My brother smelled me though after a couple of hours but this was when were very close to each other. I truly regret buying this especially for the price tag. I only use this after a shower.very sad to see creed fragrances being watered down to that extent. 7.5 / 10 just because The scent itself is very beautiful

jasonv

Anyone has a bottle they are looking to trade PM me!

TrudeausBeard

This is a really underrated Creed. A great aquatic, warm weather scent, it has some similarity with Millesime but without that metallic note common to MI and SMW.
This and Aventus are my two favourite warm weather options from the house. If it could be improved upon, I’d love to see a version with the muskier base common to more recent creeds, but overall it’s a timeless scent perhaps all the more so as it has flown under the radar so long.

Swolecido

My #1 from the house of creed. It reminds me of sailing off the coast of Kauai on a dinner cruise.

This is the most classy oceanic fragrance on the market. It's has very natural marine notes, perfectly blended citrus, fresh herbs, subtle woods and authentic ambergris. Very addictive and makes you want to keep smelling your wrists to experience it over and over again.

Gurreu

Thank you for this wonderful fragrance, Pierre Bourdon! My twenty year old bottle is still going strong :)

SammyyyZEEEEEEE

Very dated, think late 80s early 90s. Starts off smelling like MI, but not as sweet. Shifts toward a designer citrus like L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake.

Dry down, generic citrus shower gel very similar to Sedley by Parfums de Marly, then the opening notes of MI appear again.

LHRunkel

This is a safe scent, very mild in a good way. I absolutely see the similarities with Millesime Imperial. At face value you wouldn't think of them being so similar but if you test them at the same time you'll notice their bases are nearly identical. MI has alot of fruity sweetness going on that you hardly notice this shared base, where as EROLFA has an initial burst of citrus that gives way to a very salty marine. MI also as some of that salty marine thing going on (another huge similarity) but it's downplayed in MI where as its the star of EROLFA. In fact it's pretty much what EROLFA is, it's very very prominent. MI and EROLFA are so obviously made by the same hand, though not twins they are brothers. And I can see how people don't like this one. Many oceanic/marine scents are to clean, synthetically so. The accord in EROLFA is a more realistic ocean essence, reminiscent of slightly dirty tidewater brine. Personally I find it extremely comforting. It's in my top 6 favorite Creeds and still more wearable than the strong majority of what's out there. As with all expensive fragrances sample first for safety. 8.2/10

leatherorrisviolet

As with all Creeds, over-applying and experiencing that opening is organismic. After that, it is immediately apparent that this is one of the most overpriced fragrances on sale. I’d say it’s tied with Tom Ford Neroli Portofino for that title. Do I like it more than NP? Yes, but not by much. Erolfa used to be bolder. It has now turned into a shadow of its former self. I got my bottle in a trade, but I realistically wouldn’t spend over $50 for a bottle of the reformulated stuff. Please release a stronger version of this Creed, and also lower your comical prices…..

HammerDownRollIn

Not bad, but too old fashioned. I wouldn’t wear this if you’re less than like 60. That said, as far as old fashioned fragrances go this isn’t bad.

And this does NOT smell like Millesime Imperial.

The reviews below had me really excited. Some of y’all should be copywriters. Indeed, some of y’all may well be paid copywriters. 🧐

My favorite Creed: Spice and Wood.

wrath98

One of my favorite warm weather fragrances. Very office safe like most others in this style but I feel like this one exudes class so it's even better for a formal work environment. Only small complaint is I wish it could last a bit longer considering the price. Still worth it.

lithohydrobio

meant only for vacation, not meant for doing anything important or stressful. If stressful thing like at work, this fragrance will actually turn sour.

iconic open sky at sea air with beautiful rain clouds in the distance. Golden ambergris is used here.

oldwaves

I tested this because I saw a thread suggest it as an aquatic/seafoamy fragrance, and I've been looking for one that fits that mold.

The initial hit wakes you up a bit. This is very lemony at the top, but that's about it. As it fades it gives off that suncreen vibe, but also gives off the Lysol/rough cleaning product vibe.

It's just...not very good, imo. Actually I think it sucks.

I agree on the consensus that it's a daytime fragrance for summer. You could wear it at the beach, but you're better off with sunscreen.

Edit: I just gave this another try - it smells like armpit. This is the single worst fragrance I have tried.

PERaven

After collecting and exploring for well over 10 years, I have made Erolfa my warm weather signature scent. I have lost count of how many fragrances I have smelled and owned in all this time and Erolfa stands out to me. Nothing else really smells like it! Although it has some similarities to Millisime Imperial, it is not the same. Erolfa has something unique that evokes the feeling of both wealth and a Mediterranean coast line. A really classy and enjoyable fragrance that I hope to always be able to own.

ahsif

to me, it is top 3 Creed's fragrance!

JonnyBadass

Weak performance, yet still one of my favorites to spray on after a shower. The perfect scenario to wear this is if you’re on vacation somewhere by the ocean - you’ve just showered at the resort after a day on the beach, you throw on some comfortable clothes and spray this on, mix yourself a drink to go sip on the balcony with your company while the ocean breeze blows through your hair. Smells similar to Millesime Imperial, but without the melon and more citrus in the opening.

BGBG

Salt, citrus, sage, wood.

Starbug2022

An absolutely stunning fragrance. I do enjoy and can somewhat understand the Creed Imperial comparison but it's only in the salty marine note. Erolfa to me is - along with Bois du Portugal and Green Irish Tweed - in my top three creeds and perhaps top five all time favourites.

Longevity is decent, sillage less so. To me this is a fragrance you'd wear for yourself and only for yourself. It's not a compliment generator or room filling signature. It's just a perfectly blended and rather sadly underappreciated Creed. With that being said, the overall rating awarded to to this scent by my fellow fragrantica users show that this lesser known creed is of the highest quality.

Luxurious masculine broiling sea scent. I can picture myself wearing this nautical masterpiece on the deck of my dayglow yellow pedalo as I expertly navigate the local pond.

Docplaya

This is a solid fragrance for high heat. I like it better than Millésime Impérial. I do get the citrus and melon notes. However, there are better aquatic freshies out there for a fraction of the price. Again, EROLFA is good but not a must have.

b1ad3

Man I love this stuff! I was so disappointed when my wife made the comment that it just smells like fresh soap. She has a much more sensitive nose than I, so I am shocked that I find this much more complex than her. To me this is such a bright, green, citrus, salty fresh sea breeze! Love, love, love. I have to bump this up another half-point.

Scent: 4.5/5
Longevity: 4/5
Sillage: 3/5

Baccarat Racquets

The similarities of this and Millesime Imperiale are very striking for fragrances belonging to the same house. After sampling near enough every fragrance they currently offer, this stands above the rest for me, including Aventus. This smells of wealth, sophistication and excellence centred around a beautiful Mediterranean and modern dna that just oozes perfection. Why this doesn't have the following that Aventus does I don't know, or even that of Millesime Imperiale.

PapaTLooch

The first thing I’ll say is if you don’t like ambergris you won’t like Erolfa. This is one of those mysterious fragrances that I’ve come to love because it’s just so complex and unusual. It smells like a salty ocean with a fresh fruitiness, but there’s another whole dimension to it that’s hard to put into words. I’ll admit that when I first smelled it I found it to be too strange and somewhat musty but there was something very enchanting about it that made me keep going back. Eventually I grew to love it and bought a full bottle with no regrets. It’s definitely not one to blind buy and requires a more experienced nose to appreciate, but well worth trying a sample of. With all that said, I do prefer Royal Water just slightly over Erolfa. The two definitely have some similarities.

This was the first Creed fragrance I fell in love with when trying Creeds out in a high end store in 2019. It was genuine love at first “sight”. I tried all the popular Creed:s but they didn’t scratch the itch like this one did.

I bought three 100ml bottles immediately that day since the pricing was right ($260/bottle) and I’ve been wearing this wonderful fragrance regularly since and I’m half way through my 3rd bottle as of right now.

In my current batch (19R01) the basil & bergamot are both extremely obvious in the very opening. While the lime comes a little later. I am loving the ambegris, gingery and bergamot pleasing dry down a lot.

This batch lasts me a confident and comfortable 3 hours of good projection until it becomes a skin scent - the last two hours. 5h tot.

I am however investing in a 120ml bottle from my birth year (2003) very soon. I have heard older batches are a lot greater in terms of both longevity and sillage.

10/10 summer fragrance and EASILY my favorite Creed. Absolutely gorgeous scent overall.

A very much fitting outfit for Erolfa would be a long sleeve navy blue linen shirt, over a plain white t-shirt. Roll up your sleeves to just under your inner elbows. A nice watch - Omega Sea-Master (blue) or a Tudor BB58 (blue). A well fitting pair of beige chino shorts, a brown leather belt and a pair of brown leather loafers/navy blue trainers. (No show socks of course). No headwear or a beige fedora with a navy blue or white band - no in between. Eye wear - choose as you please.

Definitely not a safe blind buy but you can definitely learn to enjoy this (like I did with Aventus. I literally gagged when I first smelled Aventus and now I find it wonderful).

Moein_Ashraf

Erolfa is one of the most fragrant perfumes . Marine, cool and enjoyable . The only drawback is low Longevity . Erolfa was launched in 1992 . Perfume Longevity : Low - Suitable for hot weather . Dominant Notes : Ambergris, Melon & Citrusy Notes .

