Milk + Commodity
(vial test, thank you)

Very modern sandalwood interpretation,
Creamiest sandalwood almost no bark aspect.
Support with very lactonic gourmand edge, sweeter than excepted.

Milky Marshmallows in the woods!

ghoulish.loser

i love this scent. i tried it at sephora a few days ago and i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. im not normally one for musky or marshmallow scents as they are normally too harsh for me but they surprisingly work amazing together here. it starts off musky with a hint of cherry but dries down to a lovely marshmallow note that isn’t sickly sweet (with a little bit of that cherry still peaking through). on the tester, it was very nice and feminine but on my skin, it actually leans a little more masculine (which is really cool and a happy accident lol)

edit: the longer it’s on the skin, the more it reminds me a bit of christian siriano intimate silhouette

recris92

Which one is sweeter and more long lasting?Milk Bold or Milk Expressive?

Nataliemarie

@WoodsyFreshy, No, that is Javanol. Sandalwood. This isn't a sandalwood scent.

WoodsyFreshy

Does it smell similar to Molecule 04 ? Any commodity?

Woodsygal

I was very intrigued by the mix of cream and woodsy spice, and to my surprise, it works very well. The result is a very comforting smell that I can't quite describe. Brings memories of campfires with friends and family to mind, with childhood nostalgia for roasting marshmallows while sipping hot chocolate. But the scent somehow remains sexy and grown-up?

It's very hard for me to find marshmallow scents that aren't too sweet or cloying; I think this fragrance has the perfect blend, though still leaning sweet. Many of my favourite woodsy/spicy/smokey scents lean masculine, so it's nice to have one that feels a bit more feminine (but still entirely unisex imo).

One of my new favourites.

qianqian

I cannot resist the woody / smoky profile usually. Mix it with lactonic? Seriously? Turned out the mix was quite OK. Milk is not literal, but I get the solid white milky fog atmosphere of this one. This one is more smoky than its 2 siblings and lasts longer. Love it. Commodity is also doing great channels and marketing in Australia, too. I've added a FB of Milk + to my wishlist.

K8lo

The entire Commodity Milk line has a special place in my heart. All of them are very similar and retain the same DNA but each has its own twist.

Milk+ (Bold) is my least favorite HOWEVER it is still a 10/10 remarkable fragrance.
Milk Bold is campfire smoke. It's less marshmallow and more focused on the smokey, sensual wood. It's still sweet, creamy and lactonic. But this one leans on a more prominent woody note as the star. Deep mahogany & cedar with rich amber. This one, out of the three, is more unisex / leans more masculine. Milk Bold would be phenomenal for someone who likes the Expressive Milk but finds it a bit too cloying or sweet.

Lasts forever on clothes & projects SO strongly. Milk Bold is a beast and will definitely garner attention everywhere you go! Even though this one is my least favorite, I would still be thrilled to receive it as a gift. I just loved Milk- and Milk for the milky marshmallow notes better. Dont sleep on Milk Bold though she is a smokey knockout!

AnniePruana

Milk Expressive was too woody/spicy although I did get the sweetness too, the play of woody and sweet didn't work for me. This one, supposedly bolder isn't bold to me, it's creamy, has more depth than any fragrance I have experienced, it's comforting, slightly smoky and a great layering scent or on it's own.

Chloerose666

This was my first foray into lactonic frags and what better way to start? In at the deep end haha!

This is a milky musky skin scent, its got depth and I really loved this. It did something totally different on my skin to what it did on clothing and I enjoyed both. I sprayed this on my PJs because on clothes its lovely, musky and milky.

On my skin its borderline like BR540... I don't think it smells similar really except the amber vibes, but it definitely shares a certain DNA with it, being rich and creamy and also sort of hard to place/work out at first. Settles down into a lovely musky milky toasting marshmallow sort of vibe... as you can see I'm a big fan :)

Lasts about 5 days and counting on the jumper of my PJs haha and put in a good performance (8-12 hours) with good sillage (5-6 hours) on skin.

This is just pure comfort in a bottle. I adore the way this smells, the lactonic woody smokey marshmallow calms my soul down. When I've had a rough day I always seek to this one when I come home. Its in my top 5 fragrance for life and I wish I could smell this around me for the rest of my life.
I am on a mission to buy everything similar to this no matter the price.
If this ever get discounted I will fall into depression.
That is how mush I adore this fragrance.

jasmine27

this scent is very interesting. it’s sweet, woody and creamy. nice to the enviroment. i want the whole bottle!

ciaramyrea

this is a little too woody and “dry” for my liking. the expressive version is a little easier to wear imo. if the expressive is too feminine for you this might work better! performance and sillage is great! worth picking up for fall/winter :’)

meemz22

This smells like cologne to me. It’s a little sweet but mostly woody and has a something in it that smells like listerine or menthol cigarettes. To me, it leans more masculine. The same goes for Milk Expressive and Personal. Idk why this is in so many marshmallow perfume recommendations saying as any little hint of marshmallow in these fragrances is overpowered by sugar coated pencil shavings. Too masc for my tastes.

lavendermenace

By the Fireplace's little sister. That's the best way I can describe it. It definitely grew on me because it's a lot deeper than milk, but it's like s'mores in such a good way.

Michelle12345678

This is hard to describe. Definitely woody. Dries down to a soft sweetness. It's the long part in between that is hard to put a finger on. I feel like as Milk- and Milk were alike, Milk+ is different.

MistyDayyy

This is an interesting scent. I feel like the notes aren’t completely accurate — or at least I’m not picking up on most of them. I definitely feel like this is more of a male scent. It smells like another cologne that I can’t think of right now. It’s very strong! It’s primarily a woody scent, but I also got bits of amber and smoke. It’s faintly sweet too. It’s definitely a cozy scent. Personally, it’s way too strong for me.

Sensoryissues99

I had no idea this was Supposed to be a creamy scent. Why because the scent is so sharp to me and strong.

