Deep, dark, complex, and stays on skin forever. I've toyed around with Amouage samples here and there but nothing made me covet a whole bottle like Memoir did.

A witch's potion for power and transcendence. This opens straight up of spice and incense with an animalic grip. I go very light-handed with this perfume because I live in a hot and humid country where this could choke people out. About two hours in, the florals begin blooming - the sliver of sweetness drawing you into the smoky, enveloping haze. It evolves throughout the day but remains hypnotic and intoxicating at every stage of development. Absolutely gorgeous!

OooOoOoo...

This fragrance makes my inner goddess of the night want to come out and play.

This is probably the BEST incense fragrance I've ever smelt. Spicy & warm. The cloves comes out strong on my skin. I absolutely LOVE cloves too so this works very well for me.

I don't know if the bottles in the newer packaging smell the same. Does anyone know if they changed the formula on these?

Mc1995

Nowhere near Dior Poison, I can see why some would get that dark purple plummy vibe, but this is more chypre like. Think YSL Kouros mixed with Estée Lauder Knowing, throw some dark fruits, florals and incense in there. Well made, polarizing, like all Amouage fragrances(except some of their newer releases)not sure where people can wear these fragrances. Most would only work in cold weather. And alone?

Andreea2906

ohh sweet darkness 😌 I have to agree with the people that said this perfume is perfection.

exmin

wow just fucking wow this is a masterpiece and genius! actually reminds me of antaeus

Nbebis

It may just be the name of the perfume, the notes, or the classic Amouage bottle in black, but I associated this with death, and mourning upon first expressing interest in a decant, but its actually the opposite! This is so bright, and very extravagant! If this was to be associated with death, it would be more of a celebration, than a mourning remembrance. As I mentioned before it is bright and very uplifting, but not a clear light, a light shining through sheer black curtains, a light that is balanced with the dark. And it is very extravagant! I see black and gold merging when I smell this. It is very woodsy and spicy. Also a little smoky, and quite sweet. This would be the perfect fragrance for a femme fatale, or a regular Don Juan. Someone who is dangerously charismatic, and very romantic!

If you're looking to purchase decants from the UK, I have old batch of Memoir for woman available for sale on my eBay store.

Dianaoud

Like many reviewers before me, I say this is perfection! Cloves, incense and cardamom in their finest essence. Mystic, dark and unique. Give it a try, and see how it’s evolves on your skin⚜️

Memoir Woman Amouage
(USD 85, 90 ml. left, magnetic cap w/o fragrance name)

2nd Impression

When I wear the first time, everything was good.
This is instant hook for me, I don’t expect to like this as much.
After I receive my bottle it was a bit hot..
so I let it cool down a bit, it is not so stable..
I am not really sure which way it will develop.
I am still remember the fragrance development the first time I wear.
But I need certain time for it to crystallize.
A few day skin test I am ready to put my impression on 2nd wear.

When I sniff from either spray head or in a mini glass cup.
The condense scent reminds me much of herbal Licorice scent.

The opening, I instantly recall another fragrance that use similar profile. It is “Vanilla Diorama” in the way of spicy sweet cardamom covers something very creamy under. The green note something here I think it is Warmwood (Absinthe) touch here is beautiful and have depth. It leans more herbal a bit more. I haven’t really tried Absinthe so I can’t really say is it authentic but I was sniff “Histories des Parfum, 1969 Moulin Rogue” which have absinthe tint less than Memoir. I think in this is more beautiful. I think it is not “True Green” like Casis, Galbanum or leafy. It is not a fragrance wheel green but it is really have green undertone (if this make s sense?)

Fragrance top lingers not so long before transit is emerge I mostly perceive creamy white floral and amount of Tuberose. I think this very cleaver idea to merge that wormwood with Tuberose, It kinda provide the aspect of Tuberose stonger, it is the most strongest floral I recrive here but it is beautifully blend with other. NOW, I know this might be a bit cheating because I have chance to sniff “Amouage Honour 43” the day after I receive this otherwise I would say it was vanilla but actually it was the creaminess floral bouquet very similar to the one in Honour just slightly more spicy, smoky.

Fragrance heart really linger for a long time before the ambery accord starts to form. It is very beautifully coexisted with Floral bouquet develop in heart it is happens in the same time and develop beautifully together…. The amber material here. Remind me much of Leathery Labdanum but it is not sour/balsumic. it is kinda.. how can I say..? dark labdanum? I don't have any perfume that strong as this one.

The Heart and Base stay cohesively.. by the time pass by the base stronger.
Somehow.. it smells smoky.. but It is so addictive.

This might be too specific reference.. but scent reminds me much of personality "Yuko" from Holic XXX. She is a witch and witchy item shop owner.

quite quirky at first, and she like alcohol as scent develop.
It shows more beautiful side of her. she have her own strong devotion process to handle anything, She always trust in "Equal payment, nothing more - nothing less"
represent by White Flora. The base, feels like how she handle much thing with Spiritual realm. it deep and endless but she manages to handle anything gracefully.

I don't smell anything, sharp or disturbing in this perfume. Apart of frame of this fragrance hard to enjoy for some taste but for person who enjoy smoky-floral-amber.. I think you still fairly enjoy this one.

I can say I love it but it is a bit hard to use.
I score here 9/10 consider all aspect of perfume.

score 9/10
Projection : Moderate-strong
Longevity : 9 hours+
Classification : Unisex leans Femme (floral quality)
Summary : The good witchy scent (specific Yuko from Holic XXX)

Pre blind-buy record

I decided to blind buy Amouage. I know, I might make a mistake. I always aware that Amouage should not be blind buy. However, as you know, Amouage needs on-skin. Experience a few times to be truly understand. I successfully brought 2 late Amouage fragrances. (Jubilation XXV Man and Overture Woman) I think it is easy to use and easy to understand. One thing I actualize is Amouage amber is so beautiful (might be because of the material over all) It seems that Memoir woman can go many way. And a lot of people experience difference thing in Memoir woman. It can be Sweet amber, spicy rich incense with absinthe tint, but also floaty white floral accord. Some perceive Tuberose, Some get rose, some get nothing, it can be too green and herbaceous, Too animalic, too deep, too dark. Or just perfect People rate this Everything from Love to Hate. I have receive same experience with Epic woman once. Until now I can’t really describe the scent actually. What dawn me in the most, could be probably the Absinthe accord after I use it in Overture Woman, I am truly enjoy. But I might be wrong because Absinthe accord might solely from Wormwood. It might leans herbaceous than alcoholic side of thing. Yeah, I will wait my bottle to arrive and surely provide update later on, this speaks to me.

"Memoir Woman" by Amouage has been my go-to for a while now, and it never fails to amaze. Starts off spicy with a hint of citrus, then moves into a mysterious floral heart, and settles into a rich, leathery musk. Every time I wear it, I feel like I'm wrapped in sophistication and mystery. It's been with me through so many memories, truly a fragrance that stands out.

buonobi

Best Amouage.
A Perfection.

smccmurphy

Oof this is not for me…smells very antique like opening up an old chest and getting a strong waft of perfumed wool and wood. Made my nose tickle.

Edit: I woke up in the middle of the night and thought my cat or dog had peed somewhere (never happened before)- then I smelled my wrists and the dry down was what smelled like urine! Unbelievable!

catcat42

It is literally impossible for me to replace this with anything in winter..Just unrivaled. It's crazy good and nothing like it. I wish there was though. I would be very open to try anything close to this. Even their own house couldn't make a match for this perfection. And no it is not gothic! Its just bliss with enourmous staying power and still quiet. Its power on a liquid form. Please suggest something different to try from this page section for people who enjoy this! I'd love to hear likes of people who adore this

prancingponytail

You're thinking of getting or even trying this because reviews made you think it's gothic? Think again. Twice. And then think some more because this is NOWHERE near gothic. Yes it's dark and unique and beautiful but it feels like you're a guest of a nice and curious sheikh and he's asking you questions about that grimoire, Shams al-Ma'arif. This is not west but straight middle east, right to the core.

Edit: After wearing this for a couple of more times, I've decided that I'd prefer to be suffocated by halon instead of smelling this. It's heavy, thick, and it gives nuclear disaster vibes after a couple of hours, and frankly, I think it's not fair that this lasts a DECADE on me but some of my favourite fragrances do not.

autoperk

This is crazy good. At first I found it herbal, like a fougere. Then came a pronounced oriental hook. Memoir Woman has undertones of Dior Poison`s juicy dark cherries, which are further enhanced by a licorice twist. Please, do not avoid this masterpiece solely because you think black licorice tastes like hate. It`s subtle and works well here. Underlaying all the fruit and holiday spice is something, thick and waxy. It reminds me of the fragrance of solidified, coconut oil. It exudes smoothness and remains throughout the life of the fragrance. Honorable mention to the leather and castoreum which keeps things unisex and darkly sexy overall.
Perfect for the winter holidays. Apply liberally to crisp white shirts, black velvet and tuxedos.

kallico

This perfume is perfection. It's the forest, it's the floral garden, it's the temple incense, it's the toasty spices in the kitchen, it's the boudoir, it's everything at once. BEAUTIFUL! I search in vain for a dupe, but nothing can compare to this masterpiece.

Maya lilac

Memoir Woman is memorable for sure! On me it’s close to being linear scent, doesn’t change much but it is a warm spices heaven. This might be the most complex spicy, incense heavy fragrance I have ever tried. I can’t remember encountering cloves done so beautiful like in Memoir! And I adore cloves.

It feels like a very cozy mixture of wormwood, cloves, cardamom, pink and black pepper, some sweet jasmine and rose, ambery like with labdanum and styrax, very smooth, thick and deep. Resinous and balsamic to perfection. I love this juice.

I get a bit of stinky animalic feel from the castoreum, more likely, that bothers me for a while but it is so warm and delightful in the dry down. It remains an incensed cloves bomb for me!

Must have for winter season and Christmas celebrations! This and a cup of mulled wine in my hand would make my Christmas day perfect.

Memoir performs impeccably, it has richness, warmth and depth, it is impeccable blended and balanced. After Ouverture, which is not for me, Memoir is the second best performing scent from the entire sampler set. I am sold!

The only thing I am not crazy about is the black bottle, not a fan of black at all in general, a rich, medium dark warm brown or a deep burgundy would have suited better the juice inside.

Lilly44

This is cold, spicy, geen, incensy. There are some flowers listed in the notes but i can't detect them. It has a liquorice accord in it. Every time I smell it I can hear " the forrest whispers my name"... Unique and beautiful to me, but not everyones cup of tea😄

Revontuli

My third Amouage and fail. I'll take that, I might not be sophisticated enough to appreciate this house, but I just can't lie or pretend. Either my skin chemistry or my expectations, there is just something I can't figure out. (Edit: As far as I understood some Amouage scents have gone through reformulation and we only have a ghost of their former selves. Such a shame.))

I agree with the user who said that this is not Count Dracula's scent...And no, it's definitely not. Neither gothic.

It's a little spicy and darkish (not enough for my taste), yes, but with a pungent sweetness which destroys all the aspects I attributed to this scent. It also turns strangely masculine on me, reminding me of a barbershop (another user mentioned this as well).

I much prefer vintage Poison over this. Much darker, sexier and mysterious.

Well...I think Lyric and Rose Incense are the only ones I'll be sticking with from this house.

Ozzy1991

My signature Fragrance...

nisarsarah9

This is a warm and spicy scent and I wear it more during winters however, I don't know why it does not suit my body chemistry. It comes off as strong and turns into a manly scent for some reason however, this is one of those scents which smells luxury and has a dark incense due to which I don't want to give up on this scent. I am looking for a dupe or another blend of this scent which is offered by some other brand. Let me know if anyone is aware of this. Looking forward to your suggestions!!

DS9Dax

Warm complex woody incense . It may be labeled “woman” but this is definitely unisex. It’s is “darkly sensuous”
I did sample this first from one of those little dabber vials. It was a little smoother with the flowers more prominent. So I was surprised it is so cardamony.
I will probably layer it with rose or iris oil.

FatimaD

This fragrance grew on me. It was a blind buy I’m happy about. I love smelling it on me , but my brain interprets it as smell of sweet plums or prunes. I don’t know where and what gives this hint but I love it and enjoy

Smeraldina77

The starting was really pungent, not very pleasant to me, honestly. That pungency went away after 30 minutes circa and then the combination of the white flowers and the base notes were all I smelled. Overall this fragrance to me is quite sweet, resinous and smooth, but I do not like it very much. There is something that gives me a light nausea, may be the castoreum note? I have Initio's Absolute Aphrodisiac, which has a castoreum note as well, but I really love that one, so I don't know what exactly gives me nausea in Memoir, but this is it, unfortunately.
I can acknowledge the quality of the ingredients and the artistry of the composition (as in all Amouage's fragrances, I would say) but this one is not for me.
In my personal opinion, it also smells a little bit outdated and old fashion, but, as I said, this is just my opinion and may be the way it interact with my personal skin chemistry.

RiddlesKitty

Warm white floral with a touch of spiced plum. Lots of animalic castoreum. Don’t know where anyone else is getting wormwood or incense. I suspect a lot of fakes. My sample was directly from Amouage.

Shawn330

I was hoping for a lot more than this provided. This is definitely not count draculas perfume. It’s a light warm sweet spicey oriental perfume with lots of white floral in its heart. Long lasting but very linear. Has the classic amouage incense in it. Nothing mind blowing or hard to get a long with. I was hoping for a more complex natural smelling dark scent. This is not that

BewitchingJasmine

Absinth poured over a sugar cube quickly dries down to a bubble-gummy, grape, tuberose with a touch of spice and incense.

