"Orange blossom water of the King". Orange blossom was one of the most sought after essences of the 18th Century and in the Court of Louis XV (called "Le Cour Parfumée - The Perfumed Court) it was the epitomy of grace and lightness. Eau de Fleurs d'Oranger was synonymous with Louis XV, so much so that it was renamed "Eau de Fleurs d'Oranger du Roi", posthumously.

Top notes: Bitter Orange, Lemon

Middle notes: Italian Neroli, Orange Flower Absolute - France, Orange Flower Water

Base notes: Ambergris, Petitgrain

This fragrance is really much more about neroli than orange blossom. It reminds me of both Tom Ford Neroli Portofino and 4711 (since they remind me of each other!). A rather citric and staid presentation of neroli, not at all sweet, and somewhat masculine, which makes sense given the name.

Ce n'est pas pour la reine mais pour le roi!

My impression from the text accompanying this perfume is that it was designed to capture a scent from the past, so small wonder that it reminds me of 4711!
