Sweet Sun by Dior is a Amber Floral fragrance for women. Sweet Sun was launched in 2004. Top notes are Mandarin Orange and Orange; middle notes are Tiare Flower, Ginger, Jasmine and Coconut; base notes are Vanilla and Musk.

Is it possible to capture the Sun and water in the same bottle? Dior has managed. They created Sweet Sun, a sensual fragrance which evokes the feelings of summer. The notes of this limited edition are just like sun light shimmering mixed with freshness of juicy mandarin and orange. Exotic middle notes bring in Tiare flower and jasmine, followed by vanilla, musk and ginger in the base. The bottle is reminiscent of a sunscreen lotion bottle. The fragrance includes pro-endorphin which gives a natural feeling of pleasure. It was created in 2004.

Still one of my summertime favorites (I bought it secondhand about six years ago) but once I finish it up I don't think I'll replace it. It doesn't smell as magical as it used to; I think it lost some of its boozy amber vanillic qualities and is now more of a creamy lotion scent. It doesn't smell bad or rancid though, just not as lovely as it used to be. I think the secondhand prices are high for quite literally scented water but it is a unique and truly beautiful scent, just not for the price it's going for.

Back again after all of my years of loving this beauty, and still trying to find the perfect dupe. No luck.

To the reviewer below who mentioned to stop “unicornizing” this fragrance, ahhh, you just don’t know what it was like the first time to smell this circa early 2000 and fall in love hard, and still be in love all this time later. There is no similar comparison and feeling this fragrance evokes.

Of course, you will not find fresh bottles nowadays so I can’t blame anyone new trying this, but if you’ve been with Sweet Sun right from the start - you know this is an exceptional piece.

Again, Dior, we plead that you bring this back!

Found in my 2000s drawer, episode 3. Already, the substance coming out of my sample is more pasty than fragrant: that's certainly not normal. But the scent is there.

The advert announces that "Sweet Sun recreates the sensation of sunbathing". Yes, especially in the 2000s. On a Miami beach, a tiare-coconut-vanilla ambiance. It's the sun-kissed fragrance of short sequined bikinis and golden cocktail-coconut sand beaches. More jet-set than Normandy squares.

A fragrance that, for a few seconds, would definitely have transported me 20 years into the past, a past that was half postcard and half TV model commercial.

Dior Sweet Sun (2004) is amber, vanilla, fruity orange, with tropical florals and light musk. Although amber is not listed among the official notes, amber is the most prominent to my nose. Short on longevity though. Fragrances usually last a long time on me, but Sweet Sun lasted just an hour or so. Very similar impression to Chanel Allure EDT for women and to Guess Gold, both of which are longer lasting.

I got a second hand vintage so not sure if mine has gone off a bit/time and heat have eroded the citrus, especially as its alcohol free. So its a tad less fresh I would have hoped for. A tiny bit sour fruit on opening, there is a certain flatness sometimes found in alcohol free fragrances but the dry down is nice, creamy.I was hoping for more tiare less tanning lotion but Its nice, and its nice to try things, and I am a sucker for scouring for discontinued products, just because. I don’t think Dior would ever put out a really bad product but its not anything exceptional. Love the colour, idea and packaging though. Bit more freshness and oomph for me please. EDIT: hm..I do really like the scent that lingers on after an hour or so. Very creamy there is something really pleasant and sensuous about it, tiare flower with a hint of fruit in cream, something like that. Very lovely to be surrounded by. Takes a good few hours to get to this point but once it does, I see why people are taken by this one; there is something quite unique, scintillating and memorable there.

If anyone out there is "Unicorn-izing" this , stop right there. Sweet Sun is....just OK. Nothing in the notes listed above make sense or stand out.
I get a BIT of Clinique Happy , or thereabouts, then come an average sweet/woody dry-down.

Tiare ? Where for art thou ?
I DO applaud the "NO alcohol" aspect...a lot! Very progressive. This is oily, so note that if you're wearing a sheer dress made of a delicate fabric.

I like the bottle and will be keeping it as a "curiosity" because I LOVE all vintage Dior. (This looks nice standing next to my Dune and Fahrenheit bottles !)

Do not over-pay for this. Trust me.

I just obtained a full vintage bottle. This has been on my want list for years. I am so glad to have tried it. It is a soft fragile feminine treatment spray that is alcohol free for those who have issues with alcohol based fragrances. It smells so innocent, so sweet and gentle how anyone could not enjoy is beyond me. I tried it like it a lot however I will swap as I have too much lOL. But it's really a lovely little gem.

jeannebelmondo

My favorite summer fragrance. It smells like booze, musk, suntan oil, and candied oranges. It's alcohol-free, so it's very easy to layer over other fragrances (I especially love layering it with almond and coconut notes), and although it doesn't stay at its full strength for long, that syrupy citrus-vanilla-cognac scent lingers as a skin scent all day. My boyfriend loves this one more than anything else in my collection. And he might be on to something - what's not to like?

Delila

The opening of this reminds me of my dad in the UK in the 1980s. It has a slightly masculine freshness, perhaps from the sour fruit notes.

It also brings up memories of strongly perfumed quality hotel soaps from that era. Its dry down is reminiscent of French Lavender essential oil (a sharper citrus-like Lavender).

It sits close to the skin and doesn't last long. It doesn't say 'sunny' to me. I doubt I would choose to wear it.

Follow up/third test (I like to persist, to be sure): I get a blend of soap and shampoo. With my chemistry, it doesn't seem to add value. Shame, as Dior often goes well on me.

Love this. Bought it at Sephora years ago around the time of the launch. It was sunshine, happy vacation in a bottle.

Got the citrus, soft florals, vanilla, musk, etc. You could sit on a beach of white sand with the golden sun beating down on you and this is what you'd smell on the air.