Was much sweeter than I expected but still has a nice depth from the spices

eacook160

I absolutely love this perfume, and it is the perfect fragrance for when the weather begins to cool, the air is damp and the days begin to darken. It’s for when witchy season begins. I mean, wormwood is a top note in this. It’s a beautifully dark perfume and should really only be worn at night. However, I will wear it during one of those chilly, dark autumnal days. This is a very strong, super elegant and rich smelling perfume. Think nights at the opera, fancy dinner parties, elegant black gowns, possibly a masquerade on Halloween. The only real problem that I have with this perfume is that I often feel like it is wearing me rather than the other way around. It’s loud and proud, that’s for sure.

Petula009

This is a mass in the church with burning incense. You can feel the smoke, but there is also a warmth to it. There is a hint of a moss and amber, and sometimes I catch a whiff of something floral. It's a journey and I like it. However, I feel like I would struggle to find and ocassion to wear this one.
Vibes: Wednesday Addams in the church scent
Form: 2ml

redberry11

Memoir Woman opens up with a doze of sweet spices which slowly transform into intensely fragrant white flowers...and just when my senses get tired of it all, a salty masculine oak moss takes the reign. A lot of different things are going on here. Unfortunately, this is not my style.

Lilipoot

Too much amber.smells great.
It reminds me of Prada amber .
I like it and after a while u smell amber more.
If u like amber notes, then help your self 😁

strangelight

Didn't expect to be so into this one. I can see where the comparison to Poison come from, but where that has been a scent I admired more than loved, Memoir Woman I feel comfortable wearing - less fruity floral, more spice and incense is more me I guess. It's definitely a sultry nighttime "vamp" scent though.
I can't see myself shelling out Amouage prices for this, but if I come across a used bottle on ebay or something I will likely be tempted.

ShinningLightOfThunder

Gorgeous and stunning perfume! It may take time to develop on the skin, but it turns into beautiful balsamic scent.

skybunny

Smelling this opened up a some sort of hazy memory portal that I can't quite put my finger on. The wormwood, leather, and mandarin are the most obvious notes to my nose. This smells so old school and so new at the same time. I think anyone who likes these notes could pull this off, truly unisex and would wear well on any age.

The mandarin really keeps this perfume from leaning towards gloomy. I love Amouage's Fate, which is a gothic cathedral scent that could really turn a sad day into a depressing one. This has some of those elements, but make it juicy :)

linzertart

I finally got my nose on this after waiting what seemed an eternity and I was so sure I would adore it based on notes and reviews. I sprayed it on card stock and my first thought was “what fresh hell is this?” It is so camphorous and sharp to me. I want it to read like an apothecary shop, but with stacks of leather bound books, that meets a spice rack and a bouquet of flowers. I’m a little envious of all the reviewers who are loving it. 😉 I’ll keep sniffing and eventually will try it on in case my skin chemistry makes a difference.

UPDATE: The following morning I smelled the card stock and it was STUNNING. it’s doing all the things I wanted it to do but it took about 15 hours to get there. I’m assuming it’s the wormwood that I reacted poorly to and I just don’t think I could endure it, even to get to this ultimate beauty. I’ve yet to put it on my skin, lol. Let’s see if I get brave enough.

Last edit: Tried it on and it’s not nearly as camphorous on me on first spray. And it dries down more quickly on skin than on card. And yet, it still takes too long to my nose to become palatable. Alas, it’s not for me but I hope everyone who loves it rocks it proudly.

c0rtland

Lovely wonderful perfect. I like this more every time i wear it. The incense is excellent. So so so good. Highly recommend. Memoir woman and Epic woman are true masterpieces from the house. Very unisex.

XeniaKoneva

As a huge fan of Amouage, it was a matter of time until I get my hands on Memoir. It was love and obsession from the first sniff. Incense is a tricky note for me but here it integrated so well that I can't imagine this perfume without it.
If I have to describe it in very simple terms I'd say that it smells like a herbal medical balm, mixed with incense from an esoteric shop, very powerful wormwood, and something like honey aka urinal nuances. May sound weird, but it all works, and it is done in a very intricate and clever way.

Vixtor

If anyone has both this and Chanel’s Lion I highly recommend layering them. The combination is on another level!

Cherry_Darling

Ah I really wanted to like this one but looking at that wormwood and especially the dior comparison I knew something was off. Great quality don't get me wrong but this scent is from a bygone era for sure. It is certainly very dior poison - and many other old school balsamic chypres. Lots of notes, plenty of florals, heavy on the clove, a touch of skank...vintage lovers this may be for you. I can appreciate the smooth and balanced quality but it's just not my genre.

Edit: definitely not like suki weil - but indeed a little like kouros!

RkrChk

Aww, Geez..! I so much wanted to like this one -- it turned extremely masculine on me straight outta the gate ...

zangrav

Masterpiece. Classics, the best chypre fragrance for me. Elegant, sophisticated, dark, deep, mysterious.

dzingunyte

This is my Christmas eve scent. And it smell dang expensive, luxurious and elegant. No one can deny it.
Merry Christmas everybody!

Ontolome

I don't understand this one yet, but keep coming back to it. Well-blended as it is, it is also more opulent and complex than i ordinarily enjoy...

I love its male counterpart, Memoir Man, plainly feral and austere (hence the frequent Geralt of Rivia association). Memoir Woman, on the other hand, is a creature of civilization. I can smell the spice trade and silk roads, which initially disappointed me. But Woman is also seductive, dynamic, opaque... For all of the linear coolness of Man, here I get candied fruits and spices in glittering bowls, a smoldering hearth, and domineering presence. Woman carries all of the narrative evolution, in this couple.

Perhaps MM and MW are a Hades and Persephone, eternally and beautifully middle-aged in their radiant death-realm. Kidnapped as a girl (Hades was rarely subtle– nor is Memoir Man, for that matter), she is plied with the fruits of death and made queen. Better to reign in hell than serve the gods above, she'd say now...

supersaiyan

A decadent scent that, yes, is gothic I suppose, but I don't smell any of the leather or incense or oakmoss that everyone is talking about. This is not a chypre to me. There is no detectable oakmoss, nor the signature Amouage incense I know and adore; however, that's not to say it is a bad scent. Memoir W smells like a luxurious, 3 Michelin Star restaurant plum cream to me, very velvety and smooth and deep and boozy. I'm shocked at how sweet it is. By the notes, Memoir W should be a dry, spooky gothic incense, but instead it smells like sweet plums! I like it on the skin but it smells like Ted Lapidus Rumba out of the nozzle, which I hate. Wear it on skin for the proper experience!

mmmmgood

might sound strange...but to my mind, this is what Count Dracula would wear. Lets not forget, Dracula...the REAL Dracula in Bram Stoker's novel, was RICH, bitch!...and owned all kinds of land surrounding his castle....he knew something about inherited wealth. And as old as he was, Im sure he made the rounds in the wealthiest social circles thruout his centuries old-lifetime. So, Im almost certain his vanity and money, would've motivated him to wear a perfume that just flat-out smelled like, luxury. And Memoir Woman is something that I think he would have loved. I mean, how could he have NOT liked a black bottle, crowned with a regal looking cap that was itself, capped with something that sorta looks like a black diamond.

This definition of this perfume, that says it smells like velvet is dramatic, but I get what posters are trying to convey. Velvet evokes luxury...and if ever there was a man that could wear a velvet, black cape and get away with it, it would be Dracula, yea?...in my opinion, Memoir smells ancient and aristocratic and old school and warm and balmy and smoky. Its not a casual fragrance at all, to me. Im sure there are those who wear it to work. But this is a scent that Id wear with a black suit...of which I have 4 (different looks)...and a pair of hot looking, black, suede, wingtip ankle boots (of which, Im too embarrassed to admit to how many pairs I own). I was given a 10 ml, some yrs ago, and never forgot the smell. So, Im going all in on a bigger bottle, soon.

okamikiera

I can see how this could be spellbinding, rich and inviting… but it’s a very old, galbanum-heavy amber chypre for me. Think Coco, Opium, Bal a Versailles, Tabu: lots of oakmoss and sandalwood. Musty fur coats and incense to the max, bold and daring to wear in the modern day, so I wouldn't want a bottle... but I can’t stop sniffing it. I’ll have to sample this one again.

Bella B

Unfortunately, this one is not the gothic masterpiece I was looking for. It's gothic, though. Dark, heavy, mature and smells more like a burnt (not burning) incense in an old church. It has a melancholy in it, but still...not the grief feeling Black Orchid creates to me. I don't know, I had high expectations and it disappointed me. It has nothing romantic, seductive or feminine imo, if you are looking for something like that.

Ferra_Verto

Spicy & soapy oriental bliss; lightly sour plum & spicy woods delves into smoky & very spicy florals and woods. Animalic and powdery shades of leather waft through as the scent dries down.
Very sensual and all-encompassing, gives the same olfactory effect as TF's Noir de Noir (not the same scent, but same experience so to speak).
Best suited for cool/cold weather, lasts for 10 hrs on the skin at the least.
Definitely a star in the Amouage collection.

Holliebobollie

I love this one for all evening wear. Something that smells like black velvet. Halloween vibes even. Such a beautiful dark and mysterious scent. I usually hate oak moss and castoreum but they work here for me.

Fragaddict123

Supposedly a chypre
Well…. It doesn’t smell like one
It is an enjoyable scent somehow sweet and ambery
A little bit of sourness
There are a lot of notes listed but I don’t get a lot
To me it’s on the lesser side of amouage
The quality this house provides is better than this creation not always but usually
Performance is good not as powerful as the rest
Does is it add value to my collection……no
Soooo another pass from this house

Gatorsrules

This is a gorgeous Chypre. I get plum, smoke, woods and sexiness. My favourite Amouage. Wears like a dream, and projects perfectly without being headache inducing. A must try!

Update: This has become an obsession of mine. It reminds me of where my grandmother is from, France. Not in an old lady French way, but a gothic castle. the lady of the castle spraying it on before she goes to sleep at sunrise after her bloody feeding. Yes, it’s vampirical to me.

Enrium

I was excited to try Memoir, and it fully lives up to my expectations. It is another rich, complex perfume from Amouage that pays homage to the classics while looking to the future. It is very well-blended, and as a result it is hard to pick out individual notes. It is a herbal-smoky-woody-amber scent with a floral heart. It reminds me in places of vintage Opium in particular, but I understand the Poison comparisons too - there is a plum-tuberose accord in here too. There are facets of other Amouage scents in here too, namely Lyric Woman (spicy rose), Epic Woman (rose-oud), Interlude (smoky-woody-floral-amber) and Fate (old-style oriental). Memoir feels more oriental than chypre, but the oakmoss and leather notes in the base qualify Memoir for chypre status. Opulent and dark, this belongs alongside the best of Amouage.

Memoir starts off quite herbal thanks to the wormwood; damp, dark green and slightly bitter. I get something slightly bittersweet that is akin to angelica, and some peppery notes that kick-start the spiciness. Balsamic and boozy, it is joined by floral notes after a little while. Rose is initially the most prominent floral note to me, complemented in the most classic way by sweet spices, especially clove. Incense adds smokiness, and it is pretty woody here too. This accord always reminds me of Mass - I absolutely adore a good incense note, and when it is combined with wood/spices/rose - all the better! Here, it really reminds me of Lyric.

As it develops, tuberose emerges. Heady in a vintage-style manner, it resembles a more muted Poison, particularly as I swear I can smell plum here too. The woody notes and spices remain, and the sweet amber accord in the base develops thanks to the labdanum, paving the way to the leather accord. The leather is animalic but soft, adding a nice depth to Memoir at its later stages. It becomes slightly mossy as it fades, the oakmoss and leather forming the chypre here. It fades to a dry, animalic, mossy skin scent with a hint of incense. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting.

Another excellent, opulent perfume from Amouage, this is unisex despite the name. Best worn in autumn/winter for special occasions. Beautiful and expensive-smelling, but I don't think I need full bottles of both this and Lyric in my collection. 4.5/5.

neonaya

Amber with bitter herbs. Could be my winner but I can detect something reminiscent to plum, that I do not really like and also it turns into bitter chypre in its base. I enjoy classic old fashioned chypres while modern varieties has something irritating for my nose and can cause headache. That’s why with all respect to this rich composition I will pass…

Memoir 2021 3.4oz bottle reviewed.

Memoir is the granddaughter of the greats. If you turned aspects of Opiums spicyness chypre...Poisons sweet inscense grape-ness from the tuberose..throw in leathery castorum and fenugreek for a nuttyness and a rather interesting cooling accord I can only surmise from the cardamom/styrax/tuberose combo once seen in Lutens Tuberose Criminelle...add mandarin and pink pepper to the rose... you have quite a story.

The spices run cold, as this whole Chypre runs cold in the veins of great grandma Maggie Noire. Its a dark, cool Chypre. We havent seen too many cool Chypres since the 80s. This isnt as bombastic as those larger than life scents.

Its expertly blended, complex for this day and age and would be great for the cool days of fall and winter.

I immediately felt comfortable wearing Memoir. Mostly because I wore her influences over the years. Memoir is her own creation but its a new update for the woman that wore Poison, Opium, et al. Mature over 30 scent but definately not grandma vibe in the least. Mysterious. I like that.

