i used to be obsesses with this scent when i was 13 lol smells just like cotton candy, very sweet and pretty but juvenile and the longevity is very poor.

Flizz

A pure dupe of Parle Moi - Guimauve de Nöel!
Inoffensive, powdery vanilla without cloying sweetness! Can't stop smelling my wrist! 😁🥰

Yo_girl

My grandmother got me this for Christmas in 2022 I think. I love it. I know it’s a little boring for some but I loveeeee. However it dose not stay for long and will have to re-apply quite often but other than that I get SO many compliments and my friends always ask to use it.

lhynn0

my boyfriend got me this for valentines day. its not really groundbreaking or anything, its a pretty simple vanilla scent which i can definitely appreciate :) it lasts pretty long on my skin, especially when i layer it, i’d say like 3+ hours. my dad could smell it from a little more than an arms length away so i would say it projects pretty nicely. it does last a lot longer and project a lot more when i layer it with my usual perfume (eilish by billie eilish) so maybe layering will help with longetivity and sillage issues that i see others having? i really like this overall

BBghoul

I got this one year as a Christmas present but had to give away.
I saw the notes and was so excited to try it but sadly for 'me' the notes of amber and musk comes out too strong to take in any other notes of the apple, florals and vanilla.

Cecilie.l.s.m

I like the scent. But my review of it will sound negative if that's how one chooses to read it.
To me, it smells like vanilla powder. Danish pancakes being cooked on the griddle.
It's not a juicy or complex scent. The scent is just sweet and friendly.
There's also a hint of vanilla ice cream or vanilla milkshake in this scent.
One would have to search long and hard to find something exciting or more nuanced in this scent.

noellejosephine

Sweet candy, creamy vanilla, musky with a bite of juicy apple. I enjoyed this but only wore it on certain days where I felt like smelling like fruity shampoo. Had to throw the bottle away when I got down to the last quarter, turned to pure alcohol.

iammelody

Yes this is light, linear and somewhat short lived, but not overly so. I find that as the hours go by and as the fragrance mixes with your body heat, it kind of regenerates itself throughout the day but still stays close to you. I find myself getting little whiffs of it even after 8 hours. It almost gives off a "your smell but better" kind of vibe.
Someone a few reviews down says that it smells like those cheap Easter chocolates (I'm thinking of those mini milk chocolate eggs wrapped in foil) and even though there's no chocolate in the notes, I definitely see why they get that ..I love it though! It's simply a quiet, sweet and safe fragrance for me and I've enjoyed this for years.
I should probably mention that it's OK to overspray this (well you should, otherwise you wont get anything out of it lol). It wont make it stronger, but it'll help make it last longer.

adamh9201

The lasting power is non existent!!! So sad because the scent itself is incredible

Amsie13

This is literally just water vaguely scented with vanilla. Even if I bury my nose into my wrist after spraying there's virtually no scent. How this is EDP I don't know! Such a shame as it sounded perfect from the notes

milkystrawberrycake

I only tested this but it smelled like milk chocolate, like a cheap, one dollar chocolate you get for easter. Anyone else???Then it stayed as a very boring vanilla. It was good but i dont love chocolate scents. I expected it to be vanilla all around but on me this was chocolate, milk, vanilla and not very original or great. I might try it again and re-review if i change my mind.

Flyingfoxy

Oddly adjacent to Vanilla Lace by Victoria’s Secret except this one has more apple and peony. Vanilla Lace has a far deeper richer base and I find layering Mad Potion and Vanilla Lace is the best way to get a nice scent cloud out of Mad Potion, which on it’s own has almost no silage and is very weak. Mad Potion is Vanilla Lace’s fruitier lighter version.

evilserpent

I got this on accident. I attempted to order Killer Queen on Amazon and the wrong package was sent. I'm not sure if the bottle I got is a knock off, or maybe it's my nose, but I don't get vanilla at all! It smells like cheap chemical-y baby powder. Strong babydoll plastic smell. Not for me

Noelanii

Four sprays on my shirt and I can still smell it clearly the next day. It is cool spring weather here so maybe that is why it has good longevity right now. Sillage is low but I don't mind that, I just want to smell good for me. I do love this scent, it reminds me of Victoria's Secret bare vanilla but with less amber, so it is more innocent/day-time and the VS more grown up/evening. I love that is smells softly powdery and vanilla forward. I don't get the plasticky note mentioned by some which I am glad about. Gentle, warm, reassuring vanilla hugs.

EDIT: lasts for days on clothes, day 3 and the other scents I've sprayed over it are gone, but it still lingers. Yay!

astrid444

I love this so much i've never smelled anything like it, easily became my favorite perfume 2 days after getting it despite being the cheapest i have. It also lasts more than 8 hours on my skin

Ellamaria2022

I love this. (Well kinda anyways) The vanilla is soooo god, but unfortunately this lasts so shortly that I honestly can't believe it.
As someone mentioned this is worse than a body spray.
Really sad because it's a great vanilla fragrance. It reminds me of Billie Eilish edp, but with wastly different lasting power, since Billie eilish edp lasts a lot longer and is more intense and multilayered.
Why is it so hard to find a nice vanilla fragrance that lasts??
Anyways I do still use this one, but won't repurchase due to the fact I can't smell it for more than 10mins at best.

Jojo789

I got this for $10 on ebay & was excited because I love vanilla. However, this smells just like Vanilla Fields that I used to wear as a teenager. Which is not what I was looking for. Also, it is gone within minutes of spraying it. Poof! Nothing. I'm bummed.

Cocovioletta

I adore this. Black berry icecream. Just heaven. Cheap and yet one of my all time favorites.

RocCity3

This smells amazing, but I won't repurchase. The lasting power is WORSE than a body spray! Really unfortunate because this is the vanilla that sooo many people are searching for.

Davidleeroth

Definitely one of my favourite types of vanilla fragrances. Cheap, yummy, plasticky, milky and powdery, in the best way. Doll heads dipped in caramel. Like candy dolls instead of candy apples. It has that green apple note too. This would be really good for halloween. It’s how I’d imagine an 80s fashion doll to smell. All in all, if you want to smell like a doll in the best way, try this! I might rebuy to spray on my Sindy dolls

Perfumefreak30

Love the smell best vanilla perfume .however it's crap on lasting!!! Sprayed it on last a second don't waste your money it just don't last

gourmandica86

My everyday go-to perfume.
A sweet, powdery vanilla that isn’t overpowering. I also get a hint of anis, although it isn’t one of the notes.
Low sillage and low longevity - but all in all it’s a good, cheap celeb fragrance - just wish it lasted a little longer!

dcampbell

So disappointed in this. I got this on a recommendation by paulreacts on Tiktok, because he said it's a dupe of BBW Vanilla Bean Noel. That is my favorite scent from BBW, but as it's a body mist, it obviously doesn't last long. That said, Mad Potion does in fact smell almost identical to BBW VBN. Also comparable to Philosophy Fresh Cream. BUT, Mad Potion literally disappears within seconds of applying, same with Fresh Cream. And that's with drenching myself in it. I could literally use the whole bottle in one day. I love how it smells...it's the vanilla scent I was searching for. I have tried so many, even popular ones like Eilish, Skylar, and 7 virtues i tnink it's called, to name a few. I don't like musky vanillas. They remind me of BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar, which makes me want to vomit. Even though Mad Potion is "affordable", it's not worth it because it's SO WEAK. I'm so disappointed. I found the perfect Vanilla and it's a dud. Ugh!

MademoiselleMaya

It's madly sweet. A super sweet musk with vanilla.
I do not feel anything else.
In a way, it is the equivalent of cotton candy.
By this I mean - to real parfume it is the same as cotton candy is to chocolate.
It actually caught my like at beauty supply shop, it was sweet and funny, as such found a way to my home.
I do not recommend it for summer.
It would do o.k - autumn-spring.

Tlm93

The smell is so weak you can hardly smell anything even if you over spray. It smells like vanilla for a minute at most then it's completely gone. Don't waste your money.

boolprop

This is what I call one of those "carnival" vanillas, like Outremer Vanille. I mean that literally, as they remind me of the smell at a state fair. Pure sticky vanilla without any brown sugar, sandalwood, detectable florals, or any other components like that.

It's enjoyable but not worth the price, especially with the poor longevity, because there's an 8oz body mist by Happy Nation which smells pretty much the same and lasts longer for $12. Outremer Vanille is also stronger.

For the record RE: the review below mine, my Mad Potion box explicitly says "Eau De Parfum". Perhaps there are different versions. In any case I agree with others that this stuff doesn't hold at all.

Mariamaija Amélie

Mad Potion, is a cologne, not an eau de parfum, so it is gone really fast, like so many others have stated. On clothes it is somewhat detectable ...if you know it is there. I didn't pay a lot for my bottle, and I had tested the scent first, so I will not complain about the quality. Mad Potion is mainly watered down vanilla with a touch of berries to my nose, and I decided to buy it on sale simply because I liked it from spray one. Sweet, light and uncomplicated.

CelinaPerfume

It's a vanilla but smells a bit cheap/ plasticky/ dry/ flat/ apple-y? I can also hardly smell anything on my wrist after a few minutes. Disappointing, I won't buy another bottle and only really use it as a room refreshener now

NoorbBelgium

This is extremely sweet, creamy, warming, and floaty. The epitome of vanilla, in my opinion. Vanilla orchid, Apple, and Peony are the top notes; Bourbon Vanilla, Musk, and Jasmine are the middle notes; and Vanilla, Musk, and Amber are the base notes. This smells absolutely delicious. Vanilla sugar bomb with moderate silage and a 3-4 hour longevity.

