Bottega Veneta Pour Homme by Bottega Veneta is a Leather fragrance for men. Bottega Veneta Pour Homme was launched in 2013. Bottega Veneta Pour Homme was created by Daniela (Roche) Andrier and Antoine Maisondieu. Top notes are Siberian Pine, Juniper and Calabrian bergamot; middle notes are Canadian Fir, Clary Sage and Pimento; base notes are Leather, Patchouli and Labdanum.

In collaboration with Coty Prestige, Bottega Veneta, after editions for women Bottega Veneta from 2011 and Bottega Veneta Eau Legere from 2013, is launching the first perfume for men, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme. "My idea was based on the journey of a man leaving region Veneto towards the north, to the dolomites … He reserves time from his full, urban timetable to spend days in a mountain house with icy cold breezes coming from the forest," says Tomas Meyer, creative director of the brand.

The fragrance is signed by perfumers of the house of Givaudan, Daniela Andrier and Antoine Maisondieu, setting Andalusian labdanum as the key note of the composition set in its base. Top notes refresh us with accords of Calabrian bergamot, pine from Siberia and juniper from the Balkans. The heart adds spicy notes of Jamaican pepper warmed by Canadian fir resins enriched with Mediterranean clary sage, resting on strong Andalusian labdanum, leather and Indonesian patchouli.

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme will be available in a rounded grey flacon made of glass and shaped like the women's edition. Its stopper contains leather parts. Sales of the new perfume for men are expected from September 2013.

I join the group of people who didn't like this scent. I have wanted to test this perfume for a very long time and when I finally managed to do so, I was left with a feeling of considerable disappointment. I agree with the statement of the reviewer below that the scent is a bit in the opening, for my nose it is the least pleasant part of this composition.
This opening is full of green conifers, but for me it is primarily sour. Yes, the beginning of the scent is too sour for me. Perhaps the combination of bergamot, which is responsible for a great breath of freshness, along with pine, juniper and fir, does not sound good on my skin, or the season is inappropriate, I don't know.
Very quickly, after just a few minutes I start to feel the skin in the background. Over time, this feeling of sharp sourness disappears, the Christmas trees calm down a bit, the smell becomes warmer and slightly sweet. The leather is becoming more and more visible, accompanied by a lot of smoky labdanum and earthy patchouli. The pine remains noticeable until the end but fades into the background. It's getting darker. At this stage I like the scent much more, but unfortunately it is very close to the skin.
Well, parameters are a big minus of Bottega Veneta Pour Homme. The opening is loud and expressive, but it doesn't last long. The scent loses its momentum very quickly - after just a few minutes - it calms down and after an hour or two it is barely noticeable, its projection is extremely intimate. The durability is also poor, it stays on the skin for 3-4 hours. In my opinion, the price is very unprofitable and excessive.
It's not a bad perfume, but it didn't impress me as much as I expected. They're off my wish list, but I'll give them a second chance in the spring. I have the impression that these are perfumes whose reception is strongly dependent on the weather and season.
The rating is slightly high because I adopted grading criteria without half- or plus points, but 6 for the overall performance is a bit too low.

I call this type of leather "moist leather", or fresh leather, and it's my favorite leather. Its a distant cousin of leathers as Bel Ami, Je suis un Homme, even Eau de Gloire, but has more conifers instead of citruses, save for a brisk(unfortunately) bergamot opening. Then, the upper part has that other note I begin to see everywhere recently : Proraso shaving foam', done with style. Someone just shaved in the shady study near the brown leather sofa. A luxury shaving kit in a leather case. Softly bitter, piney leathery, calibrated blackness, formal but sensual, actually great. Surprisingly fleeting though, but still great.

This is a mixture of Bogart signature with Pino Silvestre. It has similar kind of green sourness that is also present in Bogart.

Fortunately it was just a sample. Weak and nothing more above mid in this frag.

Beautiful, classy, mature, soft and powdery pine and leather. Fir is listed as an accord, but I almost get a cedar pencil shavings vibe lurking in the background ( in a good way!) I agree with everything in Hoxx's review below.

Hoxx

An elegant, timeless scent which I'll try to always have in my collection, Bottega Veneta PH is a modern interpretation of a well-known accord, but with less audacity and greenness. Maybe even too little audacity though, and that's the first and probably only bad thing I can say about this one.

This is a somewhat simple scent, driven by leather and pine/fir accords. You can feel both the pine needles and its tree and sap from the very beginning, and later on it becomes more leathery, while still having aromatic quality of pine note. While these notes can sound a bit heavy and potentially cloying, BV PH is very far from it - in fact, I would rather classify it as a fresh scent.

For me, BV is a very formal scent, it really requires a certain age or experience to be properly enjoyed. With less than ideal longevity and a rather personal scent cloud after, like, an hour or so, it is no wonder I haven't gotten too many compliments wearing this one, especially considering my age as well, but ones that did are very dear to me, because they come from people that know me better, for better or worse. Also, I have to point out that I cannot even imagine this one being interesting for a woman looking for a scent for herself, unlike lots of modern male fragrances - and that comes from someone who considers pretty much everything to be unisex.

To sum it up, I firmly believe that Bottega Veneta made a heck of a job here, because while this scent is very different to what people are looking for these days, it caught the attention of a lot of us. People who enjoy the fragrance school of eighties, but would prefer something less loud, can take this one and enjoy it. While I haven't had the opportunity to properly try other, more concentrated versions, I know I will try my best to do so.

8.5/10 for a scent I will always have, and if it had better longevity, it would be a higher mark for sure.

peter.pan22

initially smells really nice and masculime, like a pine forest. Really wonderful job. Disappointing dry down to labdanum dominance too sewwt and femimine for my taste.

heysmell

I don't know what you guys think of my idea but for me of all the perfumes I have, it is closest to prada homme intense. I'll check it another time, because I just received the package,
but it is definitely not issey miyake sport....or boss... as someone mentioned.
it is a sophisticated and mature fragrance. not for boys...

woomanmoomin

I'm not sure I'd say that this is especially close to the original green Polo, but yes, I absolutely can empathise with the many people here who consider this is a more modern and perhaps more wearable take on the Polo idea, and no, in contrast to Polo, I might not wear this is in the depths of winter either. I'm inclined to see it as a spring/autumn, day/night fragrance. It's probably too busy for warm summer days and a little too--I don't know--soft or reserved for winter, at any rate here in Scotland. That is absolutely not a shortcoming.

For me, the combination here of conifer notes, bergamot, leather, labdanum and probably patchouli makes for a resinously sappy mastic scent, with something approaching a bubblegum (or mastic/pistachio Turkish delight?) fruitiness, and a kind of sweet, sparkly, almost youthful edge in which I think the patchouli must play a part. I find the fragrance almost physically cooling, with a classy, cool ambience--no performance issues for me, but then I'm not looking to accost anyone's nose with this stuff--yet in my case there's also a kind of round skanky fullness at the heart of the experience. It can smell indolic like a dirty nappy to me, although I can't make much sense of that in relation to the notes listed. Much of it may be down to the leather and labdanum, but I also feel as if the pimento is sitting on my damn sofa there in the centre of the fragrance, cowboy boot feet up on the coffee table, arms outstretched along the back of the sofa, watching my damn TV with this cocky badass expression on its face as if it couldn't care less whether anyone thinks it's out of place, or has noticed it at all, and knowing that consequently, without lifting a finger, it pretty much rules the roost. I suppose that that facet of the fragrance has to remind me of Xeryus Rouge, which shares the pimento note.

This is a scent combining presence with a kind of laid-back or worldly-wise confidence. With its blue-green conifer aura and its sweeter side, it does have qualities that might appeal to some young noses--but it's probably not for the young gourmand-lover or anyone who thinks their perfume should slap everyone else in the face for attention. This fragrance has been there, done that, and quietly harbours fond memories of your mum.

Dimmuburger

Disappointed frankly. Beginning has the great fresh aromatic evergreen notes I personally love, but quickly dries down into a generic powdery floral note I can't quite put my finger on, but I smelled it in Boss Bottled Night, and Issey Miyake Sport, and was the primary note that made me sell both of those.

Hotduece

Underrated clean classic hyper masculine scent. This stuff is not faint, it lasts all day on me as well. Very nice for what it is

fatcartmanPL

I adore that one. Such a smooth, well crafted fragrance. If I could choose one one fragrance too keep this one would be a solid candidate. Very classy and elegant, versatile and overally pleasing. Fir, pine, conifer forest with a leathery twist. Great scent.