Amouage memoir

A spicy soap… a spicy spice combo. Incense, black pepper, clove flowers and all that... all I feel is the smell of spicy soap. The memoir put a great distance between herself and sweets. She is a little depressed, she is spreading a strong scent around her and shwe says don't love me too much. If you love too much, you will bore me very much; And if you squeeze too hard, I'll strangle you, I'll disturb you. Touch me once in a while, take it in your hand... and blow me up to 2 blows; and that's a place you can't smell all the time… Feel me lightly, otherwise I'll tire you out. You can't carry me on purpose, your sensitive body can't take my authority. Hay right amouage memoir you are a really compelling fragrance.

Not in terms of fragrance beauty; an overly dominant, overpowering scent… Ahe doesn't want to be on that skin all the time. She says in the meantime, take me in your hand. Slowly, I regret the fact that I often brutally falter. I am, she says, if you cross the border, I will tire you out and give you a headache.

Memoir finds itself in balanced hands… Therefore, it is certainly not the type that every user can adopt… Its spread is quite characteristic. Undoubtedly, it is very original… It is debatable whether it is the best scent of Amouage. Who knows who this is? Is there an expert; does it have to be Is the pleasure of my nose the pleasure of your nose, is it up to the snotty nose of another person who is created equal to you and me? Wow, what a narcissistic fusion. Surely this is not acceptable.
Smell it, if you love it, don't even go near it if it's spicy. It is exactly the smell of cold times, a dark depressive, somewhat sad, deeply sad, slightly dirty scent memoir. That's it…

LSAUG

Memoir Woman is a rich and opulent spicy oriental fragrance. Bold, sexual and dominate. While I do like this, I still would rather wear my vintage YSL Opium or Estee Lauder Youth Dew. I just like them a lot better. Plus Youth Dew doesn't break the bank.

Jloveparfum

Memoir Woman is a gorgeous chypre-leather, in my opinion.
She combines the elegance and sensuality of a lush, dark oriental with the sophistication and depth of a spicy and smoky leather.

A masterpiece of perfumery.
He has an opulent, complex and mysterious personality that captivates the senses.

It opens with beautiful spicy and aromatic accords. Herbaceous and citrus. Cardamom and wormwood ennoble the opening, giving it a warm and enveloping character, and at the same time providing freshness and contrast.

The heart is dark, woody and spicy; dominated by incense, which gives it a resinous and sacred dimension, covering with its veil a floral, sweet and narcotic bouquet, composed of opulent flowers (nardard, jasmine and rose) unfolding towards an extraordinary base, where the flowers intertwine in soft animalic chords (leather, castoreum) mixed in a wonderful symphony of amber and balsamic notes giving richness, beauty and refinement to the composition.

It is definitely a masterpiece. Warm, cozy, sexy, dark like the bottle that contains it; elegant and very sophisticated.

The performance is excellent, the substantivity on my skin reaches 10 hours. With diffusion and moderate Sillage.

saccitygrl01

This one from amouage bears out again to me that it is a must to try the fragrances from this house on your own skin with your own body chemistry.

I might have gone along with the various descriptions here of this fragrance being mysterious, spicy, smoky and gothic but this one goes so sweet on me that it reminds me of spiced winter holiday candy. This sweetness endures for me until there is just a residue of the base notes.

On me this fragrance is somewhat linear. The most notable top note is wormwood and a fruity sweetness which endures throughout the experience. The wormwood merges with the incense and clove when the heart notes open to become a bit deeper and fuller scent. The sweetness is still there but now it is less fruity and begins to become somewhat floral. I really don't get any of the base notes until the top and heart notes have completely burned off and the fragrance is about to disappear.

It is a lovely scent and I enjoy it but it is definitely not what I expected based on the reviews here or the description/fragrance pyramid. It seems more gourmand not unlike Amouage Imitation with its syrupy black currant mingled with incense and other spiced notes.

It is potent with strong - moderate projection and sillage. Don't be afraid to try it, its not the gloom and doom dark scent many describe here.

Bubbles1964

Wonderful, I’m sure there’s not much to add in my review about this beautiful scent. Memoir is a spicy, herbal, amber scent. Everything is mixed well in this composition, and I simply love it. Memoir is a masterpiece.

msamber86

To start I get a mix of orange and cardamom. I am normally not a fan of citrus in scents, but this orange is sweet and mixes so well with the cardamom. But then the florals come in and they aren’t well blended. It becomes this generic sweet smell that becomes cloying. I was hoping for the incense and cloves to come in to balance the sweetness of the florals but those notes don’t seem to come through for me. Then base notes come in, but it doesn’t feel like anything special.

harpymae

smells absolutely incredible. If you’ve ever smelled the Burt’s bees cherry lip balm before, I can tell you that this smells almost exactly like it for some reason but in the best way possible. So effortlessly powerful and I get a nice fruity note on my skin too!!

Lindina27

Reminds me of Dior Poison plus leather and wood.. I'm surprised plum isn't listed as ingredient.
Elegant, mature and intense, it has the lightness of flowers masterfully blended with deep, rich woods. Its balsamic notes are what I find addictive and refreshing, however the woody and smoky notes a quite prominent for my taste and for that reason I believe its more appropriate for cooler weather.

veghozsuzska

The parfume of Lestat the vampire.
It's a very unique, warm, balsamic parfume for fall or for rainy days. The smell has a vintage, victorian vibe what i really like. Like a little dark fairy tale. It's not leathery or heavy in my skin, either a little bit warm sweety and I smell a tiny plum jam shift.

Crystalita76

Memoir Woman - 🐉
Captivating and daring.
I’m was not impressed with the opening but the dry down is just amazing.
It has an earthy type of vibe to it in the beginning of the fragrance but turns into a spicy slightly sweet haven of balsamic deliciousness.
Blended to perfection, the spices take this to the band wagon through the Ivory Route gathering the highest quality spices to sell to the Kings of Persia.
The leather and castoreum are covered here by the heavy oak moss, peppers and cardamom.
A masterpiece in perfumery really ⭐️
This is completely unisex.
It almost converts into the same scent you’d smell when sweet spices are baking.
If you’re looking for florals you won’t find them here.
This would be great for colder weather.
Somewhat exquisite smelling.
The performance is outstanding as I’ve had with all fragrances from Amouage.
Lasts for days on clothing and hour after hour on the skin.
Extremely projecting but smooth.
Very unique scent.
It is definitely in the same fragrance group with Dior Poison but they are not dupes or really even similar to me.
The bottle is beautiful along with the nice velvet interior of the casing.
Definitely sample this one.
It’s not for everyone.
High classy goodness ❤️🔥

emione

Wow a masterpiece and exceptional performance on all accounts 2 to 4 sprays is all you need. You could say I leans feminine but I love it and wear it a man can wear this!

Norgirl

Such a beautiful scent , I dont know why i was so affraid of testing this one . everybody sayed it was so dark , so smokey , so leathery. Dracula and fallen angels was mentioned . ..What....?? i cant feel that at all, Im starting to belive i see scents different then others . This to me isent all that dark . All the flowers in this beauty stand out and shines on a woody slightly spicy base . Ok there is darknes but not dark as in gloomy or scary . Its a night time scent ( but id happely wear it in daytime aswell. (The same goes for Midnigth poison , it isent that dark as many make it out to be on my skin . Not that this are alike ,they are not).
I do feel similarity to poison with the fleshy white floral plum kind of note. But they are not that close ,just similar in that regard. This outdoes the poison big time .
I do feel clove incense , wormwood ,oakmoss and incense but its rather sweet do to the floral notes and also the resins i guess . I think the mandarin orange also must be a part of the sweetnes i cant realy say where the sweetnes comes from .Its all mixed together so well.
This may not be for he young at heart that likes fruity floral , But to me it isent all that challenging that people makes it out to be. or maybe i just like this kinds of scent i dont know . Amouage seems to affect people so very differently, and offcourse skin cemestry is also a big thing.
I also finaly got to test Interlude ,did not find this one tricky eather , So many beautys from this house .
On my skin there is not much leather or smoke ,hardly anything . sweet Incense yes but not smoke . again goes do show how different this sits on skin . I love it

osy2017

Love, love, love this one. It is plumb jam with lots of sugar made on a camp fire and cooled up before serving. This is sweet smoky plum and I see no smoke or plum listed in the notes. It is a dark and sexy, great for winter. It is definitely more complex than I can describe it.

KladfvbungMicshk

This ones very rich, smoky, leathery, and kind of burnt-sugary, almost like a twisted gourmand. To my nose the most prominent (imagined) note is severely burnt sugar concentrated to the bottom of a pan, that you’ll never be able to scrape off. I like it but I don’t find it to be wearable *unless* you embody the personality of this fragrance 100%. I can see why people love it but I can also see why people hate it. It has a place though for sure. It can be a bit suffocating, but I haven’t tried it in spray form to test out its true sillage.

onaona

I've tried this fragrance many times over the years, as my taste changes, and it never gets any better for me. Never.

Memoir is complex but not a fragrance I would describe as well blended.. My nose smells every single note, even the ones I wish I didn't, except the florals. All listed florals (rose, jasmine, white flowers) are AWOL on my skin. Would that have made a difference for me? It's doubtful.

Memoir is simply too dark, too spicy, and way too smoky! It's too much of almost everything dark. In an attempt to be edgy, or sexy, or mysterious or whatever, it goes overboard. It even upsets the leather note for me. I love leather in fragrance, but the leather here is not a new handbag, or found on a ranch, it's a night spent in a leather only bar...correction, a BAD night spent in a leather only bar. Personally, I don't want a memoir of the occasion written on my skin.

Projection? around the bar
Longevity? sadly, yes

brkcldg

I've never smelled anything special like that !

vasilakis13

Is this wearable from a man??a friend told me that he wears memoir for women and is better than mans

antolin1

This is a big scent with a lot going on, definitely gives me a mistress of the king circa 1700’s kind of vibe. It’s complex, dark and mysterious, which is usually up my alley in terms of scent profiles, but I just could not get into it no matter how hard I tried (and believe me, I tried!). While well blended, there was an underlying component my skin simply does not jive with – my guess is the cardamom note. I love the smoothness of the incense, but found the clove notes overwhelming to the point of discomfort. Even so, I hesitate in stating I dislike this; it just was not for me. It really reminded me of the original Fendi perfume, at least to my scent memory. This is the scent that made me realize I am no longer the chypre gal that I was in the early 1990’s.

brokesta911

Sotd: Amouage Memoir Woman (2010) - dark and opulent - #danielmaurel and #dorotheepiot’s, fit for any sex perfume, starts with a grape-like opening, yet morphs quickly into smokey incense, laced with clove, leather and more spices. There’s a slight floral aspect from rose as well. Heavenly in smell, yet something twisted is lurking in the dark. Masterpiece.

Neckromancer

This smells like someone who is really enthusiastic about Halloween.
Setting: Cool autumn nights, preferably when there's fog
Season of the witch. Double double toil and trouble.
And it burns! upon application for a couple of seconds.
It smells much better from afar than up close. Up close there's the cloves, which I like, and the leather and wormwood, which I don't like. There is a bitterness present. At arms length, I can smell a mature tart grapiness that I do enjoy. I don't know how the grapiness develops, probably the white flowers, the orange, and the incense bubb bubb bubblin' and mingling. It's really not my style, and it's pretty strong, but I think it's one of those scents that I could wear occasionally.
Vibes: Kristen Ritter in Breaking Bad

Labwuh

Memoir Woman Amouage.

Should you desire to beguile those around you then choose Memoir to be your weapon of choice.

A mysterious dark seductive chypre incensey scent that will leave a trail of blissful destruction.

An enchanted Nocturnal perfume...

103057

This starts out very fruity on me. It's a dark, juicy, somewhat gloomy red fruit - cherry, pomegranate, apple... There are no red fruits in the notes, but that's what I smell.

There are also cloves, and lying beneath the brighter notes, dark currents of incense. I wonder if a combination of the 'white flowers' and the juicy orange could be causing the red fruit scent.

If this were less sweet and juicy, I think I'd quite like it. As it is, I feel faintly ill whenever I get a strong whiff of it.

If you want a dark, spicy, opulent fragrance and are okay with fruity sweet notes, this would work well for you. Stereotypically speaking I would call it unisex. It's quite strong.

Italian pigeon musk

Ok this probably deserves a few more wears but I used a whole 2ml sample so this is my first impressions.

This definitely felt like a cold weather scent. It opened up with a strong blast of insense, I felt like I walked into a head shop filled with insense sticks, hand blown glass smoking aperatuses, all types of trinkets complete with a woman in the back room behind a beaded doorway that reads fortunes named madame memoir.

This is gothic, dark, insense, white florals and powdery.

To be honest the opening insense smelled kinda cheap. Although I think it was the white flowers coming through that I didn't immediately notice causing it to smell this way.

Dry powder became heavy handed half way through wearing this. It reminded me as if Andy Tauer did a dark gothic flanker of insense extreme.

The dry down, I'm smelling now, (mostly on clothes as I wore this to the gym and it's been compromised already and basically gone on my skin), is giving me a fuzzy cola vibe. Reminding me a bit of tobacco vanille and perhaps noir extreme.

This seems like a pretty complex fragrance that like I said, I think deserves more wears to appreciate, although I don't think it's for me.

This is definitely 100% unisex, in my opinion. I would actually think more women would be challenged with this scent than men.

Great projection/sillage, seems like it's a long lasting fragrance, overall it's a nice one, probably not for me though.

Miss Dolittle

She arrived this morning. I haven't fallen in love at first sniff. There is something in the background that smells kind of dated/ old. I really hope it grows on me and develops to something I love....Update. Now colder days are upon us. I really love this. Beautiful, sexy. , smokey. Just divine.