Dmiddy

Doesn’t seem milky or marshmallow-y to me. This is an incense scent, and not a particularly notable one if you already have versions in your fragrance wardrobe.

rene.saller

I received a 5-ml sprayer of Milk+--"Scent Space Bold: for Me and Everyone Else"--and it's lovely, but I will probably pass it along to a friend before I use much more of it. It does seem to be very potent, and the fragrance is quite wonderful, but I already have my beloved Guerlains, and those satisfy my need for smoky vanilla notes, mostly. I think I will give this to a friend who absolutely adores Cloud, which this reminds me of a bit. Pretty marshmallow vanilla with enough of a woody-amber base to keep it from seeming insipid. The perfume hoarder side of me wants to keep it because I enjoy the way the smoky vanilla curls up around the white cedar, like a sleepy cat; I also appreciate the way it smells kind of clean despite being a sugary gourmand. But I don't need this right now because I have other options that I prefer--doesn't mean it's not a perfectly lovely perfume. I'm just at a point where I need to streamline my collection to Loves only--even then I won't get around to most of them in a given season.

This reminds me a bit of a cross between OG Jovan Musk and Vanilla Fields. That sounds like an insult, but it isn't. Chances are that if you spray Milk+ (or Jovan Musk and Vanilla Fields, for that matter) on your body, your partner will find it sexier than most of your fancy Frederic Malle or Serge Lutens options. I also get a nice caramel note that complements the cedar beautifully and reminds me ever so slightly of Candy (possibly because of the musks).

Jujas

Ok so first and foremost? I have NEVER experienced such a long lasting fragrance. It was so intense I actually had to change clothes towards the end of the day. Yes. It’s THAT potent.

I started out sampling Milk Expressive and really enjoyed it, but just felt like it was missing something. So Milk+ entered the chat, confessed it was the love baby of Milk Ex and BTFP and then proceeded to hug me and NEVER let go. With its smokey lactonic marshmallow charm how could I possibly resist?? Well I didn’t. I bought a FB and we’ve been frenemies since.

True story.

LMD

Not for me. Too strong and I found it nauseating. To me it smells like burning wood with an unpleasant underlying sweetness, it was pretty acrid. Like marshmallows on a wooden stick that have caught fire and burnt to a cancerous cinder. Longevity is insane I could still smell it the next day so the quality is there it was just too much for me. By the Fireplace has a similar vibe but is infinitely more wearable in my opinion. I would be interested to smell the personal version of milk though and see how they compare.

Iltes1226!

Whatever synthetic is in this smells like turpentine or Tilex or something on me. It’s sharp, unpleasant, and smells toxic, with an undercurrent of crappy synthetic marshmallow. One of the worst scents I’ve ever tried.

corvid.joys

Sephora had a travel size of this and omg this smells amazing. I don’t like marshmallow scents because they come off super sweet but this is just right for me. I almost want this for my partner because it smells so good and they like gourmand scents but the woodiness is so divine. I need to go back and possibly pick it up again.
Edit: I got it and it smells pretty similar to By the Fire place by MM but more woody I definitely think my partner would love this scent a lot

bigbang9539

For some reason, this one comes off sweeter to me than Milk Expressive! I was pleasantly surprised by Milk Bold! It's very cozy, addictive, and a true compliment getter. The woody notes round out the marshmallow and milk notes PERFECTLY. Such a well balanced fragrance.

binny22

beautiful delicious teddy grahams in the opening and then very warm and cozy

edit: now that the weather is getting warmer, i can’t wear this anymore, but when i’m going through my closest i’ll get a whiff of it from my winter sweaters and literally feel euphoric.

happy_panda_

i’ve learned i hate smokey woody scents. this was way too strong, i sprayed it once and could still smell it in the room hours later. to me it’s very masculine and just way too much it gave me a headache 😭

mschnabel666

Oh I hated Milk Expressive so much in warm Fall, that I got angry. It was a lovely gift from my husband but damn it was awful- gooey sugary soiled milk- so thick and strong.
Winter rolled around- and Milk Expressive turned into a guilty pleasure that doesn't make me sick (lol).
I started to crave it like a drug. So I bought Bold.
And it's sooo much better. No love-hate guilty pleasure here- it's just THICK and wood-ier without the sweetness suffocating me. I love this.
I'll prob cry from it once Spring rolls around, but Upper Michigan winters last 6 mo. This is still a very thick SWEET gourmandy marshmallow on me, it's just done so much better. Not as strong as the Expressive actually.

YourFragranceFriend

I had to try this several times before it clicked with me. I was expecting a milky scent more like Dedcool Milk/Xtra Milk. Something more sweet, musky, and smooth. Instead, this scent opened woody and spicy. I was immediately thrown due to how far off it was from my expectations. Commodity Campfire?

I realized it reminds me of a lighter By the Fireplace. They share the same woody, spiced, sweet notes with the sharp and scratchy edge. There's nothing milky about it. By the Fireplace can be cloying if it's not really cold weather so this could be a good fragrance if you want that scent but want to wear it for more of the year.

I will say, I found it to be just ok at first I prefer it's deep drydown that I get when I put my coat on the day after wearing this fragrance. I'm now at the end of my 5ml trial spray and I can upgrade it to a "like". I found it easy to reach for and was a great scent for staying home and feeling cozy as well as getting it on my winter coat so the cozy feel extended to that.

lizziapple

I'm trying so hard to test this and fall in love after blind buying, but so far it just hurts my nose and my head.

Edit: I am selling my bottle because no amount of days attempting to wear this thing is doing it justice. Tried to paw it off on my brother and him walking into the room with it on made me want to gag. The marshmallow / milk notes go away in 2 seconds and your left with wood ashes and degenerate nightclub stench. 1 Star for how obnoxiously long it lasts, had to wash my favorite hoodie 2 times to fully get the smell out. I'm very happy for everyone who loves it, but so so sad for myself.