GoToDMC

This is the perfect example of a 10 out 10 scent. Summer in a bottle. The complaints about sillage and projection are just something wrong (in my opinion) when you are in front of this type of frag. Creed is something special and is totally fine to smell "inoffensive" for others, especially in hot days. When you realize that smelling beautiful is NOT to fill a room with your presence you just understand that houses like Creed are the real deal in the fragrance game.

merriman

This is simply a masterpiece of a fragrance. Forget Millésime Imperial and try this stuff! It's the most beautiful fruity sea breeze i know!

The first time i sprayed this scent, i was shocked as it smells a bit off-putting in the opening. I cannot name the off-putting note but it reminded me of a busy public restroom in an okay-ish way.

However, after 20 minutes the fragrance evolves towards this elegant, somewhat fruity and slightly spicy Chypre. It makes you dream of chill day on a yacht wearing a funky shirt, sipping on some champagne. Unfortunately, the major downside is its longevity, which for me can't make it past the 3 hours mark. If you're just looking to discover new scents, i highly recommend to sample Erolfa, as everything is perfectly blended together!

Personally, due to its weak performance and moderate sillage, a full bottle is not worth! I think every man from 25 up can wear this. It will provide a great confidence boost for the younger people and transform the more mature ones into rich and fun men. The scent works best during high heat, as i found it to project a lot more.

In four words: "yacht, sea-breeze, fruity, salty"

Yalcin05

Update: the Melon note is now detectable and the sharp clean green line opening is so good! It’s a skin scent after an hour, but in warmer weather it shines for at least 8 hours on the skin. Under my shirt even 24 hours. So nothing wrong here.. older formulation where bite more thick, true but still erolfa is an amazing scent. You feel good, rich and clean for the hot days! Miles better than a MI in my opinion. Batchnymber 19S01

Krasseman

Try it ON SKIN, not on paper! It's really two completely different scents.

Very underrated fragrance, definitely up there with Aventus and GIT fighting for the number one spot.

I'm so glad I gave this a real try. Perfect summer scent.

heylegros

Excuse my ignorance, but since I've never smelled Millesime Imperial, I am not in a position to compare the two, as apparently, they're quite similar in many ways. That being said, I think Erolfa bears strong similarities with Green Irish Tweed, especially when it comes to those prominent green notes. There is this popular saying among fragrance aficionados about GIT "smelling like money".

To me, Erolfa smells like money, both figuratively and literally. It feels like smelling dollar bills taken from a rich fraghead's wallet.

The dry down does not feel as fresh and breezy as GIT's, though. Instead, you get a greener, fuller scent, one that really exudes class, wealth and maturity in a different way than what GIT achieves. With GIT, the green, grassy notes are especially strong in the opening, whereas they're not as potent in Erolfa's opening, but remain a more potent part of the composition throughout (and it's a more linear composition than GIT, mainly for that reason).

It's also a busier scent with a combination of musk and ambergris that persists throughout the experience, a woody backbone, and an opening that is very citrusy. That lime note, especially, is quite potent, and bridges those top citrus notes beautifully with the green notes. However, because of that accord, the green notes don't feel grassy at all.

To me, this is something that I would wear in the spring and summer mostly, and probably during the day. It would make a pretty good office scent, in my view. I am a bit disappointed with the performance, though, as this seems to project only moderately for a few hours, and then linger as a skin scent past the three- or four-hour mark at best.

As I mentioned earlier, Erolfa exudes a whole lot of maturity, so I would not recommend it to anyone in their early twenties, unless you wear a dress shirt and a tie on a regular basis. Sure, anyone can wear what they want whenever they want, but given that this is a spring/summer scent, although it's definitely fresh and clean, I assume that the younger crowd will probably lean towards something lighter, and not as busy.

All in all, this is a classy composition that smells expensive and quite green for as long as it lasts. But unfortunately, at that price point, the performance is quite underwhelming. This is a fine scent regardless, and one that I'm happy to use every now and then, which means that I'll stick to the sample that I was given for free at my barbershop rather than buy a bottle for a ridiculous amount of money.

In a few words: The smell of dollar bills taken out of a wealthy man's wallet, figuratively and literally.
Pros: Classy, mature, green and fresh smell, with a clever use of the lime note to bridge those green notes with the citruses. Nice woody backbone too.
Cons: Pretty underwhelming performance, especially considering its steep price.
Overall rating (out of five stars): ★★★

Stoopid Phresh

This used to be my joint back in 2016...the lime note was realistic and fresh!
I tried it now in 2022 and it's been dialed back a bit. Why do these fragrance companies start making weaker batches?

hfiebert

Great smell, no longevity. The story of Creed.

amine23894

I agree with IamdrinkingBeer, for summer Erolfa is better than MI, it is so refreshing and it's also more masculine
Erolfa has a deep calming effect just like the effect of its brother GIT

IamdrinkingBeer

It's an unbelievably hot scorching summer's day, you put this on, and everything is suddenly alright with the world. A true gem from Creed that deserves much more love. This smells like clear blue sea in the middle of the summer, it's extremely photo-realistic in that way. I liked MI, but recently i came to realize this is the true summer champion.

Arber Cami

This is a weird mix of citrus, green notes, pine, jasmine and oakmoss. Its all not well blend I really dont like it, disappointing release from Creed.

Yalcin05

I miss that lemon, pepper ginger start of the older batches. I have a 2019 batch tough bought few days a go in a official creed retailer. They had no 2020 or 2021. The tester was strong and the opening as the older ones.. but after trying the tester i was happy that they didn’t reformulated this one.. I bought it and guess what: weak extreme soft opening. I only get sea notes, littlee bittle melon, bergamot and that’s it. From a very rich 90ies summer scent to a weak soft cheap scent. Can’t love creed they did it again and again. Hope it will macerate with time and get to what is used to be

FreshLiving

It’s a good summertime type scent. It’s a niche take on an expected smell. It won’t blow anyone away but you’ll smell presentable and non-offensive.

I could see one wearing this year-round. It’s not evocative or polarizing. Simply smells good without being cheap. For me personally, it doesn’t have enough complexity or depth, and it’s just too much salt/marine for me, and I’d say that is my least favourite style of fragrance. Marines for me usually give me the sense that I want to sneeze or there is gravel going up
my nose.

Very pricey for poor performance as well. I’m sure for these two reasons alone you could find a cheaper alternative and dish out the money on Creed when it’s a ‘must have’.

5/10 from me.

Schirmy

The best aquatic for me, and arguably my favorite Creed. Performance isn't great.

Cbenesko

Fancy dryer sheets, but I can’t stop sniffing myself when I wear it. Not blind buy worthy or unique. Get a sample. Nice but not wow.

Panos Serras

Amazing Fragrance and very unique. I try almost all the Creeds I also own some of them and without doubt this is the best in terms of smell, maybe not the best performance in terms of sillage and projection, although the longevity is very good, if you want something to get notice don’t buy it but if you are a collector and you are looking for something to really put a smile on your face and generally a fragrance that you will enjoy, I think is the best option!

Ksj_

My lord, this smells incredible. But it lasts for 30 minutes without any push. Also, this sits close to the skin and you get nice wafts of it here and there. For this price point? Haha…

Haha…

To not have "marine" or "aquatic" listed as accords for EROLFA is an unpardonable sin. It's as if whoever put this accord list at the top of this Fragrantica page completely misinterpreted this scent. And the AI-generated "con": "Misinterpreted as a marine or aquatic fragrance by some", is just complete nonsense! Just go over to the Creed boutique site and read their description of EROLFA. By comparison, Millesime Imperial is similar to EROLFA, but with much less salty sea accord than EROLFA, and has "marine" and "salty" listed as the top two accords. And the "fresh" accord 3rd from the bottom? Nope. Would you say "powdery" is a more prominent accord than "fresh" in EROLFA? Of course not. The dominant and persistent accord, which according to one source is constructed with helional, lyral, hedione, dihydromercinol, and ambergris tincture 5%, does indeed conjure up sea spray from "sailing the open sea on a vintage wooden ship". The best marine/oceanic fragrance ever. And performance for me is much better than the reviews suggest on here. But I spray on clothes.

The Wolf

Opening is astringent and bracing. Moves to the top notes of citrus with maybe a hint of pine and nutmeg. Well blended and hard to pick out individual notes straight away. It transitions rather quickly on my skin to salty ambergris and beechwood.

It does resemble Millésime Impérial from the aquatic standpoint but with less fruit and more woody aromatic feel.
It also performs better than Millésime Impérial.
I layered them today and it works to give MI some bite.

Reminds me of sailing the open sea on a vintage wooden ship 🚣
Leans masculine IMO.

II spent my 10th Anniversary Trip with my wife in San Diego and had a list of scents I wanted to refresh my mind about. Erolfa was last on the list, but after smelling it on the card, I was incredibly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I kept the card with me as we continued to shop and loved the mid almost as much as the opening, so I went back and sprayed it into the inside of my elbow...

A week later I purchased a bottle from a verified discounter (not that I don't think this is worth the price tag, it's just Creed prices and the grey market exists for a reason). The Batch Code is 20B01N and I've worn it 4 or 5 times since getting my bottle and while the opening is incredible, the mid on this batch isn't quite as good as what I experienced in the store, but what I am noticing is that as time wears on, the performance and scent has grown as it has macerated.

The opening is this bright, lime-bergamot-over-lemon punch which is so beautifully satisfying that it is hard to describe. That punch is subtly punctuated by a sharp tone which is definitely the caraway, which provides a nice sort of "end" to the opening as it makes its jaunt through your olfactory system.