Angel Indy

I like this perfume a lot. It is a very vanilla dominate perfume, which I love. My boyfriend likes it and always compliments me. The only problem with it is that it just doesn’t last at all. It fades so quickly and no one can smell me. After initial spray, it lasts 30 minutes and then it’s gone. I love the smell but it just doesn’t last on my skin.

soymilky

This to me smells more like b&bw vanilla bean noel minus the caramel note than vs vanilla lace, It's okay for layering but I don't think the full size would be something I really need for my collection.
Edit: I take back everything I just said. I need this in my life 😫 I decided to give it another chance and wore it on its own and it pretty much grew on me ❤️

amyaz

Definitely doesn't smell Iike Vanilla Lace from VS; I can see how it'd remind someone of VL but they don't smell similar to me. Currently have them both on so I could compare.
However, Pacifica's Island Vanilla perfume smells almost identical to this, so much so I couldnt figure out which is which on my arm.
This is a summery vanilla, for some reason I can't imagine wearing it in winter.

princesslopez4890

At first I don’t get much. Then the vanilla starts to shine through. Can’t go wrong for the price, it is what it is. I intend to use this for layering!

symphony5mvmt3

I really like this scent but I wish it lasted longer. It's a lovely vanilla with a velvety lily-like edge (probably the vanilla orchid). Quite a comforting safe scent. If I find a perfume with a more prominent orchid note that also lasts more than 3 hours, I would definitely buy that and wear it to death.

sophie sanderson

This is just so nice this is better than killer queen it's so pretty as a scent I would say it's a gentle femenine vanillary cloud of gourmande sugary goodness that you just want to kp smelling i wouldnt even say its too childish i think any woman any age could wear this this is really well made even though the bottle is a bit crazy looking and not to my taste not so femenine looking

TabledThoughts

There is a range of different vanillas in the world and this fragrance happens to highlight Vanilla Orchid.
Although there are a few other notes in this perfume vanilla orchid is the star.
I like the scent quite a bit but it is very weak.
Brought back which greater lasting power and more mature packaging(although I think the current bottle is cute) I believe this could be a big hit.

katntem

''Mad Love'' is a vanilla HEAVEN!!! I LOVE that perfume!!! It has a lot of vanilla and bourbon vanilla as well, I love vanilla in perfumes, it is very light and powdery but very very sweet!! So be careful with this one if you don't like very sweet scents! It reminds me of the blue 'Harribo' candy that I used to eat as a little girl and I have ALWAYS LOVED that smell!!! So when I smelled it it reminded me immediately of that candy!! It's one of my favorites but I don't wear it every day as sometimes I find it myself [that I love sweet scents] a little bit too sweet. Longevity is not the best but on me it lasts decently.
By the way follow me on Instagram, on Twitter and on My YouTube channel Catherine Ntemou

pilardavg

I guess this is a guilty pleasure of mine? Yes, it’s a pretty basic vanilla scent. It’s not a refined vanilla, some could say it’s childish, but I love it. It’s gourmand and really nice. I don’t have much problems with the longevity on my skin, it’s not eternal but it lasts a few hours, at least for me. I can even smell a vanilla cookie, it’s delicious! Perfect for winter and fall.

bella1019

i thought this was an okay perfume when it launched but now i despise it on me and from the bottle/ lid even on paper i hate it, just a sour mess!! it’s so strong it just smells like little kid fake perfumes and the alcohol in this is more prominent then the actual notes, even though i hate this now and don’t understand why people like this, i was at the hairdressers and my stylist was wearing this on her wrist and the dry down actually smelt really really good it was so soft and airy like a marshmallow! so i’m gonna give it a try again i just don’t see myself wearing this :(

UnearthlyApothecary

I haven’t given this one a go in a loooong time I couldn’t even find my original review if in fact I wrote one. I can’t remember if I smelled any apple or florals in this way back when I first tried it but all I get now is vanilla musk. I remember like everyone else being really disappointed in Mad Potion’s performance. I have finally revisited this after about 5 years so my bottle is pretty well aged and MAN it’s so much better then I remembered. Honestly I think this one needs to age, just put it away and forget about it for a few years. It’s without a doubt improved. Perfect vanilla musk for bedtime. I usually like musks vanillas or lavenders for bed. It’s still pretty skin close but hoping for good longevity

sweetrich7

Was so excited when I got this but omg what a letdown. I smell …. nothing? Does anyone literally not smell anything? I can spray this 20 times and I’ll get maybe a vanilla water scent for 30 seconds then nothing. It’s like there are no notes in this scent. I don’t know what this is trying to do. Flat, boring, weak.

Jedazion

PERFECT LAYERING FRAGRANCE. On its own, this fragrance is... nice. But believe me when I tell you this fragrance is the perfect fragrance to mix with other perfumes especially other fruity, sweet perfumes. This fragrance adds such a nice dose of vanilla, sweetness and warmth to whatever fragrance you mix it with. It layers amazingly with at least half of my collection. My favourite perfumes to combine this with would be, ari (ariana grande), princess (vera wang) and even island fantasy (Britney spears), but it works beautifully with many many more. And I also find that when I layer this fragrance it lasts much longer. So in conclusion, if you want to elevate whatever perfumes you own, DEFINITELY try adding this to it.

Dort0625

I got a cute gift set of this with a perfume and two bath bombs for $19.99 at SDM as per usual!! And really glad I did! It is so pretty, vanilla, fresh, floral, girly. It is on the younger side of fragrances, being that my 9 year old, her two best friends (9 and 7) my 13 year old and her best friend also 13 all loooooved this. So I may end up either putting it in the bathroom as a room spray (my kids steal so many of my perfumes and do that!!!! Grrrrr lol) but I’m okay with the kids keeping it. It’s a nice smell and I could see it brings relaxing smell to fall asleep to in the fall/winter.

Melylamash

It's literally just vanilla. I don't pick up on any powdery notes, just vanilla. Not offensive, I just don't think I'd even consider buying it again if given the chance. I would just buy some generic bath and body works vanilla body mist. There's more juice in that and it lasts longer, and it would smell more complex.

natasha28

Review is for my own future reference - I LOVED the first time I smelled it. It's a very sweet warm yummy vanilla. However, it's a sickly sweet fragrance that I'd likely get sick of wearing every day. It also had very very weak longevity when I bought it (~2015). I bought and returned this perfume b/c I was a student at the time and didn't want to waste money on a perfume that didn't last long. If gifted to me now I would keep it and I've thought about repurchasing it before. Overall, a very yummy scent for high school/uni aged, but it doesn't last long.

Edit: I just bought a 100ml bottle. The first spray has a strong alcohol scent. the dry down is still a beautiful yummy warm sweet vanilla. However, the silage is still VERY weak. Lasting power is okay. I agree like some others have said, that you could probably buy a cheaper body spray that smells the same. I still LOVE this though. I wish the sillage and longevity were better though bc it is SERIOUSLY lacking! I'm surprised that so many people dislike it!

gnoosmegan

Extremely weak - I'm really not exaggerating. Even body mists last longer than this! For something that is supposed to be an Eau de Parfum, this perfume lasts not longer than 10 minutes on the skin and has absolutely no projection. The scent itself is nice, sweet, and vanilla - and won't cause a headache. But the projection and sillage is just so terrible that you're better off buying a vanilla body mist from Body Fantasies, VS or even BBW. I JUST sprayed it on and I literally cannot smell it or even detect/rmb where i sprayed it because it didn't even leave a trace. It's unfortunate, especially as someone who LOVES vanilla, I was really excited for this fragrance :(

Veizi

Ugh, this smells very nice, but it lasts not even an hour. I’m not exaggerating, sadly it’s very very weak.

Mariana Arias

Vanilla and plastic doll heads. That’s the review

RyRamone

I simply love it ❤ Powdery sweet vanilla. Best cheap celebrity perfume, unfortunately lasts around 4h on clothes.

wookiesen

This is a generic and safe vanilla and flower fragrance suitable for kids and teens. You get what you pay for with this, it lasts okay and i good to use in school. That´s about it.

Kristensvanity

I don’t understand the negative reviews on this perfume. The first spray is very chemical smelling, but the dry down in less than 3 minutes is soft bourbon vanilla with a little bit on amber. It’s a unique vanilla fragrance and for the price it can’t be beat. Definitely doesn’t have longevity and the projection could be better but the scent isn’t bad at all, it’s worth to try for the price. I was really shocked by how formal and expensive it smelled.

lulu169

a big let down...i blind bought this coz was only 5€ in set with bath bombs but i consider it money out of the window coz 100% identical to Yves Rocher vanilla which i already own. even the ridiculous weakness and non existent silage are same. hopefully i can use at least the bath bombs. my full 30ml bottle is ready for swap

sassa7

So is this what cupcake dolls are made of? a lilac purple potion? Were witches chemists btw? always mixing potions and sh*t. I spent my early childhood (the last generation of the good times, 89 baby here) smelling the purple lavender gummy dress of my cupcake doll usually during the summer, even biting it, and I always wished I could wear that scent, smell like my doll, (dress like my doll lol). Turns out I delayed to acquire this magic potion and I hate how long I was rejecting it thinking "oh another childish sugar bomb", not giving it a chance. Stupid of me cuz Katy Perry has some of my favorite perfumes and they never go bad, well except Mad love that smelled dusty after awhile. Apart from the florals and the fruit notes listed, that I detect none basically, or do I even care to detect, NO I DONT, there is something like playdoh here (not almond-like), something so edible, exactly what made me bite my doll's gummy skirt as a kid! Im 31 and when I wear this and leave the house I feel so young again and playful. These days its the perfume I go for when I feel sexy and carefree. As a kid Id have guessed that this is where my doll bathed in, this lilac-lavender purple juice lol. So! Straight up purple cupcake doll from beginning to end, it stays true, doesnt change at all to my nose and I absolutely love it for that, its thick and cannot be dissected. I spray it on my neck and arms, and even the days I go perfume hunting (why am I always searching for new addictions idnt know. Well I know, Im greedy) I spray 5-6 other perfumes on me, and on my way home I get a whiff of that potion from my neck reminding me "Im here and you wont get over me". I grew so fond of it. Some say Clinique's Cocoa and Cashmere smells like it.. uhh I have both, not much.. kinda similar yes, but I think Mad Potion is unique, its like artificial ice cream flavor lol. Even if I have tried some of the suggested dupes on here, no, nothing exactly like it. And yes I agree with others, its not a perfume, that was always my verdict when I was snobby and trying to discover real perfumes. It's not a typical perfume, it's a potion dang it haha! It transforms you into a cupcake doll. Thats what I love about it, its playful and juvenile. I dont always wanna smell like "perfume" angelic florals, or seriousness and seductiveness or high class fruit salads, but as a potion on a happy witch's hand lol or Breyer's ice cream factory.

RubyRedCancer

I was very offended by this perfume when it first came in as a blind buy. I spritzed some in the box to get a feel for it and it was just chemical smelling nonsense. It didn't smell like perfume at all, just a toxic chemical.
I let it sit on the shelf for a couple weeks and tried it on today and it's very lovely. I think the sprayer needed emptying out or something.
On today's wear:
An initial blast of alcohol that soon died down into a lovely vanilla fragrance. Whoever below said fresh glazed Krispy Kreme donut nailed it. I did not find this scent weak as other reviewers, although I do agree that longevity could be better. I don't get any weird chemical vibes at all.
I'm sitting here almost 4 hours after applying and I don't yet feel the need to spray again (it probably does sit closer to the skin now that when I first sprayed). I project this will last about 6-8 hrs on me.
I'm actually kind of impressed by this celebrity fragrance. I expected something that smelled super synthetic and gone in 2 minutes. I didn't expect to get a beautiful vanilla scent that lasts for hours. I'm not great with notes or reviewing perfumes, but this isn't just a plain vanilla scent to me. It's more gourmand like a sweet vanilla, perhaps with some caramel. Keep in mind that this is a more simple fragrance. It's not complex or terribly deep, but sometimes simplicity can be beautiful. I don't think this is as good as Jessica Simpson's Fancy, but it isn't a bad buy if you happen across a cheap bottle.

takema

The Katy Perry fragrances I have tried are disappointing.
Mad Potion is boring and weak. The performance is abysmal. Saying it lasts an hour would be generous. The sillage is non-existent.

It’s a bland, sweet vanilla with no character. It’s not an unpleasant fragrance, just pointless.
The packaging does nothing to save this fragrance. It’s pretty cheap and tacky looking, and not in a fun way like Purr and Meow.

Madyana

Old-fashioned vanilla with zero performance.