Kelz23

Smells great but it is very faint. Going to try the extreme version instead

DichterundDenker

A woody sweetness. Very pleasant, masculine and of very good quality.

jschmidty89

Top notes hit you with a beautiful, clean, and spicy pine that calms into a woodsy, leathery scent.
Projection/sillage is definitely on the intimate side. It's classy, refined, and a great office fragrance.
Smells luxurious and quite unique IMO.
Probably not fitting for a man under 30.

monsieur.moustache

A classic, masculine scent that wouldn't be out of place in the 80's. Shaving cream in the opening and smooth, somewhat formal patchouli in the dry down.

Not entiely groundbreaking, but a pleasant fragrance nonetheless.

Enough said from Dvntex_ . I agree with everything he said.
I had a sample and i'll buy it.

Marcjohn86

Initial impressions from a 90ml bottle that I was able to purchase recently are that I completely understand why so many people like this fragrance for it's scent, and I also so far also understand why so many take issue with it's performance. It's a pretty intimate fragrance that has very little push after the first hour, but of course this is a first impression and I haven't used it consistently to be able to truly assess performance. Sometimes I use a fragrance and it does terribly at first and then when I use it more consistently it does better. With all of that aside, the smell of this is very, very high quality. I get the Polo Green comparisons, it has similar facets but it's much more wearable and the piney resins come off much darker and more realistic than what you get with Polo. You could certainly say that this is like the modern version of Polo though, that's not a stretch to say.

I think this is perfect for guys in their 30s and up, maybe even I'd say this is a 40+ fragrance although I myself am in my early 30s and this hits all of the right notes with me, but I don't think a lot of guys in their 20s are going to be into this, that's just my opinion though. 30+, office friendly, wear it casually or formally, this is a day or night fragrance and it fits in virtually any season although the leather is a bit dark for something like a 75+ degree day sunny day in the summer.

This one's a winner though, I'm very happy with it and I love how even right now I'm just catching these pleasant whiffs of it from underneath my shirt. I'm gonna wear this one a lot while it's still a little cooler out and definitely next fall, but at the price I was able to find it at I had to snatch it up even if it's coming up on the time of year when I think I'd wear it the least.

weazal

Spicy, damp pine with supple leather and bitter grapefruit. There’s a dry/powdery note that lends balance and makes it formal, mature, classy, intoxicating. A bright streak cuts through in an alluring way that makes you keep wanting to smell and figure it out.

A professor's cozy, musty office that you have a crush on.

Noobsinth

Smells very-very-very classy, but very-very-very oldschool: brief citrusy-coniferous opening and dark green, phenolic, salty and animalic leathery drydown.

I think this smells fantastic during the high heat when it becomes alive like a sparkling deep coloured emerald. During the colder months these scents are usually unpleasantly cold, sharp, bitter like angry sneks!

jbinner88

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme is for the refined gentleman. It comes across as a very professional and slightly mature scent. It's not meant to be loud, as the pine and subtle leather sits close to the skin. I do wish the longevity was better here though. Think of a thinner and more modern take on the original Polo Green. Also, BV Pour Homme is relatively expensive and getting difficult to find so I'm wondering if this has been discontinued. This is more of an office or formal event wear. Even though the projection is weak, it is still an amazing scent.

BGBG

Almost the perfect gentlemanly scent for office.

Colognewizz

Great for colder weather. Very wealthy and luxurious smelling.

Caldrumr

It's okay.
Tons of juniper, some generic green woods, and a whole lot of leather in the base.
It's safe and smells fine, if not particularly interesting.
Might be a good office scent.

Laliqua

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme - Really mature due to a heavy juniper note. The scent is woody-spicy.

this is amazingggg! timeless classic scent in a mature way.
i had 5 sprays in my neck and t shirt, i had no issue about the performance, trust me it's a great fragrance!
i was thinking this fragrance is designed not for a beast mode but it gives a soft touch airy, aromatic, leathery, and i got some a dried vetiver at the dry down, i dont know where was it comes from, its so manly blended!

projection : first 2-3 hours
longevity : 7-8 hours

the performance is above average, i swear

juristhegreat

It's masculine without overpowering. Safe but still manage Its unique quality.

Opened with a piney forest scent and a burst of juniper and bergamot, followed by aromatic notes from sage and little bit spicy from pimento, and build up to a dry down of handsome combination of greenish labdanum, warm patchouli, right amount of leather in an immense of woody nuance.

The Italian brand puts its DNA by adding detail of leather at the bottle neck, and weaving pattern that exclusive to the brand, called intreciatto technique, in the base of the bottle.

Thumbs up for Daniela Roche Andrier and Antoine Maisondeu.

BOTTEGA VENETA

Candyandy

Smells like Haribo cola candy in the opening then it becomes green and coniferous. I don't get any leather from this. When the cola fades it reminds me to my surprise strongly of Acqua did Gio Profumo. I don't know which notes contribute to that since this one doesn't have any marine or aquatic notes listed but I find them surprisingly similar.
Overall I like it. It is a decent scent that no one is talking about which can be a plus. I'm just not sure if it is interesting enough. If you like fresh foresty scents them I'd say try it. But it's not something I'll be recommending left and right saying everyone should smell this at least once.

Cletus Lorentz

The leather in the drydown is fantastic! The pine opening is ok but a bit too sweet for me. A natural pine forest don´t smell sweet so why add these sweet notes? Makes it smell unnatural.

bpmck78

On scent alone it's really good. Very yellow/green. Like walking through a forest of ferns. Nicely blended leather/ patchouli base. It's a modern take on old school fragrances that frankly I would never wear.
Performance is dismal. A foot or two of sillage maybe if you are walking into stiff breeze. And that is immediately after spraying.
Issue 2; Glade makes carpet deodorizer that smells like this.
Issue 3; It's too expensive for this level of performance.
Personally I prefer Pour Homme Essence Aromatique but it has the same performance problems. I haven't tried any other flankers to compare. Supplies have dried up and the line might be headed for discontinuation. No surprise, not many people want to smell like a Christmas tree anymore

Made by Kouros

Black suede boots in a cold autumn forest.

It's a cold, bitter leather-plus-forest scent: pine needles, junipers and all. It's classy, masculine, introvert, old money, and would even create a slightly intimidating leader aura if it was heavier. As is, it's a skin scent even when sprayed heavy.

wolfjeanne

This is nice. Understated in a good way and very unlike the current fragrance mainstream. No oceanic notes and just a tiny splash of citrus. No real sweetness here either. But rather than saying what this is not, I perhaps should try to describe what it *is*. And that's a bit more difficult as there is a lot going on. So much so that it's almost like walking into an esoteric shop: a lot of notes all at once, but without anything dominating.

Perhaps that's also why the notes here are such a mess -- or maybe it's my skin/nose. Most people seem to be getting a lot of pine, which is more like the supporting cast for me. And it is more resin and less Christmas tree. Leather for me is mostly absent -- or maybe I am attributing leather notes to the labdanum because that for me is the heart of this. Labdanum isn't as sweet as amber but gives off a similar exotic balsamic vibe. Clary sage also barely gets any votes here but is prominent for me (I suspect it might be cetalox, the note of JHG Not a Perfume, which is derived from clary sage). I've been on a real vetiver bender lately and this seem to have some humming in the background, though it isn't listed. Together, it makes for a complex dry woody smell with a somewhat funky, almost musky dry-down.

All of that is somewhat irrelevant when you consider the longevity of this though. It's a skin scent within half an hour and more or less gone after 3. The only way to make it last longer is to over-spray and hope I don't run into anyone in the first 20 minutes. I would try the parfum or extreme versions but they seem to have been discontinued. It's a shame. (EDIT: found a cheap bottle of Extreme. It performs marginally better but smells less well balanced). Just based on the smell, this could be a strong 8 but considering price & performance, it's more like a 6/10 for me.

ktttheone

I absolutely love this scent!! It is the ultimate barbershop style fragrance with a slight coca cola vibe if you ask me! I heard the performance wasn't great on this so a sprayed a couple more times than I normally would and this performed great. Projected well for a solid 2 hours, and lasted a good 5 - 6 hours which was absolutely fine by me. I use it as a hot date night fragrance and it is perfect scent and performance for that!

MalakiSeven

I must be the odd man out. To me this smells like old hair spray, trust me, you won't have to worry about performance, you'll be running from all the cats that are chasing you down the street.