Saraphina

I’m lovestruck! This perfume is disarmingly beautiful, subtle, sensuous and smouldering, like a soft smokey plum caress.
After reading many reviews, I had expected a hard hitting spicy incense bomb, complex and dark but was surprised to discover Memoir was a far softer and powdery fragrance. It whispers seductively, enveloping you but at no point does it shout- it is far too sophisticated for that.
Great winter, evening fragrance.
A chimera, it smells reminiscent of several of my favourite perfumes combined. On first spritz I immediately was reminded of Tom Ford’s Plum Japonais (sadly discontinued and my favourite of his range), with a swirl of Christian Dior’s Poison and a definite touch of Guerlain’s Santal Royal, the woody aspects. These impressions continue as the scent develops over time. It has amazing longevity but on me only moderate silage.
Sophisticated, mysterious, fiercely feminine, sexy and edgy .This scent is fit for a siren and as enchanting as her song.

H3rr4h_4her

You know those shops that sell incense, wooden elephants, and dream catchers? Yeah, it smells like one of those but curiously not too heavy or headache inducing (at least to me). There's also a certain sweetness to it in the background as opposed to the aforementioned shops that are often heavy on wood, detergent, sweat or all of the above. Also cozy in a very unique way, FBW for those who can pull off the vibe otherwise I'd just pull out the sample whenever you are feeling it.

YlangLover0912

The love and desire that I have for this perfume, started 4 years ago when I was in Venice , and then an Arab woman was walking very close where I was and her perfume hipnotized me.
I made an effort to remember all the aromatic composition , and then I was looking for something similar and I discover Memoir. It was love at first sight.

Unfortunately it was out of stock , but I acquired two decants and they were like gold for me.

Epic Memoir Journey (Woman) are my favorites from Amouage.

M.Golightly

I have always wanted a bottle of Amouage for some of it's creation shows the best when it comes to fragrance. I have waited a long while to pick the perfect bottle for me and with time I found the perfect Amouage for me and it is Memoir.

A lot of the reviewers have mentioned how dark and 'grown up' this fragrance is and I do agree with them. This is a fragrance with a great backbone, it is deep and complex. The orange, incense, spices and leather is well blended and it morphs into this sensual and intriguing oriental fragrance. For me it gives a mysteriously distinct scent with a subtle grand presence. Like sharing time with a woman whom you want to know more of but you simply are a little hesitant to intrude.

Lastly, this fragrance for me is very nostalgic. I say nostalgic because it has the same cord as Poison which my beautiful mother wore. She was the Matriarch in the family. This brings up memories of simply sitting beside her in complete awe of her strength and elegance. She was a quiet and fierce woman who defined love and wisdom.

This is the core of fragrance for me for it brings back memories and it creates new memories as well....like a Memoir.....simply memorable.

theuntrainednose

I have a sample.

Aaah :) This is one of my comfort zones in fragrance: the deep, incense-y, spicy oriental of old.

I can smell the leather, like old leather sofas. That leather that is no longer so bitter and no longer smells so much of tar, and started smelling of maintenance wax products and of the old wood that surrounds it. There's a delicious sweet honeyed spice note mixed with incense smoke. It morphs as time goes by. Interesting, complex, delicious.

Delightful and I would love to own it. There's no way I'll be able to reasonably afford all the Amouages I love in full bottle, and there's only so much perfume you can wear in a lifetime (I do currently have enough full bottles, I think), but I'll still register it as a "want". For now, I'll keep enjoying my samples (from a generous fragrantican), and maybe in the future I'll buy another set of samples if I wish to.

In another universe, where I live surrounded in luxury, I have a set of full bottles of Amouage which I wear and also share with abandon to perfume the ones who love it :) Amouage is, for me, the stuff of dreams.

LaContessina

Very Complex Fragrance, on the heavy side with a strong pepper and tuberose note.
There is a sugar sweet, candied fruit note but this could very well be the tuberose.
Very heady, strong & feminine, yet verging on the masculine side as you smell notes as leather and incense.
The pepper and tuberose note (reminds me of the old Versace Blonde) are disturbing my nose, so does the incense, it's like holy and profane together and they do not quite match - at least in this composition.
Memoir is said to be a "leather animalic chypre”, but to me it is little animalic (oh well, tuberose is often mistaken with being animalic)
and little chypre, as it lacks the green, oakmoss iconic part all chypres should have in common.

The drydown is more domesticated with some ambery and rose note. Not something you should bathe into nor suitable for offices or small crowded places.
As I said, it is very complex and interesting in its construction but not my cup of tea. A nice to try, but there are some better Amouages around.

Charlize2014

I have a decant, I was very interested in this because I like dark mysterious perfumes, but I must say I will not buy this one. It is old fashioned sort of 80s perfumes nothing wrong with it, is just doesn’t suit me. Reminds me of Dior perfumes. It is strong and the longevity is great, you can feel the quality of this perfume. Fruity, dark and sweet, there is incense in it which I like.

soumikmal

My very own elixir of the night, this was the longest I've waited to get my hands on an Amouage, I already had Jubilation 25 (W), Epic (W), Fate (W), Interlude (M), Figment (M), Gold (M), Opus VIII and Opus IX before this, but this was the one I always secretly coveted...

This one was the olfactory poetry that made me fall in love with the house of Amouage, a composition that does a mock curtsey to vintage Dior Poison and then comes in with an intoxicating miasma of dark stewed fruits, hefty Incense, an animalic Leather and Castoreum, all the while Cloves and Artemisia attempt their unholy seduction in the background.
This is more 'noir' than most of the perfumes that have the word half a dozen times in their naming. Amouage Memoir Woman is an enchantress of the night, with a darkness that could shadow a thousand suns.

roseyessence

If you love Epic woman, Epic Man, oh you are gonna love this.
How does Amouage keep doing this?
This is not for little boys and girls. It strictly for grown, mature folks and noses who appreciate the art of perfumery.
It is not mass appealing but I guarantee you that everybody loves this. It is compliment after compliment.

This is an artful amelioration of so many parts that come in as one.

She is thick, floral, animalic, leathery, warm, incense, beautiful, unapologetic, sexy, long lasting, projects like a mother.. in your face etc
To me it is BLIND BUY worthy. Keep a back up bottle too.

Suejoybbq

This is a heavy hitter. It is not for girls or for people that need to smell like sugar frosted cupcakes with marshmallows and sprinkles. This is a sure of herself woman who has lived and loved; who is confident, authentic, and has nothing to prove- she lives life on her own terms. I’m not sure if I can totally live up to it yet- this woman has her ish together, and I’m still working on it. But it is intoxicatingly beautiful! An animalic opening, then the incense, spices, and wood make the florals sultry and intriguing. I spray one or two sprays on my jacket and scarf (it is now January), and feel like a boss. The sillage and longevity are both large, so ‘less is more’, the way an extra undone button on a crisp white shirt is sexier than a barely there mini skirt. You want to lean into this woman but she doesn’t let you kiss her on the cheek. To be near her you must submit yourself- and you do so without hesitation- and it is totally worth it.

UnearthlyApothecary

I finally got around to trying this, had high expectations but was very underwhelmed. It smells like a lighter version of Agent Provocateur Miss AP. Which is a lighter version of L’Agent. Doesn’t smell any more high quality or less synthetic then either of those. Doesn’t project as well either. Same smoky cherry cough syrup vibe but there is something /oily plasticky underlying this one that I just don’t care for (the castoreum/leather?) I usually love both of those but I guess not in this one lol I much prefer either of the Agent Provocateur scents, more wearable for me personally

Jacobean Lily

Memoir is the 3rd Amouage scent I've tried from their plush 12-vial toy box for grown-ups.
Essentially this is a syrupy leather-chypre shot-through with clouds of incense on me.
It begins with a herbal, almost tobacco, waft with syrupy clove and mandarin, balanced by the dry chypre note surging up fast. There's something else I guess could be decribed as animalistic; I was reminded of the way a hot, just-bathed-and-just-broke-out-in-a-sweat young body smells. Interesting, almost visceral.
But after about 10 minutes that is gone and plush leather enfolds the syrupy mandarin and incense in a warm, luxurious way.
After 30 minutes its as if all the heady flowers of Arabia are wafting in through my open window, while behind me incense drifts over leather as I taste clove-infused mandarin juice.
After an hour all of this is deepened with musk and a greenish quality which may be the Absynth mentioned above, or may be the oak-moss and labdanum; impossible to say.
This is plush luxury in a bottle, although not as grand as Jubilation 25 on my skin. If mystical chypre is your thing, try that as well...

Today's haiku:

Arabian nights
incense and clove on leather
a syrupy dream

Allers

Ohh, this one is complicated... I've had it for years as a special occasion frag. Incense and flowers.. It changes so much with weather! Every time I wear it I get a different smell, sometimes very dry church spice, sometimes a bit skanky, sometimes really flowery. There is nothing quite like it out there, it's definitely a masterpiece. I loved my husband's description of it when he smelled it on me - "Victorian funeral, but in a good way"
Projection, sillage, longevity - out of this world, this stuff is potent.

kiraagold

La, this is lovely.

Incense that's been soaked in sweet wine, an antique spice chest with gilt hinges, a library of flowers pressed in rare books--

Fills the room at first, labdanum fueling soft animalics, then slowly fades to the skin. Wormwood takes the sweetness from the cloves to make them leathery and rich, but roses soften the edges, making it feminine.

Lasts all day, and even longer in the hair, vintage luxury at its best.

Vixtor

Completely unisex, it's also my Halloween scent :)(although I intend for Opus X to take its place this year). I imagine Narcissa Malfoy would bathe in this. It smells opulent, old money rich and very serious. Unfortunately, maybe it's just my batch (bought from an exclusive distributor for Amouage), but I get awful performance. Sillage is practically nonexistent in less than 2 hours, and the fragrance is only present as a light skin scent. I don't care much though since I love the scent and also seldom use it so I don't mind reapplying then.

Vickalicious

This is the first Amouage I've tried, and I'm not disappointed at all. This is an incredibly sexy and addictive warm, balsamic, floral, incense fragrance. However, be warned that the opening is very animalic--I get a urine vibe in the opening--I guess from the castoreum.

Once the animalic opening dissipates, this turns into a heavy slightly vintage feeling floral incense fragrance. I actually get the incense throughout the whole wear, even in the opening. The dry down is extremely sexy and very unisex (I noticed some reviewers said it was masculine)- this is a fragrance I’d love to smell on a man. Definitely want to add this one to my collection.

Atlante_Pleiade

This fragrance is wonderful! Very deep, smokey and sweet. Smells like Indian shop for crystals and aromatic sticks.
I have a 2ml sample and I am definitely going to buy the 100ml bottle.

labonvie

This is a nice fragrance but it isn’t me. I would have worn and loved this in the past but my tastes have changed. The incense reminds me of college...it smells like a dorm room in which somebody burned copious amounts of nag champa. It seems to be missing some bright or fresh or pungent element to cut through the dense, sweet smoke. It’s also well above 100 degrees where I live...not a great choice for a summer day. It does remind me a bit of vintage Poison, though. Maybe it will fare better in winter.

Edit: I was WRONG! I love this. Better in slightly cooler weather (still in the 90’s) and I bet it will be even better when there’s a chill in the air.

Abid Khatri

This is some excellent stuff, performance is too good.
Smell:8/10
Performance:8hrs+

bintTapputi

"This is a chypre fragrance evoked by the transcendental discovery of her past, present and future echoed in this fragmented memoir."

It's brilliant. Instant purchase for me. Very sophisticated and beautiful. This is exactly what I want to smell like: smokey, spicy, leathery, kind of almost boozy, it's chypre it's animalic it's incense it's elegant... absolutely very well rounded, versatile, complex, deep, really gorgeous fragrance. It does so much and so well. 9.5/10

SweetBriar

The beginning of this is pure HEAVEN- grapey incense and spices. its not as good after an hour or two ( more like an elderly lady perfume) but still pretty amazing. I wish it stayed at that beginning stage though.

jenkuma

This smells like the softest possible incense floral. I'm not familiar with many of the more prominent notes listed for this perfume so I'm not sure exactly what floral note I'm picking up, but it's very pretty. I associate incense based perfumes as being pungent and headache inducing, but this perfume is not like that. It's a very soft, comforting fragrance. The notes are blended well. I might consider this should I want to branch out of my typical fresh/floral perfumes.

Update: I can definitely understand the reviews categorizing this as masculine. While it opens as a very feminine fragrance (imo) it changes after an hour or two to a kind of light, barbershop type fragrance. Still pleasant but very different from the opening.

I can not compare this amazing smell with any perfume it is complex and for every changing on my skin with the dry down .I love lyric and Clive Christian X Memoir is up there ad one of the best complex uni sex perfume.I just want to add I've stopped eating meats chicken for about 8 months and have noticed the perfume is a little dryer not as sweet on the dry down . Amazing perfume can smell it on my bed sheets the following day just lingers a true complex master piece lets hope the house of Amouarge don't alter the notes in the coming years.

Advaitaforever

This is such a powerful perfume, it’s probably one of the most polarising beautiful scents I’ve seen. I love it but it grew on me. It has a bitter green, quality that reminds me of a dark character. Someone like Malificent, a sorceress with long, slender claws, black draping hair and a sallow complexion and eyes like eternal tunnels of starry darkness, lips pursed like a greying lilac. The cloves add a chilling, menthol-esque quality, lending a stand-offish, elitist character to this scent. Her pain has grown roots of wisdom in her, she withstood the chaos and now her heart is made of diamond.