Esna

The marshmallow in this is warm and toasty, frothy milk, slightly guormandish but not sickly sweet at all. More campfire wood than just woody like the regular MILK. So imagine the regular MILK but just hot, warm, toasted.

trainspotting_

Blind bought a few commodity 10ml bottles, and Milk+ Bold is definitely my favorite of the bunch. It's very creamy, and I could see how some might think it's a bit too sweet upon first spraying it, but I personally think the woody, smoky scent balances it out quite nicely as it dries down.

honeybunny1977

By far this is the most cozy fun cold weather fragrance I have acquired all year. I had not tried Commodity before and did this as a blind buy based on reviews. Its right up my alley! This is rich, decadent, full of marshmallow and milky notes. I love the chunky bottle and magnetic cap. The cashmere makes it even more delicious! I compare this to going to the ice cream parlour on Saturday night with your sweetie and ordering a rich, creamy, sweet ice cream sundae dripping with marshmallow topping. I personally dont get smoky fireplace vibes on me. Must like "bold" sweet scents to wear this one! Digging it.

fivefivefive

Milk+ is the first perfume I've sampled that has a campfire smell. I love woody scents in a healthy, natural, and green type of way—but this burnt wood smells heavy, heady, and man-made. It's not green, it's grey.

I get a little spice and creaminess, but not enough to tone down the burning scent. I tried pairing Milk+ with a sugar-scented body lotion to pull more sweetness out of it, but I still got overpowering, nasally smoke. Kinda like fumes.

The longer it sits, the spicier it gets. It's not a warm spice like cinnamon, maybe a fresh spice from the wood notes. Milk+ becomes more enjoyable when the milk dies down (it's too sour on me) and I'm left with spice, smoke, and woodiness.

It lasts a long time on skin and clothes. I sniffed my sweater the next day and got a blast of smoke with spoiled milk. The scent is so thick that I can actually feel it get "stuck" in my nose hairs...if that makes sense.

Mira J

Milk+ and Milk- are my favs.

Milk bold is Milk expressive, but make Expressive more smooth, add sweet amber and roast the marshmallow. Milk expressive dried down screechy on my skin for some reason and whatever that is, Milk bold removed it and made the scent more transformative and complex. I get creamy, woody, roasted marshmallow and warm amber...so good. The performance of expressive and bold are very similar to me (long lasting), it's more of a matter of choosing which scent you prefer.

sunmara

I may have to test Milk Expressive again because I enjoyed Bold a lot more. I think the extra woodiness of Bold helps balance out the sweetness from the milk and marshmallows. I found the Expressive more nauseating, but I could see myself occasionally wearing Bold. Not sure if any Milk is full bottle worthy though, and neither one should be worn in warm weather.

isabellele

I absolutely love this, it smells like toasty woody marshmallow. Unfortunately for me the lasting power is terrible. Fades to a skin scent on me within an hour.

candpa

I have both expressive and bold. Have to say bold has my whole heart ♥️

I find that the opening is a bit synthetic smelling for me, however shortly after in the dry down is where the magic happens and Bold is so warm, sweet and cozy.
I didn’t think it projects that well, and I can’t smell it on myself too much, but twice in the last week I was asked what I was wearing and that they could smell my perfume as soon as they entered the house.

Definitely my signature, everyday cozy warm scent.

CustardBunny

Amber, firewood, oriental spice, synthetic marshmallow, Hookah Pipe/Vape Pen (<- strongest)

I'm kind of dissapointed in the commodity Milk line, I was expecting so much more.. fullfillness of milk and cream, and instead each perfume just got stronger and stronger "MAN" scented😅 It was just so much, too much, priental spice and feels like stepping into an arabic hooka shop. Not a blind buy! If anything id go for the Milk – personal space, because its so light and doesnt make u as dizzy as the others.

PerfumedParrot

This stood-out from the Commodity line as the most interesting. Book was too pickley (gherkiny), Paper was a ISO-E Super bomb but Milk seemed comforting. I’m not a gourmand fan nor can I tolerate sweet vanilla scents, but this is quite charming. After spraying it twice on my neck my colleague asked “why does it smell like donuts in here?” as apparently it smelled like “cinnamon” around me. So sillage is great and it seems to last. It is slightly reminiscent of This Is Her but this more unisex. If ‘comforting sponge cake’ was a fragrance note, then this is it.

Goldena35

Spicy to me at first spray…in a great way. I am guessing it is from the cedar. I don’t pick up alot of amber. This is definitely creamy spicy and woody for me. Surprised by it. Would smell fabulous on a man IMO. I want my chunky scarf to smell this way over the winter. Even though this is a little off balance on me it is cozy and enjoyable.I have a tester of the original and am interested to see how they compare.

EDIT: just put some BBW Cozy Vanilla Bourbon lotion on my hands and WOW they smell good together. Don’t hate on the lotion it’s very nice ☺️

OTA Mom

Too bad the woodiness overrides the marshmallow aspect, the top notes should be rebalanced. This is a neck nuzzling, you-smell-so-good kind of scent.

sophiakzi

Enormous, overwhelming. A sweetened milk and firewood scent that projects for hours and hours.

anngelica

Dense, comforting and sooo delicious… Milk+ by commodity evokes fragrant wood soaking in sweet milk. You seem to be soaking in a soothing tub of the most beautiful things from your childhood yourself: marshmallow, milk, musk standing for baby powder… The fragrance is quite straightforward, but sometimes there are days when avoiding any redundant complexity is the best solution.
IG: perfumepassione

