Higher Energy is by no means something special or out of the ordinary. From the initial spray, grapefruit, citrus, nutmeg and a woody-musk scent are the most notable ones. Where it does shine is after the dry down. You're left with a very aromatic, woody and classic scent that fits really well for the office, since it doesn't have much sillage and isn't a head-turning smell. It's a pleasant smell and does work for every day usage, but it gets a bit boring after a while. This is what a recently hired business grad would wear to the club to unsuccessfully pick up girls. 6/10

Knowing your strengths is important
This is why I respect Dior’s team
They know freshness is not their strong point so they usually avoid making them
I can keep counting the bad fresh scents they produced and a lot of them are actually flops
The original au sauvage is a menace
All of the Dior homme fresh scents are bland
Dune is one of the worst Dior fragrances ever
Even in their private line it’s almost impossible to find a freshy and mostly they fail to sell
Dior sauvage in all its forms is a disaster (excluding the elixir)
Except this one it’s refreshing and pleasing
I enjoyed it while it lasted and it didn’t last for long
A must try at least but to me it’s one of Dior’s best fresh scent

Laliqua

Very weak, almost no sillage

doodluv

Smells great, if a bit generic. Fruity + fresh mainly, I'm not getting much spiciness or pepper.

It smells like your typical early 2000's men's perfume but done in a high quality Dior way.
Not the most awe inspiring or mindblowing scent, but a very good, 7.5/10, easy to wear at all times manly fragrance that smells great.

Never owned the original Higher so can't compare the two.

Antoshka2

Suitable for all seasons and occasions. Smells a little like Higher but more woody and less fruity. Like a more mature version of higher, although it was marketed as a younger version. An old school spicy woody cologne with just a hint of pineapple and juniper. But it’s so similar to Instinct by David Beckham they’re interchangeable.

Let_it_be

This smells nothing like the original Higher - it's a more mature spicy woody fragrance. It has a sweet caramel base and therefore is more suitable for romantic occasion than the pear smelling Higher.

It's not better or worse - just different. As different as Egoist and Egoist Platinum. What's the point of marketing different genre under the same name? You don't see James Cameron branding his movie Avatar as Sci-fi Titanic?

shalimaraddict

I like this flanker of Higher. It has a bit more of a woody character over the original Higher, but still fresh. It is well blended and as was pointed out by another reviewer below has an interesting mint note throughout. I like both of the scents, but I like Higher a bit more. I enjoy the scents from the early 2000's. To me they tended to be less sweet like modern scents are. This is an easy reach and works for any situation. It's a great office scent, not too strong enough to offend anyone. Sadly, it was discontinued in North America (along with the original Higher) around 2006/2007. Now it is available on online discounters and Dior's UK website.

Yabi_KO

Tested this at a store and there is just something in the opening that is really horrible. Someone tell me what ingredient that is please! It’s prominent throughout the mid as well in the background ruining my experience with the fragrance.
Alas 20 minutes later in the dry down, that horrible note is gone and I’m left with the most magical woods and aromatic scent that has me very nostalgic. The scent smells classic, definitely reminds you of a fragrance in the 80’s and 90’s … a perfume an uncle, or your teacher wore perhaps.
Nonetheless Could not stop smelling my wrist! Very addictive scent. And nobody wears it anymore so you can stand out with this.

It was hard to smell it after 3hrs though, nothing special with performance. Just a good scent to wear for yourself to enjoy, not really compliments, as it will mostly be a skin scent.

Still full bottle worthy though, 50ml at least.

Axwell

This was one of my first more expensive scents back around 2007-2009. Remember that I used two 30 ml bottles at that time and I found it quite week and not so long lastning by that time.

I wanted to be a bit nostalic so I orderd a 100ml bottle directly from Dior last week and wow! They must have improved this since last time I had it. The longetivity is amazing and also the sillage. I can easily smell this all day and it smells just as good as i remember it.