Doroty

Exactly like vanilla cream donut. Very close to the skin. Not fruity, like it. As it’s colder outside I tend to use more heavier perfumes, I mean more vanilla based ones. Maybe is not longlasting but it’s very intimate. If you or your partner likes goumands - vanilla donut (to be exact) than go for it! 😊

Dabarefootbombshell

I realize that I am becoming a bit of a fragrance snob so I've been trying to get into more "cheapies" that come highly recommended. I have some hits and a lot of inexpensive misses. This scent will fall under the miss category for me. It smells like a lady who is wearing an OK Paris Hilton perfume while making a mayonnaise sandwich. Meow by Katy Perry is a much better vanilla. I highly doubt these celebrities even smell this crap they plaster their name on it for a quick buck. My experimenting is over for a while though as some of these "cheapies" are just made with zero thought of the wearer in mind. Enough is enough.

iammelody

On my skin it’s linear-ish vanilla, with a hint of Granny Smith apple. There’s little lasting power, if any. I do like this though, and I’ll wear it around the house and even to work sometimes. It’s inoffensive, girly and young and it’s great for a young person or a young at heart who would like a little pick-me-up through the day.
I appreciate this and I’m happy to have it, but it’s easy to get bored of.

Phantomias

MP opens big with a blast of vanilla extract and quickly dries down to a subdued sugary scent. Performance is below average, sillage is almost nil.
If one wants a warm sugary vanilla without the sharp overtones of Casmir, MP is the one to buy. Casmir does have far better sillage and lasting power, but it's not to everyone's taste precisely because it's so powerful.
Strangely enough, for the price of MP one can get a small flacon of Casmir.
I received MP as part of a collection of celeb scents. Quite a few of them perform better while some are weak.
The presentation of MP is disappointingly cheap, reminiscent of a dollar store knock off frag. What, a pretty bottle would have busted the budget?

Mamitasblog23

basic bitch boring plain worst than bbw body sprays

Patricia888

Very plain and boring. I love vanilla but this does not stand out in any way. I have so many vanilla based perfumes that I would never ever reach for this one, so this one has to go.

Jasmindee

Sweet, delicious vanilla... Then nothing.

I ordered this for about £6 just so I could get free postage with another perfume order, and I think the price reflects the juice. I've had body sprays that have lasted longer than this.

I actually think this might be worse than Ariana Grande's Moonlight in terms of vanishing on the skin the second you apply it.

A shame, as I really love the dreamy, vanilla donut smell, but it's just gone in seconds. It had so much potential, but it's so watered down it's unreal. I have the EDP version as well, and I have my nose pressed into my skin like a mad woman, and even after six sprays, I can hardly smell it.

Will sell this one on.

catmeow

Well, this is the first scent in my collection that is basically neutral.. there is some distant vanilla, but it's gone before I can even describe it, I guess a body mist has better longevity than this, so what's the point, shouldn't there be some twist judging by the name? Can't we have a 'mad vanilla' or can someone please reformulate this to an oddity? Would have loved that.

Love the bottle though. :)

nirvana95

This a nice, warming vanilla scent and perfect to layer with other fragrances. It doesn't have much projection and little longevity but it is very inexpensive so it's ok to spray a lot of it without guilt! It reminds me of my first ever grown up fragrance I had, L'occitane's Vanille. It is a linear vanilla and doesn't really develop into anything else. I appreciate it's simplicity and it's a great option if you want something sweet but not sickly sweet!

🖤🌸💜🌸🖤I was so excited to get the gift set today off of EBay for 23.00 ....WOW I looooOoooove it...I imagine Snow White wearing this 🍎 What a little magical enchanting bottle and scent. The bottle is just too cute I love the cap it has glitter inside it just darling my signature look is glittery lips. I love round bottles this one is not cheap it's heavy frosted glass. I got the gift set that included Mad Love and this one both 1 ounce bottles. I'll review Mad Love next. But let me envelope my senses in this magenta coloured delightful juicy fragrance first. First spritz REALLY is like a scent of a waterfall of a 🔮BEWITCHING potion. It takes me away to a dreamy place delight..relaxing. Nothing offensive. Soft and delicate. I detect the apple peony and orchid most of all but not strong 🍦vanilla. I love it. It is very different than her other's. Not as sweet that's what I like.I smell 🍉 even though its not in the formula. It also smells like caramel after a half hour. Yummmmy. Just yummmy. My favorite scents are light light gourmand skin scents light and airy and this perfume defines just that. It's been 10 minutes and the scent is still lingering softly. I smell hints of 🍨vanilla now but not heavy. Wow I love this alot. ... It smells whimsical of something I've smelled in the past. I want a big bottle now because it looks so cute on my vanity. 🍭

Ps. Congrats to Katy having her 1st baby. 🌼🌼🌼🌼

rosegoldrosie

The only note I can detect in this is a watered-down smelling vanilla, and after spraying this, it literally disappeared after about 2 minutes, which was disappointing. Would have to be my least favourite of Katy's range. However- I love the bottle! I think it is really cute, and it reminds me of the true love potion that Shrek stole from the fairy godmother lol :)

TheNoseOfMyths

I was gifted this by someone a few years ago and as soon as I smelled it I got a flashback of playing with my Littlest Pet Shops when I was a kid. It smelled EXACTLY like them. Which was Nostalgic, but I wouldn't want to walk around smelling like that. Its a soft, powdery, artificial vanilla mixed with a hint of plastic.

sibaraa

A nice sweet vanilla scent that disappears after 2 mins. I mean really???

mevans

Oh dear, I have to confess ... I really like this one. It's girly and fun, very sweet and maybe a bit too much for some but I can't help myself. I like it. I wore it to the movies last night and I could catch whiffs of it every now and then when I shifted in my seat. Projection is good, longevity is decent at about 4-5 hours. I can understand the comments about it being a fragrance mist type of scent. It's not complex, that's true. It's basic sweet vanilla and floral. But I bought it when it had already dropped in price and I really like it for what I paid.

perfumeholic88

Katy is probably a big fan of vanilla by Yves Rocher. She uses it with a passion both spray as well as a lotion and washing gel and she decided that if they offered her to signature another fragrance, there is nothing to do then trying to make an exact copy of Vanilla YR. Mad Potion is the singer's worst scent. Vanilla itself and nothing else, although if the composition would be durable and could be sniffed for hours, I couldnt write such a critic review but it is not. It's a vanilla fragrance mist. If you move it to the bulky YR bottle, you'll have the same fragrance.I Don't know why to release something so miserably unsuccessful. Are the ideas over yet? If so, come on Katy!

aussiecolognelover88

Basic sweet vanilla. It was on special for $16.99 so I thought I’d get it to add to the collection. It’s nice, nothing special, it opens very sweet candy, and then dries down into creamy vanilla. Very soft and pretty. Cute bottle.

moonsunstars

I am definitely glad that this was part of a three dollar gift set. This is quite possibly the worst performing fragrance I own. It's a shame, because it really smells quite good! It almost smells like Licorice at first, but it settles to a soft Vanilla musk. However the scent is so faint, that not even an hour later, it's gone. I'd say if you're looking for something that performs much better, you should try Body Fantasies Signature Vanilla. It's basically the exact same fragrance, only in a body mist......Funny thing is, it lasts like an EDT or EDP.

Danai

When I decided to blind buy this, I had already read the reviews so my expectations were already pretty low. I got it just because it was described as a dupe for BBW Vanilla Bean Noel, which I love but isn't available in my country, unfortunately. And in that regard it did not disappoint:it really is very similar. It also reminds me of a much softer Pink Sugar minus the licorice. So the scent, for me, is exactly what I was hoping to get: sugary, caramelized vanilla and not much else. However, not even all these reviews could really prepare me for how incredibly, disappointingly weak it is. When I first sprayed it on, I literally could not smell it. It was pretty shocking. I have heard about anosmia to certain scents before, but I had never had this experience myself, up to that point. Frankly if I wasn't informed on the matter, I would certainly have assumed I got a fake or a bad bottle and returned it. I find it disconcerting that this product was put on the market in this form. How did the company not notice that they are selling a body, If not deodorant spray and calling it an EDP? Anyway, fortunately I do manage to smell this on me after spraying it extremely liberally, but it is literally like using a body spray. It's OK as a subtle vanilla for home or very casual situations when sprayed literally everywhere from my hair to my knees, and that's it. It was cheap so no great harm done, but still the quality is abysmal.

Minted

On me, this is a vanilla musk/powder scent. I do love this but It is very 'I need to be in the mood'. I do smell florals but not apple, nothing too fruity.

Beth325

As far as scent goes I love this one! Performance however is lacking a bit.

This is very much a sweet vanilla scent. I understand what people are saying that you can't detect a ton of the other notes, but I'm okay with that, because I love vanilla so much and have been looking for a mostly vanilla scent. Remember, this fragrance contains a vanilla in the top, middle, and base notes. There is also musk in top, middle, and base. Three different vanillas and three different musks. So you are mainly getting vanilla and a bit of musk. To me it smells a bit like vanilla bean ice cream. I feel like if this was super strong maybe the sweetness would be too much, so I appreciate that it's not screechingly sweet, however I do wish the performance was a bit better. The scent doesn't disappear instantly on my skin, but it does fade a bit faster than I'd like. The projection isn't the best either. I have the roller ball in addition to the spray bottle, so I reapply throughout the day. I find Mad Love performs a bit better, but I prefer the scent of Mad Potion. So overall a delicious scent, just needs to perform better.

kristamb

I honestly don't mind this one at all. It's nice-sweet, creamy, and a bit sugary. It is very light, but I have the rollerball bottle, so I can easily re-apply. It is mainly vanilla to my nose, but I do appreciate its subtle scent. I don't want to offend anyone around me, especially those who don't care for vanilla! I like this one, and I am happy I've added it to my vanilla collection.

LilMissLecter

To me, I couldn't really smell any of the notes. As a whole it smelled like liquorice all-sorts. Sickly sweet and cloying.
I regretted putting on my skin immediately and no matter how hard I scrubbed, the smell wouldn't go away and it turned my stomach.

GlowafterLove

Nothing really mad or potiony about this.
Quite the opposite actually.
It's just vanilla. That's it.
Just your plain vanilla.
Very boring.
Think of a real soft vanilla candle that you can only smell when sniffing real close.
Yawn...

jadedwallflower99

Considering how impressed I was with Katy’s previous scents, I did initially have high hopes for this one. However, I did feel a bit discouraged after reading some of the negative reviews here, and now that I’ve tested the fragrance for myself, I can certainly see why it has such a bad rep. Almost no other notes can be detected aside from the subtle scent of vanilla cream. While not a bad scent by any means, it should be noted that the vanilla notes are extremely weak, and almost smell as if someone diluted half the bottle with water.
While I do consider myself a vanilla enthusiast, I must say that if I wanted a scent this simplistic I’d probably stick with Body Fantasies Vanilla, considering it is far cheaper. Some other issues I have with this fragrance are the sillage and longevity. It takes over a dozen sprays before the scent becomes even remotely noticeable on the skin; and once you are able to smell it, it only lasts for less than 30 minutes or so.
While I can’t exactly say I hate this fragrance, overall, I do feel as though this was a disappointing buy. However, with all that being said, I'm at least thankful I didn't have to spend TOO much money on it, considering this perfume used to retail at a far higher price a few years ago.

carrico1986

If you want to smell like watered down vanilla extract then this is the perfume for you.