TLight

If you have ever smelled the candle from Bath & Body Works called Marshmallow Fireside- this is crazy similar to that, with a hint of musk. I have read every review I can find of Milk+ just to see someone else make this comparison, and I guess I’m gonna have to be the first to do so. It’s toasted marshmallows, burning woods, smoky vanilla and amber. What’s not to love? Perfect fall/ winter scent. 10/10

mmiamuse

I have seen many comparisons to By The Fireplace. I can smell similarities but they are definitely different to me. Replica - BTFP is a smoky and woody fragrance on my skin that reminds me of toasting marshmallows on a campfire! I don't get that from Milk+. Just imagine you're in the woods sitting on a tree stump drinking warm sweet milk with cinnamon. That is what Milk+ smells like to me. It's heavier and stronger than Milk Expressive and leans more masculine in my opinion. I have both Milk+ and Milk Expressive but right now I find myself reaching for Milk Expressive a little more than Milk+. I feel like you could wear this in the evening and Milk Expressive during the day. They both smells so good!

feuermaiden

This is lovely and I really enjoyed it, but if you have By The Fireplace and love it, this one’s not necessary to have. Milk + is slightly more milky and lactonic than woody and smoky, but they give too much of the same marshmallow campfire vibe for me to justify having both. And I loooove my BTF and will always have it. I prefer the smoke over the milk.

8/10

Summerrteeth

The top notes of marshmallow really threw me off - I wanted to love this scent but didn’t like it on first meeting. I gave it a second chance and loved it. After it has really settled the milk and amber really shine. It smells like skin, but better. It also feels so warm, reminds me of those huge blanket scarves that were really trendy last winter. Very unique and feels like a really fun everyday choice.

sophiakzi

Stronger than I expected. A sweet, warm milk. Very pleasant and compliment catching.

AMcK

Sticky, heavy, warm, melted sugar and very leathery suede-like mix. I can smell the same leather in JHaG "not a perfume", even though both are totally different perfumes. You may like it, if you're more into sweet, reather than a fresh fragrances,

cbarbee

I wanted to love this, but it smells like if I spilled spicy milk on top of a burnt log. I could see how someone would like this but it’s not for me.

larabk

This is sweet, woody, and spicy. I would love this on a man, but it really is a unisex gourmand

kisamisa

so so so sweet. slightly smoky smores with some deeper woods. i find this to be a bit too sweet for my liking, and so i like milk expressive more, but i find this to be a bit more lactonic. definitely a purchase i'll make soon (either the travel size or a FB), but i'd be a bit more excited to buy it if the longevity was better on my skin.

littlefang

Very woody and strong, but pleasant. Definitely a winter scent though!!

eaudeeve

Smells like a cheap men’s aftershave, lactonic but in an expired milk kind of way. Some sour notes, too heavy on the woods. The initial spray is off putting due to the firewood but if you’re patient enough to let it dry down it isn’t too bad. I wouldn’t blind buy a full bottle of this, just get a discovery set.

SuddenlySpring

I was so excited to smell this, but on me it's Cedar in all caps! Wouldn't come off, either. A little bit headache-inducing. I really hate cedar though.

Marie0189

This opens up superrrr sweet, and I loved it however the powdery dry down is wayyyyy to overpowering and unappealing to me. If the sweet scent lasted longer than 1 hour, I'd say this perfume was worth the price but once it settled on my skin it's straight powder.

Seaknees

Definitely not for me. The scent was very cloying and heavy from the combination of marshmallow and woody notes. This just felt overwhelming. Maybe Marshmallow just isn't for me.

I have to give credit to the lasting power though. I attempted to wash it off, I even went as far as to use rubbing alcohol, and I could still smell it on me after.

AisLilly

I absolutely adore this - got the Milk exploration kit and I think purchased this within a week. To me this really is milky and not-too-sweet marshmallows over smoky woods with a really nice cedar and musk touch. My boyfriend wears this all the time too and we both get compliments.

While I love Oriana and LDBS, they sometimes get a bit too sweet for me, but I find the woods pare back the sweetness of this to a balance I find really delicious.

GideonGladwell

I was randomly sniffing at Sephora and expected to hate this, but I did a double-take. It smells to me like hot cinnamon rolls, nasty syrupy delicious ones. I typically find Marshmallow/Overly Sugary formulations like Kilian LDBS/Pink Sugar/BR540 to be gut-wrenchingly gross, but this one is just warm and nice. The woody notes were not there for me until hours later; they have kindof a nice dusty old feel to them when they appear. I also appreciate that this company has each frag available in 3 strengths. It reminds me a bit of Tiziana Terenzi ‘Al Contrario’, except that Al Contrario goes stale rather quickly and this does not

Edit: IDK what I was thinking the day I smelled this. I got the travel size and it is linear, cloying and kinda boring. There’s not a lot of life to it. Although, it does seem to layer nicely with a surprising number of things.

EmpressVision

Per Commodity, this is supposed to have a "firewood accord" but none came across to me. I read all the reviews and took in all the hype. Got the Commodity Exploration set to see what the fuss was all about. I wanted to love this. I wanted to smell like the sweetness of marshmallows mixed with amber. I got no woods. I got no smokiness. Just vibes that screamed support knee highs, patent leather purse filled with Brach peppermints and Werthers butterscotch and Bible study every Tuesday and church twice on Sunday.

Sabinaaaa99

way too woody for my liking. didn’t get much milk and marshmallow, so i’m a little disappointed. not a bad scent, just not what i was expecting

eaudeghostie

This is super sharp at first and burns my nostrils, but it turns into a woody scent within an hour. This is not what I wanted from a scent called Milk...totally my fault for not double-checking the notes but this should not be called Milk when it smells like a forest. I'm not big on woody scents so this is a pass for me.

Lykopa

This is just woody, and kind of sweet. And maybe a bit herby. It’s musky, like a more masculine version of regular milk. The more I smell it the more I like it. The woody notes work really well.

whimsic at heart

I wanted to love this and I tried multiple times! It’s so harsh and sharp on my skin. I enjoy the initial sweet, but within milliseconds it feels like something is stabbing inside my nose :(. All of them are like this (personal, expressive and bold). I’d go for Gold, but there’s other scents that suit me better.