While it's common to rag on Creed for any number of reasons, this scent is a perfect example of how great the house is at exquisitely layering the notes within their fragrances. The mid BEGINS with that caraway punctuation and then moves into notes (in this batch at least) of gingery nutmeg and pepper that transitions smoothly into a brief hint of jasmine if it were rubbed onto an ambergris stone in the base.

This batch in particular goes very heavy on the muskiness of the ambergris, it's almost as if the ambergris they used for this batch was of the more "pungent" variety as you get A LOT of ambergris and musk. That muskiness eventually fades into a pleasant but too faint for my liking, bit of cedar.

My only complaint about my batch (SO FAR -- and I will update this review if things change) is that despite being wonderfully layered, the scent moves through its layers VERY quickly, with the opening fading away around the 1-2 hour mark before blitzing through the mid to that very pungent and musky ambergris base, which is what lingers for hours 3-6.

I'm getting about 7-8 hours of longevity out of it, and what I have noticed is that heat REALLY impacts the performance of this scent. While it's a great office/signature scent for the warmer months, the fragrance certainly can "revive" itself if you start sweating in the sun, which is something to keep in mind if you plan to be outdoors with it all day. You won't need as many sprays.

For me it's a damn good, near perfect summer fragrance, but does not knock Millesime Imperial off of its perch, namely because of how much more citrusy the opening is, making it similar but still not quite comparable.

filthee

@Universe360 - yes, now that you mention it, I do. There was someone below that said this had no animalic qualities... dead wrong. Now that my sample has settled it's got a strong undercurrent of dog shit - in the best possible way lol. Personally I love the stuff but I could see how it could turn some people off.

discardedandroid

Nice. I think the blurb about sailing on the Mediterranean and "marine notes" is accurate. It smells like salty, melon-y sea air. Pleasant, inoffensive, signature worthy. Makes me think of a more mature and less attention-seeking MI. VIW is vacation in a bottle for Joe Schmoe on the beach sipping a daquiri, Erolfa is like an everyday cologne for the guy on his boat off in the distance from that beach, who lives that life seamlessly, as he's not the one on vacation. Definitely worth trying. Highly recommend.

Universe360

Does anyone detect “bad breath” vibes on the opening?

Bfreepro417

A bit too soft and floral for me. It’s absolutely a quality scent and well crafted, but I don’t find it to have the “wow factor” that many other Creed fragrances do. This feels more way unisex than Millesime Imperial and Silver Mountain Water. I just could never see myself rocking this or buying a full bottle, it doesn’t have that refreshing beauty and invigorating feeling like MI and SMW. I’m comparing it with those because they’re all fairly light and great for warm-weather, but I feel this leans significantly more feminine than those. Well made and quality scent, just not for me :)

chrisk252

Smooth soft rounded citrus opening. Dries down to a soft pine scent with just a hint of citrus. Unique and refreshing. Not sharp or tart...which I kind of wish it was. Oddly reminds me a little of a great value citrus freshie, Rochas Homme in the soft rounded citrus.
Scent: 8
Sillage: 7.5
Longevity: 7

UPDATE (8/5/2022): Oddly enough, I'm finding it reminds me of my Millesime Imperial...the salty marine aspect of it. And obviously the general Creed vibes, including the ambergris. Not sure I need it given I have MI and other soft citrus freshies, but it's definitely nice and I'd get it if I didn't have so many similar frags.

GeorgieBoy

What a great perfume! Fantastic scent. Good performance. Classy 4oz bottle.
On my skin I get a lot of lime and salty ambergris, maybe some other citrus notes.

Everything Apocalypse down below said is spot on! Great review especially the performance part. Completely agree that you and anyone important that is close enough can get a really good smell of this. The wife really enjoys this one on me!

Apocalypse6vs8

Just a classy, clean and feel good scent made for the warmer days but, one can wear this year round as a signature scent without a single issue. Yes, it's ridiculously overpriced for a scent that stays close to the skin within 45 mins to an hour after spraying. But, the creation of this juice with the quality ingredients used in the melding of those natural components is simply superb. It's a scent/fragrance that one wears to please yourself and loved ones that get close to you. The ambergris, musks, citrus and soft woods coupled with the aquatic marine green notes provides a delicious and delicate scent journey that I've caught myself at times stopping and quickly turning around to breath in that wonderful trailing sweetness and light woods.

If you like scents that scream or jump off of your skin announcing to the public around you that your here and presently accounted for, stop right here because EROLFA is definitely not for you. There are thousands upon thousands of fragrance attention grabbers available that will fill that need to be noticed and ultimately acknowledged for practically all of eternity. And if that's your thing, by all means go for it.

Creed EROLFA is a genuine superb creation that exemplifies clean, understated yet confident and serene masculinity in every drop. It's majestic in how it translates sophistication and simplicity in one fell swoop.

If heavily discounted my fellow frag heads, don't hesitate in acquiring this elixir. Supremely underrated fragrance from the house of Creed......

monkey500

I get lots of ambergris & violet on the opening mixed with soft rosemary herbal notes which, as an ensemble, makes me think I’ve layered AdP’s Colonia Essenza over Creed’s Green Irish Tweed… it’s a very nice smell but since I already have both Essenza and GIT it renders Erolfa somewhat redundant.

However, if you like both Essenza and GIT but have neither then you’ll love Creed Erolfa.

Performance: not much projection or sillage… which is a shame for the price - within an hour Erolfa has receded to a soft albeit beautiful light & aromatic scent.

WGG

Very lovely light spring/summer fragrance. Distinctive, few would own, signature worthy. Performance is moderate and the price ludicrous.

I've tried 3 different batches of this, 2020, 2014 and 2010. Of the three the older the batch, the better they are. As someone who despises animalic smells, dont worry about older batches stinking like cat piss or anything, they dont, and they're absolutely amazing.

The biggest difference between my older batches and the newer ones are that the older they are, the less alcohol there is in the opening, and the more ambergris there is. I'm not sure whether it's to do with maceration and aging, but im almost certain that a lot of ingredients have been cut out.

2020- Almost 80% aldehydes, salt and alcohol with no fruitiness, only really a salty cucumber smell, lasts 3 hours, weak/moderate projection.

14A01- Keeps some of the salty freshness of the 2020 batch but also has some of the melon, oakmoss, nutmeg and fruitiness that the 10L01 has. If you're having trouble finding a 2010 batch, this is the go-to and honestly a bit more wearable. Has the aspects of 10L01 that give it a good 4-5 hour performance and is a pretty good balance between the two. Weaker projection though.

10L01- Absolute monster, gives me the same vibe that 2016 and earlier aventus does, dark and super powerful. Lasts 10 hours and fills the room easily while still being summery and alluring. I dont think i've smelled anything that can be fresh while being so dark at the same time and honestly think you could pull it off year-round. The only issue is you have to go light on sprays because the early atomisers spray a tonne. I got a bargain on facebook, $150 aud for a 2/3 full 75ml bottle, but i'd gladly pay 300 aud for the same thing.

After a day of sampling perfumes in London in the high heat of summer this is the one both me and my partner thought was just fantastic. I can’t believe it was created in 1992. Timeless is the word. Extremely signature worthy. Surprised at some of the notes, like melon. It’s well blended though, difficult to pick out particular notes although it’s clearly citrusy fresh with a musky backbone. Simply gorgeous 10/10

EDIT: So I’ve smelled this again since and it surprised me how different it seemed. I’m now wondering if I had Erolfa and Himalaya mixed up! It would explain my surprise about the melon note which I can clearly smell this time round. Will have to test that theory and report back.

obahnas

I sampled this today. While the description says 1992, I say this is timeless. I do love it, a lot.

The pepper-cyclamen-jasmine heart is just breathtaking!

Very subtle and chic, an understated fragrance for a true gentleman.

Lmuradian

Erolfa is so slept on its ridiculous. I've been wearing Erolfa as one of my signature scents for years. It's a salty fresh fragrance but its done so well i have a couple of older bottles I can't comment on the new formulations but anytime i wear this i get wow you smell amazing. I say it's Creed before i can finish which creed it is automatically they say is it Aventus. But no it is not! i hope they never discontinue this one from the Creed Portfolio . Recommended in the very high heat ,beach and or pool side.

Scent: 8.5/10
Performance 7.5/10 -Oversprayed

This is probably my favorite Creed. It can be found for much lower than the silly Creed asking price which I personally wouldn’t pay for it, or any other Creed. As some other have said it’s got a nice salty, marine smell, but it never goes over the top on the saltiness. It does seem odd that they don’t list salt as a note. It’s not a screamer for projection as it doesn’t radiate too far and after an hour or so sits closer to the skin. On my skin it lasts about 6 hours or so. Overall it’s a nice oceanic fragrance with some citrus notes (which aren’t loud), musk and woodsy vibes. I almost wish the citrus scent would be more pronounced but I’m happy with my bottle as it stands. I have Creed MI and it’s in a similar vein, but isn’t as heavy.

b1ad3

Heavenly green/salty/citrus fragrance. How are there no sea notes in this??? Just as others have mentioned, I am transported with this fragrance to smelling that salty sea breeze, but I still also get almost all the notes so clearly. One of the best options there are for summer heat. IMHO, more complex, better, and more masculine than MI. Not dissing MI, but Erolfa is in a class of its own. Absolute love, and a must have summer fragrance.