This is so interesting and incomparable to any other perfume I’ve tried before. It’s very heavy and dominating, so it’s not for a conformist wallflower. You wear this for your own pleasure.

Memoir is completely unisex but it’s definitely for the decisive and bold people. This one suits a self-assured, confident and lone wolf.

It has a strong, matriarchal and regal presence. This would be such a perfect choice for a beautiful, elegant, mature and chaste woman. Someone who is a source of strength for those around her. She empowers, she nurtures and she never compromises on what she wants.

Poison dior married l'agent agent provocateur and had memoir!

AMajeedQT

Spicy, dark incense.

Memoir is a goth.

The peppered-up incense drys down to reveal a mild fruity-sweet yet dark note. Something like plum or dried fruits.

Memoir smells like an incensed sacred place. The incense note does smell dark & aged.

A very mature, cold weather wear that is easily unisex.

A must try for incense lovers.

Big "Like"

gtabasso

incense, styrax. labdanum, musk, sweetens as it dries down, was a little bitter in the opening but stays ressinous and balsamic throughout; lovely but smells like other things I own that I can't put my finger on, something vintage and sort of like a watered-down Tauer at times

Oh, Memoir. You take me back in time, lady.

As a kid in the '80s, with mum, aunts and grandmothers always around, meant a swirl of cigarette smoke and heavy-hitting orientals such as Poison and Opium when being given hugs :) I'm even getting a little Joop! pour Femme in the dry down, hours later. I bought a sample of this because I'm exploring leathers, but I did not expect to be wrapped in a blanket of heady, smokey nostalgia. I will finish this sample during the rest of Autumn and Winter, on nights out. It feels very mature (I'm in my 40s), but not aloof or too sophisticated. It's got an edge, but a warm intoxicating one. I associate it with love (not necessarily romantic love), confidence, comfort. An exciting alluring hug in a bottle.

Edit: This stuff is addictive! FB worthy for sure, which if I start saving for now, I should be able to gift myself for Xmas next year :D Memoir, you have stolen my heart <3

This is my first Amouage, and I don't think this will be my last. I bought a 100ml bottle blind, and I'm so pleased with my purchase! Even before I broke the seal on the shrink-wrap, I knew this was of the highest quality, luxury. I love the velvety interior of the box. This perfume is the smell of velvet! This smells to me of a balmy oriental, not a chypre. A bit Coco-esque. God, this is good. It's hard to pick out notes, as it's so expertly blended. I've been wearing this every day for a week, that's how amazing this is. Yes, this is expensive, but let me tell you, you get what you pay for. I dressed up as a vampiress for Halloween, and guess what perfume I wore with it?

I work at a Starbucks located in a very touristy area of a European capital. It was about 9pm and I was at the cashier. This woman arrives at Starbucks - she's tall, classy, not a common beauty. Her friendliness is a very marked aspect of her approach. So, she asks for a Chai Tea Latte. When she was paying by credit card, I had to ask. And I never do. But this time I had to. "Your perfume is really really good. What's the name of it?". Working in a public place, I rarely catch a good perfume. Or a remarkable perfume. She started searching in her bag, and pulled the Perfume off. Then she touched my arm, in order to reach my wrist, while saying "try it on your skin". And magic happened. I had it sprayed on my wrist. First impact was thinking "Wow this is really strong but...not intrusive." Perfect balance. After a while, it levitates around you without ever conflicting with your personality. It is sexy, sure of itself, and very sensitive. I felt like no one could break me, and at the same time I felt the beauty of vulnerability. She said someone had given it to her. When she brought the perfume in my direction and said "Have it" I couldn't believe. It really only had like 7ml left, but I'll keep those 7ml to make love to the person I will want to marry. And never touch it in any other occasion. This one is special. For the perfect balance and for that beautiful lady, that made my week.

Only the spider is safe in her web ★★★★★

Let’s start by saying that Memoir Woman is easily my most complimented scent out of the hundred others I’ve tried over the years. What’s even more interesting is that I’ve worn Memoir maybe less than ten times so far and it managed to get me an unusual five compliments on a single day, men especially seem to get absolutely crazy over it. I’m not pulling a Jeremy Fragrance card here and conclude this therefore must be a masterpiece, but compliments do speak volumes on how a certain fragrance suits one’s personality and mixes with their body chemistry. I must agree with the general public and admit that Memoir is indeed gorgeous and wearing it is always a confidence boost. It was love at first sniff after all.

The very first spray did vaguely remind me of Poison (I own and know vintage Poison well) as Memoir also possesses a similar purple fruitiness that is both tart and jam-like. Poison is much sweeter and headier with the gargantuan musk-tuberose whereas Memoir steers into a dry spicy direction with a breathy-animalic jasmine instead. They’re not interchangeable by any means but it would be a lie to say that they have absolutely nothing in common. Another fragrance that popped into my mind was Lolita Lempicka, which not only has a fruity tart cherry accord but also the aromatic dark green licorice-anise combo that comes off as absinthe-like much like in Memoir. For a very simplified description, I’d go so far and say that Memoir has both the raspy venomousness of Poison and the benevolent allure of Lolita Lempicka – a perfume that draws closer and closer but never truly reveals its intentions. An embrace that leaves doubt behind, Memoir is truly mysterious in every sense of the word. The note table is another mystery to me because the scent turned out to be much different than I had anticipated. I would say the most prominent notes are plum and cinnamon in the top, tobacco, jasmine and absinthe in the heart and finally a shameless leather-castoreum base.

I also want to point out that Poison and Lolita Lempicka are masterfully structured and have a clear identity. Memoir in comparison is quite messy, and it hits you in the face with lots of loud notes that all scream for attention. Now this could be taken as an insult, yet I think this is the key element of the whole show. It is just as imperfect as a real person would be and is not afraid to show it. Diamonds are forever but we people aren’t and the flaws that makes us human are also the roots that grow into adoration and obsession. Note that messy is not equivalent to a mess. Usually I gravitate towards polished and pristine fragrances that evoke awe with unattainable perfection but in Memoir the unstructure in some strange way gives it a sense of upbeat briskness despite it's gothic scent. Memoir is not the scent of an idealized fantasy figure, it is the scent of a real living person. Also, did I mention this stuff is staggeringly sexy?

Oh YES! Do you love Dior Poison or Cacharel LouLou BUT...

-would like something darker

-more complex

-with more proper animalic tones to it

-a chypre undertone

???

Then you must try this. Wow. It's a perfect cross between a lush ultra dark oriental and an impossibly elegant (yet sexy) chypre. When I say dark, I mean it is DARK. Perhaps the darkest perfume I've ever smelled. It's definitely up there. As pitch black and mysterious as the bottle it is housed in. Complex, gorgeous, sexy as hell. Dark in an vamp ultra femme-fatale sort of way, not goth. You don't have to wear black with this. It's so deliciously dark it doesn't need you to accessorize or be all matchy matchy. It does all the talking by itself. When you feel daring, dangerous, and too sexy for your entire wardrobe-this is what you reach for. Intoxicating.

LadyIva

This is a proper old-skool balsamic-animalic oriental fragrance... think of something like vintage YSL Opium, or Guerlain Samsara to give you an idea of what this smells like. The strongest notes are incense, spices, woods (I see that sandalwood is not listed, but it's definitely there), labdanum and civet. The leather note is not so strong, and to be honest, if it were stronger it would have completely ruined this warm spicy-incensey vibe. I like Memoir very much, but it's very expensive and insufficiently original - the good old Opium is still a far better alternative.

vandaeho

This one is not in my price range, nevertheless I ordered it. Waiting to receive, I felt some days huge guilt and a kind of shame being so unreasonable. Now I have to say - I don’t regret at all. Actually, I’m happy finally bought Memoir. Desirable for a long time since I first tried it. It is soooo luxurious, expensive smell. I remembered childhood, reading “Stories from the 1001 Nights”, dreaming of adventures and exotic travelings. Memoir is my magic carpet to unbearable lightness of being, where are no bills to pay for.

Cortina1981

Being today acompanied with an unknown woman, asking her, what was she wearing??You smell soo good...!She said-Amouage Memoire woman...Enough said, thank you:)

en avion

Totally agree with whoever said "grape incense" in an earlier review. Memoir smells to me of grape flavoured bubblegum (juicy tartness rather than sugary candy), rose, leather, woods and moss. Superb, dark and sticky. I think this is a vampish, "Come Hither if you dare" type of scent. My watch strap still emanates lovely wafts of Memoir since last week despite me spraying a number of other fragrances on my wrist since then - the others all washed off. Very persistent in a good way.

DeeDeeInAmsterdam

I loved this fiercely and recently bought a bottle from Notino (finally could splurge, plus was on sale) and while I admit its glorious, it somehow feels less strong than the sample I had around 3 years ago. Did they mess with this one too? I would think a rich house like Amouge doesn't need to water down its creations for savings...:( Or did my nose suffer such a punch that Im is a bit anosmic to it? Now about those Poison comparisons. Nope. Completely disagree. Nothing like the Old Esprit the Parfum which is my holy grail and I treasure a full bottle of . I can understand how the intensity of Memoir reminds people of Poison but they very different.

bibibling

I know a lot of people are saying vintage Poison but I also say vintage Opium as well. I have an EDT from 2007 (so been through a few reformulations already probably) and today I sprayed that on one hand and Memoir on the other.

Now I just need to say Opium EDT is not that great in the 1st half hour because of the aldehydes, but eventually it mellows out into a warm, creamy, smoky clove and spice potion. With Memoir the cool powdery aldehydes never fully leave. It's more leather and cardamom heavy.

I prefer Opium EDT over the two, (if I gave Opium EDT an 10/10, Memoir would only get a 7.5/10 it feels flatter, less spicy and less nuanced) but if you have no access to an older bottle of Opium, you should definitely give this a try. If you like the aldehyde opening of old-school opium and wish it would stick around longer, you might like this.

A weird comparison but this does feel like some sort of hybrid of Tom Ford Tuscan leather and vintage Opium EDT. Definitely unisex as well. A man would smell amazing in this. Men, if you want a spicy version of Tuscan Leather, try this!

zara0203

Don't get the hype over this one. Very similar to vintage Poison, I can get the mention similarity with SL Arabie.

rola.asad

Super dry and incense-y,,, super intoxicating!!

Unisex, leans more to the masculine side IMHO "or I prefer to smell it on a man", it shares similarities with COCO Chanel, due to the clove, but this is more smokey, with more refined ingredients.

It is dark, smokey, leathery, with a hint of sweetness in the dry-down, and I can also say "green chypre".

100%, not a blind buy.

dessyslava-

This is so lovely, so chic, yet its spiciness makes it very exotic and intriguing. There is nothing boring about Memoir, and it smells just like its name - a memory of "the good old days" when elegance was truly a thing.

Chicago Tony T

This smells like something that was created in 1980 not 2010. The main accords of balsamic, woody, spicy etcc.. made me want to try this but now I see a word that I truly dislike which is chypre. Sure, there's a ton of spices and light smoke but it's also floral and absinth in which the whole scent was built around. Not my cup of tea as it's more of a retro scent.

sidewalks

Smelled this for the first time today. Reminds me of the purple of vintage Dior Poison (late 80's early 90's), and a hint of Serge Lutens Cedre without the cloying part.

Really, it takes the beauty of the two fragrances and it's so well blended into a very wearable fragrance.

Nothing like L'Agent so stop it!

damienthoresson

I think this was one of the last truly Amouage releases for women before they became more quirky and oddball, not that it's a bad thing at all. This is a dry, elegant and truly oriental fragrance with tonnes of incense and dry, dusty spices. It's not a big projector, but you can smell it and that's all that counts really. Romantic and big in a small, understated way. There's also a lovely fresh, dewy rose in there somewhere too.

tessture

This reminds me so much of 80s orientals; ambery plum, clove, soft powdery leather. It’s very lovely but at the same time feels too old fashioned for me. It does share a lot of the jeweled fruit tones I love in the Serge Lutens ambers, and is very rich and formal, not sweetbut it's a classic heavy oriental. I'm not really a heavy oriental girl and the flashbacks to my early days don't make me love it. It's just too much of a been-there, done-that for me. I keep seeing the Mall in 1985.

hollycat

I get a dark syrupy over ripe plums. Almost like stewed prunes. The color is purple. Almost feels along the lines of original poison due to the plummyness I get from it. A bit sugary and thick. It could almost pass as an 80s perfume to my nose...that's the feel it gives me. Like it should be worn with big hair and shoulder pads.

Makes a suitable nighttime winter fragrance.

Princess_dana

I wanted a gothy perfume and this was recommended to me in the forums by many fragranticans. It has a nice incense which is something I love in a perfume. It's dark, mysterious, and has a vintage kind of smell. I detect some jasmine, rose, woods, and musk. But it's mostly incense for the most part. It's Great perfume that became one of my favorite scents. You can visit my wardrobe and see that I placed it on the favorite shelf.
Compliment getter for sure. I would repurchase.

Elsi

I have just tried this for the first time and I was taken back to the 90's....@evelynave it also reminds me of Joop! Homme. The scent continues to evolve as I write this review, but I can confidently say that it would suit men as well as women.