PC622

On my skin, it's a sharp, powdery wood. It's so sharp, it burns my nose and makes my eyes itch. I think I might be allergic to it. It also reminds me of Liis Bo, but I prefer Bo

ScentJunkie5366

I got a decant of this and didn't care for it, at first but as I wore it throughout the day I liked it more and more. The next day, I wore it again and really liked it. By day 3, I was in love. It's a beautiful, complex, sweet but woody, laconic gourmand fragrance that is unisex but leans feminine, on me at least. I bought a bottle on day 4.
I would definitely love to smell this on a man. I would probably follow him anywhere! This fragrance has excellent projection and staying power. Most fragrances don't seem to last on me but this one is one of the very few that do.
It's a huge compliment getter, too. Huge!

scottwhittlejunk

Just had a sample of this and it smells exactly like Paco rabanne 1 million priv'e . It's nice but disappointed as I thought it may be different

terrapin-tank

if you already have This Is Her, you don’t need this.

cecilysmells

Cloyingly sweet and really woody :(

pamchi

I love love love this fragrance, I always get SO many compliments when I wear this fragrence, I just can't stop smelling myself when I spray it, I am addicted to it!! <3 <3 <3

saltingsmells

the sillage on this perfume is insane - one of the longest lasting formulas i own by far. very creamy and definitely a gourmand, this scent is a lot of what it claims to be and not much else. perhaps a bit muskier than your traditional creamy vanilla, but i love that about it. got this in a tester kit and it made me smile all day because it was so powerful and sweet without being offensive.

klioux

This is thick, opaque, melted marshmallow heavy cream. It's certainly decadent and lactonic, but compared to the Expressive version it's a little too much so for me. It feels like a rich dessert approaching its expiration date.

YLC629

This is really nice but on me, it's exactly the same as the expressive version, which I own.

jlitingtun

So yes I did start with a tester, and yes I did buy a full bottle because it was on sale, but the longevity is, frankly, terrible on me. The sillage is okay—not as bold as the + would indicate—for as long as fragrance lasts, but it doesn't really. I've tried it fresh out of the shower, on damp skin, on moisturized skin, I've tried mixing a spritz into my moisturizer, I've tried spraying and then moisturizing. No dice. Even in hair and on clothing, it disappears quickly. That makes the price extortionate in my opinion, but damn if I don't still really enjoy her.

Milk+ reads like a big tonka bean bomb on my skin, and I love tonka bean. It's comforting, sweet, fluffy. I wouldn't call it milky or lactonic, especially when I compare it to, say, Chabaud's Lait Concentre. This is more vanilla-tonka marshmallow. There are hints of wood and amber, but they're third-stringers at best. I also don't get much smoke but there is, weirdly enough, a faintly fruity note somewhere in this juice—no idea what though and I haven't seen anyone else mention this, but there's a hint of something jammy to my nose when I apply it on my skin. Milk+ doesn't develop into anything more complicated than that, but is sufficiently well-composed that I feel comfortable wearing it without worrying it's too young and immature of a scent.

Look, she's not not a complex, deep, rich fragrance by any means of the imagination, but that doesn't mean she's not enjoyable. Milk+ is straightforward and approachable the way vanilla ice cream is straightforward and approachable. Simple, appealing, and it smells good. Sometimes that's all fragrance has to be. Could this be improved if it were were priced lower or lasted longer? Yeah, that'd take this from a 'like' to a 'love'. I'd love a little more smoke to come forward, too. But I enjoy it for what it is. I probably won't repurchase a full bottle in the future, though.

amg7613

Woody, spicy, smoky, sweet, creamy with almost a sparkling quality that I [think comes from the musk]. Milk + is a lot more “campfire” than Expressive and Personal versions. It’s a perfume I’m describing with lots of individual adjectives because there is a quality from each one (and what you would typically think each one would smell like). I had to let this one dry down for a hot second because the first whiff has almost a “cheesecake gone bad” quality (someone had mentioned this smelled like cheese and they aren’t wrong, LOL).
It’s one of the most popular ones of the line, and while it’s nice, I am more of a Velvet gal.

cowboyfuel

This smells like cheese lmao

Princessy

I can’t past the opening, that is very harsh and alcoholic. It leans more masculine with the woody notes, but a woman can definitely pull this off.
Do not buy this one, if you are looking for a strong marshmallow scent and please do not buy it before testing it, as it’s not a safe blind buy!

Kayfrances

Nauseating.

cherise1676

I can’t seem to get past this smelling extremely similar if not the same as BBW Bonefire Bash 😩 I can’t justify the price if it reminds me of something from BBW however it does smell absolutely amazing

Melissadiane

This is incredibly cozy! It’s a sweet, lactonic and a little powdery, with a nice cozy slightly woody & smokey base. Reminds me of roasting s’mores on a fire.

It’s nowhere near as resiny as Replica By the Fireplace. But has a hint of the wood like that in the base. But not as overwhelming by any means. It’s primarily a powdery, sweet, marshmallow with vanilla woods.

Absolutely love this one. Even on initial spray I almost get w hint of graham cracker! But that may be a figment of my imagination :)

Overall, sweet, cozy vibes! Love it

jayznar

If this was on fragrancenet or any other discounters, I may have kept it on my radar. But this is $175CAD and it smells extremely similar to Sweet Whiskey by Bath and Body Works.
I will say it is interesting and not many scents have this vibe but its not necessarily milky, its airy.
It smells good, yes, it smells slightly better than Sweet Whiskey but not by much!! When I drenched myself in this one day, I definitely kept getting a BBW vibe lol.
(I work there rn.) The price IS outrageous for what this is. Its literally giving sugar water vibes with that empty tonka. Needed more smoke, depth, creamyness and sweetness to be worth the price. Even when I drenched myself, after 3 hours I was only smelling my laundry detergent. Big Bummer.