NathFrag

Smells awesome. I picked it up at full retail and the performance was a huge let down. Performs like a 10 dollar cheapie

Great99

So I read many lists of BEST fragrances in fashion magazines and on the web, this not often spoke of in YouTube circle's item came up ALL THE TIME. It often was in the top 5 and written about on a level unheard of. I looked at the notes, and was baffled??? How can this be good? I read reviews and my curiosity made this a MUST HAVE blind buy. The issue was, discounters rarely have this in stock, and if they do, it is not that cheap. I waited for the 100ml tester patiently (it cost slightly more than the full presentation 50ml) and when it was available I got it. When it arrived, I took off the cap (yes my tester had a cap, fancy) and checked it out. My verdict, it is incredible! Did not disappoint, only issue is the performance being soft. But if your fragrance is for your own personal enjoyment, this one is hard to resist. I have nothing in my collection I can really compare it to, this is just a well blended classy cool weather (not cold or hot) gem. Every male fragrance lover should own this, period!

parias74

This is what old aristocracy smells like !!!

riff65

Since I utterly adore Bottega Veneta for women, this was a doubtless blind-buy for me. I cannot say that I’m not disappointed. Two words describe this one: beautiful and weak. Surely office safe, no one’s gonna smell it except yourself :-)

markactor

Unique, exudes confidence, universal in occasions to wear, and masculine. The projection is close to the skin and not a lot of staying power, but it is elegant and worth exploring for yourself. Woodsy - check, leather - where? I did not detect leather in this, but with or without, it is outstanding.
Scent 9/10

Ali-smellsnice

This smells absolutely fantastic and very herbal, dark masculine with hints of citrus, my ONLY complaint is that its kind of weak and doesnt project or perform well, you could get issey miyake intense for 1/4 of the price and itll last 3x longer with very similar scent. but ultimately very high end and intimate scent, I feel like i should have a trophy wife whilst looking over downtown detroit in my penthouse suite when I wear this. Very sexy and masculine and not sweet at all.

Vitriol08

This is so weak! I was so excited to get it as a blind buy reading all the reviews but... zero smell, zero longevity
much better version of that is Frank #2

scentient

I get that this is for men, but for the tree loving woman like myself it is also really nice. Unisex woodsy scent that is not overpowering.

Arber Cami

Man this fragrance reminds me of the old fougere barbershop fragrances. Fir, pine, juniper and leather = 100% masculin fragrance. Sheer class nothing else to say. I absolutely love it!

zelelipe

Got a sample of this for a guy and it smells gorgeous - really pick up on the pine, Juniper and Fir and then the Labdanum and Leather at the base. 100% a manly man's fragrance.

scott bowser

A great cologne it's definitely a sweet leather. Perfect for every day wear classic with modern touch not too sweet.

The Oracle

Woodsy-piney, unique, unapologetically masculine, sharp, a bit dark and mysterious, confident - this is a top rate cologne which comes close to occupying its very own niche in the designer fragrance market.

What's also cool about this is that although women find it sexy and alluring, there aren't any sweet goo-goo notes in it. It's not Dior Sauvage or a typical club type thing. It doesn't smell like it's trying to be nice. It just smells like masculine awesome. Think black Porsche. Or suit and tie at the symphony. Or wearing a leather jacket at a rock concert with a 10/10 young lady next to you. This is for healthy, fit, confident, successful guys - or guys who want to be like that.

Mcnubins

This is the highest quality, just omg great scent ever; that is gone in 30 minutes. Goddamn I love the smell. It is super niche quality with an open box, bargain bin at Marshalls staying power. I've been trying to give this as much love over the years as I possibly can but if you aren't applying it every few hours you will get nowhere. It doesn't even stay as a skin scent. If someone were to remake this and give it some lasting power 6-8hrs, doesn't even need much projection, just make it last longer; it would be a $300+ scent.

easterncrescent

A luxurious high-end retro pine and leather cologne and very much does smell like you have walked into a Bottega Veneta store. If you like YSL Rive Gauche this will be right up your alley. performance could be better. I very much like the extreme version of this which is amped up but it has been discontinued!

Fazh97

This is one of the most natural piney scents I've come across. Slightly mature and very pleasant. Unfortunately the performance is terrible. Almost gone after a couple hours and almost no projection.

If this was stronger it would be my favorite.

Gabe palabras

All the reviews are correct, easy to please fresh pines and a soft leather, well the reason I liked this is because it is a very good substitute for the fresh leather I’m looking for, like Helmut lang cuiron.

dr.gevic_vet

What a beautiful & perfect scent with poor performance!!! Realistic pine combine with a classy leather vibes & a little juniper sweetness.Pure class in a bottle. This is better than extreme & perfume versions IMO. 8/10 . Perfect office scent for spring & fall.

RENATOSP

Classic with a twist. 100% masculine. Elegance in a bottle. I love the fresh citrusy/peppery start as well as the cypress/pine notes. After a couple of hours the leather/labdanum takes center stage and it gets mellower after that. I would love for it to be more of a bomb, but then again it would be wrong for the office which is where I wear it most of the time. When I want it to project a little more and to last longer I over spray it (5 times) and it does the trick. Its my second bottle already and I will buy it again if it is available.

Ksj_

How would I describe this…? A clean gentleman.

This is peppery, woody, and fresh. It also reminds me of a barbershop/and a bar of soap.

7.5/10 due to performance. But a great scent nonetheless.

mark_frag

To my nose one of the most sophisticated modern men's aromatic leather fragrances with unfortunately the shortest possible longevity (1-2.5h on my skin), which is on the verge of amazing. At the same time, it is obvious that the ingredients are top notch. I don't understand. It is similar with the extreme version (up to 3,5h), regardless of the date of production. I wonder if it might be a statement !?

Ok,I’ve read the reviews, actually watched video about this one a couple of years ago,and they said like it’s mature, piny etc...and i said,no,i’m not going to blind buy this(as i had no place to try it anywhere)...today,finally got a chance...as soon as I sprayed it...omg,this is sooo good!Yes,i got that pine, but it’s so well blended!I almost thought-this could be my signature scent,my holy grail, and i have a decent collection of very good fragrances.Masculine, sophisticated, maybe mature, but in a very refined way(no grandpa/grand dad vibes)...Just fantastic blended gentlemanly/sophisticated fragrance. One of those scents that you don’t mind it’s bad performance, due it’s great smell!I wonder how the extreme/parfum versions smell like, and i’m sad that i haven’t purchased stronger versions, while they were still available,at reasanoble prices. This is a masterpiece in a bottle.

BurberryLondon4ever

Wow. I apologize to all supposed negative reviewers here. Whenever I read that a certain fragrance only lasted two or three hours I would think that people were just exaggerating since most people want beast mode performance. Today I became a believer. This was my scent of the day. I always spray my t-shirt under my work shirt and usually every fragrance up to now has performed all day with enough projection to send wafts enough so I can smell my SOD throughout the day. Unfortunately the only time this projected was when I put it on and in the car drive to work. I really liked the scent but too bad it performed poorly probably 3 hours tops with hardly to no projection. This is why decants is the way to go so that if a scent didn't meet your standards then you can archive the rest of the juice for future reference. Next I will try the Intense and then the Parfum which Max Forti reviewer went crazy over so I'm anxious to try that one.

Snowleox

Class, sophistication, noble, macho with a class, pride, confidence, calm, serene and elegant!
The masculine master piece of our generation, period.
The only leather perfume that is wearable from a perfumery art view!
Because fragrances like tf or other leather based are scents and not perfumes, because wearing a leather jacket is a leather jacket scent not a perfume!

shalimaraddict

I have an original bottle of this from when it came out. I haven't tried any new bottles to see if it's much different (or if there was a reformulation). I really like this. It is a masculine classic fragrance. I pick up a lot on the woody notes, leather, and patchouli. When I wear it I feel classy. It's a nice alternative to all the blue scents that are popular these days.

andy812

PURE CLASS.... I love the extreme as well,it's stronger, with a hint of pepper added.

simpa256

This is no leather. The only notes I get are pine, woods and incense like smell. This is like a mash up of a more smoother pino silvestre and adg profumo dry down. It means you get this strong pine wood smell, that is not fresh but more bitter lile the pine tree. If you had a pine ashtray, this is what it smells in the opening. The mid and dry down are like 95% of adg profum dry down. This lasts 12 hours and I could still smell it after the shower and in the morning. On skin. This is for a manly man. Red flanel shirt and an axe and big old beard. He is going to chop down some woods with might for his lady and then take her on the floor like the men in the 80s. This is no joke. No unixes gender fluid or modrern stuff like that but a bit modernised old school frag similar to ones that our fathers used to wear. You know how real tough men can hold their liquor... the same thing is with this. You need to be a mans man to handle it and for it not to wear you.