LMBelvi

I have a decant of this and it is nice and all occasion appropriate but it does not move me. The one compliment I’ll give though is it uses the mint really well. Mint often turns me off in fragrance but it is sweet and polite here, with no bossy-pants presence.
I wish I could detect the pineapple but I can’t.

Overall I say try it if the notes sound good to you. There is nothing weird or offensive here. It could be that I just have tried a lot of scents with similar composition and like others better.

I’ll add that I like Dior Higher better than this one…

AlpN132

This is a very nice scent. Its fresh and great for daily use especially in spring/summer. Its quite long lasting but it doesn’t have much performance after some time when it comes to sillage.

10/10 smell
8/10 longetivity
6/10 sillage

tommylaurendet

This is a lovely scent! I'm a big advocate of scents from the 90's and early 2000's. It's light, fresh and very easy to wear casually and or professionally. I do wish it had stronger projection and longevity though. It's also quite pricey in Australia.. All in all a very nice nostalgic smelling summer/spring fragrance.

ginsengroot

A pretty decent early 2000s freshie! Opens with a ton of spicy pepper, juicy pineapple, and sweet melon, all backed by a huge juniper note that makes it feel like an effervescent gin cocktail. The drydown doesn't come out to much more than pepper, cedar and vetiver for me, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Would love to try Dior Higher and its different fruit cocktail one day to compare!

lakkiirfan

I own three from Higher of vintage collection and rate it from top to bottom as...
1. Higher Dior
2. Higher Energy
3. Higher limited edition (Black)

Momothebom

This fragrance is underrated, lasts long smells fresh and fruity. Sample for sure! It grew on me and I got a full bottle. Great signature as not many people will be wearing this, yet it's very versatile. Especially in hotter climates.

Gurreu

This was my first love when it comes to fragrances.
About 15-years after I first bought this, I still keep one in my collection at all times.
If only it lasted longer!

komail

Very synthetic and smells like axe deodorant. I don't understand how could dior come up with the amazing artistic Dior Homme and then come with this mess.

drixma

I went on a date with my long distance girlfriend and she was wearing this, idk why it’s marketed only for men she did pull this off perfectly ,I loved it in her,bit synthetic but very invigorating, was constantly releasing serotonins off of me from the whiffs lol.

thebloff

This is very very fruity and sweet to my nose, in a great way. I do not understand the comparison to Elysium. This is completely different. 7.8/10

Akhantru

Found it and got it ! I was estranged from higher energy as all retailers were saying it has been discontinued... Don't know if that's the case but I just scored a 100 ml edt ! Of this fresh, happy, uplifting great juice. I don't care if its too young for me :-) I like it. It is an energiser, far superior to boss energize since its a Dior ! Any how, I think its sophisticated and the best of the fruity woody fragrances around. It reminds me of something else.- some other fragrance - but cannot nail it right now. For those who have not tried it, its a 'must explore'fragrance ! Recommended.

I don't know for me it fulfills that 'clean' summer fragrance requirement which higher does not, so I am more inclined towards this.

Schmellin_Good

Definitely smells it's age but in a really nice way. It has that early-mid 2000s fresh "man smell" but the quality is higher than what I remember from the day.

vitor rd

A sport version of the original, more citrus in the opening and has a little of the higher dna in the drydown. I would say its a refined sport fragrance.

Candyandy

rybkinrolla's review is spot on. This really smells like a 2005 men's fragrance but done extremely well. It can smell a bit generic for being a Dior fragrance. I however have a soft spot for these kind of fragrances, they make me nostalgic. Thumbs up, definitely underrated!

billblm93

Very zesty opening
fresh fruity mint for like 15min then citrus mixes wit tropical fruits for about 10 more min
then LOTS of pepper lol
its totally underrated imo
it smells good to me and the dry peppery base makes it wearable all year round i think
i dont know about performance on this one

AGToth

It reminds a lot of Chanel E. Platinum, especially the oak moss note

jarno1208

Very green, woody and fresh. I don't really get the fruits or citrus notes. Has this old school gentleman vibe for sure.

elb0515

Smells like Ed Hardy Love & Luck

fragranti_kai

same vibe with H24 but weaker.