Scent: 4/5

I got a sample of this when ordering another Creed. I liked it enought to buy myself a full bottle. I'm reviewing the C3119PO1 batch. So here are my toughts..

After opening up with a very natural refreshing citrus blast, the scents settles down to an citrus aquatic scent with a woody backbone. The ambergris is giving the fragrance a bit of a salty vibe in the drydown.. and let me tell you what a nice drydown it is! . The scent has an air of class and sophistication surrounding it!

Performance is still good for a fresh frangrance.. projection is good for about 1.5 to 2 hours.. After this, the scent settles down and comes closer to the skin. Longivity is 7+ hours. The scent seems to embrace heat and seems to shine harder when it's hot outside!

A summer staple and a keeper in my collection!

Nooshin (Atghia)

While there are several more famous creed fragrances in the market, it seems that one old shining star has long been forgotten. It’s “Erolfa”. My lovely new fragrance. Meanwhile it has some similarity in seaside vibe with Millésime Impérial but I prefer Erolfa, because of its great fresh and fruity melon smell which lasts till the end.

mrluctoretemergo

As in response to the last 3 reviews this smells nothing like aqua di giò which i hate btw...Erolfa is a superclassy lemony seasalty masterpiece imho...10/10

Ksj_

Smells like a dirty version of Di Gio

SherlockH

The Top Notes of Erolfa is very similar to Acqua di Giò. For me, it also has a touch of ‘Cool Water’ about it. The citrus is an instant hit, and I much prefer the initial punch from Erolfa.

Unfortunately, for me, Erolfa dissipates into almost an occasional intimate whiff. This is disappointing as it makes it nearly impossible to get the middle and base notes of Erolfa to even comment on. It’s very subtle and needs topping up. Perhaps I’m disappointed as I prefer longevity and a more powerful fragrance.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the scent of Erolfa. It’s definitely a Spring/Summer aquatic fragrance. I would just like it to go on long enough to get a middle or base note at the end without having to really sniff and try hard to find it.

blueyonder

It reminds me a lot of Acqua di Gio, but much smellier. Acqua di Gio smells like nothing, this is the same but saturated to the most cloying extent. Definitely manufactured for people who wish to be smelly. Deliquescent fruits. Get it off me! Every Creed fragrance gives me a pulsating headache and makes me want to throw up. Most overrated house.

JEDI 2.0

Tis the season to start breaking out this old salty dog again!!

Late Spring/Summer in a bottle. It's a vacation for your nose and mind. It's PERFECT. Literally perfect.

m2k

This smells like woods and ambergris baking on a beach, with spices and violet in the background. It smells fantastic and is widely appealing.

I instantly loved it, but in the drydown, knew I'd smelled it before, and only recently realized it was because it smells very similar to Jake by Hollister (I have the brown bottle, from around 2010 -- but have read the current bottles smell more or less the same). That's not a knock on Erolfa at all, I imagine Jake was an impression of Erolfa for the mall brand. Erolfa is superior in quality and 'roundness' of the fragrance.

I don't think this is really in the same grouping as Millesime Imperial and its many impressions. Even D&G Light Blue Eau Intense has a more cooling, fruity vibe in the opening, making it more similar to MI than Erolfa. MI and Erolfa mainly share that they're from Creed, they're widely-appealing and comforting, and they're aquatic and fresh.

Erolfa could be worn by any age, or time of year (but especially spring and summer), whereas MI would probably be worn by a younger person - but still enjoyed by all.

amazoo122

BEFORE YOU RETURN IT RIGHT AWAY GIVE IT A FEW TRIES. At first I was going to send this straight back, but I decided to give it a few more tries and realized how pleasant it is. This is not an in ur face fragrance that yells at everybody that passes by. Instead it is like a light airy cloud that follows you around and people near by will notice it but not become annoyed by it.

sumandre

Erolfa travelled to the Mediterranean with me on a European holiday. Positano in Amalfi, Lido in Venice, Tuscany and through France. The must have for a European summer. Salty, citrus and marine. One of the best in the Creed line.

Bruton Gaster

Was very skeptical of this and dismissed it initially. On paper the sample had a strange almost fishiness to it so I just put it away. Something compelled me to try it again, and this time on skin, and WOW what a difference. A great green/aquatic/salty fragrance. Feels like a clean, musky ocean breeze. I see some say a more refined or mature Millésime Impérial which I can understand. IMO it's more accurate to describe it as a more masculine Millésime Impérial, which is exactly what I was looking for as MI is a little too fruity/floral for my taste. FB now in my collection and I love it!

InfinitEHorizoN

Oh wow, what a beautiful creation is this - EROLFA. If there was a heaven with blue skies, calm oceans, sandy beaches and never ending blossoming flowers I imagine that there would smell like EROLFA.
This is what you call a masterpiece! At least for me it is. I know there are few other chypre creations like Costa Azzurra etc. I love it too don't get me wrong. It's just EROLFA for me is the fragrance that I keep close to my heart, it reminds me of warmth, summer, vacation and love. If Creed family decided to use letters from their family names to brand the fragrance I bet it was that much important to them. We can all taste the significance of EROLFA with just one spray, is all it takes, one spray.

El dukhy

This is a great perfume, fresh manly summer scent, some were telling it doesn't preform well but actually it does preform amazingly on my skin I get about solid 4 hours of projection , and around 12 hours on skin. I don't know if it is skin nature or patch variation but I love what I have.

chimera87

I love the drydown on this one... Gosh it's the best part of wearing a Creed!
Creed MI has a smoother drydown but I feel Erolfa's base was a precursor to the innovation in MI. Love both of them!
Every Gentleman must experience the drydown on both these Creed Originals...

I was craving Erolfa this Winter morning. I thought of it as a Summer fragrance, and so it is. But it's a fun fragrance for cold, as it has a lot of spiciness and complexity.

It reminds me of an old Guerlain like Lupin Voyou, but more playfull. Love the mellon note, gives a soft fruitiness.

Are some of you guys reviewing the same bloody scent?

Toilet cleaner?
Like GIT?

gucciguccigoo

Beautiful salty aquatic. I really love this in the summertime it makes me think about being on a boat with the scent of the sea air and the sounds of waves hitting the sides of the boat and birds in the air. The quality of this scent is tremendous.

Stwmylos

Wonderful and balanced fresh scent with a familiar but refined vibe. The base is extremely good. This fragrance's scent trail is to die for.

I would love to own a bottle of it, but given the price and that I can achieve a similar effect with other substitutes, I have doubts whether it is worth it or not.

Uh..who am I kidding? I want it..
Actually, I bought a bottle.

A genuine love for the scent.

10/10

thedjay

It's a brilliant scent with poor lasting.

marcel2782

This is the most beautiful and elegant sea aroma you'll ever want to exhale from yourself. Like said before, it evokes an animalic vibe, as expected from any respectful chypre (some may associate it with sweat - initially, I confess I did; but it passes as you reach a better understanding of the fragrance as a whole). At the dry-down it will most often be percepted as a very truthful "high seas" smell, a 3D accurate sea smell to my nose, unique in the whole industry. The performance is so-so...just below average, but still satisfying. Nevertheless, managed to get into my wish-list.

updog

Definitely the best blue I’ve ever worn. I especially love how smooth and calming the drydown is. My only complaint is that occasionally the pepper is a little too pronounced (but not at all overpowering). Easily a 9.9/10 and belongs in any man’s collection. Batch C3119P01

This is your weapon of choice if somehow you land on a yacht at the Cote d'Azur! The citrusses, the ambergris, your boat cutting through the waves on a perfect sunny day in August. This is one of the greatest summer fragrances of all time!

liketheboys

You spray it on, and you think, oh no, it is going to smell like Acqua de Giò, but then it develops in altogether richer ways, with a fresh, old-world ambergris exacerbating the fruity sourness, salty notes and a light aromatic touch. Yes, i do feel like I’m eating a fruit on the beach facing the ocean. But why am I wearing a beige suit and eating the thing standing up, with a fork...? That does not fit me, but maybe it fits you.

Unmodernize

I have a tester strip and I smelled it yesterday. Picked it up again today to smell the remains. I got the smell of "old person". Literally, a very old lady's skin - maybe after freshening up with soap. Needless to say, I wouldn't plan on wearing this as a youthful feeling man. It doesn't smell bad or offputting at all, just very light and very mature vibe (from a strip this is).

Callum

This is definitely an underrated Creed scent imo. Lovely crisp, fresh fruity-marine fragrance at the beginning. Once the fruity top notes dies down you have a nice green/marine smell. I'd like this in my collection as a marine option as my other marine choice would be Tom Ford Oud Minerale, but that is very different - salty, gritty, dirty and stoney. However, not sure it's worth it as it doesnt last too long - saw someone say they mentioned the same thing to a Creed rep who said it was because it's hard to make citrus frgarances last. Would definitely buy if I was rich!

echo4kilo

Like all of Creed's fragrances this is a really nice, high quality fragrance. It smells very fresh like a day at the beach. It reminds me of a toned down Virgin Island Water.

mixter99

Like the grandpa of Millisime Imperial, kind of sour in not the best way, on skin much better though. If you are under 30 get MI, if you are over 30 get this, smells more mature and classy, although I prefer MI much more.

For me 7/10

ts4r

This used to be a good perfume. Used to.

It's been butchered to a tenth of the perfume it was.