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme opens with a great and strong projection of pine accords, accompanied by some bergamot which enhances the woody green accords without becoming prominent. The juniper of the opening is just a soft touch, slightly fruity and mostly woody. The pimento is just a soft spicy touch; the Canadian fir joins the blend to enhance the green pine accords; whereas the clary sage, adds a soft herbaceous green accord. As the fragrance commences to dry-down the initial bergamot dissipates almost entirely, the initial strong projection subsides and becomes moderate. At this point, the base notes join the blend, both the labdanum and leather are the most prominent notes adding some darkness to the fragrance. The leather found in this fragrance is mild, white and aromatic and blends well with the woody accords. The patchouli is a distant green touch. The projection drops even more once the base notes have set in becoming mostly a woody and soft leather fragrance. Once Bottega Veneta Pour Homme EDT has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as pinewood and clean leather fragrance with soft spicy touches. The fragrance slightly dark, classy, earthy, exotic, slightly herbaceous, white leathery, masculine, mature, natural, slightly resinous, weak, woody, and pleasant.

BATCH REVIEWED: 2020.
WOW RATING: 4/10. The dry-down is pleasant but very weak.
DISLIKE RATING: 3/10. The leather and dark nature is likely to be offensive to some people.
UNIQUENESS: 2/10. Leather and wood accords are common. The fragrance is not special.
MASS APPEAL: 5/10. Moderate, leather fragrances are not the most mass-appeal.
PROJECTION: 1/10. About 1 foot around the wearer. The opening is great, but the fragrance loses projection very quickly.
SILLAGE: 1/10. Almost none.
APPLICATION: Six or more atomizations to compensate for poor performance.
LONGEVITY: 3/10. About 3 hours, with 1/2 hour or moderate projection, then it is very low.
SEASONS: Winter and fall.
OCCASIONS: Formal events, outdoor gatherings, office, business, casual, holidays, clubbing. This is an office-friendly fragrance.
VERSATILITY: 5/10. Moderate, limited by seasons.
GENDER: Masculine, the woody, and leather accords lean it to the masculine side.
AGES: 30 and above.
RECOMMENDATION: Bottega Veneta Pour Homme is a pleasant fragrance, its opening is strong but very short-lived which leaves behind just a big disappointment. Not recommended.
BLIND-BUY: Yes, but consider its very poor performance.
SIMILAR: Bottega Veneta Pour Homme EDP is similar and addresses the poor performance problem.
SUMMARY: A pinewood and clean leather fragrance with soft spicy touches. The fragrance slightly dark, classy, earthy, exotic, slightly herbaceous, white leathery, masculine, mature, natural, slightly resinous, weak, woody, and pleasant.

Smells very outdated, like a fragrance from 60s or 70s. reminds me of Azzaro for men and Aramis.

Victorchachi

Very masculine leathery citrus perfume. Really elegant. In the same vein as John Varvatos' line but a bit more mature in my opinion. Performance is alright, nothing great. Can be worn at all seasons but summer. Day and night fragrance, and really versatile. For men older than 25, but preferably those between the age of 50 and 60, with a young soul.

8.4/10.

Vapor Trail

Beautiful fresh, woody, masculine fragrance let down by poor performance. Smells AMAZING for about 30-45 minutes, then sadly turns into a skin scent.

It really does give off a windy, foresty vibe. The opening is just killer with a modern bergamot/pine blend. I just wish it lasted longer!

kahzen

The coniferous notes don't last very long, but I really love the leather that remains. It's classy and mature (NOT dated). Gives the vibes of being calm, quiet, and confident. I imagine being among pine trees with light, quiet snowfall all around and wearing a black wool/leather jacket; just standing there being introspective and taking in a mood.

A few downsides to consider though. First, once it hits the leather, there's not much else (still, it's really good). Secondly, the longevity and projection is quite poor. After 30 minutes the coniferous notes dissipate and the fragrance becomes a skin scent for about 3 hours. Thirdly, this scent actually smells bad on my skin. Depending on how it reacts on you, there's an initial "stank" when you catch a whiff of it which is unpleasant.

Overall, I think it's a perfect scent for winter, but I'd suggest finding a sample to wear for a few days first.

6opar

Spicy citrus and smoky wood. And lame leather. And I thought Illusione was boring.

Bottega Veneta seems to be my least attractive brand in terms of fragrances that I have tried. I have not smelled any of the Porsches, mind you.

ILikeToSmellNice

I love this on my husband (he loves it too) This smells like a manly man, without the toxic masculinity haha. Class, wealth and modern chivalry are what I associate with this scent. It's a love from both of us.

rmt_fragrantica

I don't have this but am seriously thinking of buying this as a daytime EdT. I tried it twice from a tester. The first time was the SA asking me to try it, the 2nd I went back because something piqued my interest. It is so understated, clean, balanced, appropriate. I feel comfortable wearing this anywhere. I don't find that the coniferous notes are overpowering, but that they lend their strength to give some uniqueness, some discordant yet integrated note on a refined background of spice. It is not sweet, it is dry and confident.

I found the longevity good (about 4-5 hours?), which is unusual for me.

Edit (Jan 2020). I bought it but I'm returning it. I live in a cool climate and as with many other fragrances this one needs warmth to bring out the good elements. I can breathe warm air on my skin to remind myself how it smelt at the fragrance counter, but otherwise it smells like a plastic, chemical soap. If I was only wearing this during warm weather I would keep it, but I was looking for a general purpose, daily EdT. The Proraso cypress&vetiver cologne does the job and I'm happy with its price, so I'll stick to that for now.

SJC

Smells like you are walking through a...um...synthetic pine forest of paper mache glued together with hair spray. But regardless of the scent's qualities, longevity is poor at 3-4 hours and sillage is even worse. Sprayed an entire 1 ml sample on my neck with barely detectable occasional whiffs then vanished in 3-4 hours.

J350

Okay, so I did not like this at first. I found this to be spicy. However, after giving it a second try I thought, WOW. Timeless and classy. The only thing is, I find the juniper and bergamot notes to be somewhat overpowering- almost to the point where the leather notes are unnoticeable. The fragrance came in a black packaging and black bottle and I am pretty sure you'd automatically assume woody and leather scent i.e Tom Ford Ombre Leather. I like it. It is very masculine but they could do with more leather and woody notes in it. It's great for the cooler months and is perfect for the office.
My overall rating: 7/10.

PinRa

This fragrance oozes wealth and nonchalant class.

The Bottega Veneta perfume line is underrated. All there perfume follow more or less the same idea : very modern smell but somehow has a classic perfumery edge to it. The smell readjusted for our time.

Over all super well balances and coherent sent (feels like ''you get the whole story'', no notes are missing). Nonetheless very airy.

Smelling this I imagine a young man dressed up very tastefully with timeless style.

I recently sold my bottle... what a mistake... In my opinion this and terre d’hermes are the best recent designer scents...

Yayos

Opens like Fougère Royale, dries down into Aramis Aramis. A pass for me. (Tested on paper though.)

Revisited and Awesome. Your woman will appreciate this. They don’t make them like this anymore. If you want to smell like a man.....
This scent is very masculine and distinct. This is how men’s scent should be done. This scent blows all of Daniela’s Prada other scents out of the water. I like that is doesn’t have her typical powder scent vibe. One of the top masculine men’s scent of all time. A very casual and formal scent that will grab your attention. The bergamot, juniper berry, leather, pine, and patchouli is just perfect. Try it or buy it. Also the Parfum and extreme is good

jkonick

I blind bought this one after reading good reviews and seeing the preponderance of green, resinous notes listed in the description. I currently live in Central California, but I grew up in Washington, and this takes me straight to the fresh, green, coniferous forests I grew up around. The opening is all sharp, green resin; this evokes pine needles and sap more than the wood itself.