JolieSucre

Pretty cool writing a review of a men’s cologne, it would be so much more useful if men wrote about their opinion on ladies’ fragrances, and vice-versa.
This is one of the four colognes whose names and scents I remember, everything else I ever sniffed smells pretty much identical to me.

Most men’s colognes, whatever they smell like, end up having that cheap aftershave, reeky Denim-like tang.
This one is not my absolute favourite simply because it isn’t sweet enough, and I like nose bombs so personal taste plays into it.

But gentlemen, this is absolutely beautiful and the ladies will love it! I first smelled this on a date and asked him what he was wearing.
Then proceeded to always give this and Lalique Encre Noire to my next boyfriend, lol! That’s how much I loved it.
It’s fresh and very youthful, sliiiiightly sweet in an aromatic way.

To me this smells of fruity, sweet-ish vetiver, bitter-sweet grapefruit, a tiny bit of mint, creamy musk (?) and something else that I cannot detect, but rounds it up and makes it the delicious fragrance it is.
A nutty note? Maybe. It’s just gorgeous, so special and youthful, aromatic, a bit sugary-fragrant, can’t describe it. Stunning.

I am not good at describing notes and I usually feel two or three, but it doesn’t really matter.
This is a wonderful cologne that I am sure will get a lot of compliments to those who wear it.
On the downside, it can be a bit too young because of the vetiver + grapefruit, but not unwearable.

fisken23

Lovely fresh scent from Dior! Not your regular summer/aqua-mishmash. This one is pure class.

Erik_47

I had a tester of this smell. On me its disappointing. Its a nice smell, rather sophisticated in my opinion. But its barely noticeble and dissapears real fast. Glad I didnt do a blind buy on this one but decided to try it out first.

raiza1990

I get a cold and a bit spicy grapefruit. It is not bad, but i am unimpressed. The wow factor is missing. sillage and longevity are disappointing. Not a sexy cologne. Not something i would buy for my husband. I wouldn't mind smelling it on a man, but it is not a fragrance that turns my head.

TrephineArtist

I tried this gorgeous summery scent just a short while ago and it's fading fast from my skin but bear in mind it's the middle of winter and I was in the pouring rain so it's probably washed off a bit.

The opening is really something else and if you are fond of citrus fresh scents you will no doubt love this one! It has that special Dior Homme Sport grapefruit note and another thing that reminds me a little of my beloved DHS (2008) is that I sense some ginger although it's not listed, so it may be the nutmeg mixed with other notes giving this cool spicy (and a little green in this case) vibe.It is definitely a lighter scent than that DHS though.

A beautiful scent but right now I'm not keen on the performance, but I'll try again once the weather warms up, on a dry day!

Scent:9/10

UPDATE: I had to give an update, it's been several hours now and I can still smell this on my skin, unlike the original version sprayed at the same time. It's faint but like I said, some had been washed off with the rain imo. I really like this, definitely has an uplifting quality to it in a similar way to Clinique Happy for men.

Smellwise

Unfortunately, it’s almost a terrible fragrance. I expected a light fruity-spicy-woody summer scent, but all I got is hardcore pepper and nutmeg notes... Nothing other. The opening is beautfiul with the pineapple, melon, juniper and mint, but 10 (!) seconds and fade away. The next 3 hours just pepper, pepper, pepper and nutmeg. As I said nothing other. The base is pleasent, but very powerless… I can sniff some vetiver and maybe a bit of sandalwood (and pepper, pepper, pepper…). This is not a summer fragrance, this is a spicebomb. I am so dissapointed… who wants to smell like pepper? Not worth the money.

- Spicy scent for autumn.

- sillage is better then average, but longevitiy is moderate, max. 5 hours.

- try before buy

It's nice to finally sample Dior Higher Energy, a purportedly fresh and sporty take on the more provocative, earlier Higher, which is now discontinued and I've not sampled.