I don't smell any of the other notes listed.

cyyong29

Not really liking this one. It smells more like vanilla candle than fragrance.

However, it may be good for layering with other fragrances e.g. citrus/stronger scent if you want to add some sweetness or creamy vanilla base.

JesperBlacxxi

Insanely sweet. Love it. To me it’s vanilla, and a lot of it, but with an almost synthetic berry note to it? I don’t know what it is, but there’s something tarte to it.
I like the bottle, but I don’t feel like it suits the sweet vanilla scent.
The spillage is average, and the longevity is poor on me, but not tragic.
Overall? 10/10 scent, 6/10 perfume as a whole.

My Thoughts:✨
I think this perfume was a wasn't worth it (luckily it was on for sale for $20, the real price is over $50!).
Its sillage is soft and the longevity is poor. I wear this to school and it only lasted a few months before running out. Why? Because I had to spray over 20 sprays so you could actually smell something of this cheap fragrance.
The bottle I will keep and showcase it in my wardrobe.
I overall think that the fragrance would have been worth it if the sillage and longevity were better.

Stasi

This is an overpriced version of Bath and Body Works' Vanilla Bean Noel. Save your money people!

AHeartLikeMine

I didn't smell vanilla in this at all. It reminded me of bubble gum with a powdery finish. It only lasted a few minutes on my skin.

samantham-123

I tried this while trying mad love at chemist warehouse, the sales assistant just said " Mad loves so much nicer, in my opinion than mad potion, see try it" and just sprayed it on my arm lol. She sprayed quite liberally and i got nothing after about 10 minutes, literally in the time it took me to walk around the store and have a look at some other fragrances it was completely gone.
The brief waft of fragrance that i did get from it was quite nice though, but hardly, HARDLY worth purchasing at all given its lasting time.
I was actually really happy that the girl did show me it as i would always be wondering..
I got the bottle of Mad potion though, that ones a definate win for me, i have bith Royal Revolution and Killer queen so I am a fan of her fragrances, but this one was a definate flop

Soofiya

I should have paid attention to fragranticans opinion on it's similar perfume.Katy Perry mad potion and body fantasies signature vanilla are more than 90% similar. It's both a good news and a bad news for me.the good news is that I love BF signature vanilla.it's a bad news because I already have signature vanilla and I bought a huge(236 mil bottle)for 8$ while I paid 38$ for my 100mil bottle of mad potion!so it's almost 10 times more expensive while the only differences I can feel are:
1.their bottle! I'm one of those guys that bottle matters a lot for me.I can't resist a gorgeous or unique bottle but I'm not fond of mad potion's bottle.if it was a kitten bottle I had to have it.even if it's bottle was similar to killer queen line,I'd like it more.all in all not a bad packaging, definitely way better than body fantasies signature vanilla bottle.mad potion's bottle looks childish and like potion bottles in cartoons.but it's easy to hold in hand and I like it's purple liquid and that I can see how much is left.I usually dislike touching frosted bottles but this is one of the exceptions which doesn't bother me.if I want to rate mad potion's box and bottle I'd give it 3 out of 5
2.the overall scent is very similar to signature vanilla as mentioned before.they both have apple in their pyramid which I can't detect in any of these two.both smell like vanilla cotton candy.fluffy, powdery, sweet and simple and a hint of musk.
mad potion opens so much alcohol that I can't smell it closely in it's first two minutes.but soon alcohol fades away and vanilla shows up.this stage is common between both fragrances, maybe the only difference is that soft touch of florals is more noticeable in mad potion(still very very light)and that mad potion is very faint that I feel I have applied a mixture of water, sugar and alcohol while wearing vanilla signature is like sleeping on a cloud of vanilla cotton candy
what lingers on skin for long hours in vinalla signature is a soft musky vanilla.smooth,clean,yummy,marshmallowy,sensual.It's oh so pretty.but in mad potion what lingers on skin after about 40 minutes is NOThING!!
Longevity isn't usually a problem for me as I'm ok with reapplying perfumes, what I really care about is sillage and unfortunately madpotion is weak in both cases.so weak.I can only smell it for half an hour and it's if I stick my nose to the exact place I sprayed it
So I agree that mad potion and vanilla signature are similar but believe me the latter is hundred times better.do yourself a favor and buy signature vanilla of body fantasies instead which comes in huge bottles and is super cheap.lasts long and has great sillage and dries down to a heavenly vanilla scent
If I go back in time I would never ever do this blindbuy.I have four other katy perry perfumes(meow, purr, killer queen, royal revolution)all were very successful blindbuys but mad potion didn't worth buying for me though it doesn't smell bad.
So I'm a loyal vanilla lover,I also love musk and powdery scents.I love collecting celebrity perfumes and I'm a fan of Katy Perry perfumes still mad potion is a no-no and a huge disappointment for me
Edit:
It's two months later,I gave mad potion another go and still it's a NO for me.it lasts one or two more hours and others can smell it on me for a while when I douse myself in it.I mean more than twenty sprays.but it opens as alcohol-vanilla,continues as plain, softly powdered vanilla and dries down to cheap, plastic vanilla.
Still I'd love to try madlove but unfortunately it hasn't reached here yet

addiehominem

No joke, when I sprayed this on a strip at Kohl's today my immediate thought was 'VODKA????' It smells like 80 proof potato juice! I was really curious about what the notes are because I didn't have my phone on me when I tested it and I'm surprised this has anything other than floor cleaner in it. I get no vanilla or warmth from this. I know there's a low bar for celeb fragrances but this was just bad...

I might revisit when I muster the courage to put it on my skin.

charlie.aeroplane

I perceive this like a drunk person would smell(not in a bad way), its really boozy, but kinda interesting, too bad that even if its strong is short lasting.
I don't think its generic, like pink sugar. To be honest, the beginning reminds me of Jeu d'Amour l'Elixir Kenzo, not that is similar, just my nose makes a shadow of correlation with it.

ElliCoco

This is a lot of vanilla. If you're a fan of sweet fragrances you'll probably like Mad potion, but don't expect something interesting. On me the longevity was less than 1 hour unfortunately.

Dua86

So iv had this for a long time and although it fits into the kind of perfumes i like-mostly gourmands, theres something that i couldnt put my finger on that was giving me a headache. I sprayed and sniffed this many a times whilst reading through the notes on here and i realised it must be the musk that i couldnt get over. Gutted that i cant really wear it, as it totally fits my perfume collection but alas iv resigned it to the back of my perfume wardrobe.

jayneybaby86

If you like straight up vanilla scents, then you will like this. Can't complain with the £11.95 price tag for 100ml. This is more of a sweet buttercream type vanilla, like a Yankee candle vanilla frosting type scent.
I do prefer the mad love flanker of this although this is still really nice.
I love all of Katy's fragrances and I own most of them. If you want a bakery sweet vanilla scent then this is for you.

BeMyFragrance

Oh Katy! I love your perfumes but this one....NO!! It smells like nothing, absolutely nothing! I was so disappointed by this because I love Perry's scents. Oh well, I will still buy her products, just not this one ever again.

If you're new to fragrance like me, I would heavily recommend this. Maybe it's just the bottle I have (purchased in a pack with Mad Love at Walmart), but at first, when I sprayed this, the sillage was incredibly soft, and I could barely smell a thing. As I've sprayed more of it, the scent has started to come out of its shell, and I love it; I don't have to spray as much anymore to get the full effect. I would definitely advise people to not write off this fragrance's sillage right away. To me, it's very comforting and warmly sweet, and if you love vanilla, you're sure to love this!

JessicaRabbit

A perfume that's start out as quite fruity, the strawberries are the first note I detect. As it dries down it becomes very faint and marshmallowy. It's a very soft and sweet fragrance and I love it! Sadly it only clings to the skin but perhaps layering it with a lotion may help.
Not a Katy fan despite having her basic perfume collection but I'll give her credit for picking great scents.
Not a fan of the potion designs. How on earth did it go from pretty diamonds and cats to something this basic?! The bottle looks a lot like a toy and in this case matches the lack of longevity in this fragrance.

lozylaura1995

I love this perfume and love wearing it, however, it has very low sillage and longevity which is really annoying. it can come with a strong smell of alcohol but wait a minute or 2 and it will settle quite nicely on my skin.
I also use this to give my bed a soft sweetness, I can sleep with this on easily and does not affect my hayfever which can be a real problem with a lot of perfumes for me.
very vanilla, soft and musky. nice for wearing indoors during Autumn. also, i really love the bottle, a special little potion makes it feel more magical.

Overall not a very sophisticated scent but nice and gentle, suitable for young carefree women who want to slowly adjust to using perfume and don't want to overpower.

I DO LOVE THIS THOUGH! i have gone through 2 100ml bottles of this, and you will too if you buy it as you do need to reapply more often.

missk

Katy Perry's Mad Potion is either a love it or a hate it. Rather than being a sweet fruity floral like her well-received Killer Queen and Purr, Mad Potion is a sweet musky fragrance.

Many celebrities as of late are adding a heavy musk accord to their fragrances. Justin Bieber's Someday and Nick Minaj's Pink Friday are just a few examples. Musky celebrity scents are in my opinion the most polarising as they'll either appeal or repel.

Mad Potion is a vanilla musk that often smells chocolatey to my nose, not unlike a more synthetic version of the now discontinued Aquolina Chocolovers. Unfortunately it's fairly linear from start to finish and not great in regards to its longevity.

Katy Perry would have been far better off making Mad Potion a sugary fruity floral, as that's a genre she tends to do reasonably well. Mad Potion is admittedly my least favourite from Katy Perry's range. It's a shame actually as I don't mind the packaging and the quirky, Cabaret-inspired advert.

If seeking a fragrance that resembles musk lollies, Mad Potion is one to try. However if you're anything like me and prefer to avoid synthetic musks like the plague skip this fragrance entirely.

0h.wow

Katy Perry comes up with yet another winner! Vanilla lovers-you NEED to try this. Ok, first off, I don't get any plastic notes in this at all, it's compared to VS Vanilla Lace which on me is the epitome of burning plastic, but Mad Potion is a smooth, creamy, sweet, and realistic vanilla. On me it smells much more like Indult Tihota or Outremer Vanille (minus the cotton candy, thank god) than any of the other perfumes it's supposed to smell similar to. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that it's the closest cheap dupe for Tihota I've tried! It's awesome because I love Tihota, but it's honestly so linear that I can't really fathom paying $200 for it until I'm rich ;) This is actually more complex! It's still pretty straightforward, don't get me wrong (I get vanilla, musk, and orchid and that's pretty much it, there are some other subtle nuances but it's all about the vanilla). I'm totally in love with the bottle and name too, the concept of it being a potion is so appealing to me because as a little girl I saw perfumes as magic potions, everything about MP is so magical and whimsical. I really don't get all the hate for this, it's wonderful!

guillermostf

mmm what to say... i like Katy Perry as a singer but let's talk 'bout my perception of this perfume: at the begginiing smells like barbe a papá (cotton candy or sugar cotton candy). After these seconds, something medicinal stay in the air. Yes, is sweet. I can't smell apple and jasmine.