Andy the Frenchy

Stunning sea/salty/hint of green fragrance, that doesn't fall into the trap of Acqua di Gio -style aromachemicals. Simply great!

Summer days, 20+

Update: I know own it. It opens with an aquatic/fruity/green combination, and the drydown is all about a piney oakmoss with a salty facet, not without reminding of the drydown of several mossy leather 80s powerhouses, and even has a tobacco facet (call me crazy if you want).
A bit less "sparkling" that what I remember from the test I did in store, but still, a small love for me.

poor_hommes_in_tents

I definitely get the photorealistic quality of imagining yourself eating fruit next to the ocean and breathing in the salty air.

However, despite the quality of the scent, it just isn't a good fit for my personal taste. The citrus fades way too quickly, and the notes that are left feel a little cloying, as though someone who just ate melon is breathing in my face. Maybe it's the ambergris base, which is typical of Creed, that just isn't working for me here. I have the same problem with Millesime Imperial. The notes that work for me just don't last long enough and the dry-down is awkward.

4/10 for me, but I can see how it might work better for some people.

Caldrumr

This is a very special scent.
Deep, rich and luxurious. Classy.
It has a pretty powerful citrus opening, which breaks out a bit into a salty melon scent, perfectly balanced with florals and citrus.
The scent is strong, and a little goes a long way. Moderate sillage, and lasts all day and then some. If this touches fabric, you can easily smell it the next day. I had a tiny bit leak slightly out of a decant, and my entire room was awash with the scent of this fragrance.
All in all, this is one of the most special scents I have ever encountered, and very underrated. A unique, timeless classic.

Edit: Although this scent is very special to me, I don't myself wear it often, so I recently went back to revisit it, and wow. I just can't get over how absolutely fantastic this fragrance is. It is stunning, and certainly one of the best from Creed. Also, unlike some others from the house, it has awesome projection and longevity.
And while it can't be compared easily with others out there, if you consider this a "blue" fragrance, I think it could easily be said to be the best you will ever smell, by a mile. Just wonderful. A true master perfumer created this.
And I noticed someone above refer to this as an animalic chypre? Huh? This is not a chypre by any means, and it is also not animalic in any way. Please don't be thrown off by ridiculous reviews like this. This is a salty, citrus aquatic all the way through. Fresh and elegant.
If you were to imagine what you would be wearing if you were out on the sea in your yacht, this would be it.
Absolutely amazing.

FreshLiving

Any Fragrance from the House of Creed will surely leave one feeling intoxicated. Their fragrances leave me feeling sophisticated and clean as they use quality ingredients; and it’s all about quality. Sometimes with certain fragrances the longevity and sillage can be a disappointment, especially for what one expects from the astronomical prices and the avenue of the niches. But this is what Creed is - high prices with okay performance. But the most important part, the scent, is what a person is really after. To me a scent isn’t for anyone else; it’s for me. Most scents should be worn for only those people who will get close enough to us anyways. I don’t think fragrances should be smelled on me before I even walk through the door or linger for 5 minutes after I’ve left. A Fragrance is merely the cherry on top of everything else. It sets the vibe for that outing. It imbues me with a feeling.

The distracting thing about Fragrance reviews is we never know who is reviewing them and their tastes with how much they like to have on. People can shout weak sillage on here but that person may be the one who likes everyone in the office or store to know they are wearing a Fragrance. And everyone has been somewhere where you can taste someone’s fragrance. And that’s just not a good time.

So when it comes to the review of Erolfa... it smells like you’re sitting on the beach at sunset after having been in the surf all day. The crystals of salt beaded on your skin and feeling the low hovering sun on your face while the warm breeze pouring off the waves enshrouds you, with the freshness of the woods behind you. Woods and Ocean water while someone is peeling a citrusy fruit in the distance that you can smell very faintly. It’s so clean and calming, it’s not in your face or aggressive. It’s delightful and makes me want to lay down on the beach and just.. be.

fffaaannnggg

Very nice Creed. Classy and complicated smell, just as it supposed to be for this price.
Not very masculine, but as an everyday scent this is good.
You pay a lot and you get back more than with usual brand.

nabeelahsan

It doesn't hit me as niche quality. Does not last at all. Performance is poor. But smells really nice.
Buy it if you can afford to spray 10-15 times on each wearing

RichardB

I had a voucher to use at a local shop and wanted another Creed after Aventus. I had the option of choosing Erolfa, SMW, Viking, Vetiver or Santal. Ideally I wanted Millesime Imperial but since this was is similar, I opted for Erolfa. I’m saying this because I don’t think I would ever pay full price for this.

I get a nice juicy citrus lime/bergamot opening with a bit of watery melon (reminiscent of older aquatic fragrances hence why some feels this smells a bit dated) and then that well-known Ambergris musky dry down with a hint of salt.

I live in a hot country and like this fragrance but personally would never choose wearing this over Aventus. Longevity and projection are average on my skin (better than MI) but think MI is a superior scent and would opt for that if looking for this kind of fragrance.

raramoha

- Creed Erolfa launched 1992
- Creed Millesime Imperial launched 1995
These art pieces will remain young .... no matter how many years have passed
-I have fallen in love since the first experience of these masterpieces
- Apart from the opening in the above-mentioned scents, it contains a base of musk and sea amber that contains the salty sea smell and fruit, which has the effect of magic and may keep away from the modern summer smells of performance (beast mood ))
.
- The performance point will be explicit, the performance is not at the desired level, but with this wonderful rich, detailed smell, I will not complain of performance as children, and finally, I'm a fan of this smell

gedlive

If you like great classic fragrances, this is a classic aquatic.
It used to smell old, and I preferred the more modern Milisme Imperial. But now I am appreciating it much more. It still smells dated, but you know your smelling one of the greatest forerunners of the modern aquatic.

olaniyirex

There is a feeling that erolfa incites; only peculiar to erolfa; it's a true niche feeling, a unique feeling, especially when you wear it right. Not necessarily for work, but for relaxation; relaxation on a boat, or a yacht dressed in white, just watching the waves smash the rocks as salty ocean mist hits your face, and the gentle breeze calms your soul, and the world is alright again. Only erolfa can do that. If you know, you know.

Gonga

Not so good as the composition suggests. A little bit harsh and I can smell just too dominant citruses and barely melon and ambergris. Fades away very quickly. Not so good as any other Creed fragrances.

KoceFF

Just got this, blindbuy. The opening is sooo fresh and zesty with the lime. Projection is soft and about arm length and the longevity on me is about 8 hours. After half an hour something powdery starts to appear in the background, not to strong but after around two hours i am starring to get slightly more lemony lime Green irish tweed and it finishes like that. Anybody else smells GIT in this or is it just me.

Olfactory Obsession

My first taste of Creed was in mid-90's when I visited their store in Paris. Erolfa and Millesime Imperial were the first fragrance I bought that time. I forgot about this fragrance until last month when I was at Saks 5th, the SA at Creed counter handed me a bottle of Erolfa to try. I was planning to buy the GIT but after spraying Erolfa in my wrist I felt reunited with my lost love. Right there and then, my love for this frag was renewed and ended up going home with Erolfa.

Erolfa is bright, fresh and easy on the nose. Anyone can rock this fragrance any time of the day, you can wear this with a white T or a suit. The violet and watermelon blends perfectly with other notes. I love the citrus note here, together with that acquatic seaweed vibe, this reminds me of Capri or any island paradise somewhere in the far east. Erolfa is one of the best Spring - Summer frag out there.

CheMalik

This might be the most slept-on fragrance in the creed lineup. A salty, aquatic, Mediterranean air kind of scent, with a hint of melon and citrus thrown in for good measure. This masculine scent has pretty good performance (6+ hours on my skin) with a projection of about 2ft. Easily one of my most complemented fragrances in my collection. A high heat/summer masterpiece!

MNadz

Absolutely beautiful opening! Stunning! Extremely natural citrus scents with a breezy quality in the background. Just for the opening I would recommend getting a decant.

Dry down is pleasant and perfect for Spring/Summer. Beautiful floral/green vibe. The Creed family did a great job capturing the notes of “being outside” somewhere exotic.

Longevity is not great...4/5 hours regardless of skin/clothes. Projection is pretty good for an hour or so, before settling down to a nice close scent aura...a little bit more than a skin scent.

Final recommendation...everyone should experience this if you are into fresh outdoorsy DNAs. Get a decant and enjoy it for a few days. Is it worth a full purchase...only if this is your go to DNA, otherwise kind of hard to drop the coin on it. Happy I bought the decant, but will stop at that.

6opar

I have 5 Creeds. 1 (Original Vetiver) is mostly good and 4 are great (Millésime Impérial, Royal Mayfair, Aventus and Green Irish Tweed)
Erolfa is neither.
I know there are people who love it. Some years ago it was recommended to me by a lavish blonde. While talking about Erolfa her smiling eyes were saying stuff her words would not express.
Now that i have tried it a couple of times I can say that to me it smells like a pretentious outtake from Bvlgari's aquatic series.

I wanted to love EROLFA. As a huge fan of MI, and yes, Aventus, I thought that this might be the saviour of the poor longevity and sillage I experienced with MI, despite its utterly fantastic scent having grown on me.

EROLFA immediately reminded me of Drakkar Noir, perhaps because of the pine. It definitely is from 1992.

Dry down gets fruitier, but everything else is lost in the mix... Sillage is also underwhelming, despite two sprays to the back of the hand an hour and a half ago.