If you think this is light, you can barely even smell milk expressive.

jassca99

All are sweet, slightly musky, and milky filled with marshmallows. Milk negative the softest in this line, Milk expressive is gorgeous while maintaining the marshmallow the strongest and longest maybe due to that stronger musk I get, and Milk bold projects out a tad further in the beginning because of the woods but still smells sweet like the other two. It may actually be the sweetest in the beginning but the marshmallow calms down to allow the woods to shine more, without it becoming a predominantly woody scent.

solarpunk

i enjoy the entire milk line, but Milk+ is a touch smokier and muskier than the other Milks (i still love it, but not my first preference). it's lovely for going out, i might wear this to a bar. it's more of a toasted marshmallow with musks and milk. lasts a few hours on my skin.

dsgnmind

Given how Commodity is doing the whole personal (-), expressive, and bold (+) thing, it makes sense to compare them side by side and provide one review for all three. While I prefer to test blind it's hard not to notice the names, but I haven't looked up the suggested notes or read any of their literature.

With MILK I have no idea what to expect, until the first whiff, and it all becomes clear. All three are basically a gourmand vanilla musk, and because I do drink vanilla almond milk with a bit of sugar, the scent is familiar and memory invoking. The minus opens up more sweet than the expressive, both with a more musk mallow body (I'm guessing), while the plus is more of a pungent musk, but still retaining it's gourmand sweetness. After a while they read basically the same except the expressive taking on a more powdery vibe, and at times it's sillage seems stronger than the plus. The minus and expressive are relatively simple and uniform, while the plus offers a bit more layered depth with its change in musk tone. Looking at the notes now, I feel like it's a bit of a copout with "milk" being one of the notes. The marshmallow is no surprise, adding what seems like vanilla sweetness. The tonka bean explains the powdery side of the expressive, but surprisingly it doesn't appear in the plus, and a comparison of the notes across all three, it isn't clear what causes the change in tone for the plus. While all have wood notes, all three seem distant from being considered a woodsy fragrance and I think if I was to know the notes first I'd be dismayed at the lack of woodsy notes. The amber, musk, and marshmallow are far more indicative of any expectations. Longevity was ok, plus having the upper hand.

Overall, I don't get much depth, but I'm not sure it's necessary. While musky and gourmand in testing blind, they are not too dessert or foodstuff cloying. If I didn't see the name I'd call these something like a warm vanilla gourmand musk, so if that interests you give them a try.

ledavis727

I don’t get it. It is hyped online beyond belief and I am sitting here after spraying it on myself 8+ times over a few hours and it’s just.. gone. First spray is sweet-ish with a big blast of woods, no amber, no creaminess.. and then after an hour it disappears. So much for bold. An hour after spraying I can MAYBE muster up a note of woodsy-ness. What a shame. I was hoping for the same sweetness others had experienced. I’m in cold weather, to boot. Maybe I’ll try it again in the summer.

sarahbdow

It's nothing too special imo, but I do think it's a safe blind buy. I started a spit smokier than the dry down which was expected by looking at the notes. Overall, I will use the rest of my sample but might not buy again ... there's just more unique perfumes out there

Teal_is_a_scent

Practically the same as Expressive version (which is a good thing). This one is supposed to have more smokiness but couldn't detect it. At some point I had a feeling it was a pinch less woody then the Expressive version. Didn't last as long ad I wanted it to. If I had to choose between Expressive and Bold, I'd go with Expressive. I put more info about this range under Milk Expressive.

If you are into sweet scents, this one may be interesting for you to explore but more as a wild card. It's not a typical sweet / sugary fragrance. It is sweet but with warm woody presence in 50/50 ratio of sweetness to woodiness. Creamy and cozy type of a scent.

If you want to try it and it's your first time experiencing lactonic fragrances, do it in Autumn, on a gloomy, wet and cold day. I feel this is when you would appreciate it the most.

Simms567

Definitely reminds me of bonfire bash from bath and bodyworks! So far commodity has not disappointed! Will be buying a full sized bottle soon!

emjh

I like Milk and I love Velvet. I am not a lover of a Gold. But what I really dislike about Milk+ (and also Velvet+ and Gold+) is that they seem to have been adjusted to their Bold versions with the same heavy dose of some woody, ambery, smokey BBQ, tonka-like aromachemicals throughout (the Bold versions of Book, Moss and Paper do not appear to be adjusted in this manner). Milk + is unbalanced and synthetic. It is cloyingly nauseating to me and gives me an instant headache. For that reason I suggest the original expressive versions of Milk, and Velvet for anyone that is sensitive to those smokey sweet synthetic nuances. In fact, the Expressive (original) Commodity fragrances are all beautiful and well balanced throughout. I don't enjoy the Personal versions either. I think the Scent Space concept is a super cool one, but I don't feel like it has really worked.

likesleet

more saturated, bearable and golden version of Milk

DorothyErnessa

This scent is like princess from kilian and jazz club from Maison Margiela mated. It’s definitely a lovely scent and I bought it once I smelled it. But I had to return this one because it made me nauseous and I had a very off putting reaction. I much prefer the expressive and the other lines because of this.

wooka

I get no marshmallow from this and it is surprisingly similar to baccarat rouge… initial impression: it’s solid.

islandgirlmaranda

Holy moly. I am in the first 10 minutes of this and OH MY. (Drooling.)

This is soooo cozyyyyyy. It reminds me of Killian I Don't Need a Prince by my Side to be a Princess, which I own. Where as that one is more ginger, sweet tea, and marshmallows...this one is one is more smokiness with the marshmallows. But not too much! Because I do not like too much smoke in a fragrance. There's something I'm picking up on I can't quite put my finger on. It must be Tonka Bean which I'm not too familiar with. This fragrance is literally the perfect fall/winter scent. It craves cooler weather which isn't here yet. Totally unisex. I'm female and LOVE it. I would also LOVE this on a male. I'm curious to see how long this lasts and what the dry down is. I'll update later!