Uplifting? Yes. It wasn't very long lasting, but worth the trip.

I just bought SL Datura Noir, and for a moment, I was taken back to those days when I wore Dior's Sweet Sun. Notes are slightly different, but similarities are remarkable. And Datura is much longer lasting with better sillage.

I'm a huge Dior and SL fan.

People who miss this in production should try Montale intense tiare. I guarantee it is much better and stronger. Intense tiare will have you smelling your wrist all day with coconut and sweet ylang/tiare. I want to eat my girlfriend when she wears this. I'm about to be like screw it and buy a bottle for myself.

LavenderSky

Shame on you, Dior! How could you cast such a magical scent away without even a second thought? Please bring her back in 2017 for us to embrace again next summer :)

I finally have another bottle of this (God, it's so pricey to obtain now. That should be a hint to you, Dior, that there's some serious revenue to be had with this one.) I haven't had a bottle of it in years since it was first released, but it was my everything for a few summers in a row in the mid-00's.

I know this bottle has been stored for quite a few years, and it's held up surprisingly well for not having any alcohol or anything to preserve it.

Nothing compares to this for a summer scent.

Not Maison Martin Margiela Replica Beach Walk, not Bobbi Brown Beach, not the Escada scents I wore in my early 20's, not even Armani Sun di Gioia.

Please bring this back, Dior. It's a masterpiece. Fresh batches at regular retail prices would be orgasmic.

This is just one of my all time favorite scents, period. Seasonal or otherwise.

Like everyone else has said already, it really is sun and beach water in a bottle.

Magic.

cold_feeling

It's amaaaazing .. I do have two new bottles of it for a good price ..

I wish this parfums production continued :(( it was more than perfect, I have all kinds of summery scents, but non of them is as good as this. And I can say the same for Azuree; Tom ford's special addition for estee lauder. It was a limited edition either, both are gone :((

Majda

Pure perfection for me. I loved this for years, but it has been discontinued. Anyone here with tips for a similar scent?

Sweet Sun is a warm and sweet fragrance.
The sweetness comes from the Vanilla, Jasmine and Tiare Flower while Orange and Mandarin Orange add something fruity. The Ginger in it is the most special note and gives the scent a little edge, which I adore!
Very, very sensual too. Sweet Sun doesn´t obviously smell like a perfume. More like "something" here smells so good...wait...ahhh that´s me! To me the best thing a fragrance can do. It melts with your skin. And yes, it smells like a suntan lotion- but like an adorable one!

Gajaneh

Sweetiekitty

Wow, the opening is gorgeous. Doesn't last too long, but I do love it!

Medea12

This was Dior's ONLY NATURAL and also alcohol free fragrance. Too bad they discontinued such a sunny, summer scent. It seems that most cosmetic and designer companies out there prefer to make synthetic perfumes to mess up with our health..

Frayja

How much I regret I didn't bought it when I had the chance!!!!Sweet Sun it is!

Fleurissima

This is THE summer sunshine in a bottle. Aptly named Sweet Sun, it opens as a dual note of slight fresh floral mandarin mixed with warm vanilla. The scent is heaven throughout its wear and and after spraying this to my décolleté and arms, it makes my skin soft and velvety and almost creates a slight glow. Beautiful!

This is not a typical beach/summer scent but more of a happy, luxe, sunny fragrance.

I have yet to come across something similar to this scent, and I am sure I am not the only one to say this but I still long for Dior to bring this beauty back!

WildDove

Sweet Sun is a light amber topped with honey or sugar. The vanilla, flowers, oranges are very subtle. Very pretty scent. Too bad it was limited edition or discontinued.

LauriD

Gorgeous! Why discontinue something so wonderful?!
I need to find a replacement. Help!

SweetSun

Wearing it today since a long time. Mmm... so sweet. Very lovely and subtile scent. It's not available anymore. Bad news. Why?!

Aspendina

wow just recieved this in a swap and I LOVE it. It really does smell like sun & water its so wonderful. Dior please bring this one back!!!!

lolipophead

It's such a shame it doesn't last longer on the skin....... gorgeous. I wear it, of course, in the sun, after swimming, all summer long. The only perfume to displace it has been Bobbi Brown's Beach.

Trekkey

One of my most favorite scents! I have been carefully wearing it on special occasions only because I don't want it to be gone!! In search for more! I have not found an every day scent that I love more and that lasts all day on me! If you love sweet, light scents that remind you of summer, you will LOVE this one!

elinamould

I really like the smell, but not the feel on my skin. It feels a little bit soapy and sticky. It is quite a nice smell, though. Very summery, like a hot summer's eve by the beach.

pandorosa

smells like sun! bbeautiful, yummy scent without alcohol. you can use it under sunlight safely

Has anyone got a sample of this for sale? I'd love to try it but can't find it on eBay... Message me if you can part with a sample of this scent, please.

This was my favourite skin scent for the longest time. I would still wear it if I could find it. So many people complimented me on it! It was so soft and creamy and understated, perfect for everyday wear. Loved it!

eilismaireg

tanning lotion smell. Don't know why I bought this or why I lose my sense of taste and style in the summer- I'm probably so happy it's not raining I'll buy anything with 'Sun' written on it.

ChemistRhi

What is this supposed to do? Is it just an alcohol free fragrance or bronzing thing? Anyway, I found it in Debenhams the other day, it smells nice. . . simple kinda smell. Sweet, creamy orangey citrus. Lasted a long time on the tester ribbon too.

SmoothasSilk

This fragrance is amasing to use even if u are going to the beach coz wont harm yr skin!!
Really smells like sun, sand and ocean all together!!!
Love it!

FUELedbyCHAOS

This is the exact smell of their self-tanners. If you've ever used them, you'll know it's a mimic. Delicious!