BlackCatDiamond

I smell spicy smoky incense, dark leather, and dark syrupy fruits, with threads of jasmine and rose twining through it like jeweled vines. Like a scent dream from a dark and dangerous Faerie Land. Gorgeous and intoxicating!

elena_irimia2003

Dark, gothic, vampiric. Only for dark queens! Became my favourite from the first spray.

iobhai

You're 23 years old and you're visiting your girlfriend's apartment. It's the middle of a sunny day, but her windows are covered with black-out curtains, darkening the room. She's burning some sticky incense on her dresser near a vase of dying roses that you had gotten her a few weeks ago. She's wearing Pomegranate Burt's Bees Lip Balm, and you can taste it as you share a sweet clove cigar together and watch these bright lines of light escape through her curtains and pass through the smoke to dance on her ceiling. She lays her head on your chest while you slowly run your fingers through her vanilla hair. Memoir Woman by Amouage.

Lizthegirl

I have a twelve fragrance sampler set from Amouage and I'm finding most of them to be disappointing so far unfortunately. This was not an exception, Despite garnering a compliment from my husband...this perfume wore me, I didn't wear it. Starts off with a thick fruity blast similar to grape Kool Aid which was relatively pleasant... and then quickly a dusty, dry smoke similar to stale cigarettes shows up and the fruity/cigarette accords clashed with each other for a good hour or so. I quit smoking two years ago and one of the reasons was to NOT smell like that anymore...

Leather is not my favorite accord and it really dominates this scent, or maybe it just seems that way when a note shows up that you don't like. No point did I really feel comfortable or sexy in it, maybe about 20% of me thought it was alright, if you know what I mean. Once it dried down it became more wearable, vaguely fruity and the dustiness faded away. I can see the intrigue and can see this working well on the right skin chemistry, Amouage has exceptionally well crafted fragrances and the quality is apparent but this one didn't evoke any thing that I want to feel when I'm wearing a fragrance.

ouroboros88

Oh my lord, this bowled me over. I was worried the labdanum would be a turn-off (it usually ruins perfumes for me), but this is so well blended that it makes me actually LIKE the labdanum note! Other than that, I get big white flowers mixed with incense. I like incense, but incense frags tend to disappoint me by smelling too dry, more like smoke and less like the resins. This is NOT dry -- "sticky" is a good word.

As for how it develops: an hour into the dry-down, it's mostly sweet incense and indolic white flowers. Two hours in, the fruity quality becomes very pronounced -- the syrupy, plummy quality that other reviewers mentioned. Eleven hours after applying, I could still smell musk and floral sweetness.

My husband -- who is not a fume-head but has been gamely along for the ride -- said, "This was the second Amouage fragrance that was so great it got through my ignorance and made me appreciate perfume as a high art." (The first was Bracken, which he loved so much that he instantly agreed it was an acceptable extravagant purchase.)

It takes a seriously skilled nose to mix notes so that none of them stand out and advertise themselves, but instead they all work together to create something entirely NEW. That kind of nose is like the rare author whose writing you can sink into without ever noticing the apparatus or the mechanics of the text itself.

Cauda Pavonis

Sweet, floral, incense chypre. Whew! There's quite a lot going on here. Plummy and syrupy. There's a strange, almost sticky, candied jasmine (the jasmine is *huge* in the opening). I'm guessing the medicinal note is the wormwood. Dense, heady, and complex. Reminds me of Dior Poison (plus wormwood) except that it doesn't take itself as seriously. Sexy and dramatic but upbeat.

Nariel Meredith

Intoxicated.

Amouage's Memoir possesses a feather-like quality, a tender yet sophisticated combination of cardamon, wormwood and incense. The smokiness is more on the well-blended, consistent side rather than progression of various notes through time. She leaves an impression of sweet and remote sorrow, gradually fading into darkness.

Imagery: In the dim lit room of her Mind Palace, she sat by the stained glass window in absolute serene silence, unconcerned with her chipped vinyl manicure, and her died thin cigar. After an unidentifiable moment she sighed, and started burning pages of an unwritten memoir.

Surprising longitivtiy with decent, but not overwhelming sillage, in my opinion the pricy nature is perhaps justified. The general atmosphere reminds me a gentler, feminine version of Serge Lutens' Cannibale.

9/10. A dark and ambient elegy that is thinly veiled as a memoir.

A_Sky_of_Honey

Memoir Woman is Miss Havisham if she decided to have a date night.

I feel the need to warn others after sampling this perfume.

It is a STRONG, cloying old lady scent. Nothing magical or mysterious here, as the description I had read implied. Sample at your own risk, and never blind buy.

I used to work fundraiser events that attracted a much older crowd. This reminds me of the women in their 80's who would show up all dressed up, with way too many sprays of their favorite perfume on. This fragrance has a certain "sour" old person note in it.

If you don't want to smell like an old woman, I would really avoid this scent. I've been trying to scrub it off my wrist.

risarii

Very unique and very very nice!
I think Memoir is the perfect name for this, somehow, and the bottle is gorgeous.
The fragrance itself is very thick-smelling and so well blended you don't really notice individual notes so much. I've never smelled a perfume so well blended!

Sillage is nice and it almost has a disappear-reappear quality to it like many Arabian attars have. It's a very mysterious smelling perfume so this quality works well.

Honestly, I'd say this is quite unisex but on a woman, it calls to mind femme fatales from the old film noirs like Ava Gardner. Seductive, mysterious.

iabose

Please don't relay on reviewers. I strongly recommend to smell it before you buy.
I blind bought it for my wife and unfortunately was a big fail .

ayh210

Opens up warm and smoky but with a hint of sweetness until it just reads as a sweet tangerine. I eventually smell softly sweet white flowers and jasmine, but honeyed and a bit too sweet before it becomes a balsamic floral. Thankfully the sweetness wears off a bit and it becomes a modern chypre, elegant and refined. 6 hours later, it settles into a mellow rose leathery incense clove mixture that I can't quite get enough of.

For some reason my SO doesn't like it at all but i find it intoxicating and can't stop smelling it.

8/10

Tigerlillian

Deliciously smoky incense, mostly labdanum and cardamom to open. Sweet spices, dark with a touch of resin and amber -- mulled cloves with a slightly boozy sour edge that reminds me of saffron. Perhaps a sharp iteration of styrax.

I detect only subtle leather, perhaps like a warm, musky animal pelt as Memoir fuses with my skin.

Warm, sensual flowers in the background, a touch rosey, a little narcotic like jasmine, and incredibly well blended into the dry earthy base.

Memoir is sexy and dark, sultry yet not overtly loud. "I am woman; hear me sizzle..."

Hi guys. Can anyone tell me if the vintage version without magnet in lid is worth paying extra for?
I've found a pre-re-formulated bottle. It's around $50 more than a standard bottle. Please PM me if you can answer. Thanks in advance!

tiababy

I find that many amouages have a cheap, synthetic quality to them and this is no exception. It does remind me of L'agent except you can find L'agent for under $30 and it smells much more expensive. If you like arabian perfumes, save your money on amouage and try the countless cheaper arabian attars out there!

IDreamPurple

Mohd93, I completely agree with you. I am a huge fan of L'agent, and there's only a fleeting similarity in the initial spritz, and then it's gone although both are clearly in the darker realms of fragrances. Envelops one in a cloud of warm spice and smoke, and manages to do this in a way even one as me who has a problem with too much spices can appreciate. The cardamom in the notes was almost enough for me to not get a sample, but luckily it is blended so well in with the rest that I don't smell it.

Unisex, great quality, lasting power is ridiculous and the strength of the scent could be weaponized, one spritz from a tester is more than enough to last a whole day so a full bottle would last me a lifetime.

Mohd93

My favorite Amouage scent so far which I'm planning on buying as soon as I can.

To me, it's a beautiful scent from start to finish. But am I the only one who doesn't find this similar to L'agent? To me, L'agent is more earthy, and drier, not sweet at all. But Memoir has a slight sweetness (not edible), like..grape incense? It's very slight but it's beautiful.

It's very hard to describe this scent. I definitely smell Cloves and Incense the most, they're beautiful together. I detect a lot of spices and balsamic notes in the background. It's a beautiful, dark scent, and quite unisex.

Definitely my next purchase.

Mooniq

1 tiny spray on my hand - and it explodes into my face - oh dear!
But after 20 minutes Memoir has calmed down and I start to smell a great insence note mixed with leather, clove, cardamom and labdanum. Very unisex to me, I must say. A great scent for cooler weather - with the spicy notes, leather and clove - in hot weather I think this will be cloying.

JMSG

Immediately I got the "dark fantasy fruit" that a reviewer noted below, and for hours it stained whatever other notes might have been present. The overall complexity and depth of the scent were immediately apparent, but to my nose, the fruit overtook all.

However: it made a positive impression on several bystanders, both male and female. The sillage and longevity are far-reaching in both space and time. And it did change over its many hours, with the drydown emerging far less fruity and more woody/musky.

Amouage Memoir packs a Dita von Teese kind of wallop-- juicy, carnal glamour. Very Black Swan. Its obverse is Boucheron, a blonde Valkyrie of a scent, almost disdainful of sexual love.

sarahjbond

I have been a fan of other Amouage perfumes for a while but only just tried Memoir. It's magnificent.

It conjures up visions of elegant women in 1950s Paris in immaculate evening gowns with long black gloves being driven down the Champs Elysees for secret assignations with mysterious men.... It shouts danger and mystery whilst tempting its followers down to the underworld. It@s a Cocteau film in a bottle..

on the noze

I think the main players in Memoir are civet (although not listed as a note) and smoke. I don't get the leather. (Which I'm glad about)
Intense and unique. I wish I bought this instead of Lyric woman.

Performance is BEAST and that's 2 smalls sprays from a 2ml sample.
Amouage are renowned for their 'heavy delivery' spray nozzles,

I'd say, 'strictly one' spray!

Love Amouage quality! LOVE Memoir!
* edit, lasted 20 hours PLUS on my skin. Sprayed it at night, smelt great all day, right up to the 24 hour mark. It even overpowered other perfumes I applied on the following day!
Yes performance is remarkably amazing
This is one of the longest lasting Amouage in the 'woman' range.

Ticks all my boxes.

Vlud

Memoir woman opens up with a warm infusion of spices that dry down into a sweet, dark and complex incense accord. This is a dark and daring fragrance for a confident woman.

Great performance and the quality of the ingredients is excellent.

LadyRuby

I just started exloring the world of Amouage, as i am trying to uprage my fragrance to a niche one.
Bought samplers 6 of them, planning to go in for more, since the brand is absolutely gorgeous!

Memoir was the first I tried out out of the bunch. It is a warm womanly scent that makes me having such a demure mood. I am in love with it.
It starts of sweet, and quite wintery scent, that reminds me of (don't bash me for this but..) a Christmas fare in my hometown. It smells like plums, punch and warmth. I know there is no plum note in the perfume, i presumed it was the honeyflowers and the cinnamon blending with my skin that gave the impression...
The fragrance settles down to a sweet and delicious incense with a swirling background of other notes on my skin after two hours.
The "pluminess' returns every once in a while, and it wrapes me up in a fuzzy blanket of scent.

What i love the most is, it shows different sides to it the closer your nose egts to the skin. Further away it is a richer and more mature version of Hypnotic poison by Dior, but as you get closer it unforld into swinrling notes of flowery notes sweetness and spices.
It is truly intoxicating, and it lasts. I got 7-9 hours out of it without retouch and any extreme changes to the scent itself.
Gorgeous, I'll be getting it for chirstmas this year ;)

evelynave

Even now, after several years of smelling them, I'm often slow to roll around to the love side with Amouage fragrances. Almost without exception, I first smell them and think, What's the big deal? Eventually, I tend to fall hard, wondering what *wasn't* the big deal and how I could have possibly missed it for so long.

Memoir is one of my favorites, and true to form I sat with it for a year before I picked up the small atomizer I'd been given and was suddenly blown away. It's rich but mellow, possibly more caramelized than some would like, sitting firmly, to me, in an androgynous zone that makes it perfect for anyone who likes an emphatic scent and probably a poor choice for anyone who likes a declarative side of the fence.

Maybe I'm alone in this but it reminds me a lot of Joop Homme - as Joop Homme used to be or could have been, without the plastic effrontery of that 1990's atomic fragrance. I often get compliments when I wear this scent; not just "you smell good" but "what is that, where did you get it, how can I get it," etc.