This would risk verging in total Christmas tree territory if the resinous, woody/labdanum notes weren’t balanced out with pepper and leather. The leather is light, and it took a few wears to pick up on it. It’s more like a leather mocassin than a jacket or car interior. The overall effect of this was really familiar, but I couldn’t quite place it at first: Barbasol shaving cream, the brand my dad used when I was a kid. It’s like an incredibly classy version of that shaving cream vibe, which also gives it a bit of a retro feel.

This is beautifully blended, and while it’s not daring or groundbreaking, it is just exceptionally pleasant smelling. Now for the bad part - the projection/staying power. I honestly don’t care much about projection because I mostly wear cologne for myself, but I wish this had a bit more punch and oomph. I get about 2-3 hours before it starts getting really faint and fades away. Of course you can reapply throughout he day, but it’s not cheap and I’m not sure it’s worth using that much.

UPDATE on longevity: I've been layering this with Gucci Guilty Absolute - the BV tones down the harshness of GGA, and the GGA amps up the leather in BV - usually about 1-2 sprays GGA to 4-5 sprays BV. After about 5 hours, the BV is totally gone, but I can still smell the GGA on my shirt the next day.

Blankface

I purchased this the other day as a blind buy, based off many good reviews. Initial smell is excellent, very masculine - very strong woody notes. Unfortunately this is the worst longevity out of any perfume I have ever owned and projection is equally as bad, the scent lasts for around 30 minutes very close to your skin and even on clothes it dissipates very quickly. I'm glad I only paid $40aud for this as I'm disappointed with the performance.
If the longevity was better it would be perfect for a date night or dinner, all seasons round.
I am keen to try the EDP version to see if it performs any better.

Cazz04

This fragrance is a boyfriend that comes off cold and hard to break the ice with to outsiders but behind closed doors you have your inside jokes and know he is cuddly. He has his sh*t together but isn’t a Billionaire.. he isn’t drowning in debt or wants to keep up with the jones’. He’s outdoorsy to the point he makes sure you don’t lift a finger and if you do he pokes fun at you. He’s the one it will take a long time for your father to warm up to because their personalities clash but get them outside in their hobbies, the walls fall down.

This fragrance may be the well parented jock who isn’t all that charismatic but independent. Isn’t sleezy but a great charmer. I think this fragrance could be likened to the Actor Josh Hutcherson in the role he played in Hunger Games.

All in all this scent is unique, sillage could be better and longevity run of the mill.

petemccubbin

I've got a vial of this and a vital of the EDP coming!

I'm really looking forward to smelling them from all of your reviews!

The quest for a signature scent continues!

dryz

Smells outdated to me . old fashion.. nothing special in my opinion.

Bullrider23

Last night I took a taxi ride to the job, and the cab driver asked me what I was wearing, I said "Bottega Veneta", and he said that the smell is very manly, leathery, something a sophisticated man would wear with an expensive suit. I'm a doorman and I thanked him, that's the reason why I bought this fragrance, to wear it with confidence and pride, this fragrance is for men who lead by example, trendsetters who men admire and follow.

clintjr82

Whatever perfumer did this, hit it out the park with this. This stuff is incredible. All so Masculine. Blended expertly. If simple and unique is a genre this is it. I'm pretty sure the top fragrance critics will put this in the top classic line up of Manly Colognes. Smells Modern and Vintage. Its Fresh and So Clean. I love juniper. The Juniper, Pine, patch, and fir combo is so good. This is the scent that you would have to whiff for your self to appreciate what I'm saying. Some say it doesn't last, get the the extreme if so, its the exact same notes just more of a strike in your face, but it lasts.

c.davis

Masterpiece. This is a Mans scent, all around casual or dress up scent. One of the few masculine scents thats fresh and will turn heads to a niche or designer nose. I't doesnt have to use the overly used fruity and sweet notes to grab your attention. Thankfully Daniela andrier didn't use any powder in this one. I would put this in the top 20 masculine scents of all time.

rjf

Now, this! This I thought I would like, given the notes. But all I detected was a very weak bergamot. I don't like a lot of in-your-face bergamot, so that's a plus, but I could get even less bergamot if I didn't wear this at all.

YYY_Delilah

Thanks for the upvote, whoever it was - but I was actually writing about the Extreme version! It's been transferred there now.

Batphink

I'm not really a leather fan BUT this is beautiful.Very masculine, refined, classy and due to the above very confident and enthused is how it makes me feel. This is probably my fave leather based scent to date of course mixed with the lovely Juniper Berry and I get some patchouli as I'd know that scent anywhere since I love it. Since I put this on ( 2 sprays on each side of neck and one on each wrist it has lasted me easy 5 something hours and women in the bank and shops were eager to chat with me.

If you want to feel like a man and not a teen THIS is what you wear!
I need to test it a bit more but so far.
Scent 9.5 /10

Runjon

I really like this scent, its reminds me of an 80s cologne thats timeless! This scent is a hidden Gem. Im not a huge fan of leather scents but this one i like. Its clean and subtle and Mature. I give it a 7.5 out of 10

Segarno

I tried bottega veneta pour homme extreme version, which has a good longevity and silage, the scent is very similar, but a little denser and more intense. I prefer the original version because of its lightness, despite of its poor performance. So I have a full 90 ml bottle of the extreme version, and I would trade it for the original version. Write ín private if you are ín.

Shisha

This is a pure leather fragrance. Longivety and sillage are good
If u’re looking for not complex leather fragrance this would be the right choice.

The appointment of Tomas Maier as Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director can, no doubt, be seen as a major turning point for the company. He’s successfully applied his artistic and aesthetic vision on its overall image as well as its products, including (luckily!) fragrances. I’ve already reviewed Bottega Veneta’s first perfume, which though marketed to women, I find perfectly unisex and, therefore, enjoy wearing myself. Naturally, I was very curious to give “Bottega Veneta Pour Homme” a go.

I’m happy to say the “Pour Homme” version does not lag behind its female counterpart. Upon the first spritz, we are greeted by the zesty note of bergamot. Yet within seconds we leave the orchard and are instead invited for a walk through a forest of evergreen trees and shrubs. There’s no need to hurry, so the pace is relaxed. As our walk draws to an end, we suddenly realise we’ve been wearing a leather jacket, whose smell is effortlessly coupled with (and subdued by) the piney notes.

Honestly, there isn’t an awful lot going on in this fragrance, which is deserving of fair criticism. The blending of its notes, however, creates such a pleasant aroma of easy-going elegance that it has won me over almost instantly. Although I can’t help feeling the final result is a rather curbed and more digestible version of what might have been a much bolder perfume, I still believe this is another solid offering from Bottega Veneta.

impressedguy

Lots of pine, a wonderful and promising start for a male perfume, oozing maturity and class. Unfortunately the top notes disappear very quickly and it turns out to a skin perfume with just 1h of longevity. Quite disappointing for a fragrance from such a house and with this price tag.

*This review was written after several full wearings of the perfume and not just after smelling this on paper or on wrist.

Virkrattan

This is a wonderful leather scent ,the leather here is so genuine, smell expensive . If you are looking for leather based scent that is versatile and you can wear all year round and smell luxurious go for this one , projection is good and longevity is very good.

I have to change my previous review, I originally called it soapy and forgettable, but in retrospect I am not sure what I was thinking. It does have like a fresher spicy feel with a light leather. Very confidant and elegant. I really enjoy the leather-pepper-juniper combo that gives it almost a realistic black pepper feel. The pepper I feel is more of a capsaicin spicy pepper than the sweet red pepper I usually associate with the word pimento, but could just be a language thing. Either way, nice and warm spicy and still with a clean feel. Doesnt project well or last that long, but smells great so I like to carry spray samples around.

fromthebayandaroundtheway

This is not a ground breaking scent to say the least, but it has it's strengths. First the medicinal, citrusy, coniferous opening is beautifully retro. The middle notes really sing as well. The red chili peeks through assisted by the sage. The real stars in my opinion are the juniper and canadian fir, that when framed by the bergamot harmonize to create a real coniferous scent. The only drawback to this fragrance is the fact that its dry down is anti climactic, and almost absent. I like this fragrance and it lends more to winter/spring time wearings. BVPH is relaxed, stylish and nods to retro scents, but fails to come through on the dry down and in performance. This fragrance feels incomplete but the opening and mid are definitely worth a try.

Veedabestchef

Wow. Tested today this remind me of tom ford Italian cypress. Slightly leathery more green notes. But dry down smells exactly like Italian cypress. Great performance but not overpowering. Great for fall and cooler weather. Night out type of scent. I get about 6 to 8 hours of performance.