It's a musky aquatic, with random florals, to me. The ambergris is the outlier around the base, providing a really lovely undertone but it ends there, I'm afraid.

That said, it's still a fair choice for summer. It's unpopular, and you could easily make this your signature scent. Problem is... will people smell it, or come to appreciate it 27 years later?

I will be wearing this one without much worry of using up my 10ml decant, so, the high heat and heavier trigger finger may produce different results over time. I may lean towards it as a safe, dumb reach for summer, who knows.

For now, however, I'm largely unimpressed and disappointed. Still, grateful to have sniffed my third Creed. Royal Mayfair up next.

Undetectable on skin after twelve hours.

gregk

Over time EROLFA has really grown on me to become my favorite Creed, placing Aventus in 2nd. I haven't found another aquatic quite like it. It's a melony-sea spray with a strong dose of salty ambergris - the best use of ambergris I've yet to experience - and also the closest olfactory representation of being near the ocean. A lot of people have mentioned that Bvlgari or Nautica give the same experience. This is leagues beyond those in my opinion. There is no discernable strong calone presence or anything cheap about it. It even has a decent dose of florals which I would normally be opposed to, if they didn't work so damn well in this. The drydown brings to mind ocean mist drying up in the sun on warm beach rocks. Highly underrated, and my favorite oceanic scent

irfanabuhadi.1

One of lesser know Creeds. Best worn a warm early fall day or an end of spring coolish evening event.
Opens up with a whiff of citrus which continues on towards the middle where slightly herbal note develop. Base is surprisingly fresh mint and marine note with fimiliar ambergris getting stronger towards the end close to Creed royal water DNA albeit more floral.
Best comparison may with Devidof cool water which is slightly fresher and Acqua di Parma blue Mediterraneo which is has a stronger citrus notes.
All in all a good one to wear but not a huge a compliment getter.
May need 4 to 5 puff for good silage and last your about 7 to 8 hrs.

giuseppe98gp83

Erolfa is a scent that leaves its mark. It Reminds the Mediterranean summer. A bergamot that prevails over everything and in my opinion there is a note that fragrantica has not reported or the marine note. It is perceived together with bergamot. The fragrance costs what it costs but it is worth it all. In the summer it's a sure shot. Until now the Creed perfumes have never disappointed me (except for the price and the persistence). Great!

vlady580

I purchased a sample and wore for a day to work. Erolfa started out very citrusy but it mellowed and dried into something remarkable. I love it! I just wish it lasted longer. Three out of the four Creed fragrances I own last from the moment I put it on before work (5:30am) till I get home 12 hours later. I wish Erolfa did too. For the price I need to decide if something that only lasted 3 hours is worth the cash. Beautiful fragrance without longevity unfortunately.

chrisarcarola75

Erolfa. Creeds red headed step child. This stuff is way underrated. It's salty citrusy goodness in a bottle. I don't understand why all the bad comments on performance? This performs real well on me in the horrible heat and humidity down in SW Florida. I dare to say that all the bad reviews here are from folks that have never really given it a chance or are more into "thick" beastly middle eastern style stuff. My lady digs this on me. It's extremely clean smelling and honestly longevity and sillage are not bad at all for this genre.

bha70s

Weird, sour floral/citrusy thing. Not for me but I could see how some might like it. It's not something you smell everyday, that's for sure...

kieranlewis94

For me, I could smell quite a strong floral scent along with citrus upon first spray. Once the dry down kicked in, this turned fantastic! It turned slightly sweet but with a clean green smell and some wood notes to give it that extra push. At first I thought this was a very unisex scent, now I'm not so sure, but one thing I am sure on is that this is very much a clean, Creed scent and I love it!

When I tested this at Saks for the first time a half a year ago, I thought to myself "wow that much money for something that smells like a 7$ body spray from the drug store"? I Can honestly say I was pretty disappointed because I was really getting into Creed as a perfume house. I even took the time to come on here and leave a sort of dreary review about it.

BUT...

Then I gave Erolfa a chance. I told myself to keep and open mind and give it a full wearing.
Fast forward to the this summer and it is now my signature scent. I wear it everyday and I adore it.
@picknenders left a comment saying "This WILL grow on you over time". And I'm glad I listened because this is what a "marine" fragrance is all about.
Bright, refreshing top notes of Lime, Lemon and Bergamot.
Heart notes of Sandalwood, Pine and Caraway and Pepper.
And the pièce de résistance... the dry down... One of the most remarkable dry downs I've ever laid my nose on. (Olivier Creed is a wizard in that regard).
Creeds' signature Ambergris, and a well balanced Musk, with the rest of the notes gently fading out but still providing a body.

Released in 1992 making it one of the few early men's "aquatic" fragrances to hit the market. I can understand why people wouldn't be turned on to this at first glance. But time and time again I'm seeing comments, reviews, and videos of people all saying the same thing... "how did I walk right pass this "?.

A more bright and slightly more floral Himalaya.

I find this fragrance has the sourness of citrus, like a lemon. That is perhaps the most interesting aspect of this fragrance. I find this soft, slightly floral, slightly aquatic and almost pretty smelling.

I find this unisex but better on a mid aged women in the spring.

This fragrance could have used some soft lavender and hay, for a countryside fragrance or more grapefruit and the smell of linen for something more of a old timey city with clothes drying outside.

I find this fragrance needs some more character.

3 to 5 hours longevity moderate and then weak performance. I cannot justify the price and buy this,

olaniyirex

Creed is a favorite house in fragrances especially for bright uplifting scents, I'm sure they need no introduction.
Many people use the term "creed DNA" when describing their fragrances, it's like an artist's signature on their painting. To me, what people are describing is the clean ambergris. The house uses quality white ambergris as a backbone in many of their creations and it shows. Erolfa to me has more of the treasured ambergris in a much higher dose; this creates a clean sea breezy, melony vibe. With some added lemon, Bergamot, musk, oakmoss melon, cedar, green notes, and sandalwood, you've got yourself a daydream on a yacht ⛵, cruising on a perfect sunny day.

SimpleEffect

Smells like an old mans toilet

Arsenal Till I Die

Ok cool, it’s Creed, it’s expenive, it costs a ton, it has magic ingredients and Erolfa smells virtually in the same vein as Nautica Voyage. Easy pass. What an “underrated” bore. How people can say underrated and Creed used in the same sentence, has to be a bad joke There’s shower gels that smell similar/better than this... the only nautical voyage I’m making is away from this. I’d be half way to paying for a boat myself with the amount that this is going for.

Gumbinator

Erolfa is one of my top favorite Creed's! There is something about it that is truly remarkable! While the scent is beautiful, there are some flaws about it. One of them being mainly the performance. Initial whiff of the trigger is this beautiful summer scent of lime, melon, and something musky, masculine at it's finest for a summer scent. Initial spray you get that beautiful mixture again. I find with Erolfa, my nose goes blind shortly after application. Smelling my arm up close, doesn't do much justice, and I find you can't smell a thing. The sillage is very quiet, you will get whiffs occasionally, but it does not radiate. It sits to the skin very close, I find the only way to improve it would be wearing a unscented body lotion to help it out, or extreme heat and your body would help emit it better.

Overall, a great scent for summer.

Heaven.

It has the same DNA of mellisime imperial but with different approach and a much heavier ambergris dose.

The drydown is super beautiful with the best signature creed woody/ambergris base among the millesime lineup.

I heard a lot of complaints regarding EROLFA's longevity but surprisingly it is one of the longest lastig creeds on my skin, the drydown is still detectable after 10 hours on my skin.

Underrated big time among the rest of creeds.

tayyabforyouth

It starts off with a lot of lime and melon, and reminds me of aquatic fragrances from the 90's. There is a sort of slight metallic accord in this that reminds me of Creed Silver Mountain Water. But it's far lighter than SMV, and more airy. This is a unisex fragrance but leans a bit feminine to my nose. On the drydown I get mostly the same ozonic character of the opening with melon, some white flowers, and lime with a bit of salt. Sillage is moderate (on the weaker side) and longevity is moderate leaning strong. Overall, this is ok but I'm not really blown away by the aroma. I'm sure it was groundbreaking in the day but it is too reminiscent of basic 90's aquatics in my opinion. Although I'm a fan of the aquatic genre, they have to stand out from all the generic ones for me to be interested. In any case, this basically defines "inoffensive" and is pleasant; just not something that stands out from the crowd.

Viewing last two reviews i wanna bet they don't own/use erolfa for its purposes...

It is a safe but georgeous scent ideal for Spring and Summer.... lemony seabreazy scentgasm....

I generally like Creed fragrances, but I don't like this one. To me it smells like a horrible, cheap candy I used to get when I was a child.

360Logic

I wanted to love this one, but after dry down, this smells almost exactly like GIT with maybe a touch more citrus. So for my money, it's definitely not worth owning both. The top and middle notes are a little screechy (lemony citrus) and almost off-putting. Also, I get absolutely zero marine. Seems like the power of suggestion at work here.

If GIT didn't exist, I'd probably feel much more positive about it, but in comparison, it's a slightly less enjoyable flanker to GIT, so why spend money on both?

picknenders

Here’s my best attempt at my logical, black and white review of creed erolfa: for those who appreciate scents that are “deconstructable” - meaning you can recognize and appreciate individual aspects of the scent - this is up there with the best. For those who appreciate “a smooth blend” - this may not be for you.

In my opinion, this is one of the best creeds that is still accessible.