Soofiya

if I wanted to blindbuy an amouage for myself, memoir was my last choice.I'm not into chypers, notes list is unfamiliar and kind of frightening for me and I've heard lots of comments like:memoir is too heavy and arabic,it's bitter and manly and whatsoever from my friends.I even didn't like to try it and I have to thank my friend that sent me a sample of it among others
Before talking about my experience with memoir I have to give you some information about my taste in perfumes:
I HATE clove.I HATE labdanum.I dislike incense when it's dominant. I like suede and leather when it appears soft, warm and clean but I hate it when it's heavy or dirty.I don't know how wormwood smells but I usually dislike anything categorized as "herbs, greens and fougere".I usually don't like cardamom and pink pepper and more important than all of these:I can't tolerate animalic notes when I can actually smell them.there are some exceptions of perfumes with civet or castareum in them that I like but I had a terrible experience of this note in an other amouage perfume (amouage fate which was a blindbuy, it has couple of my favorite notes but smells awful and dirty on me.It was followed by plenty of embarrassing negative comments from whoever smelled it on me).
I'm not good at describing chypres because I'm new to lots of these notes.Trying amouage memoir was one of biggest surprises in my perfume-sampling life.IT WAS A LIKE AT FIRST SNIFF FOR ME!!
it smells very different from my usual faves and it deeply reminds me men cologne's.maybe because I'm used to experience most of these notes in my daddy's and sometimes hubby's wardrobe not in mine.
it's dark.I can get what other comments mean by dominant green note, yes but it's very dark green, almost blackish,so don't think of something vegagative and herbal.it's very spicy but don't think of dry powdery pepper that usually gives me a sorethroat.spices are very well blended hear.all of them,so memoir doesn't smell like kitchen's cabinet.spices are melted in it's balsamic base so there is no irritaiting dryness.it's balmy and oh so deliciously spicy.it doesnt make me think of listed spices.it smells like cinnamon and black pepper to my nose and these are my favorites.call me crazy but I feel something like a dark fruit dipped in honey here, something like plum in poison or femme
rochas or rihanna rouge.this invisible fruity thing adds slightest hint of sweetness and lush fruity undertone which balances other note's bitter dryness
florals aren't the main player here but I can feel they're there, and I agree with below review.it somehow reminds coco chanel but I like memoir better.
leather is detectable on me after first hour but this smokey leather doesn't smell like burnt tyre.leather is warm and envloping like human skin.I can't tell about different phases and changes of notes.not yet since it's deep and complex and it needs several wearings to conclude, for now I can just say it opens with a rich fruity-spicy-ambery scent(though there's no fruit or amber in it)and has a warm, deep and sensual woody-leathery-musky base which is drier and darker but also has a softness.most of the notes which I was afraid of them didn't stand out on me.I could feel incense but I don't dislike it here.I also think that I can find traces of castareum but it's not the animalic stink bomb which I was scared of.I can't call it a clean scent but it's not dirty either.what lasts after couple of hours on me is a soft scent of leather, a smokey and dark but also a good quality and expensive one and something warm and powdery
memoir is so well blended and balanced that nothing seems too much in it.
longevity is great and sillage is crazy speacially in first hours.although I find it a seductive femme fetal scent,it's also wearable for men
I have to try it more and after my sample ends I'm gonna decide to buy a bottle of it or not.my biggest concern is about costareum and I don't want to repeat my bad experience with amouage fate.my skin can't get along with that note and it smells really bad on me.I hope this note doesn't show itself on my skin when I fullwear it.if costareum doesn't bother me I can say I looove it and am gonna save to buy a bottle
❤️❤️❤️❤️

Duskfall

What a striking scent!

I obtained a generous sample of Memoir Woman for a special occasion and I must say it is the perfect companion for a long black evening gown.

Memoir is a seamlessly blended dark and green chypre with a very prominent leather note. I feel like a mysterious witch when I wear it. I really don't get the similarities with L'Agent, which is a fabulous scent too, but Memoir is greener, deeper and more imposing. It reminds me of Magie Noire (the way it was back in the 80's); not necessarily similar per se, but they give out a same kind of vibe. Memoir might not be a sexy scent in the modern sense. It's not girly, flirty, sugar sweet or cuddly. Instead, Memoir seduces with power and danger! It will attract fearless confident men (who can also wear it). ;D

The performance is top-notch, as can be expected.

EDIT: Wearing it again and it's so gorgeous! I'm seriously considering of investing in a full bottle at some point (even though the price is ridiculous and well beyond what I consider reasonable for a perfume). Addictive stuff.

Angelica 000

I'm using a sample sent by a close friend...boy, does she know my taste! This is enervating, complex, but not pretentious, deep green & deliciously spicy.
The wormwood permeates all layers, but this is an advantage rather than a take over. I won't go note for note, others have covered that very well, suffice to say this is an intriguing & alluring fragrance, with very good staying power. Yes, I'm saving up...
EDIT. The wait is over, my FB arrived this afternoon & I am cocooned in its sexy perfection. This is a big love, right up there with Oud Divin & Dior Addict. Not at all similar, just examples of my idea of perfection.Worth every cent. :)

Fluffyandpuffy

Well the opening was nice but then became very smokey, I mean just alot of smoke. I am reminded of being out all night at a Bon fire party and my clothes smelled of wood smoke.

margaritatee

hmm. not really ... i enjoyed reading the reviews here, and thought i might love Memoir, but the sample kicks in with such a sharp load of pepper and honey flowers mixed with bitter incense, that, woah,i almost wanted to scrub it. ... ive had trouble with amouage openings before though, and know they can lead onto wonderful alternate universes, so ... i waited. hmm.. it all softens of course and sweet, dusty leather emerges, but ... i still wasnt really happy wearing it. it reminds me a wee bit of Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme circa 1998, citrusy pepper and smoke ... which i loved on a glamorous man at that time but ... yeah, i guess ive moved on. this one is just not for me.

youngyong

I adore Memoir ... this is intriguingly sexy! I adore spices, wood, smoke, leathery, this ticks all the boxes. The package is divine, and the fragrance itself is masterpiece...after this, I got introduced to other incredible fragrance from Amouage. Can I say - I feel like paying a visit to Muscat because of Amouage!

IndigoEye

I never intended to test any Amouage as the price is so high. I know that perfume is an art form for some, but mainly I just want to smell good. However, I was sent a sample of this and was absolutely stunned by the quality. This was rich, big and beautiful as I imagine perfumes used to be when I hear people lamenting pre-1990s formulae (which is basically when my nose met perfume).

This is complex, with the coca cola aldehydes that work as they do in Bois des Iles, along with soft leather, florals and spices. There are cooler notes - incense I can identify, the wormwood I could not have named - that add a green note and a sense of space that stop this becoming too dense an oriental.

The sillage is lovely - expansive but not overwhelming - and the longevity and quality are fantastic. I love this but it didn't make my heart skip a beat, so it is still won't be added to my collection. But if the notes look good to you and you need something big, dark and a little fragile, I strongly recommend this one.

SumoTigerCat

No, not Poison, nor L'Agent. Not at all. Well, I guess if you stretch your imagination, there is some minor similarity, but not much.

I have and love Poison. Had and liked L'Agent. This is a whole different ballgame. Memoir, to me, is in a class of its own, and it is the only Amouage that I've seriously fallen for.

This must smell a bit different on everyone. On me (non-magnetic, snap on cap bottle) I get little leather. The leather is black and smooth and supple. There is a distinct sweetness, some fantasy dark fruit. A discrete touch of incense, and just the right amount of cloves. Perfectly arranged fragrance, I think.

Memoir has none of the harsh smokiness of L'Agent. Nor any of the wonderful Tuberose of Poison.

This is a stand by itself fragrance, one of my top favorites. Lingers forever on me.

Solar Girl

So many beautiful comments and I sincerely apologise for writing a bad one, but we need them both, this is why this page is here.

Memoir was my first and only scrubber. I can take almost anything on my hand and patiently wait till it develops and shows other/better sides, but this one didn't make it. And I tried it again and the same happened.

People say dark and mysterious... I had vintage Posion that this perfume is compared to but to me they have absolutely nothing in common. Poison is (was) romantic and seductive, and Memoir is scary smell of vampires and witches and creatures from the dark side.

When I smell it all I see is Transilvania, night, grof Drakula's castle surrounded by swamps and cemetery, and the smell inside the castle, the humidity, mold, the dead and vampires.. that is how Memoir smells to me.

Not for a blind buy.

małgorzata.kupiec

COCO Chanel EDP meets bulgarian rose. The best of all Amouages I tried so far, sweet smooth, elegant and not overwhelming. Drydown similar to Vanille Inscence by Atelir Cologne. Good stuff, but bit pricy.

najgirl

I am falling in love with this fragrance but it wasn't love at first sniff - this is one that had to grow on me. It is a dark, sweet, mysterious and very bitter scent. It's spicy, floral, musky... I do detect hints of leather but not a soft creamy suede-like leather (just the tinge of a leather-like tobacco note). The incense in this is unusual in that there isn't much smoke (instead it's bitter and dry), quite different from what I expected. I'm not a huge fan of smoky incense, so this is a great thing. I love Amouage, and Memoir is one of my favorites.

Strange_Alchemy

This is SEXY.

There is much sweetness here, but this is no celebrity sugar bomb. It's chewy sweet tobacco and leather and flowers that dry down to mildly masculine (to my nose) incense. As ever for Amouage, beautifully blended.

Sillage is moderate (2 sprays of the EDP), but it lasts all day, and long into the night while getting better and better.

I love it for myself, but long to smell it on a man.

*****
wow wow wow - a stunning perfume and imo the best from amouage. bold and elegant, almost rough in its intense sensuality - black leather, intoxicating incense, warm spices, carnivorous flowers, all blended together perfectly. makes me feel dark and decadent, strong, sexual. i don't think this is a very feminine perfume, quite the contrary it leans unisex. there's both class and austerity to it, but its darkness is pervasive and its sexuality of the controversial kind. what's even more surprising is how nostalgic it gets at times, almost gloomy. this is a creature of the night, longing for its lost love and innocence, filling up with darkness and exploring the shadows.

mylancome

It does has the Dior Poison style. Poison is exotic flowers, vanilla and sandalwood, Memoir is leathery wood. Both has the similar dark sensuality. Meanwhile, Memoir can be wear by men.

A perfume for business occasion and royal meetings.

Farouhaa

Amazing perfume and nothing compares. Major compliments when I wear this!

هذا جميل جدا!!!

I prefer Amouage feminines and masculines.
This fragrance is so feminine
.. longevity good!!
dark beautiful bottle..
it has Fantastic Incense note.

For some reason I dont get very much incense on my skin. I get cherry jam and black tea smell with a bit of rubber. It dries down to a pleasant creamy rose and oud.

Its a little old fashioned (in a good way). To be fair, I believe that it may develop much better in warm weather. Its very cold and snowy where I am today.

swade

I thought I would really like this at first but after awhile, it started to remind me of those home perms my Mom would give me as a kid - specifically the conditioner you use after taking out the curlers. I want to try it again though and I'll update my review if my impression changes.

Update: Tried it again and really tried to like it but in the end... get out the curlers, we're getting a perm!

Old Herbaceous

Wow!! This is not my usual type of fragrance, as I normally gravitate toward green florals, but I was excited to try it from a lovely gift coffret of six mini Amouage perfumes. Memoir is amazing. Many reviewers have said it reminds them of the original Poison. I used to wear Poison in the 1980s and this is much, much better. I do understand that impression, though, but to me Poison was very plummy and I smell no fruit in Memoir other than the spicy orange in the opening.

As soon as I dabbed Memoir on my wrist, I got a strong whiff of cardamom and orange, with a herbal undercurrent from the wormwood, aka artemisia. The small dabs on my wrists left a slight sheen of oil, showing a high concentration of perfume essence. A little goes a long way! This would be easy to overdo, which would be a shame as its powerhouse sillage could overwhelm an appreciation of its nuances.

The orange vanishes very early but the cardamom lingers. Next come the incense and clove, mostly incense on my skin, freshened up by the floral notes. I can't distinguish most of those, other than jasmine, but the combination is gorgeous. The incense is the strongest note on me at this stage, followed by the combination of jasmine and clove. A rose peeks out once in a while but on me, it comes and goes.

I am writing this as it dries down; it is becoming more woodsy but the incense is still dominant, which I am enjoying. The wood notes have a pleasantly smoky quality which suits fall and winter weather. The longer this dries down, the more the styrax emerges, with balsamic, resinous tones of spices, smoke, incense and just a touch of leather. The balsamic aspect is only slightly sweet, not cloying at all.

I am so under-dressed for Memoir right now! Wearing it, I feel as if I should have just come from a beauty salon with nails and hair done, and about to put on a fabulous dress and good jewelry for an expensive dinner out or elegant society party.

This is a very high-quality perfume. Not sure it's worth paying the usual high price for a large bottle but this could easily become the signature scent for the right person, so maybe it would be money well spent.

Amouage Memoir Woman is the darkest and most regal perfume I've ever had the the pleasure of smelling. This could have been worn by a queen during a very dark period in time. The words that come to mind are gothic, baroque, and medieval. It smells of heavy leather, absinthe/wormwood, incense and some other dark magic that sends you into an ominous black storm cloud of fragrance. It will engulf you. One spray will send the dark magic of this perfume around a room. Everyone will smell you and no one will have a clue what you are wearing. It lasts all day. A character you may imagine wearing this would be Maleficent. An occasion to wear this may be during a seance. Just kidding, I love this dark beauty and I wear this any day of the week. Wear it cautiously as it works in mysterious ways.

lapioggianelpineto1977

I tried memoir because I love L'Agent and got curious by the fact that memoir is the only perfume listed in the reminds me of list for l'agent...well, besides the fact that they don't smell similar at all, only a slight resemblance at the very end of memoir's drydown...memoir is, compared to l'agent, a true masterpiece...it is like comparing the average art of an experienced decently talented, but still not complete artist to the art of Caravaggio, Bernini, Raffaello..... I am in love

edlih

I completely agree with MARCO CHAU, vintage poison is my signature, at the moment I wear memoir, it has nothing to do with poison.. I like memoir but I love vintage poison quit a bit more, and there is nothing in memoir that makes me think of poison.
For Amouage (at least today,, because I have noticed that sometimes the same perfumes gives me on some days a different impression) I prefer Lyric and Honour and than Memoir.
But for me none beats my vintage Poison.

mrsg34

This is the most beautiful, enchanting fragrance I have ever had the pleasure to smell! It has knocked my beloved Shalimar parfum initial off the signature spot! A lot of perfumes I tend to find the opening harsh until they settle but this one is beautiful from start to finish.I find this a beautiful floral, smoky incense just mesmorising.

deadidol

Memoir Man’s one of my favorites from the line, and probably sits somewhere in my top ten overall (depending on what day you catch me on). As with many Amouage scents, the Male / Female designation is nonsense and either can be worn by either gender without the world coming to an end. Memoir Woman resembles the male analog to a degree, but it cheers things up (not by much) and brings in a touch of sweetness. It’s as mercurial as Memoir Man, but it starts with great jasmine bouquet and some candied notes and places them over the masculine’s green wormwood-incense accord. The result is a dark, dense, semi-sweet floral that maintains all the sulky fun of the male counterpart. It does start to smell like Dior’s Poison after a while, but that’s a good thing in my book. This would lend itself well to modern masculine tastes as it has a good amount of sweetness to it, and it might be a viable alternative for those who find Memoir Man to be too aromatic. I think it’s great; totally over-the-top with great depth and drama.

stephgee

The most beautiful perfume I ever tried. Deep, mysterious and ethereal. Lovely. I don't think I'll ever get fed up with it.

juji

This is the first time trying Memoir, from a large sample sent to me by the lovely Shimmersmom! Honestly I do see the comparison to Poison but this is far smokier and darker. Cloves and sweet incense, the cardamom and richness are beautiful. I'm waiting for the Drydown to decide fully how much I love this. Quite frankly, most perfumes lately have an acrid, screechy, "bad men's cologne" vibe with my chemistry while drying down but so far, none of that is here. I almost love it but am reserving the final decision for later. Just beautiful so far!