Manny44

I don't think I've ever had worse longevity from a fragrance. And especially not one with notes as 'heavy' as this one ( Leather and Galbanum- there is no patchouli here regardless of it being listed in the notes). Smells great, very natural and masculine/virile but I get 90 minutes ( much of the time less ) and poof. I kept testing and testing, reapplying and reapplying hoping for better but it is what it is. There is a reason people are selling their bottles.

sylvain.cheung

I didn't expect that so many negative reviews here.
I'm really in love with this one!

At first I didn't like it. I was at a department store. I tried this one on the card and somehow almost immediately I found some thing stinky...(Before this one I tried several other scents) I gave it a pass immediately. However for some reason I kept thinking about it when I got back and after reading some positive reviews here, I decided to give it a try due to the concept I received. I bought it and tested it again on my skin at home. I found that the "stinky" smell which I detected at first time was probably just the pine with very strong performance. However it became smooth shortly and then came a period which reminds me the same feeling and smell in Dolce and Gabbana The one Eau de Parfum which I dislike.(I guess this is the reason why some people complain it chemical ?) Fortunately this period disappeared in a short time as well. Then became the most beautiful and elegant scent I've ever smelt! It is indeed very well blended! I found some people says it reminds Tom Ford Oud Wood on the page. I absolutely agree with that! Bottega Pour Homme is light yet truly profound whilst Tom Ford Oud Wood is stronger and bitter. Though they are on the same trend in my opinion. They both remind me the smell of oriental herb medicine store in some way which is not a bad thing. Tom Ford is more unique whereas Bottega is more wearable, versatile and classy.

The performance of Bottega Pour Homme isn't bad. The longevity is decent, and sillage is only moderate. which is, however, makes it in a classy, non-offensive and delightful way. I have no regret to buy this one without testing it for long. More than that, I'm so fear that if they will discontinue it some day that I will need to buy more to stock up to make sure it will stay with me as long as possible.
This is truly an underestimated gem!

Classy pine scent and it lasts a good while on me.
Would be my signature scent if it didn't give me a headache every time.

Ebad

Bottega Veneta is a scent for the alpine man who wishes to leave behind the urban environment while maintaining a sophisticated spirit. Andalusian labdanum sets the scene while Siberian pine and fir resins transport you to woods.

Blue Neighborhood

I really like this. It smells the way i would imagine a really sophisticated and dapper european gentleman would smell. Its not aggressive or watery and sporty like most of the offerings for men at the moment, it's a beautiful combination of Juniper, Fir and a really sexy leather note which seems to smolder on my skin. I think if you want something that is inherently quite masculine but well made and very pleasant and easy to wear then i would suggest this.

AndiJ10

Finally got it after looking for a year for it ! It feels classy, natural, non offensive in a well blended way ; like a gentleman. It sits closer to the skin but sometimes a great perfume doesn't have to shout out loud !

Just bought a bottle!
Bottega Veneta Homme is fresh and green. Non offensive, not per se extremely recognizable, but very well executed. It smells natural and pleasant. Smooth and lush afe words that come to my mind as well. I can't see why someone wouldn't like this!

I have had the association with banana when smelling BVH. Yes, you read that right: banana. Anyone else?
In a good way, but still weird! :)

I haven't had a proper wear yet (only on wrist), but the only downside I predict is below moderate projection an longevity. I hope I'm wrong, will report back then!

8/10

Edit: longevity is decent. Warning: don't overspray as you will get a butter-like smell, which isn't pleasant. It's the same butter smell I het with Dior Homme Sport.

Very masculine. The evergreen notes are strong in the beginning. This fragrance stays close to the skin all day, no need to reapply. I like it for serious occasions. I think it smells very mature. This fragrance reminds me a lot of the original polo green. But as an updated version that is less overbearing.

NZFH

This is a rich and sumptuous fragrance I could see myself wearing with suit and tie. There is a sweet medicinal quality to the opening which I do not find off-putting, in fact it is rather appealing. After that, like some others have mentioned, I have difficulty identifying the individual notes. But I find the merged result of all combined elements quite dazzling. Really smooth. I don't find it very green or foresty, to my nose.

Not at the top of my purchase list, but definitely something I would like to have in my wardrobe at some stage for work and formal occasions. A classy and sophisticated scent.

gelo999

It seems to me that B PH is a somewhat underrated fragrance, since under that smooth and simple appearance a wonderful fragrance daytime use, where the aroma maintains a timeless character, even say classic, but with a young heart hides beating with great force.

fresh and pleasant opening of bergamot that quickly evolves into a very aniseed aromatic according undeclared could be basil or anise that reaches the final drying and gives a very special character to B PH, various woods come with a note of pine marked and a soft leather very good quality for designer, at the start of the drying notice a slight imbalance when acting note a powerful ladano maintaining a tangy drunkenness composition and this can make it a little tiresome for sensitive noses, but without ever reaching the hot flash. All the combo produces a feeling of being in a high mountain forest surrounded by animals and large trees.

A whole new classic, with very good quality to be designer, who has positively surprised by the sharpness of its composition and hopefully not go unnoticed and become more fragrance.

Leathery aromatic typical Italian gentleness; smooth and kind, almost bit boring, but the pine accord save the grey mood and give spirit to the perfume. Likeable masculine juice for rainy but sunny days.

manos1965

The combination of pine, juniper berries, leather and labdanum is amazing and the quality is excellent.
I wish it had better projection and longevity.
One of the best recent releases.

raiza1990

My husband got a sample of this and did not liked it but i think it is quite good.
This is what i imagine a spanish or italian young businessman wearing while driving a sport car in the mountains. Tomas Meyer described this fragrance very well.
This one is masculine without being aggressive. it actually has a very nice sweet aroma in the drydown that i really enjoy.
Overall it´s modern, classy and cool. Something for a secure gentleman.

PINE! So good. In the house I grew up in, there was a big pine tree in the backyard so this scent hits close to home. It's so refreshing to have a modern release with pine being one of the primary notes. Thankfully, the leather note echoes in the base and does not interfere with the resinous forest-like nature of the scent. Thumbs up.

boulouboulou

Not convinced, too generic after a promising opening.
Too bad !

NickZee

Pine opening to die for, followed by a transcendent soapy leathery heart, no wonder this was highly regarded on release. A modern legend born, a must have for anyone's collection.

Vegas Pauli

Right off the bat, it instantly reminded me of the vintage Fendi Fendi Uomo! but this one is a little softer and a little more contemporary. Soft, spicy and elegant, this is a good one...and still for those longing for the classic and impossible to find Fendi and all of its spicy goodness, this one is an ideal replacement.

dolcethadon

I had been interested in trying this one out for a while but never came across it.. I finally happened to stumble into a beautiful bottle of this Bottega Veneta Pour Homme at Nordstoms, so I sprayed it on the tester strip.. After sniffing it out the sale assistant gave me a sample, so I wore it once I got the chance. Bottega Veneta opens up with a nice fresh coniferous blast of pine and juniper.. The pine really smells great in the opening, but soon the leather comes right in to take over.. The leather is there from top to bottom and it is what this scent is all about.. Once the top notes dry the scent warms up and gets a bit darker.. There is a nice fir note in the heart, some sage, and a decent amount of pimento which adds a spicy edge to the scent.. In the base there is some labdanum which adds a slight resinous vibe, some patchouli and of course the leather.. Bottega Veneta is another one of those scents that smells very classic but in a very modern way, and I love that! This is a very simple scent, it is kind of linear but it still does smell really nice.. I definitely could see Bottega Veneta being a great signature scent for a man that just wants to smell "good".. Very classy, very sophisticated, and very masculine.. I recommend Bottega Veneta to the men who appreciate classic fragrances but still want to smell modern, without smelling like your average aquatic or sweet sugar bomb.. This is a very good fragrance that deserves more attention than it is receiving.. I really do enjoy it!

Hassan Nasrallah

This is a modern way to present the old school of male perfumes , forgetting to focus on sillage and longevity .
It is really a nice perfume but not present u smell it on ur skin when u want but never from far .
Leathery touch made it tender and intimate and i believe this is the soul of the perfume .
Bottle itself is really classically elegant as always Bottega used to show .

edge42

Masculine class in a bottle. Ulusia said it best when they said this "reminds me of good taste". Harking back to some of our favorite masculine scents of the past but with a newfound modern edginess, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme is one of the most satisfying and interesting masculine releases in years. It's also one of the most wearable.