Higher Energy is quite reasonable in most respects as a designer freshie, balancing freshness and being quite pleasant and agreeable with some degree of provocativeness. Pineapple and grapefruit are familiar opening contributors, while juniper and mint spike up the mix a bit. The fragrance dries down into a heart of incense and pepper, giving way to a base of what comes off to me as sandalwood, musk, and perhaps cedar.

It's not specifically very masculine but perhaps leans slightly masculine with the inclusion of the pepper and incense, specifically, but it's a quite pleasant unisex freshie fragrance overall, more ideal in composition for warm weather but also due to performance, which isn't great, with mediocre projection and longevity.

Pricing is fair at $55 for 100ml on FragranceNet. I don't see any standard retail sources (like department stores) still selling it, so Higher Energy seems to be confined other retail sources (i.e. Walmart, vendors) and the secondary market.

One I'll likely try to acquire as, if I had to guess, this too will be discontinued at some point.

It smells the soft combination of citrus and spicy. It is really fresh. It reminds me of Mont Blanc Individuel.

GRAF

It's a beautiful scent but.. it's just a nice masculine scent. Dominant grapefruit and juniper. I do not get strong pneapple or melon. And I get lavender from it even it's not listed here. I like it but it's not enough to buy it. The longevity is about 4 hours and the projection moderate for the first hour or so. Than it stays close to the skin. I recommend it mainly for summer days and nights.

lemac

another gem put out to pasture. i have just discovered it and i love it, but dont get much longevity out of it , if TF bottled this and called it amalfi costa grapefruit ,it would sell for £140 for a 50ml bottle i have no doubt ,ignore the cheap feel to the bottle and cap and just inhale .

Black Russian

It smell more like cheap deodorant that like perfume worthy such esteemed house as Dior. It is true both on my skin as well as sprayed on paper.
Longevity is above average, close to being long lasting.
I think it could be suitable only for Summer days, and only for wearing outside. And I also would tell it for younger people only, like under 30, 35 max. All it makes it one of the least versatile scents.

davide2111

Sillage 6.5/10
Longevità 7/10
Profumo 5.5/10

perfumemory

To my nose it is a summer fragrance, with very bright and pronounced citrus and green notes, nothing too heavy but powerful, as @Jasper has pointed out. Juniper and pepper create a wonderful balance with the (very slightly) fruity and (more obvious) green notes. Gives me lots of joyful ENERGY every time I spray. Love it.

IMsooKool4Real

This fragrance really gives off that summer poolside vibe. It captures that bright sunny vibrant colored mixed citrus and pineapple drink thing too. Its allot more sophisticated then just that and also more refreshing.
It has a nice vodka freshness in the mix as well.

A true summer fragrance that works great in hot balmy weather. You really can't over spray this one too. Yah its safe... but manages to lean slightly sweet, fresh & sophisticated.

bizzybazza

one of my top 10 a real sexy fruity fragrance with a wack of incense giving it a sensual nature that makes it a real sexy fragrance.i have been using this on and off since its first release.
overall aahhhhhhh...... gorgeous

nadzri

Similar to Calvin klein escape.

periquito89

There is a fuss that this is a "superb" scent, but to me the smell is just ok. The scent has a mild but lasting smell that is fresh, a bit green, with a tiny feeling that is caracteristic of some oriental scents. That's not bad, but not great either; in fact is much more a common scent than anything else. Maybe I´ve tried so many scents already ... Original Higher is better.

Amparo Noir

If I'm not mistaken, back then in 2005, (bought for my husband) i remember how strong and powerful the projection was. Similarities of the old and newer batch are the longevity and the scent itself, but projection.
It's more of a skin-scent now.

toto453

Ok scent but not my favorite.

crunkabortion

"Dior never releases perfume for hair-chested men"

Apparantly Fragrantica user K1 has never even *heard* of Fahrenheit.

usas

No where near similar to Dior Higher, but also really good.