AnitaHendricks

Vanilla! Lots of vanilla. This note overwelms all others. This perfume smells like candles or cheap diffuser oil on my skin. I don't like it but I have to say it's long lasting. I could notice the amber and musk after ten hours.

amy1983

I realize that this is a simple vanilla scent, with a slight chocolate accord, with not much else going on. But I must say, that's why I love it so much! So simple, yet so comforting! It is a skin scent,so it does not project as much as I would like it to. But,the price point is fantastic! Since the price has come down,I was able to score a big bottle at a very reasonable price. I actually paid less for my 3.4 oz. that I bought last week, than what I paid for the small gift set when it first came out.
At first I thought the bottle was tacky, but now I see the bottle as whimsical! Awesome frosted bottle, purple juice, and I love the whole idea of this being a potion! So yes, this has been done to death, but it sure makes me feel happy! Yeah,KATY!

jennyxpanda

I love this fragrance!!! It reminds me of a watered down version of angel which is appropriate to wear to the work place without offending anyone.
If you love sweet vanilla I recommend this fragrance it is inexpensive but you must spray a lot of sprays and it will last much longer. It will last on my skin and clothes 6+ hours with multiple sprays.

mpbrown

First I want to say that I like it, it's a nice vanilla with an orchid accord, I love vanilla fragrances what's not to like? There is nothing wrong with it. I get no hairspray or plastic or anything offensive at all. It is sweet but not overly so. It lasts a decent amount of time on me, and it's inexpensive (bonus!). I'd also like to say that it's not anything novel. It's very much like BBW Vanilla Bean Noel, VS Vanilla Lace, etc. of this type. So if you already have something like this, then you may not want to spend the money on it. But if not, this is a nice fragrance if you are a vanilla fragrance lover.

Music_luver77

Very weak, boozy vanilla scent. I got a set for cheap so I don't feel too bad but am surprised Katy Perry put her name on this. She has other fragrances that have better longevity for sure. I only wear this before bed and spray freely.

thatsperf

Straight up vanilla and musk. Won't be out of place in a body spray aerosol can. Longevity is very poor. Very faint scent after 5 minutes. Someone has the gall of charging this 10 euros. 10 euros is too much. Come on Katy you could do better!

Mooncatt

I'm getting a soft, sweet, bourbon candy scent that's rather delicious.
Longevity remains to be seen, but, so far it's mixing well with my skin chemistry, as orientals are wont to do.

jenniferkuo423

This is straight up sugar vanilla on me; really cannot distinguish any other notes. Does not smell like actual perfume to me and I will never wear it "seriously" but, in all honesty, it is a very cozy and happy scent. Also lasts a surprisingly long time on my skin as well! Got a solid six/seven hours.

islandgirl2015

All vanilla & alcohol. Hoping Mad Love is all that Mad Potion isn't.

pearlbelle

While the notes to Mad Potion looked right up my alley, the bad reviews of this and Mad Love put me off both of the two for a long time. However, upon spotting Mad Potion in my drugstore, I decided to see if the bad reviews were justified and tried it out.
I will try out Mad Love after smelling this, it's definitely a vanilla fragrance, it's hard to pick out anything but. While it won't stand out in your collection, it's a casual perfume. If you want something fun and not at all serious, go for this one. It smells just a vanilla body spray and is perfect for colder months.

kessyster

I've decided to write another review as the first one was only the first impression. The last few times I've tried this one I have to agree with some of the comments here...this is just a bottle of alcohol denant with ' some' vanilla to it. Does last almost nothing ( very disappointing). Even a copy that I have from Mademoiselle Chanel from Lidl is much better ( and lasts) longer! As well my two body mist from Hawaiian tropics does a much better job ( either silage and longevity) than this so called perfume, Mad Potion. I am sorry to compare but I really can't find nothing good about Mad Potion. I got in my possession 2 bottles of Mad Love than is one of my favorite ( better silage, better scent and long lasting). I gonna stick with Mad Love instead. I shall delete my other review as feels a bit pointless after find out better about what mad love is really like.

Edit: I just got a third bottle of Mad Love to show how I appreciate much more this other one! Lol

Madrona

Yes, it's childish. This is the olfactory equivalent of My Little Pony backpacks with a Spice Girls lollipop accord (I was born in 1990, go figure). It's somewhat reminiscent of the drydown of Pink Sugar when the weird liquoricey note has faded.

If you look at the comments of any song that's older than 10 years on Youtube (sometimes older than five years is enough), you will see a heap of people lamenting their existence and wishing to go back to the simpler times the song in question is associated with. Nostalgia, just like vengeance, tends to be bittersweet. This is all sweetness.

maryvonbilodeau

I wish there was a "mah" rating because I don't dislike this perfume. It's perfectly non-offensive bland vanilla. It's light and doesn't last very long. If you like vanilla and you can buy it for less than Wild Madagascar Vanilla body spray at Bath & Body Works then get it, but it smells identical and probably costs more.

Perfume_lover5

I bought the Mad Potion perfume kit with the body lotion and shower gel. The perfume is a sweet vanilla soda mixed with vanilla syrup and vanilla sugar , while the body lotion and shower gel are more of a sweet vanilla milk. The longetivity is not very good , and only lasts for an hour and is a light soft scent. I like layering it with the shower gel and body lotion to make it last longer. It also works well layered with a vanilla body mist. The packaging is very pretty with the purple potion bottle and glitter cap. Overall , I think it is a lovely perfume and is perfect if you like sweet vanilla scents. I give this perfume 6.5 stars out of 10.

jennifer.korte

The scent doesn't last too long but its very sweet and vanilla.

_Lashes_

I saw a 50ml bottle in Tk Maxx for £10 so blind bought it. The opening is very alcoholic but once that dissipates you are left with a very faint vanilla that barely lingers for 30mins. I don't think it even qualifies as a skin scent! It smells like a watered down version of choco musk by Al Rehab (which i adore) but considering a roll on costs £2 on ebay and lasts all day, it's rendered my purchase of mad potion somewhat redundant. Disappointing.

Iloveperfume51

This has a very unique gourmand bubblegum-vanilla scent is the best way I can think of describing it that I couldn't see anyone who likes vanilla not liking it. It is a very comforting scent and I actually dont care for sweet perfumes but this is a different kind of sweet that isn't sickening. I had purchased a bottle a couple months ago and I reach for it so often that I'm already almost out. I think the bottle is also cute like a little bottle of potion. My only drawback is it comes with a slight alcohol smell but once the perfume develops it's lovely.

cmagjo04

I'm a huge fan of vanilla and sweet perfumes which is Katy Perry's speciality. I bought this without testing as it was a bargain in a January sale. I kept it ready to take on holiday and when I first sprayed it I was really disappointed. It's way too sweet for me which is rare. It is one that's definitely aimed at pre-teens and my 13 year old cousin loved it so it was not wasted.

QueenHypa27

Smells very sweet and sensitive, more like a night time perfume in my opinion. But this is really a very nice fragrance as well as Killer Queen, Can't wait for more of Katy's fragrances!

loilovesperfume

It was a blind buy for me. $25 usd for 100ml. I expected a lot to this perfume. That it will b like killer queens line. With a strong scents and very sexy. So i avail it. I was so excited to unboxed it when i go back home. I was amazed by the bottle. A frosted bottle with a purple fluid and purple cup and silver design. So i thought its a better scents because of the bottle and fluid. Then i spray it on my neck and wrist.. And im pretty disappointed! I cant smell anything! I try to sprayed it again. I just smelll a watery vanilla. I never thought it will b smell like tht.. Its so weak and so watery. Its not even good to call it eua de parfum. Ifs really weak. Yes i like the smell. But i wish its stronger one and have a good longevity and sillage. I need to sprayed it a lot. So i can smell the vanilla and musky scents.. This fragrance is for a child and not for mature people. I love the vanilla but i dnt love the watery scents on it.. Its like i put a vanilla liquid in a 1 gallon of water. I recommend this to a child and teen ager. The box is also made from a cheap soft cardboard..

Babybug99

This smells like vanilla bubblegum on me and I love it! It reminds me of the Body Fantasies mists Walmart sells. This is super girly. I got the matching lotion and it smells like funky bubblegum then it fades into vanilla.

cut_up_angelxxx

I had high hopes for this perfume based on the notes but this was by far the most awful perfume I've tried.

All I got when I sprayed it was an overpowering smell of rubbing alcohol, as if I'd opened a bottle and rubbed it all over myself. Even worse was the fact that I got absolutely no detectable perfume scent at all!! I tried the shower gel and lotion, still no scent in those either, and all from the same pack.

Bottle went right back to the store. I basically bought an expensive bottle of alcohol? Awful.

UnearthlyApothecary

Bought this in a gift set on clearance at Walmart. I used the shower gel, lotion and the perfume. This is pretty close to the skin. It smells like a modernized Vanilla Musk. It's pretty but it doesn't have the power I like in a fragrance. I mean I'm wearing the lotion AND the perfume and the only way I can smell is to REALLY sniff my arm. So people looking for a great low silage skin scent, this one is for you.

duchess_atreides

I wear this when I want comfort, my spirits to be lifted, and good memories to come flooding to me. I wore it during a conference to all the social activities I enjoyed because of someone in particular being present. I wore it on an exhausting plane trip of 3 flights home while listening to the same song over and over again for some 13 hours or more, thinking of my crush. Good memories are tied to it. I wear other perfumes but when I need one I can count on to be there for me, I wear this.

takeasniff

I love this it is just so comforting. It is a thick foggy vanilla but i love it. I know it is childish but i just dont care. Whenever i wear it and hug someone to say hello or goodbye they say you smell nice they are very surprised to hear its katy perry someone said they thought it was a cream i was wearing or shampoo or something they were not sure if it was perfume. If i spray this in my hair i get little wafts of it all the time i am surprised so many people think it is boring.
I cannot stand the bottle i undersrand the style it is but that just isnt for me but if you like the style it is quite sturdy and sprays nicely i wish she had stuck to the diamond shaped bottles dont think she is going back to those by the looks of things i think she has moved on from the killer queen theme and the cats.

lollipopsneeze

Mad Potion reminds me of Prada Candy! It's very gourmand sweet and smells like rich chocolaty vanilla musk with a bit of caramel. I have Prada Candy, but will probably buy Mad Potion instead when I run out of it.

JordyK

I like the scent, and wear the scent if I'm just hanging out at home or going to work.

But in all honestly, the bottle is hideous, and it does not sit with my other perfumes because it's just not a nice look.