So far it's glorious.

Update: This fragrance has amazing longevity. 8+ hours. It's still a LOVE. Keeping it!

As I've been wearing it:
The scent of apricity!!!
"Picture that you're outside in the crisp fall air, you're in your favorite snuggly buttery soft sweater, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit, the sun is setting, and there's a soft warm glow in sky of the perfect fall sunset. You go home with the scent of smoke and slightly sweet marshmallows around you." That is Milk+.

NickiGB

This is one of the coziest and yummiest fall fragrances I've ever encountered. Not sure if I will wear it in summer, just because the notes scream fall/holidays to me. If you have Gris Charnel, it's a similar vibe, but this is more spicy and smokey. I love both, but I think Milk + has better staying power and sillage. I think this is an easy reach for gourmand lovers.

miss_chris

I am completely obsessed with this perfume. I sampled all 3 in the Milk line. milk- disappeared In a couple of hours, the expressive version was sweet and delicious but lacked complexity … and the bold version is a complete dream. It is like eating delicious roasted marshmallows in a wooden bowl next to a crackling fireplace. It has enough woods to mature the scent while still being sweet and delicious. The milk note is more of a fluffy whipped cream and the additional woods and amber give it more of a toasted depth.

IloveperfumeJR

Commodity Milk + Bold smells like a warm embrace from someone you love, wearing a soft, plush cashmere sweater. It's warm and sensual but present. It's bold but not overpowering. It 'reminds' me of Juliana's Not a Perfume and Replica's By the Fireplace minus the cloves and burning fire (which I HATE in Fireplace) mixed together with a handful of marshmallows to add a subtle sweetness. Every note is balanced perfectly. It's a cozy, woody, amber, creamy scent. It's not too woody nor is it too sweet. Great for those who love or hate perfumes!

Longevity: I wore it to bed, and woke up still smelling it on my skin and clothes the next morning (approx...8hrs for me).

itsamarshmallowworld

Milk + Bold is so incredibly cozy and delicious. It smells like freshly baked graham crackers, with toasted marshmallows, caramelized sugar, a touch of campfire, and pure love. My partner asked if I was baking something delicious, but it was just this perfume! It ticks all the boxes for me: deep, slightly woody gourmand with moderate sillage and excellent longevity.

girldeadbug

Hmmm… Compared to Milk-, the lactonic creamy milk scent gets toned down here for much more woodiness. It smells nicer once it starts drying down, like sweet, lightly spiced vanilla creamer has been spilled on sandalwood and cedarwood, but it’s not my favorite of the Milk series. Can see a fair share of people loving this one, especially in the winter against brisk winds, but I just prefer the more truer sweet milk scent of Milk-. Maybe this can be described as wooden cookies with a glass of sweet milk topped off with a touch of nutmeg powder (though I suspect the “spice” is actually coming from the cedarwood, I just correlate it with the milk more). I think I’d buy a decant of this to test during cold weather. It may actually shine there rather than in my hot room.

J_Michelle

This is such a cozy, comforting scent. To me it smells as if someone took Cloud by Ariana Grande, toned down a bit of the sweetness and replaced it with a touch of woody cedar. This is a truly unisex scent in my opinion and is great on its own. Layering with it would be ground breaking.

dharastover

Oh my god. This is my new favorite ever. I literally moaned when I smelled it!!! If you like By The Fireplace, This is a sweet, creamy and marshmallow take on it.

Zethre

Tonka bomb! I don't know why this doesn't include tonka in the notes when it's so obvious, and mentioned on their website!
Gorgeous, enormous sillage, ambery tonka with a milky note and a lot of sweetness. The sweetness dies back a little after about half an hour, but it's still really quite sweet.
I had to buy a fb of this in the end, it's really more-ish! Smells like tonka icecream

aczwy

the presence of amber here gives this a much stronger impression than milk expressive does, but all three renditions of milk are still far too candy sweet for me to find enjoyable. i really don't like to age fragrances generally, but of the three, milk+ is the only one that strays into the mid-late 20s category, owing to the amber; i don't think i could envision someone over the age of 20 wearing milk or milk- (of course do what you please, this is just my opinion)

PijiRobyn

At first it’s identical to the original expressive Milk perfume. As it settles into the skin all I smell is almonds. I’m not a huge fan of almonds so it’s quite off putting. However, if someone wore this around me, I’d be mesmerised. It would create an alluring aroma around anyone. Up close it’s a bit nauseating.

tessture

Almost identical to the personal version; All I smell is screamy wood notes and soft milky marshmallow powder. Hate it. Really wanted to love it, but the Screamwood notes kill it flat.

KatyJane87

I bought a sample of this and ordered a bottle as soon as I tried it. I’m obsessed. It’s such a unique gourmand because it has no vanilla and it's just different from anything else I’ve ever smelled. I can't explain it. It’s warm and delicious, but not cloying whatsoever.

I had to come back and edit this… I take back what I said about the performance. Maybe I was having an off day when I first reviewed this because the longevity and silage is pretty dang good! This fragrance gets an “A” grade from me.

diluted paintbox

Maybe milk note is really more potent here than in Milk Expressive. But also marshmallow is more loud, which I don't like and I prefer mahogany to cedar, so I think I will go for expressive. And I think expressive actually has better longevity and sillage.

In general, this is woody milk. On other days it is just big fluffy marshmallow. Which is not so sticky thank to woody notes, so it is actually not bad. Like a reviewer before me has said, sweet cozy gourmand without vanilla. Win for me, I love gourmands and hate vanilla. Plus the woods takes away the sweetness, so everything is very balanced.

Now that I am writing this, I am starting to realise, Milk is actually a great perfume. All three of them.

S.kekkonen

This is like a gourmand vanilla fragrance without vanilla which makes it quite unique, at least compared to what I've smelled before. I agree with other reviews that the scent itself is very comparable to the expressive version, but this has a much stronger opening and a hint of smoke. It lasts all day on my skin and absolutely clings to clothes.