Fresh scent. The topnotes have a slight rubbery smell in it, which I really like. Furthermore it's citrus, but not the regular stuff. When it dries down I get a warm, spicy and fruity-nice afterglow.

8,5/10

Marciu

To me - Dior Higher Energy is spicy woody aromatic. I didn't read carefuly the notes in it, but first spray on my skin almost immediately reminded me of crushed juniper berries! Later on it gets quite aromatic - I guess it'd be nutmeg, not so sure about pepper. But when it dried down totally, it dissapointed me a little bit. I get no incense at all... Drydown of Higher Energy is an energetic load of grapefruit, at least on my skin.
And, basically that's all what that fragrance is to me... I was expecting more incense, like this one in Bleu de Chanel, got something totally different. I guess it's a good choice for spring and summer, but, sadly, it's not what I'm looking for.
Longevity is average - about 5-6 hours on my skin, sillage is medium.
Maybe it's not a total let down, but I think I'll pass on this one...

skipster

Light, young, and quite expensive. Nutmeg and citrus notes are the most dominant to my nose. You can smell that it is good quality and it can be used on almost every occasion.

I kinda like it, but in the long run it becomes a little boring. Will probably give away the leftovers to someone who appreciates it more than I.

vitilsky

Drydown smells like basil on paper (?), still not bad nice one, spicy and tangy.

Sharpnoodles

I loove dior homme and dior homme sport, haven't tried dior homme intense yet. But I thought I'd try this and it wasn't what I thought it would be. Very generic and didnt find anything special in it . It could be Adidas for all I know . Not pleased .

Chido

A fragrance that I absolutely love. It takes well to my boyfriend's skin. It smells absolutely divine on him. A definite repurchase for those summer/ spring days

HORRIDFRAG

i love this, it's dior, and that is all i know...
sharp, citric, incense'y', woody and spicy!

well, i do agree that nothing surprising about the smell,
it's almost like many edts for men sold on the shelves with cheaper
price.

0lea

HebaD'Opium, certainly a lady could! I have worn it for eight years now, and no one has ever questioned the femininity of this fragrance on me.

HebaD'Opium

I got this for my younger brother. It's so fresh and 'energetic'.
I identified the pepper, nutmeg, mint, incense, sandalwood and musk. I guessed that there was lemon but obviously it's grapefruit.

The dry down for me has more pineapple and melon in it along with the musk that anchors this perfume and sandalwood.
It's amazing, could be worn during the day all year long. It's long lasting and the sillage is incredible.

I wonder if I could get away with wearing it hahahaha, will def update if a lady could wear this :P

90hou

This one is nice, but the longevity is soso.

garett

This frag is good , the smell , the notes , but only thing lacking is longevity.10 mins or 30 mins with 4 sprays and it faints to black.

relevos

I looove this fragrance, smell so critric and good,

9.50/10.

layken39

this to me is similar to euphoria men.. i like it!

DC-8

A nose-stroking scent with a fabolous longevity.

Though there are numerous rivals for this platform of the scent, but yet it's something distinctive and unique.

Initial phase starts up so fresh with a touch of zest of citrus and pinneaple with freshness of the mint. Not insulting or intense at all, considering the top phase. Really impressing and divine.

Very quickly the middle phase launches with spicy notes and a touch of bitterness. Again, a very cool cute scent.

The dry down notes are a feat, cool and still feeling a touch of bitterness, aromatic but you can feel spice there. To me, at this point, it's close to it's predecessor, Higher. Also feels close to Chanel Allure Homme COLOGNE Sport (2007), in the pepper and citrus aspects.

6 whiffs worked for over 10 hours on my neck. In the end it appeared close to the skin, but sensibly present. It's mostly for day time, but nothing would go wrong wearing it at night: it has a bitter dark side also.

A great scent for the heat, specially spring time. It's supposed to be Dior!

bwcw81

Like other reviews said, it is hard to believe this is a Dior fragrance(heavy and potent), this one is really crisp and fresh with slight mellow sweetness with hints of floral and fruity. Projection quite linear across 3 notes, turning from light to lighter scent across the notes. It stay close to skin but still noticeable. It somehow remind me a mild version of CK Eternity (Lavender sweetness) cross with Truth (Green fresh).