7/10.

crazy_chic88

This perfume ain't too bad for everyday wear. It's a shame though that the longevity isn't that great but it's good enough for me to wear casually. It kinda reminds me of beach vibes for some reason which is good :)

Erinbath22

I smell this every day on a child in my class! She must be a big Katy Perry fan. I actually assumed it was a scented hairspray until I tested this at a Kmart on a whim. It's the sickly sweet cloud I smell every day surrounding this kid. It is very, very, very candy sweet, vanillary, and very, very strong. So maybe she oversprays?
Longetivity and sillage is also good. I can smell it just as loud at 2 as it was at 9am. Candy, vanilla syrup, way over-sugared vanilla to the point of being kind of unpleasant, at least to me.
Update: I smell this so much (daily) that it has grown on me and I get more of a powdery and less candied aspect of this.

lizzyllane

Quite nice for a celebrity fragrance! Picked it up at a pharmacy for only $24.95, liked it because to me it has similar notes to Britney Spears - In Control (Curious) which is another celebrity fragrance I'm partial to. I'd say if you like that Britney one then check this out.

Not usually into celeb fragrances, as I find them generic and watermelon-scented but those 2 definitely grab me.

kismetdaisy

I can spray half of this bottle, and within a second, the smell is non-existent. I can barely get a feel for what it smells like cause it has such poor longevity! When you first spray it, there's this overwhelming alcohol smell-- ultimately drying down to a very alcohol/plastic vanilla apple. This would be more appropriately sold at the disney store, or at the dollar store in the kid's section. I really hate to knock a perfume so bad, but this is kinda sad :( I wonder if this was meant for kids tho? Young teens? I see a lot of people raving about the bottle-- yeah, i don't see the appeal. I can typically roll with some pretty tacky bottles, but this one is too much for me to handle. I think if this had a nicer bottle, we wouldn't be so automatically biased toward the perfume. We might of made excuses for it, or maybe it wouldn't have been predisposed to such harsh judgement. But basing off first impression of the bottle, and then the scent itself.. all together it's just... Bad. I could say it's a kid's perfume-- but even kids perfumes are nicer and longer lasting than this. Vanilla is my favorite note--I figured this would be a definite like. It even smelled good at Kohl's --guess I was wrong. If you are craving a Katy Perry perfume with heavy vanilla, stick with Meow. It's beautiful, the bottle so cute and it's a true vanilla bomb.

Pinksugarplum03

I like this scent but at the same time, it is a little disappointing. It smells nice but the fragrance has no depth or further development, and it doesn't last very long even when I use the matching lotion.

duchess_atreides

I bought this last summer but didn't use it until a few days ago (I'd been busy with my signature lavender scent. But I decided to remember why I liked it a few months ago and I've been binging on it for a week now. Spraying at least 3 times a day. The longevity is ok, but I want to be smelling it continously, so I keep putting on more. Sillage is not strong, but it's ok. Enough for my fragrance personality to show, but not enough to choke people, especially since my tastes are a bit unusual.

I hear the strongest note is vanilla, but I don't feel vanilla at all with this one. Burned sugar, yes, but not vanilla. It also makes me feel warm, it reminds me of heat. I can tell it's going to be one of my all time favorites.

A friend says it smells like a very rich, dense, oversweet chocolate cake to her. Guess sweet scents are not very much liked.

AngelLove

A very cute perfume. I love it. It's soft and comforting, and very gentle. I think it's a lovely perfume. And I adore the bottle and the colour.

Pure Love

I LOVE Mad Potion. It's such a gorgeous delight of a perfume. Everything about it is gorgeous - the bottle (fabulous!), the colour, the lid, the box. Really wonderful. Very decorative and fun.

And the smell is absolutely lovely! Lasts very well, and envelopes me in a soft cloud of delicate sweetness for hours. Always picks me up, whether I need it or not. Sweet, but not cloying at all. Delicate, vanilla musk, with crisp apple, and soft and gentle flowers, and smooth amber. Soothing.

Such a good perfume. Adorable.

LenaT

Got this one really cheap. A small bottle. It is a musky sweet vanilla. Occasionally I wear it to work.

mmm777pisces

Terrific, super lovely perfume. Such a lovely smell, which lasts and lasts, all day at least, on me. It's so soft, vanillary and musky, with a lovely touch of apple, soft and delicate flowers, and soothing amber.

It's one of my very favourites, and I wear it a lot. It carries nicely to surround me, and I'm in a lovely soft cloud of it all day. Beautiful.

Love the bottle and the colour, and the wonderful box too!

Mbrock

I like this but wont be rebuying it simply because the lasting power is terrible. Unless I find it for $5.99 like one of the other reviewers. Its marshmallow to me mostly. It kind of reminds me of M by Mariah Carey but without the incense or the longevity.

sharyssa

Just bought a 1.0 oz for 5.99 at tjmaxx..Its not that spectacular to me I do smell vanilla but this is like a kiddie perfume.. Bottle looks cheap I'll keep it because it was cheap and I'd waste more energy returning it .. 3/10 for smell idk about lasting power cause I sprayed about an hour ago and I'm reviewing now but if I have a change of anything I'll update.

RubyZeraphina

This is my signature scent. I love it. I especially love the bottle! I wish the bottle was the same colour as the perfume! And the box, I love that too. I love black, and purple.

And the perfume itself is gorgeous! Beautiful. Very sweet and gentle, but very long lasting on my skin. I love the mixture of apple, peony, orchid and jasmine, with the smooth, delicious and creamy vanilla, musk and amber. It's not too sweet - just perfect.

It lasts easily 12 hours, and the sillage is just right for me - just a couple of feet around me, so I'm enveloped in this gorgeous purple, sweet, flowery smell. Superb.

My husband loves it too, and even sprays it on himself occasionally!

maz7

This is divine! I love everything: the colour, the bottle, the box - and the perfume itself is magic! It's completely beautiful for me. Such a gorgeous, gentle sweet and comforting perfume. Lasts very well, and carries a good few feet. It's very feminine, and not at all too sweet; it has a good balance of the flowers and apple, with the very lovely vanilla and musk. Definitely one of my very favourites.

Black Secret

Good on you Katy love!! Keep them guessing!!!!! GORGEOUS!!!!

Angel Cat

Oh I am so happy!!! I love this!! It's gorgeous - beautiful - I'm MAD about it!!! Really. I was not expecting to at all, because of it having so many bad reviews here, but....FANTASTIC!!! I think it's fantastic. And I am so lucky too, in that I get a beautiful combination of all the notes! It's not just vanilla/musk for me at all! It's a gorgeous fruity, flowery sweet mixture of a potion. I love Katy's perfumes; every one I have blind-bought, and loved! I have Meow, Purr and Killer Queen Royal Revolution, and now Mad Potion, and I am definitely going to get all of hers if I can, when I can! She's terrific (with her perfumes). And, it lasts really well on me too. All day, and I can still just smell it when I'm in bed! Amazing. Considering I was expecting the worst! And the sillage is very pleasantly gentle. The people around me can smell it a little. It's really lovely. Thank you Katy.

And.....the BOTTLE!!! Wow! It is superb!! It's my favourite bottle and colour of all my perfumes, and anything else I've seen. I love the colour! I love the design of the bottle, and the box. A true love of mine.

p.s. I forgot so say; I only bought Katy Perry's Mad Potion (I love saying the whole name!) FOR THE BOTTLE!!! I didn't care at all whether I liked the perfume or not, I just wanted the bottle, to look at!! It's so gorgeous! So, I am very very happy that I love them both!! Sadly though the colour of the perfume will disappear, because I'll be using it a lot! I'll have to buy ANOTHER ONE - FOR THE BOTTLE (full, with the purple liquid in it!)!!!! LOL!!!

bribri121994

I only get vanilla, marshmallow and sugar from this perfume. Not necessarily a bad thing, and I feel it's right for the target market. The bottle is quite interesting, and the purple coloured fluid was what interested me in the first place. I much prefer Pink Sugar or Prada Candy if I want to do a sweet, gourmand perfume. I can fully understand why people love it, but it just isn't my cup of tea.

raw umber

Mad Potion is about equal parts sharp white musk and vanillin (artificial vanilla). It's slightly powdery and very reminiscent of plastic hairspray and marshmallows. That said, I kind of like that sort of thing, so this is not really a miss for me. It's more of a skin scent than VS Vanilla Lace, and Body Fantasies Vanilla, which both have incredible projection and similar vanillin/white musk scent profiles.

Mad Potion's skin scent properties make it ideal for hot humid summer conditions because it actually lasts up to 12 hours on me and does not overwhelm me or anyone in my vicinity. If you want to smell like a plastic vanilla doll, this one is definitely worth checking out, but only if you can find it heavily discounted. I found a 30 ml. for the price of a sample.

ETA: I'm surprised that so many people seem to favor Meow over this. I feel that Katy Perry's quality is uniform throughout her entire range. In my experience, there is a very strong plastic hairspray element in every one of her scents. Whether or not that's problematic is up to the individual.

*_Lilly_*

Tried this one on today... Vanilla, vanilla and vanilla !
It is almost like a body spray, I agree...
I do like it though and kept smelling my arm. I have Simply Pink (A. Pink sugar version) and I prefer that bc it has a noticeable licorice note. This I will/would buy if I found it discounted :) Yep - yep!
DID FIND IT CHEAP SO I BOUGHT IT. It is nothing really special, good safe boring vanilla scent :)

Littlewing8_9

Don't judge me I'm 27 and I LOOOVE this....okay, it's not like it's a sophisticated "light blue" or "angel", even.....but it's just the straight up smell of guess....

BLACKBERRIES!!!!!!

Blackberries ripening in the summer heat, heady, heavy, warm and sweet sweet sweeet.....the dark, melting juicy sweet of warm summer nectar trickling down your throat...yes, if you've never picked over-ripe blackberries and eaten them immediatley, then you kind of won't know the smell...until you smell this!

It's kind of like creamy blackberry milkshake or something.

ecofreak2001

Got this at a discount price; the only reason I bought it since I like the other Perry's frags. This one is sooooo sheer is just like a body spray; a very sheer vanilla frag that you can use around your house or to run errands. It's perfect for layering with spicy oils though.

kittypug582

I absolutely love this scent. I love the scent of vanilla, but had never been able to find a vanilla-dominant fragrance that I felt worked for me. Then I found this one. It isn't a complicated perfume at all, but I actually love that simplicity. This one is a keeper for me.

jreyes366

To be honest, I was expecting something really nice from this cute little bottle. When I sprayed it on my wrist, I was so let down. There was so little scent coming from this it was ridiculous. I can only speak from my experience with this perfume and I have to say it wasn't good. I feel that cheap body sprays have better sillage and staying power. I really like Katy and her other fragrances this one disappointed me for sure.

Kohla1

I love vanilla. But even I got rid of this. Nothing special at all and lasted 2 minutes.

loisperfume

Ok mad potion! When i first seen it.. I thought it has a powerful sillage and longevity. Coz of the name Mad potion sounds like a powerful mad girl with a extra ordinary power of magic. That can make a potion that can hypnotized many guys. But NO! Lol. When i first saw it. I love the box and the bottle i think ots kinda girly and the design are pretty good. Its like a real bottle of potion in chemistry lab. The color violet liquid reminds me of her killer queen lines and purr/meow. But. When i sprayed it. I feel disappointed. I feel like im wearing a child's cologne.. I smell the vanilla with the hint of apple then little musky and powdery. It reminds me also of my neice eating a lot of candys then when her sticky mouth is dry. Its smells like tht. Its smells old vanilla mixing with water that stock in the shelves for a decades. Lol.. The sillage and longevity on my skin is weak. I bougt it for 30$ here in my country for 100 ml. I just want u to know guys that perfume here in the philippines are so expensive comparing to other country like usa.. So my rate for this perfume from (1-10)
Box&bottle- 7
Scents- 5
Longevity- 3
Sillage- 3

MoonFlare

There was really no need for Mad Potion when there's Meow. It's almost like Mad Potion was the failed experiment of Meow, but Katy decided to release it anyway. Then again, maybe I'm saying this because Meow is her best vanilla bombed perfume (in my opinion).
And I love Meow.