Boreal forests filled with pine and fir trees, accented by a fine leather note with traces of labdanum, citruses and a little patchouli are what I get from this. Not incredibly challenging or complex, but well executed and very pleasing. Imagine a leathery version of Tom Ford's excellent Italian Cypress sans the later amber drydown and you wouldn't be far off.

Some harp on this for it's strength, but I've never experienced performance issues - I wore this yesterday and applied to my clothes it was still going and projecting enough for me to get whiffs of it even 16 hours later. Projection is moderate, but longevity is excellent.

I should note that among non-fragrance heads this scent gets stellar ratings. It's a people pleaser similar to the way Bleu de Chanel is, but for many could be a much more unique and rebellious choice.

Thumbs up, definitely a try or buy.

I REALLY wish this lasted longer. I absolutely love the opening of this fragrance, but it disappears so quickly on me. Hoping for a reformulation or EDP version sometime soon to address the issue.

The_MiBo

I definitely get pine/fir/resin but no leather or patchouli. No matter. It smells beautiful but I have been a bit disappointed with the strength. However, wearing it yesterday and then going to the gym after work, mixed with a bit of sweat it started projecting like mad. Strange but pleasant experience.

Perfect now winter is on its way

Macassar

disappointing ....i love the feminine Bottega but with this masculine they did'nt take any risks ..and the perfume is rather boring . Not bad but not love at first sniff. A anemic Ralph Lauren's Polo ( green )

JoeMacchiato

Clean, classy, modern minimalism in a bottle. It's low key but confident. Definitely worth a try.

marioslg3

Checked this today and found it excellent....i love it....it's light, natural and very foresty. This is not a leather fragrance as i find it more towards pine and fir with some resinious light sweetness. I love this kind of perfumes that are not sweet or ending sweet after the initial foresty touch. You feel like you just cut and have on your schoulders a small fir as a christmas tree and the air is coming from the back.
Excellent, not strictly unique, mature fragrance

fresh_scents

This isn't the greatest fragrance, but it is the finest in my view. It's well blended, simple, and truly a quality product that does not scream, because it is too smooth for that. I will add it to my fragrance wardrobe one day.

isaacgames

Just wanted to drop a note.

A lady at the post office told me I smelled really good and asked me what I was wearing. That sealed it for me, I haven't been asked what cologne I'm wearing for a long time. Will buy it when I can.

This is a gentleman's fragrance. Not for clubbing or sport.

Arabian Knight

A boring peppery, pine needle scent.

Smells a bit like a Christmas tree air freshener hanging in a leather seated car.

SimplyOliver

Bottega Veneta pour Homme hasn't been easy to find, but I eventually got to sample it today. I had already read some good reviews in French, so I was definitely willing to put my nose on it.

It was a quite nice surprise: it starts off with a somehow herbaceous and spicy pine scent, to finally dry down into a sour and intense leather note with a very noticeable soapy feeling.

A classy, dark and heavy fragrance that is quite original actually. I do get a bit of the 'barbershop' vibe, common with some fragrances by Prada.

Sadly longevity is just average, sillage just fine. Besides, the bottle looks really good.

Overall, an interesting discovery.

spoombung

Dull, uninspired peppery pine and juniper scent with poor longevity and weak projection.

Ulusia

Leather note is the most dominant one and mingles with freshness of pine and juniper. It suits business/casual style and reminds me of good taste. I cannot imagine sb wearing sport clothes and this fragrance together.

sratansi

I love the smell but it has a very short longevity which for a £70 bottle is poor

CDGfan

Case and point of why not to buy a Coty fragrance.
This fragrance has horrendous projection and longevity. Also the smell is nothing to write home about. It reminded me of Pine air freshner you get a 711.

Melany99

I just have seen it in the store.
They (the Coty demo in the store) wanted to persuade me that is a high end fragrance. I really wondered if they think it, or just try to sell...
At first is very edgy, strong smell, which settle after a while, but nothing similar to an elegant, intelectual smell, which a have habit for luxury fragrances.
If they (Bottega Veneta)are good to sell leather, please stay there.
Don't go to an area, where you don't have any idea of it!

Marciu

OMG! Now I realised what it REALLY reminds me of.

It has some similar gourmand vibes with Code, but, it's a copy of Prada Luna Rossa Extreme to me.

wesleyhclark

At first I detected really nice woodsy notes that became smoky/leathery/piney - very pleasant! Promising! However, this phase lasted for all of about a half hour, then it got faint. I'm writing just over an hour after I sprayed it on, and I can barely smell it on my shirt. This stuff doesn't even last on fabric, let alone skin.

Bottega Veneta: I barely knew ye!

As another reviewer wrote, this has tragically bad projection and longevity. It's yet another timid fragrance in a market saturated with fragrances that don't project and don't last. Punch up the concentration a bit and maybe we'll have something to work with...

Marciu

Actually I started to like the fir in it. I like fir in perfumes, especially the fir resin.

Nevertheless I won't ever buy it because of its tragically bad projection and longevity.

Still, a pass.

thomasdegrave

It fades so quickly!

Marciu

I agree this is a boring fragrance - to me it smells like Armani's Code with a little bit addition of pine, fir and juniper. Kinda' like "Code in the forest" or something.
Longevity is very poor - 2-3 hours and it quickly fades away. Sillage is poor as well.
The price of this fragrance in my country is very high and I totally don't understand this.

A pass. Not worth even sniffing out, actually...

rttoronto

*YAWN*
BORING. They should have stuck with an independant perfumer intead of going with Coty Prestige. This juice is as cookie-cutter as it gets.

blaiseantoine

i ve tested this frag today ,very very disappointing perfume ,quite ethereal no projection and sillage at all . i don't see any reason to buy a perfume that nobody even myself can dedect after 5 minutes i spray it on my skin

This one is a nice and elegenat all-purpose fragrance: It suits grown-up men but can also be worn by youngsters, it is neither displaced at the opera nor at the office, and it is suitable for all seasons. Maybe more elegant than loud, but nevertheless a reliable companion on all occasions.

I though I'd reviewed this a while ago, but perhaps not on this site. On paper, this seemed to carry some interest in that it smelled more complex that the standard mall fragrances (a resinous, leathery thing). On skin, though, it was absolutely horrendous: plastic-y juniper berries over a sort of sweaty, vegetal sawdust-over-vomit accord. The women's version was excellent, but this was an herbal, chemical nightmare on me. With that said, I think the blend itself was the main problem as I simply can't stand the kind of coniferous chemicals it's using. Stomach-turning, I'm afraid.

If it's culinary herbs you're after, look to O'Driú instead.

scenturian

First impression candy-store :) I don't mean sweet.
Btw pine is the most dominant note.

Panerai2211

Very nice fragrance, soft elegant but longevity and silage are not very good.(moderate)

BenBnBe

OMG!!It`s smells soooooo goood,a want it,it`s beautiful, i love it,and bottle is just gorgeous!!
Perfect for fall or winter, looove it......

This is, dare I say it, a possible offspring of Patou Pour Homme.

For those of you who don't know what Patou Pour Homme is - it's a highly sought-after vintage men's fragrance that is greatly regarded and revered in the fragrance community, and known for being a truly unique smell, fetching extremely high prices on eBay.

Now, Patou Pour Homme is still unique in its own right, but some of that DNA is here. Bottega Veneta Pour Homme is a lovely modern chypre, which could have been expected perhaps, since Bottega Veneta (women's) is a gorgeous old-fashioned female chypre. Whoever is deciding to market the fragrances for this house must love chypres.

Alright, so as I was saying, we have, at least to me, a masculine chypre here, and a chypre by nature is based on the accord bergamot-labdanum-oakmoss, or more generally, citrus-resin-oakmoss. There isn't any oakmoss in the ingredients, and I don't get any citrus, but I don't necessarly need to, as the "chypre" smell itself leaps out of the bottle at me, a sort of cross between Halston Z-14 and Kiehl's Pour Homme Essence Oil. And, believe it or not, the Aramis comparison below isn't *too* farfetched.

So where does this compare to Patou Pour Homme? There's a musty, almost medicinal pine/fir note combined with a gorgeous, resinous, somewhat chocolatey labdanum which immediately brought Patou to mind for me. Granted, it's not as complex (Patou Pour Homme is an oriental chypre), and this one is definitely more "modernized", but it's quite fascinating how the two compare. Also thrown in is a very plush, very subtle but sort of birch tar-smelling leather that is very lovely. Much like Patou Pour Homme, and most well-done masculine chypres, Bottega Veneta Pour Homme gets even better as it dries down throughout the day, even prompting me to sniff my arm and think "My God, what did I put on that smells so good?"