Germany

I really like memoir , but after wearing it for a few days I decided not to buy it. My only Amougae will be Jubilation, which to me remains the winner of this house.

Memoir is a beautiful, dark , big party scent to me. It's big, it's frutiy , it's vermented ,leathery smokey , cinnamon and spice ,,,, Something I would be happy to own if given to me , but not to run out and pay 300 plus dollar for something I would only wear to dinners and functions. ,,,and then , let's be honest , most people would just think Iam wearing Poison anyways , so I amd tempted to maybe repurchase poison, my so loved party perfume from the late 80 s. ,,,,,, but do I really want to smell like poison again ? Not really ,,,been there done that , i will move on and leave the 80 s memories to were they belong , and with them MEMOIR

pravda48

I tried a sample of this (without looking at the notes) and my initial thoughts went like this:

"Spiced apple peels, very smooth, dark incense. (45min later) Touches of green, kind of warm/cool spice profile behind all the sort of mulled cider incense vibe."

I can only guess the spiced apple impression is from thick, quality rose essence and pink pepper/cardamom/clove on me. It's delightful, it's NOTHING like Poison on me (which I find choking plum/incense, with a very heavy 'purpleness' that feels super synthetic). It does share a smokiness boosted by bright pink pepper and background spice/resins with L'agent (which I have/love). This one has more brightness and depth and a fruitiness that are lacking in L'agent. The opening of this one's gorgeous at once while L'agent's kind of sharp and I have to wait for her to get the temper tantrum out of her system before getting close.

10/10, beautiful if you like feminine, fruity sweet incense. Highly recommended.

AveParfum

Others have said it already--it smells VERY much like Dior's original Poison. That's a good thing, as Poison is a fantastic perfume, and so is Memoir Woman.

It starts out dark, so dark! I just think of the color black when I first smell this. After it mellows out on the skin, it takes on a woody incense profile with nuances of honey and clove cigarettes with some kind of orchard fruit--mulled plum and peach? And the perfume is not pitch black after some time, but perhaps black mixed with amber and fine gold sparkles.

I see comparisons to L'Agent, but I personally don't see much relation other than they are both dark and spicy. Memoir clearly has fruit, and L'Agent does not at all. I find L'Agent to be closer to the new Opium.

This version is quite beautiful, very intense and gothic. I seriously hope I get the pleasure of smelling the older formula someday, as I would not doubt that it is even better.

susana75

gorgeous perfume, reminds me of Dior poison 80s version , its not for every woman its for attractive sexy posh lady think Monica Bellucci, love it.

mirrorghost

oh wow..i *love* this. at first i am having trouble picking out notes but this is definitely a leathery-floral-incense, with the mandarin orange staying present for awhile. after being on my skin for a bit, i get some peppery smokiness as well. i think i also get the cardamom and some greenery from the wormwood. after awhile this is mostly incense, spices and florals. it's beautiful and so enveloping. it reminds me of dark rain drenched streets in a city at night. at least, that's when i'd be most inclined to wear this for whatever reason.

Tiger84

The opening is very Poison like on me as well. Like the original Poison unchained, mixed with some weird dirt (the way your hands smell after spending some time on the public transport). Poison is the good part, the underground handrail smell is the bad part. But the bad part is soon gone, and the good part is mixed with smoke and absinth which gets more and more beautiful as it unfolds.

christianne1

There are many ways that a perfume can remind someone of another. Fragrance is complex and the way it works on the brain even more so.

It doesn't mean one smells just like something else. For me, Memoir reminds me of Poison in how the original Poison made me FEEL (when it was newly released in 1985). It was larger than life. It was HUGE, big extravagant perfume and it gave me a certain feeling that can't be explained. Memoir gives me the same feeling. It is almost impossible to explain, only something that can be felt.

I wish people would allow others to experience scent in their own way. And if something reminds them of something else, it doesn't mean it is impossible and has no basis or that they smelled a fake. You may not be reminded of another but that doesn't mean someone else can't be. There is usually a reason why several people say that a perfume reminds them of something else. Because it does. For whatever reason.

fuggerone

great balmy wood very easily wearable by men!
unisex really!

lovescents999

I recently became a proud owner of this amazing scent. It was an instant love! When I wear it, I imagine myself sitting under a gorgeous tree, during the most beautiful time of Fall, leaves falling around me smelling so deep and intoxicating while I'm drinking cognac and eating dates. Loooove it!

nanomira

It is unusual, warm, smoky, soapy and very woody. In fact, it is too woody for my taste. I can hardly imagine wearing this perfume every day. There is also something fruity, interestingly enough, given that the only fruit is mandarin orange. The flowers combined with woody notes make this perfume soapy, like a wardrobe of an old lady. :-)

darksome

Mix:
- heavy, dark leather,
- incense,
- ripe dark plums (from vintage EDP Dior Poison),
- warm nutty notes and some spicy cloves.

Add:
- excellent longevity,
- sillage
- and an expensive, deep, but kind, generous and warm attitude.

Voila. I will never forget you, Memoir Woman.

P.S. if you are a lover of scents like that, try maybe Tubereuse 3 Animale from Histoires de Parfums. It's similar heavy and deep, but way less spicy.

hanson26

Love this, but I agree with other reviewers that there is nothing chypre about this. It's all spicy, balmy, oriental goodness. I'm finding that I really like the combination of leather and incense. The butteriness of the leather tempers the dryness of incense very nicely. I'm not getting the comparisons to Poison but I do get the comparison to L'agent, they are very similar actually. Not similar enough that if you have one, you have no reason to get the other, but close enough that my $30 bottle of L'agent is enough to hold me over for now. :-)

drugstore classics

Surprisingly addictive.... possibly even worth the price tag.

I did not love Memoir immediately, but on a certain rainy spring day it came fully into it's own! Memoir also has Good sillage and longevity, a quality I've come to see as rare.

Fans of Habanita and Tabu can consider this one Worth a try!

Femme en Blanc

Like a cross between Jean Desprez' Bal a Versailles and Cacharel's Lou Lou. This is a femme fatale lady in a slinky black dress smoking a cigarette in a bottle.

Vahagn

Interesting incident happened with me ...I went to the perfume shop for gifts for the lovely ladies . I was in a hurry ! And when I was painfully thinking what to buy, suddenly appeared at the corner Amouage. I saw a black bottle Memoir Amouage. " Oh , let me try Memoir for MEN !!!, they say it is "sad", interesting perfume .. " I thought.
I smelled from bottle. What mysterious perfume )))) I sprayed on the wristes and 2 small zilch on clothing. Mmmm ... Very rich perfume !
And when I went out into the street , after 15-20 minutes I feel that some fruity and honey, smoky flavor strangles me. It simply pursues me . How can I to get rid of this fragrance on the street , how to wash away .. ? But somehow it seems more feminine ? ? ! Oh my God, I suddenly remembered that with hurry took thick and short black bottle-it is a Women's Memoir!!!! Horror ... !! And all the time on the street and in the church I was tormenting and at the same time laughing imagining my strange image by side in honey- plum harsh perfume )))) ) Yes ..this perfume is rich, with higher quality, but would not buy this for my girlfriend, even my mother. For me the Memoir Woman Amouage associated with artsy lady , dressed in gold, in black clothes with bright makeup . That's it ... And now you can beat me slippers ))))

christianne1

Not since the mid 80s when I first tried Dior Poison has a perfume felt so large and all consuming. I still remember the first time I put on Poison and I will also remember the first time I put on Memoir. I literally felt like I had been put in a time machine and transported back to 1985. This fragrance is MASSIVE and MEMORABLE.

Like most of you, I sample and purchase perfume on a regular basis. I try new ones daily. Sometime multiple times a day. I like the expensive stuff so I am used to quality and potency. But Amouage is on a whole 'nother scale and living in its own galaxy. Usually I am offended by prices grazing the $300 mark and beyond but this is one time I get it. Amouage is packing a serious punch in their fragrances. They are dense, rich and GRAND. One spray will last many hours and would clear out a room for an hour. Amouage means business that is for certain. I see the comparisons to Cedre but there is no comparison to me. There is a vague similarity because of shared notes but it is like comparing a pine tree to a Sequoia. Cedre would tremble in Memoir's presence.

I am captivated by Memoir but something feels wrong for me personally. I am fascinated by it but I think I would feel like I needed to doll myself up or something to pull this off. You know, get my eyebrows waxed or something. This is BIG GLAMOUR - industrial sized - and I feel almost powerless in its presence. I feel the need lower my head and bow down and curtsy to Memoir. She is royalty. But I am far too meek for this much presence.

AUNZBOX

The opening for this perfume remind me of Dior Poison.

It is good fragrance, but compare with the price. I prefer Poison Dior.

Michelina

This one doesn’t simply waft, it oozes through the air around you. I’d pour this on my pancakes.

Potent, but not overbearing, Memoir Woman intimates a strong sense-of-self: powerful and patient, a languid lady who knows exactly what she wants - but what’s the rush? It’s sultry, dark, and somehow coolly intelligent, potentially intimidating, but not at all uninviting. There’s a soft heart to it, a taste of sweetness (quite possibly the styrax), and a rather persuasive come-worship-at-my-temple breath of incense.

Lasts all day with the perfect amount of reach; suddenly, Madame, you’ve sprouted tentacles, and the fish they still come a-flockin’. ;)

God, this is gorgeous! I throw up my hands when trying to describe this scent. I have no idea what I'm smelling, just that I love it. It lasts forever and saves the best part for last. The drydown doesn't start until about 10 hours in on my skin, but when it does, I can't keep from constant sniffing even though there's really no need. Two spritzes and I'm hanging in a cloud all day. One of those perfumes where I keep thinking "Damn, I smell good!" It's creamy and sweet and just the essence of warm sensuality. Easily the sexiest perfume I have among the many bottles, vials and samplers I have.

Memoir Woman is first. almost neck and neck ,Lyric Woman is one of the best female fragrances. It is more than just a perfume. It is the caviar of perfumes. Memoir Woman, is truly the seductress in the Amouage family. Its Kin, Lyric Woman is also very attractive, Memoir is the sister with a little bit more intense makeup. I have not found a perfume that has surpassed these. Pure perfection from top, heart to base. This is not for the humble. Memoir Woman is a head turner, no doubt.

Then Epic woman, Its the best incense perfume past and present. There is something special and appealing, can be unisex. As much as I enjoy Epic and its glory, it is wonderful but not enticing nor sexy. However, Lyric & Memoir are the Femme séductrice setting themselves above all expectations of how long they last and how well the hold their base notes.

Memoir Woman best described: If bees are placed in example of comparison, Well then, Memoir would surely is a Queen Bee.

Wow!!!! This is so beautifully blended. I would never be able to do this justice by picking apart notes so you will have to excuse my review. Gorgeous woods, spices and a beautiful smoky haze!!! Total stunner, incredibly sexy and sure to turn heads. When out make sure you're not being followed because this one is sure to inspire such actions!!!

An initial pepper-induced sneezing fit followed by a headache wasn't the dream introduction to Memoir I'd hoped for. 7 hours on and the itchy nose and head pain have subsided, but I'm the wallflower at this party, looking in and not understanding how to get onboard with the festivities.

The quality of the ingredients is impressive. The longevity looks like it could last long into the evening so, well over 12 hours. The silage is very good without encroaching on others' personal airspace.

It's unequivocally unisex. In fact, I find it more masculine than feminine and did wonder if I'd been sent the correct sample. I've been assured that I was.

But I don't like it; it's far too peppery for me. I'm counting down the hours to home time so I can wash it from my skin and clothes. Perhaps my customary 3 spritzes was too much; perhaps I need to try it again with just 2. However, I don't feel inclined to. I've tried it, and I'm very glad to have had the experience. But my relationship with Memoir Woman ends here.

Just like another reviewer stated, this is very rich, like that rich dessert, you can only eat about 2 bites of before you need to wash it down with water! So mysterious, so sexy, so alluring. But somehow, there is still a lurking of freshness in the background like a rose hidden under mounds of chocolate. No, there's no chocolate in this, but that's the only thing I can think of. This is something you wear to a regal event or special occasion. Definitely for the GROWN and SEXY type woman. Yum!