I get a huge amount alcohol and vanilla, and I feel where all the alcohol is, thats where all the other notes should have been. However, I can't detect them with so much alcohol.

Mad Potion quickly became a skin scent and lasted about 3 hours on me. I think Meow is a much better option.

UPDATE: I can't get away from wearing this scent on humid nights. I can faintly smell the floral notes and the sugar-cubed, musky, vanilla goodness. The projection is low, but what makes MP intimate is that someone must be in very close proximity to get a whiff..thats what makes it sexy. I carry the 30ml bottle in my purse to reapply. Once again, this tells you about its lasting power.

Meow by day, Mad Potion by night. Purr is more floral than both of these, and can also be worn in the night time, but definitely not sexy like Mad Potion.

Summer.ladon.smith

It smells a lot like Pink Sugar &/or Candies original. But at a higher price point. The sent is a super syrupy sweet cloying cotton candy. Really it just makes me think of some gross sticky fingered kid... yuck. I think this perfume could only work on a pre-teen. Staying power is decent, packaging I think is a bit tacky. Not Mad, just bad.

rushrocker

I sprayed this at Kohl's the other day on a tester strip. I liked it enough that I took the strip home and was greeted with a sexy, generic, vanilla scent reminiscent of something you'd find in the late 90's early 2000's. It lasted on the tester strip for a whole week so I was surprised to see the longevity rating here. Anyways I really like this perfume!

7/10

mschnabel666

Even tho I'm a 36 year old punk, I love Katy's perfumes!

Meow is my favorite.

This is utter crap, honestly. It's nice... uber sweet scents, foodie/gourmand, spicy vanillas... those are my things and while this is nice.... it lasts for crap and I'm totally disappointed.

I don't mind a sweet generic scent, but this is just a waste. :(

LexiOD

When Mad Potion first came out, I was obsessing over Victoria's Secret's Vanilla Lace and decided I had to have some sort of vanilla bomb perfume for my collection. My younger cousin heard I was looking into getting this perfume, so she bought it as a going away gift for me before I moved across country.
First off, this bottle is so cute. I know a lot of people think it resembles a cheap toy, but I think that's the fun of it. It doesn't look adult in any way, shape, or form, and it's silly and fun and unique. It definitely looks like some sort of crazy potion the Mad Hatter would have cooked up.
I go back and forth between smelling the lovely floral, fruity notes mixed with the vanilla and just straight up smelling what I can only describe as "stinky" vanilla, as in yes, it's vanilla, but it smells rancid, in a way. This is strange, to me, because my perception of this fragrance seems to go back and forth every time I smell it. It's extremely odd and kinda adds to the fun and cooky aspect of this fragrance.
The same goes for when I wear it. Some days, I think it's lovely, other days, I feel like I sprayed myself with some sort of sticky, cheap kid's perfume. I can't honestly tell how to feel about it since it's not consistent with my nose. I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue.
The lasting power isn't great, but it's not really made to be, I suppose.
Overall, if you do opt for this fragrance, don't spend too much money as I feel you'll have to keep this with you to reapply throughout the day. This is definitely a strange one, but it's not the worst scent I've ever encountered by far. I suppose tread with caution, as your nose could go either way. 6/10 for both fun and inconsistency.

xx

Miffy8900

It reminds me of a uncomplicated and less classy version of Van Cleef & Arpel's Orchidee Vanille which I LOVE and really want (but it is sooo expensive) This is a great alternative, and a sweet chocolatey (the orchid I guess) and vanilla scent. A feminine and lovely warm and sweet scent. Don't get any apple but that is fine - I love a good ol' vanilla scent :) I don't understand why it get so much hate :(

On me it lasts great - but it is not so powerfull, and I think that's why many voters think it is weak and doesn't last. Personally I like that it isn't a in your face powerfull fragrance - in that case it would be very suffocating because of the heavy vanilla.

I am not really a fan of the bottle. I think it is kitch, but not pretty or cute. Just plain weird (sorry!)

All in all: a great vanilla fragrance :)

tea-with-rissa

NEVER ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SCENTS. Yes, it is a little generic, and yes, the packaging is ugly BUT its light and airy vanilla scent is to die for. Just the smell is enough to warm you up on a chilly autumn afternoon.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

greenelf

I bought a roller ball of this scent, curious about the name and it was marked down to half price at Walgreens--but I cannot smell this scent on my skin AT ALL! I have a pretty good nose, too, so this is just plain weird. A lot of other reviews mention vanilla and burnt praline, but, honestly--I get NOTHING! Very odd.

La vie de boheme

Big disappointment for me,and I'm not that hard to please with fragrances.
I cannot get anything but synthetic vanilla from this,no other notes at all,it's weak and pretty boring tbh.

I have all of Katy's other scents and like them all, there's nothing in her range as uninteresting as this one.
I just don't know what happened here,it doesn't suit her style, there's nothing "mad" about it,the bottle isn't great irl,why bother?

I would suggest that it's better for autumn,as I would think that the vanilla would be too cloying for spring/summer.

pipergirl

Tacky bottle with a nice but very basic synthetic-vanilla-candy-floss scent inside. I like it because I like sweet scents and there is certainly nothing off putting about Mad Potion....but Meow is so much better a vanilla than this. And candy floss has been done so much better in other fragrances.

I guess I don't see the point of this one. Oh, and it doesn't last.

dipisor

Sweet vanilla scent. I feel some citrus in it, too, though. Unfortunately, doesn't last at all on my skin. Very similar to Aquolina Pink Sugar in my opinion, which has great longevity.

Lucky7z

I love this!!!

This was a blind buy for me and OMG its simply vanilla heaven for me!!!!

This smells like a vanilla cupcake to me with hints of a touch of floral.

Sillage & longevity are both moderate for me.

Definitely will be a repeat buy for me!!<3

Nil3

( it's not fair how a bottle can influence you psychologically on how to judge a scent)

Many reviews here, most of them actually , made me NOT look forward to this blind buy.
One mentioned that this is a 'masterpiece '. A little over board, I suppose.

A vanilla creme brûlée is the first hit.
I say brûlée cuz there IS a burned sugar element to it . Or maybe it's the deep bourbon vanilla.
To my luck , I get the so called apple musk which immediately evens the sweetness out.
Wish the musk stages would last longer. Is 8$ worth the 30ml? No.
All in all 2-3 hours on my skin.

Thousands of body mists last longer and have better quality. I could easily bathe in it. So personally I think it's ridiculous that a 50 and 30ml exist of this bottle. The smallest should be a 100ml.

Sharing it with my 4 year old daughter.

Edit: sprayed before bed at 10 pm, and got whiffs of it at 4 am. A pleasant vanilla scent.

Lexy656612

When I was a little girl I got given my first perfume. It was called sugarplum fairy and I was in love with the smell. 20 years later I smell mad potion and a flurry of wonderful emotions came flooding back with one sniff! I had to buy it purely for the trip down memory lane !! It's Deffo aimed at a younger crowd it's very sweet and cute and lovely. It's a happy smell for me.

Simkitty181

Sweet, Creamy, Warm and Floaty.
~The Epitome of Vanilla

This is absolutely D E L I C I O U S smelling.
Vanilla sugar bomb

Longevity is 3-4 Hours
Silage is Moderate

unsrsly

This is awful. I couldn't smell it after 4 minutes of spraying it. What I did smell was pure alcohol with a tiny bit of vanilla scent. This is ridiculously bad, wow.

piggyluv

What's to say? It's vanilla, with poor silage and longevity. Probably could be used to layer; but in all honesty there are many superior inexpensive vanilla scents on the market. Someone phoned this one in.

ivitab

It smells like pure alcohol...

Suzybee

This is straight up Vanilla with hints of floral. Sillage and longevity are both minimal. I might list this one on ebay since I prefer Meow's vanilla to this one. Still a nice scent though.

a_u_r_a

I agree with those who are saying it is a generic vanilla perfume. Powdery vanilla is all I can pick up from it. I do not think it is appropriately named, nor does it seem like a Katy Perry perfume (which I would expect to be out of the ordinary and more fun).

I would expect fruit and dark notes from a Mad Potion, not pure, innocent vanilla.

I also read in a magazine that Katy Perry wears this to feel sexy. While I agree that men tend to love the smell of vanilla, it doesn't make me feel sexy and confident like a more opulent, darker, smokier perfume would.

I think this perfume would be very suitable for all ages, from a woman looking for a nonoffensive work perfume and for young girls, even girls in elementary school. I haven't met anyone who doesn't like a soft vanilla smell.

I do not regret my purchase - I got the tiny bottle of perfume in a set for $10 along with body wash and lotion at Walgreens.

matillyrose

I finally got hold of a bottle of Mad Potion today. The prices have been insane in Australia and I absolutely refuse to pay top dollar for a celebrity perfume. Finally they are more realistically priced.

For me this is Sugar Cubes that have had Vanilla extract slowly dripped over the cubes until they dissolve and then Sherbet Fizz stirred through.

Mad Potion is a simple fragrance but it is different to any other Vanilla based fragrance I have experienced.

Longevity on the skin (and it was a hot day today) was 4 hours before it lost its potency. I think I could make it last longer sprayed on my clothes.

I really enjoy this fragrance, love the bottle and the sparkly lid. Purple is my favourite colour, everything just oozes gorgeous.

Loved it so much went straight out and purchased another bottle.

ksugrl79

I LOVED THIS! I'm so in love with this fragrance of hers, its my favorite of all of hers! It may be because my chemistry pulls vanilla real well. It's a mix of boozy, and faintly exotic floral vanilla. The village lasts about 5-6 hours on me. Projection is moderate...not like I want my scent to arrive 10-15 feet before me. It's aan inviting scent, meant to invite others.

nightcutter

This is a very sweet smell. I can pick out a candy floss aroma and a hint of vanilla. It is also very dilute - no one will smell this on you. I don't see the point to it. Meow does the same thing but better. Thumbs down from me.

JetsBabe

It's just ok. Katy Perry's worst. Or a "worst" tie with "Killer Queen"

Smells like cotton candy to me. A little similar to "Pink Sugar" BUT no burnt sugar smell.

Very average. Do not hate it, but don't love it either.

Alison Wonderland

I just don't know...

Unlike Taylor Swift's perfume line (of which I only dislike Wonderstruck and can't comment on Incredible Things which I have not tried yet) the rest of the line I own and love, with Wonderstuck Enchanted remaining my signature despite some strong designer contenders.