Not bad choice for summer/ sport fragrance, except a short longevity. 6/10 from me.

Akhan

Hippyhop2

A good, classy, fresh and spicy smell for a man. It smells sophisticated. I get the image of a man with a suit on at day time... the perfume to match it.

juanbautista

i just bought this, as i was looking for a summer-spring fragrance. i've read in a lot of reviews that this scent lacks sofistication, and would be more apropiate for teenagers.

as i smelled it i didn't think of any teenager at all. i'd say it's appropiate for a young man, but not a teenager. don't base your opinion on a paper sample, try it on your skin; at first it smells rather common, but those are just the citruses on the opening notes. once you let it land, it will be like a flower blossoming; letting new peppery and musky smells arise.

not for winter, but i would recommend this fragrance to anyone looking for a nice spring scent. it's true, it doesn't scream out loud "i'm here", but it really smells great when close to the person wearing it, and is not one more of those cheap spring fragrances like hugo's or ralph lauren's crap.

ScottyVizz

A muted version of Allure Homme. I had this for a few months and found myself using it more than my other fragrances. It whispers but you're aware of it's presence. The quality shines even when the note composition is minimalistic.

Very similar to Hugo Energise. Including the notes are very similar. Refreshing as an orange gum. The cost is higher than each of the Hugo Boss

It's hard not to love "Higher Energy"!
It is so bright, so cheerfull so sweet and uplifting!
A positive man with a bright smile that's the person this perfume is made for.
Easily loveable and optimistic! And simple and gorgeous!
All boys should try this perfume and if you can't afford it just go for its cheaper equivalent.
You know what's that, don't you?
"Of a man" from Body Shop, of course. :)

Higher Energy by Dior is a fragrance soft and sweet, gourmand notes in the opening as the melon and pineapple make it tasty, pepper and incense in the heart stronger, vetiver, musk and labdanum among others give a roundness syrupy.Ideal in spring and summer when the heat with his notes enhance.A my opinion looks like a Good Life by Davidoff, although the latter is more pungent. Reminded the outdoor parties with frozen drinks, smoothies fruit and ice cream, all on the edge of a huge swimming pool and fountains bright.
Dior never lets you ......
Very good to try.

Mr. Nose

Higher Energy is a light one. Definitely.

I had it as a gift, when I was 17. Good for that age, good for the summer.

But not nowadays. Wouldn't buy it again. Too light and non-masculine scent.

Mushroomfat

A Slightly softer version of the original with a lil less similarity to other fragrances.

My BF had many perfumes but this was just too sweet for a man. I love Aqua di Gio, Gucci II., ...but this one NOT

I didn't like this at first, but I came to quite like this - it has a peppery, musky, vanilla "waft" to it - but fresh too! But as people have commented - it's not very original, but, it is well blended. The sillage is very nice too, it sort of grabs your attention. I think it is similar to Allure by Chanel but this is more peppery. Higher Energy grows on you!

costaleo

easy to wear, not offensive, very casual, but very common. It's more of the same. I just got a miniature, look at it every day, and haven't felt like wearing it for a while... maybe it lacks originality!

countbernadotte

I bought it, liked it and will keep it.

It is light, somewhat fresh, and is an excellent fragrance for the summer and casual wear.

Refreshes, uplifts you immediately. Very easy to wear, light but has a character.
Every Dior fragrance has some sort of refinement and originality even if other fragrances include many similar notes and this is no exception. Gets great compliments too.
A must sample if you look for a spring fragrance.

I like how this fragrance smells on me. Not fruity at all. It is light and fresh and powerful at the same time. The green notes in it make this a refreshing scent I will reach on a hot and sunny day. The scent didn't change when it mixed with sweat, which make this one good for wearing to the gym. A cold shower in a bottle!