This is masculine.

This is classy and classic.

This is not old school.

This WILL grow on you over time.

This may not be love at first sniff.

This is a must have scent.

Ryanmmas26

Finally got a sample of this and I was a little underwhelmed if I’m being 100% honest. Erolfa isn’t horrible by any means but I definitely wouldn’t pay $20 let alone full retail for this juice and also in the base it’s very similar to Creeds Millesime imperial.

This opened up with some tart, sharp citrus with a lot of pepper in the background and once it dried down it smelled like a sharp, citrusy, breezy sea like scent. I do have to say this did remind me of being by the sea so I’ll give it points for that but I have cheap aquatic scents that I prefer over this.

Performance was actually really good as this lasted 6-8 hours but only projected moderately for pretty much the duration of the fragrance, When I wore this I would constantly get whiffs of this but it never got overbearing which I also liked as this the type of performance I prefer in fragrances.

Overall rating —-6.5 out of 10 ! Decent scent that has good performance for a summer scent but the smell I don’t hate but I definitely won’t choose this over any of even my second shelf fragrances.

From the website:
This oceanic fragrance is an ode to Creed family memories of sailing the Mediterranean: invigorating seas, salty air, and citrus-scented breezes. Not only is Erolfa a blend of nauticalinspired notes, the unique name is a mix of each family member’s name: Erwin, Olivier’s only son and perfumer protégé (ER); Olivia, Olivier’s daughter (OL); and Fabienne, Erwin and Olivia’s mother (FA). The result is Erolfa, an uplifting scent destined to make memories all its own.

Classification:
Marine/Fresh

Notes as per Creed's website:
Top note:Bergamot, lemon, orange, violet, cumin, basil, rosemary, melon
Middle note: Cyclamen, jasmine, ginger, coriander, pepper
Base note: Cedarwood, sandalwood, moss, amber, musk

My impression of EROLFA:

EROLFA to me is not a scent, but it’s a journey. A voyage. On the sea. Towards the unknown.

It opens up with a salty sea breeze of freshness with pronouncing the bitter bergamot and the zesty lemon. The opening is fresh as sunshine; with a cool breeze that brings the smell of sea salt you feel on your face, a lime cocktail in your hand with a pinch of cool, probably the basil.

Once the citrus settles down a bit you can start smelling the fresh cut melons in a bowl near while you’re still slowly sipping the cocktail in the sun. The fruity notes in it doesn’t smell like a fruit salad with creams fruity but smells like the fruit vendor on the sea beach fruity.

After awhile you’ll notice the faint spicy peppery heart is becoming prominent. And with it the citrus becomes subtle and the signature Creed’s DNA, the ambergris pops out.

It becomes softer after 2 hours or so but not as soft as a skin scent.
At this point you can barely smell the zesty bitter citrus. The salty vibe however still plays hide and seek peeping out between the ambergris, spices and the woods. Sweet, moist cedarwood. The combination of musk and cedarwood keeps it clean till the very end. The ambergris is done right in this one, in adequate amount, not too overpowering to cast a shadow on the woods and the musk.

It’s a joyful summer scent for the high heat. White shirt, docker pants, blue boat shoe and a wayfarer written all over it.

Performs around good 8 hours on me with 2 hours of good projection and another hour of soft projection. And after 3 hours it refuses to sit silently on the skin. It comes on and off with whiffs of musk, ambergris, woods and salt.

This one is another example of Creed’s use of fine ingredients.
It’s a solid 9/10 for me.

i am shocked that i've fallen for this. i am a woman. didn't know this was for men. i ordered a decant. smells like new leather, like a new car, or new leather boots, something in it reminds me of a disneyworld ride i once went on (maybe faint citrus). VERY interesting scent i like it!!! makes me feel sporty and 17 (i think that was the last time i went to disneyworld.) citrus and leather, and grass. YUM. how interesting. well i never get men's scents so maybe it's not as unusual as i think. but as a woman, it smells interesting on me and is taking me right back to disney. it puts me in a different, really good headspace.

One of my favorite Creed's next to Green Irish Tweed! I just sprayed a spritz of Erolfa from my 120ml bottle, and my, my; this is some beautiful juice! Wearing this on my arm right now gives me the feels of summer time! I bought this during the summer, and this one was my go to. I absolutely love the scent. It is a citrusy, woody, salty masterpiece. I do believe that scents do mature when left alone for awhile after application and it has been a fair amount of time since I last used Erolfa. This single spray is emitting off my arm with quite as beastly projection. This is definitely a breath of fresh air compared to the warm, and spicier scents I have been spraying during the winter season. The sandalwood, cedar, musk, and ambergris are a lovely touch to this fragrance. I am a huge fan of the dry down, and ultimately the reason I own this one. Longevity I feel is great. As I write this, I am adoring this cloud of Erolfa and wish summer would hurry up!

I own several Creed fragrances--more than twenty--and it took me a few years to warm-up to this fragrance, but I now love it and it is quickly moving up on my favorites list. To be honest, I found it to be a bit odd and I had a love-hate relationship going on for quite sometime. Erolfa opens with a burst of citrus, a bright green aura, and a salty oceanic vibe; I detect lime, melon, a woody accord and some fresh spiciness that is lightly sweetened.

After a few minutes, Erolfa settles down (soft but not a skin scent) and I perceive non-specific floral and, as someone else mentioned, a touch of eucalyptus. At least that's what I smell. A reviewer once opined that Erolfa smells like a combination of Bleu de Chaneal and Millesime Imperial. While I can understand this view, I tried tried that combo and it smells much different.

I have never been a huge fan of aquatic scents, but I do like this one. There's nothing that smells quite like Erolfa so bonus points on uniqueness. What does it smell like? Imagine taking one of those oceanic aqua fragrances having a cucumber vibe (e.g., Polo Sport, Nautica Voyage, Eternity Acqua, etc.) and blending it with Carolina Herrera Chic for Men giving it that melon, pepper, sandalwood, musk, amber and cedar thing going background and that's the vibe I get from Erolfa.

Finally, I'm not usually a batch or reformulation shill but I have a 120ml bottle (older) and a newer 75ml tester. Both bottles are fine and smell identical. However, the older bottle lasts and projects much better: 6-7 hours and moderately for one while 4-5 hours and soft-to-moderate for the other.

The reviews on YouTube for creed erolfa are for the most part slightly negative leaning, which had me a little doubtful while I was waiting for it to show up in the mail. (it was a blind buy.) Luckily I have no idea what those reviewers were talking about, this is beautiful, wearable and completely timeless. It is a green/lime-y clean musky sea salty aquatic, aside from the ocean on a sunny day, this conjures images of a (well kempt) video game arcade in a city @ night time, as well as the interior of a new car with one of those blue air freshener trees inside. Very glad I got this and didn’t listen to the YouTube reviews.

Laurdess

It has a ocean salt vibe. The opening is feminine and a little sexy. But... Its 440$ a bottle. AND...it doesn't last all day? For that price you better have the strength of a Olympian. The story behind the name is very sweet. But it's still not worth $440. I think it smells identical to Usher's cologne UR

JMG_Patriot

Pinesol liquid chemical death. Burns the nostrils.... ugh surprisingly terrible coming from the House of Creed. So thankful this wasn't the first Creed fragrance I experienced.

Black Russian

Opening is beautiful, but on feminine side. In about 20 min it start getting saltier and more masculine but less pleasant, and its sillage and projection gradually decreases from moderate to weak until its demise in about 4-5 hours. Neither scent nor performance would impress anyone, and at this price point it is definitely not a safe buy or full bottle worthy. The only reason it lasted 5 months in my collection was because it took me 4 months to find someone to trade.

SirCharles

One of the most underrated Creed scents imo. Really, genuinely reminds me of the ocean. Bit salty, bit fruity, bit spicy.

gothicsurfer

Creed Erolfa - This is a wonderful fresh aquatic fragrance. On first smell it reminds me alot of Chrome by Azzaro. I like this alot though. If I hadn't owned Chrome them I'd definitely be buying this. I love the quality of Creed fragrances though.

durdoch

smells like citrus dishwashing detergent

lukemosse

Most aquatic aquatic I've smelled. It's salt, seaweed, and quite a lot of musky ambergris. Surprisingly pungent for a Creed fragrance. I like it a lot.

PAK

A fresh, bright and clean scent. The opening is pleasant citrus and a prominent saltiness that hangs in the air. Overall, Erolfa has a nice balance of citrus, and saltiness are the not only the protagonists of this scent, but also stay throughout, and make this fragrance shine. A very nice job by Creed for a super nice summertime fragrance!

Right at the beginning, the smell of cantaloupe, bergamot and lemon, which disappears after 5 minutes. Bergamot and lemon create a sour smell. After a while, a feeling of saltiness will be added. After half an hour, it smells like a joke. At this stage, it becomes more like classic perfumes and modern perfumes. After three quarters, it will be similar to Silver Mountain Creed. It means it creates a creamy smell. At the end of the middle note and in the final notes, it is somewhat similar to Eco Universalis from the brand Maison Francis Cordijan. Of course, Arulfa is more creamy in this state and Equiuniversalis is more sweet

Regarding the fragrance, I have to say that at the end of the middle notes and all the final notes, it has a very strange smell and it lasts very long on my skin....