The scent itself is more sweet and creamy than anything else, but you can pick up on the woody base which provides some balance. Like drinking spiced, warm milk topped with marshmallows in a cabin with an open fire burning in room next to you.

Ksj_

Unfortunately, I think they missed the mark capturing that marshmallow scent you get when you first open a bag of marshmallows to roast. That sweet dusty scent. This is synthetic and a little bit too sweet.

However, outside of literally rubbing marshmallows on you, this is probably the closest you’re getting to smelling like a marshmallow. With that being said, I think this fragrance is fun and potentially bottle worthy.

fauxmantis

To me, this is only slightly different from Milk expressive. Not worth paying extra. The slight extra spiciness and smokiness actually takes away from the uniqueness of the scent. Also the sillage feels the same as Milk expressive.

Babblecat

I have the new Commodity discovery kit. I crave lactonic fragrances in January and February, so I decided to start with Milk+. (By the way, this is a BEAUTIFUL discovery set. I love the spray testers, and the booklet that comes with it is great. Great presentation, especially considering the relatively low price point.)

The opening of this one was tough for me. The first spray, on my neck/chest, was so strong--it felt like I was drowning in sweet milk. This is a BIG scent. Now that it has calmed down, I really like the creamy musky sweetness of the milk and marshmallow notes, and the way the cedar introduces an interesting counterpoint of bitterness. I put this on three hours ago, and it's still going strong.

For me, I think this will actually be the "personal" version of the scent--what I spray on myself and my clothes and pillows when I'm spending a night at home--whereas I imagine that the other iterations of Milk will be more appropriate for work and socializing. If I wear something with an enormous sillage out it's generally going to be something that reads as more straightforwardly "sexy" to me. Gourmand notes like chocolate and almond definitely qualify, but I can't see myself wearing a lactonic perfume to go dancing.

Then again, until fairly recently I'm not sure I would have believed I'd one day be wearing a perfume called "Milk+," so I guess anything is possible.

Kaylovely

Smells similar to coffee break. Honestly for maybe 5mins. It's the milk note they share. This is super milk strong milk not warm cup steamy but pungent and bitter. Good performance of course having the + option.. not marshmallow in a good way super strong sweet.
If you want a creamy Milk try Blanche Bete which shares a similar note of milk to Cruz Del Sur II vs this type of Milk note.
I also love Musc Maori as it has a steamed Hot Chocolate vibe.
I haven't tried the -, or regular vs of Milk so I can't share diffrences.
I do get the Tonka note maybe that throws it off here for me. It was such a strong Milk, Tonka, and Amber smell like others have mentioned. When I first wrote my review I hadn't noticed/ identified the Tonka note. I've unfortunately smelled the cloying note in certain scents. That let me know yes this is a Tonka bomb. That may be the reason I don't care for it. I think certain companies use this one Tonka that I do not like! They use it here. Again try for your self you may love that Tonka. I don't get any marshmallow. Unless its supporting the overall lactonic vibe.

maddsienicole

Milk+ is almost identical to the original, "Expressive" Milk. Of all of COMModity's scents, I think Milk is my favorite. A truly lactonic, warm, creamy and sweet fragrance with decent lasting power. Unique and truly mouth-wateringly gourmand. There's a light, sweet, almost cherry opening in this + "Bold" version that the original doesn't have, and there is a bit more woodiness and smokiness. As a result, the projection is slightly larger, but not by much.

You can read my full thoughts on the "Scent Space" concept on my review for Book- "Personal" edition, but overall I just don't find the difference between the 3 versions to be big enough. On paper there's a noticeable difference in strength, but on skin they all smell and project nearly exactly the same. You would expect, with the marketing, that the + "Bold" versions would be bombs. But with the exception of Velvet+ (which TRULY fills a room) none of the Bold scents are markedly different from their original counterparts. And with the difference in price, I would save the $20 and just buy the original "Expressive" version.

mellyv1973

Sweet & creamy on my skin. Almost like caramel. Not very woody on me. This is delicious & comforting. Love it!

tony5596

For those who don't know, Commodity has recently relaunched all of their fragrances in 3 levels of intensities;  Personal, Expressive and Bold. This gives the consumer the option to choose how strong or soft they want their fragrance. They refer to it as their "Scent Space" project.

As soon as i received my sample, i immediately sprayed Milk+(Bold) because i LOVE a powerful scent. Milk+(Bold) contains notes of Skin Musk, Tonka Bean, Mahogany Wood, Firewood and Amber. Upon first spray, i was madly in love. It wasn't the creamy and Milky fragrance i imagined, but it smelled like creamy, spicy woods. As odd as it sounds, it's really divine. It smells like a spicy woody dessert. Now i know you're thinking "That would taste so disgusting", and you're probably right lol. But the smell alone is delicious! Milk-(Personal) and Milk(Expressive) aren't as spicy, but you get more of that creamy and milky marshmallow.

I had to give the personal and expressive Milk fragrance multiple wears because Milk+ was so bold, the other two almost smelled like nothing to my nose. But speaking of Milk+, the performance was PHENOMENAL! I got 9 hours on my skin with up to 4 feet of sillage in the first 5 hours of wear. It is my favorite and definitely a must have for the fall/ winter season. I had recently cancelled my order for the Milk(Expressive) full bottle, and I'm glad i did because Milk+ has my name written all over it.

Scent: 10/10
Packaging: 7/10
Performance: 9/10

Kai_11

I prefer this of the 3 in the scent space kit (Milk-, Milk & Milk+). Caramel sweet, golden toasted marshmallow. A richer, creamier woodsy feel, but not as much cedar as I had expected; it does become a bit more masculine into the second hour. Slightly similar to Matin Calin in the sweet lactonic note, but a much closer relative of B&BW’s Sweet Whiskey (and a fraction of the cost)