So anyway, designer men's fragrances, in my opinion, has been a kind of stagnant market lately, not so much in sales but in ingenuity and originality. While I can compare Bottega Veneta Pour Homme to other fragrances, it's still a nice change of pace - a fine, quality modern masculine chypre and a perfect counterpart to the women's one. And it's not a substitute to Patou Pour Homme by any means, but it's nice to smell scads of Patou Pour Homme in there regardless.

Dunno if I'd buy a bottle, but I definitely think it's worth trying. Fellas, if you want an idea of a decent masculine chypre smells like, here's your contender.

jhitt793

Opens with a blast of coniferous splendor. Beautiful blending of Siberian pine and Balkan juniper, with an added brightness via Calabrian bergamot. If this sounds like it could border on smelling like "Christmas-in-a-bottle", you are correct. Fortunately it doesn't, with the perfume artist(s) steering clear of this connotation in the dry down. Clary sage lends herbal edge, along with the lush Canadian fir note. The said Jamaican pepper note is lost on me as I was unable to perceive it. Leather is subtle, but balances out the overwhelmingly verdant accord of the aforementioned conifers. Labdanum offers a balsam-like note, which is slightly ambery in the drydown. Overall this is a nice scent, evoking a woodsy outdoors grandeur. I myself love the smell of freshly pruned juniper, cedar, pine (etc.) so for me this fragrance was a win. My only perceivable complaint would be its quick dry down time (wishing the opening juniper/pine accord lasted a slight bit longer!), which renders the scent quite low on silage. Wouldn't mind owning it as a body wash/shower gel as I imagine it would be quite refreshing. (105)

WildDove

I'm surprised lavender is not among the notes as it's what I perceive mostly. I have the women's Bottega Veneta and like it a lot, but don't get much leather in the men's version. Light, generic, but pleasant. I'm underwhelmed. I was hoping for more pine, fir, and leather.

Houdini4

Reminds me a little of a flat I used to live in...a kind of very 'new' smell maybe it's the leather (I don't find it very leathery BTW) & pine?
The patchouli and florals in this are delicate and it makes for a really nice fragrance to be honest and although it's soft it's quite long lasting.
I like it...just not sure about getting it incase it wouldn't be something I would wear.
Update: I got masses of sample vials and have worn this a few times now and each time I like it a little more but it's still nothing special.
The feel of it (not necessarily the smell or notes) remind me of ultra clean soapy fragrances like Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. I'd put this in the category of a fragrance which seems well conceived to be honest but a little anonymous, I mean it's never going to set the world alight.

armaniboy

All of us have certain memories...when I first smelled it from the bottle it smelled like wet leather.a smell after someone has swam in a pool.skin smell.Wet in a very interesting way. There is something in this that smells SEXY.not dirty.inviting. The slightly floral heart notes reminded me of the women's version which I really like.I found this one to be similar to BANG Marc Jacobs and DKNY MEN the latest more macho version.Anyhow longevity and silage are very, very good.highly recommended!

freddiefingers

I really looked forward to this having tried the women's version last year and liking it.I was expecting a lot more from this but I was left underwhelmed.

This is a very light take on leather. On my skin this projected for about 3 hours after which it became a skin scent.the only way to get by with this is to apply a lot more.Since it's light you can get away with it.You might want to top up by spraying into clothes as well.I will not recommend this for winter but on cool spring days and evenings and in autumn. Will do well for dates or romantic encounters and other classy events where restraint may be the norm.
usually most scents I try in shops or own last more than 24hrs on test strips.this lasted about 4 hours before whimpering away.
The presentation(bottle) is stellar but scent fails to project and last as I had hoped.Don't look to this for your leather fix....keep looking. The women's version holds more promise.Don't get me wrong it's a classy scent but just too muted to do this full justice.thank God for the pimento, does help hold this up well into drydown

I can see the connection with Coriolan in the opening but clearly this is a more refined and restrained version of the much austere macho Coriolan.

ravjan

I'm a bit disappointed with it. Expectations were high and it somehow didn't live up. I mean it's not a bad scent. It's ok. But just ok. Plenty of juniper then smoky leather follows. For me too dry, too harsh. The longevity and projection are mediocre. I much prefer the female version.

AmoreProfumi

Just finally got to test this today @ Nordies...I seen it all lined up on the shelves I was sooo excited to test it, but gasp! there was no tester, luckily one of the SA's told me he has some samples so he gave me a couple. Now I will say up front that if you don't like this scent @ first i'm sure it will grow on you eventually, When I sprayed it on the paper all I got was a blast of pine && fir which made my nose curl a lil...which made me say "It smells like I'm picking out x-mas trees"...having that be my first impression I immediately tossed the strip in the trash shoved the samples in pocket && went on my way...

It wasn't until I got home when I remembered the samples in my pocket...so I said you know lets give it another chance having not testing it out on my skin I gave myself a spray on my wrist &&...WOWIE!! it changed everything (with this one skin really is the true test) It turned into something far more beautiful still picking up the piney tones though it went from picking out trees to a the scent of a lovely brisk breeze in damp woods...the dry down is the true stunner I pick up all the main notes the leather the pine the labdanum they all interact harmoniously on the skin creating a refined classy and appealing scent, which to my nose the more it drys down the more it becomes reminiscent of a really expensive soap. It also might I add hints at its female counterpart in a way when I merely caugh subtle wafts it. Where Bottega femme is dominant in oakmoss, bottega homme is dominant in woods, they both share that earthy like quality.

I'd say if you're interested in this scent I would deff. try to find a way to test it on skin it really gives this scent more justice. Longevity is pretty decent I got I say 6 good hours then it started to fade out && Sillage is brilliant, my mom could smell it she said every time I walked past her, perfectly suitable for anytime use in those colder months. I'd say IMO Bottega PH kinda leans a lil to the mature side, but I'm sure this would be safe for any age at least maybe 25 up or for someone who respects finer scents I'm 23 && I like it a great deal, to think though I almost snubbed it, lol shame on me. Don't think I'd buy it for myself but I deff. see it as a great gift for my dad this x-mas. :)

Overall: 8/10

Riverwide

Surprised to read the negative reviews so far. For me, this is a beautifully soft, incredibly elegant leather and light floral scent. It somehow manages to be both fresh and warm at the same time. Not a powerhouse by any means, but I don't think that was ever the intention. This is a quietly confident, restrained fragrance. The longevity is actually above average, especially on clothing where it remains quite strong, even after many hours.

This is hands down my favourite men's release of the past couple of years. I genuinely couldn't praise it highly enough.

lovescully

I am rarely as dissapointed in a new release as I am with this one. After being very taken with the original Bottega Venetta marketed to women, I was really looking forward to their take on a perfume marketed towards men.

At first I was immediately remined of the classic Aramis, but a much more subdued version. After about an hour it still hadn't developed into much more than just that; a tame and (very) weak version of Aramis.

I think I'll just go ahead and buy a bottle of the women's version.

Ninalin92

I got this one for my boyfriends because i am in with this smell. My boyfriend doesn't use perfumes a lot and he is very fussy of choosing a right bottle of perfumes but i got him buying this bottle as he likes it too.. Yay!
This is juz so attractive and elegant. Most of others men's perfumes smells too strong that easy to make my feel headache. But this bottle isn't. It's light and elegent but also very manly and attractive ^.^

Michael1962

Tabarome that should read

Michael1962

Very disappointing,I am unable to smell any of the notes listed above clearly individually or in unison. No refreshing or bracing bergamot opening nor spicy pepper nor distinct juniper hum nor patchouli for that matter and if there is a leather base note it is also undetectible. This fragrance became a pleasant smelling (read nice) and inoffensive skin scent within 20 minutes on my skin.Hardly the experience you want for AUD $145 for the 90 ml bottle.Strangely David Jones had none for sale,as per their catalogue, until 18th August. Also why in this day and age for a supposed niche fragrance for men making its debut is it listed as EDT and not EDP?Doesnt show any foresight. If you are wanting a pleasant skin scent which disipates close to the skin within 30 minutes well this is the one for you.For mine this is a watered down version of Creed's Tabarone and I wont be buying it.