However, Katy Perry's line is so hit and miss with me. I have actually grown to love Royal Revolution, and use it far more than I thought I would when getting the gift set 50% off at only £10 for the EDP, shower gel and lotion. However, Purr was so generic/synthetic to me, and Killer Queen (despite loving the name and bottle) was overly cloying and just smelled bad to me. I haven't tried meow yet, or this one as so many reviews describe it as a liner vanilla (and I just picked up Warm Vanilla Sugar as well as Vanilla Bean Noel at BBW's sale at 75% off (basically paying only $3.75 each for two body sprays and a body butter) and while I love the bottle design (come on, have you seen my username and profile? ;)) I am pretty much obsessed with anything Alice in Wonderland related, but it would really annoy me to get the gift set of this and have a scent that is the same sillage/longetivity as my $3.75 Bath and Body Works mist? Jury is still out on if I should get a gift set of this, or another of Royal Revolution, which I already know I really like. I will update if I come across a tester though, or can get this discounted enough....I really do love the bottle.

If any of you lovely Fragnanticans can help me solve this dilemma, and think I should try this or stay by my trusted Royal Revolution, please do send me a PM! I would be most grateful :)

In Vogue

A masterpiece! This perfume is to Katy Perry what "Passion" was to Liz Taylor. Maybe it's not a coincidence both bottles are purple? Don't get me wrong, this isn't Passion. This is a very unique, complex fragrance. It reminds me of the love-child of Hypnotic Poison and Pink Sugar, but with more jasmine and musk, yet it's still like nothing I've ever smelled! I do notice a slightly "burnt sugar" smell in the dry-down.
By the way, the sillage is huge. I just used the body lotion from my gift-set, and didn't even need the fragrance with it and it lasted all day. If I use the fragrance as well, it will definitely be a night-time, going out scent.
I read the Katy Perry says this is her chosen going out at night fragrance. I chalked that up to publicity, until I smelled this, and now I absolutely believe her. This smells expensive, classy, complex and remarkable.
The bottle is super-cute and fun, love the '60's retro throwback kitsch.

mystica

I believe that's an ideal perfume gift for a little girl. I have a niece who is obsessed with Monster High dolls, their styles of which actually pretty much fit with the bottle design. And the soft, one dimensional vanilla scent is I believe ideal both for her and to scent the dolls. I just worry about initiating her into the perfume cult, just in case she never recovers like me...

kristamb

I have to say, I loved VS Vanilla Lace back in the 90s, as did all the girls at my school (!!) and this seems like Katy Perry's version of this perfume. I really feel like this perfume is very 1-dimensional...I really don't get any floral notes--just bourbon vanilla and cream. It's a nice scent, but nothing memorable or original! I don't feel like the bottle, name, or description really fit the fragrance itself.

Update: As simple as this perfume is, the more I have used it, the more I realize that it actually is "still there" at the end of the day, I can smell this on my clothes, even though it's light. I don't mind this one at all. It's still not a memorable or sophisticated scent to me, but it is a keeper for average days!! It is also worth the price tag...very affordable!

ppetra-

I got to test it out from a fresh new bottle, I believe the first one was off, which I tested earlier. It's kind of good in some way. It's a boozy, powdery, silly vanilla. It's for you who don't care for reapplications(since it's not needed with this frag!), or about big brand names on your bottles, but want something nice and sweet. And the longevity is great! 8+ hours and it's still going strong. Sillage, I don't know about that, but longevity, gosh, why can't all scents stay on this good? :)

I really should have paid attention to the negagtive reviews. I thought everybody was trippin. I was like it cant be that bad! Well, Mad Potion isnt bad but its so plain. It just smells like plain old weak vanilla. Its a very weak version of Vanilla Lace by Victorias secret. I Like vanillla Lace and i will just buy that. Mad potion is 20 bucks for 1 ounce. Too much money to spend on such a bland generic perfume. I will pay a lot for a good smelling perfume though

I was given this, along with a few others that were in the after-Christmas clearance section. I had no clue what the notes would be in this, so I was really curious what it would smell like.

Actually, it's not that bad! I won't go so far as to say I love it, but it's alright. I mainly get a slightly boozy vanilla with some amber and musk. I also pick up some of the orchid, but just slightly. I don't detect jasmine at all in this. I've seen where people compare this to Pink Sugar. I wore Pink Sugar for years, and to me this smells NOTHING like it at all. PS was very cotton candy-ish / vanilla and musk to me. This is different to my nose.

This isn't a scent that you would call sophisticated by any means. It's pretty straight-forward without a whole lot of complexity to it. Still, it's a nice scent that sits fairly close to the skin and smells youthful without feeling like you're drowning in a sea of sugar. There's something about it though that kept me sniffing my wrist!

celebrity89

There are already 20 inexpensive versions of Pink Sugar out there with nice bottles that don't drudge up Beverly Hills 90210.

Update: OK, I found the X-mas set on sale and I must say the quality of the fragrance is fantastic.

Smelled this in Walmart and I dismissed this thinking that it was a cheap version of "Aquolina's Pink Sugar"... But then as I kept sniffing I realized that it didn't have that "burnt" scent that PS has, so if you like cotton candy scents, then you'll like this one..

Alovethatwasmorethanlove

I don't know what it is about this perfume, I know the cotton candy scent has been done time and time again since the beginning of perfume but this one is magical to me. Is it because I'm madly in love with Katy Perry and everything she does is magic to me? Probably... But beyond that I do love this scent.

Its young, sweet and playful. In ways it's a classic, done time and time again but still loved by many. It's sweet buts it's not a nauseating overwhelming marshmallow sweet. And although it's a 'celebrity' fragrance, it's wonderful.

I have to say, I agreed with the majority of reviewers who say this is just a plain generic vanilla, AT FIRST. When I originally sampled this, upon first spray, I thought of Pink Sugar. Or BBW Warm Vanilla sugar. But as it dried down, I noticed a warm, creamy vanilla scent. I decided I must have it because the dry down is so yummy. It's a vanilla fragrance for sure, but not as sharp or in your face as Pink sugar. And it does have decent lasting power on me. Not great, but good. I can usually still smell it on my wrist through midday. Kohl's has a gift set of it and combined with their coupons, you can get a great deal. So, if you like vanilla based scents, give this one a try.

astamm62

Not a bad scent, but all I smell is vanilla.

aspirina

I tried this scent some days ago. I didn't like the super sharp musk. Fake sugared vanilla and bad musk, this is almost like sweet musky hairspray...harsh..very harsh and artificial. But short lived! in just 5-10 minutes it had dissappeared from my skin. Not something I would buy.

FloralMoonlight

I got this about a month ago and I agree with other reviewers. It's a decent scent, but very unoriginal. I love the design concept, though. I think the Alice in Wonderland inspired potion bottle is cute, but more thought went into the design than the scent. I'm hoping Mad Love will be better. Speaking of which, WHEN WILL MAD LOVE BE RELEASED?! The description says Fall 2015, which is now. Fall ends in about 2 weeks, I'm getting very impatient. Or did they mean Fall 2015 in a country other than the US? I wish I had more information. Of course, I would much rather she release something else in the Killer Queen or cat collection.

KaelanLovesPerfume

A very common scent.. nothing new or special. Not bad, but i have at least half a dozen vanilla body sprays that smell exactly like it. A very light vanilla/musk type scent that is of no higher caliber than Body Fantasies. Lasts maybe 30 minutes on my skin. I wouldn't mind having this in my collection, because it is nice, but wouldn't even consider paying full price for it. I'll just wait until it's 15 bucks on Amazon..lol.

jessica.rios

I love it sexy!! mysterious and sweet!! perfect!!
and the best I just got the big bottle (1 onz) in walgreens for 19.99 planning to getting and other one before special en dec 5 !! good deal !! what are you waiting for !!!! nothing wrong with this one voodoo in a little bottle :) im enchanted!!

ScarlettX

I don't like it. It's very strongly alcohol smelling. Like a sweet tropical liquer. Reminds me of coqtails that are too sweet to drink. Nothing great or special about it.

ntabassum92

The bottle is very cute, but I don't think the scent matches it at all. The bottle is very Alice in Wonderland, and this smells just like any other vanilla scent. I like it! It smells nice. But it's not as original as you would think it would be. As for all the note transitions listed in the description...it's pretty much just vanilla through and through. A little spicy perhaps (tiny bit) but really just plain vanilla. Very linear. Lasts well if you like this sort of thing - but vanilla body sprays probably do, too...

nvenus

I understand the design of the bottle ("madness") but I don't like it. The concept is almost untenable.

Sprayed it on a bit of Pasteboard (the ones for perfume tests) and couldn't scent anything because it was too weak. I'll give it another try another day.

These beautiful notes don't create madness but using them to make a perfume that's barely noticeable... That's madness. Wait; I think I might have cracked the code...!

She should do a "Love Potion" and make it sweet and irresistible. She needs Britney's (or the one behind the Fantasy perfumes) help.

PlushFerret

I tested this today in the pharmacy to see if it was anything like her other scents. Wow. Nope.

I'll be honest, I barely smelt a thing. Just very light sweet generic vanilla. I had my nose to the paper inhaling it like an addict but the smell was almost undetectable.

I admit I much prefer up-in-your-face perfumes like Angel, so maybe that's why I wasn't into this one.

I'd recommend it for a young girl as it's a sweet, non-offensive, good 'first' perfume, or something for your teen daughter to wear to school.

raiza1990

Now, let´s be honest: this is nothing groundbreaking, but we were not expecting something original from Katy Perry, right?
That said, it is really nice. i mostly get Vanilla and green apple, but the apple does really make a difference. the apple gives this perfume personality. it is so crispy and delicious! it saves it from smelling boring. It is definitely a teen´s perfume, but i don´t mind it. it is comforting and uplifting at the same time and make me remember some good times in high school. i would wear it on cold days. i don´t have complaints about Sillage and longevity, it´s ok. i think i wouldn't buy it, because i have already many cheap celeb perfumes, but i wouldn't mind getting it as a gift, that said, it is not good to blind buy it. smell it first!

mystica

Today I was out for perfume shopping & testing. There was a good bargain on some perfumes, so I allocated upto 35 Euros for a bottle.

Along others I also tested Mad Potion. "Nothing really interesting" I thought and left the store with a purchase which was already on my safe wish list.

When I got into the car, I really couldn't believe that the most pleasant perfume amongst the ones I tried was pretty much THIS. Not some designers but a celeb perfume...

Mad Potion won me over with its totally sweet, innocent, soft, girly bourbon vanilla accord which reminded me of Yves Rocher's Vanille de Bourbon. This is even softer and slightly more fruity.

This is not a typical celeb which faithfully revolves around the combo of "red berries + candies + smoke". But a soft girly Vanilla with a slight touch of apple.

I'm getting it!

Flowercat

The things that other reviewers don't like about Mad Potion are essentially what I love about it--it is an unapologetically, straightforward sweet vanilla concoction that is soft, girly, and lighthearted. Perfect! Its silage seems better to me than what I've read about here. Tried it in Kohl's and as I shopped the fragrance strengthened and actually got more interesting as time passed. I went back to grab the last bottle left ( thankfully with my discount coupons in hand!) Hours later I am still inhaling my wrists with delight.

Young smelling? Yes. (Ageless in my opinion