Big_PaPa

I checked the bottle and the batch# puts it to 2016, but I'm not feeling this AT ALL. It comes off with a hell of a big citrus front, I would be cool with this but it comes off as "cheap" and kinda smells like a bottle of cleaner that I would get at a dollar store. From there it settles to a floral scent and this is about where it ends. It just smells chintzy and weak. I've given it 1/3 of the bottle to see if I would learn to love it or anything but it's still the same. When I'm dropping off my dry cleaning I do smell the floral end of it and it's pleasant but nothing that I would say is stellar. I'm just straight disappointed with the scent and this being my first time buying Creed this doesn't give me much confidence in them.

Scent: 6.5/10

Between this, Virgin Island Water, and Imperial Millesime, this is the only one I could justify spending the money on. I love VIW, but I worry the coconut could project a "suntan oil" vibe. I liked Imperial Millesime okay, but I could barely smell it after about 20 min. To me they seemed fairly similar, but I like the violet/sandalwood combo on Erolfa a lot more than the sea salt/fruit combo on Imperial Millesime.

Most importantly (for me, at least), this one seems to have a lot better projection. I don't need everything to be "in your face" all the time, but I'd at least like to be able to smell it myself.

My favorite thing about it, is that it's got a familiar, but "can't quite put my finger on it" feeling, the same as I get with Mugler Cologne. It's like "I swear I've smelled this before, but I can't remember where." My hunch is that the violet might be reminding me of some classy women's perfumes. All around, it seems very easy going and should have broad appeal. And I don't know why it's listed as "for men" because this seems clearly unisex to me.

Kraemer

Happiness in a bottle.

Erolfa makes my heart melt. It’s an ultra fresh acquatic that smells like fresh salty air mixed with citrus, florals (violet), ripe melon, and sunshine. Nobody uses ambergris as effectively as Creed, and the signature millesime base of sandalwood and ambergris is ever present.

An effortless warm weather, daytime scent that whispers on your skin and rewards anyone you allow into your personal bubble.

Despite legitimate performance issues, this stuff is criminally underrated.

StardustHK

I find EROLFA to be quite girly and very flower- and powder-heavy. The opening reminds of VIW where the coconut seems replaced by melon. Then the powder kicks in, pushing things to the feminine side. I go with VIW for great spring/summer scent and one that also makes the darkest winter days a bit brigther. EROLFA however won't find a place in my collection, sorry.

At the beginning and right at the beginning of spraying Arulfa perfume, the smell that attracts attention; There is a cantaloupe smell, which of course does not last long, and in this short stage, It reminded me of the Skip perfume from the Calvin Klein brand. After a relatively short time; Bergamot and lemon create a sour and citrus smell that gives the person the exact feeling that this perfume is designed for the warm seasons of the year. Then the aroma becomes sour and salty. Of course, the saltiness is not very clear and it is at a distance from other flavors.
When it comes to the middle notes of the perfume; The fragrance moves towards sweetness. It is very interesting that the world's most prestigious brands; The different products they offer are related to each other in some way. For example, this case can be seen in the case of the Amouage brand, where the middle notes of the Amouage and Interlude perfumes are similar. This is also true here. Middle note of Erolfa perfume; Very similar to the middle note
Silver Mountain Water perfume is from Creed brand. Both smell creamy and rich and sweetened
have. (even though there is no similarity in appearance between the middle notes of these two perfumes). The smell of these two perfumes in the middle note stage is exactly like everyone else. When they reach this stage, both of them emit a very strong smell. Erulfa (as well as Silver Mountain Water) has a long middle note. Arulfa in the stage of middle notes, unlike the initial note, does not have a completely summery smell and is more suitable for spring. For this reason, it is not possible to make a definite opinion about this perfume whether it is suitable for spring or summer; And in general, it should be said that it is a spring fragrance; it is summer

in the stage of the final notes; The fragrance does not change noticeably and gradually weakens
All in all, it should be said that Erolfa is a perfume that emits a medium smell in the beginning and end stages and a very strong smell in the middle stage, and the longevity of the perfume surprised me. Contrary to most of the opinions that consider the longevity of the perfume to be average; But this perfume was recognizable on my skin for a long time.

Thank you for the input! I will be going out this weekend and giving both a try! I'm swaying a little more towards Erolfa than VIW, but I will decide eventually. I am very excited to give this a scent a try again. Now that it is spring, it is the perfect opportunity to try these fragrances out!

Erolfa sounds more of a all year round fresh scent, while VIW screams seasonal summer.

Edit: (May 6/17)

I smelt this one in both Harry Rosen and Holt Renfrew today. A truly amazing fragrance. I got a sample of Erolfa from HR and the longevity I am blown away on. I once started to doubt it when I read about the scent fading away fairly quickly, but my view is completely the opposite. This is one of the first citrus type or rather a freshie fragrance that I am very pleased with. I get a lot of the fruit with this one. Quite pleasant.

A summer vibe scent and it takes me away to somewhere hot. I can't detect it, but I certainly get a picture in my head of a kind of salty sea smell. Probably from the ambergris. To my point, I took a shower when I got home, and Erolfa is on my arm the faintest, and I get slight whiffs of what's left. I'm not talking full power, but once your nose becomes accustomed to a smell it will pick it up some way some how. That's what I get. Masculine without fail, but a sophisticated woman could certainly wear this. I will cherish my samples, and perhaps one day own a bottle of Erolfa.

I tip my boater hat to Creed.

Edit: (May 27/17)

Purchased a 120ml bottle. Juice has slight yellow-ish tinge to it. Creed told me it was an authentic bottle from Harry Rosen, and most Erolfa's have that appearance.. It's an older batch I believe. Does anybody ever find the first handful of sprays from a new bottle are weak? Regardless of scent. I'm having better luck now with the sprays.

@gumbinator viw is nicer than erolfa but not as versatile. i think viw is only suited for summer and on sunny day, my god it is beautiful. but erolfa u can use in any occasion, any time of the year, day and night. if i were u, id pick this one up. but knowing me, viw will be my choice

Gumbinator

I have been eyeing this fragrance for some time now. I have smelt it a few times and it is very nice. Quite aquatic and fresh. My only issue is do I go for Erolfa or Virgin Island Water for the summer?

I'd love to own both but only feel the need to have one at the moment. I have smelt VIW and it definitely takes you away to that far away tropical resort and summer orientated most definitely. Any thoughts are more than welcome, and thank you in advance to anyone who gives me some advice!

Oh! I would also like to know which of the two lasts longer! As that is a factor for sure when I pick fragrances!

Erolfa is very nice. I mean very very nice!
Everyone classified this is a daytime scent but I can easily wear this at night also.
This is a very classy take on a "by the sea" fragrance. Maybe a night out on a yacht fragrance. This smell says class. Fresh and beautiful but classy.
Definitely one of my favorite from the house. Don't get so caught up in Aventus and Millesime Imperial and Green Irish Tweed that you sleep on a chance to get this one.... this also deserves recognition. Well done Creed. Sick of y'all, fine, take more of my money.

give this one a chance and it will grow on u. like it did on me. best ambergris in a perfume

Erolfa is really a great ode to mediterranean summers. Now where? The coast? The sea? Maybe a sailboat? A bench on the pier? The where part is up for debate, but as for the scent? The scent is simplistically phenomenal! The Creed quality is front and center in this fragrance. Erolfa has prominent notes of melon, juniper and ambergris that create this salty fruity essence, with just a touch of coniferous pine to give this scent an airy freshness. The combination of these notes gives off a great salty, fresh aquatic feel. Erolfa wears very light and airy, which is what most look for in a summer fragrance, making Erolfa an easy reach for the summer. This fragrance screams to be worn on strolls around town, or a bike ride to the park. But make sure you wear your mariniere, rolled jeans or chinos, and of course a nice pair of espadrilles.

HusseinR

Best lime I've ever smelled.

jigginssean

I stumbled upon a small Creed section in House of Fraser today and could not resist testing out some of the ones i have not smelt yet. Erolfa was one i decided to spray because i am a fan of fresh and aquatic scents. At first sniff i thought it smelt a bit odd and reminded me of bathroom cleaner a little bit. Throughout the day i was smelling all the different sprays on my arms and kept getting whiffs of something really pleasant and so i went back to the place where i sprayed Erolfa and my god it has evolved into one hell of a beautiful marine scent! I was ready to forget about this one but now unfortunately for me, it has shot onto my to buy list! Give this one a chance and let this one evolve, trust me.

hafidzummc

powdery violet with ambergris. the lightest among my creed collection so far but liking it a bit more now. very easy to wear and im giving it an 8.5/10

quite similar to MI. i like MI more than this one. the ambergris is the strongest in this compared to other creeds. 6/10 for now but ive a feeling that its going to get better

Erolfa: elegant salty-citrus masterpiece, totally classic-style. The more you smell it, the better you like it. The scent just improves with time on skin.

Its short longevity is perfect: the heavy smelling of the almost camphorous-like citrus achords would be a negative side of this perfume. In its onwn and unique way, it shines enough to make its wearer happy and confident.

Gem. 8/10

Ive Been wearing this scent for three years. What i find funny is alot of people now are catching on to this scent even though it has been out for many years. Melon Ambergris Citrus with a touch of salt hanging out behind it. I've owned and own many fragrances but this has and always will be a staple. Some complain about the longevitity but this is meant to be worn on a very hot day 5-6 sprays accompanied by a nice white Linen shirt with khaki shorts and some really nice sneakers and while you are pool side or beach side with your lady. EROLFA THE LEGEND CONTINUES.
