i am testing from a vintage mini bottle. this opens with almond blossom, mimosa, peach and a hint of melon. it's a slightly sweet powdery floral. very springlike and i am loving it. after a minute or two i begin to sense the lily and lilac, which adds some dewiness. then i get a lot of violet and benzoin and the scent deepens a bit but is still quite light and springlike. overall a powdery soft floral with a benzoin warmth. just beautiful, honestly.

I wish I could love wearing this scent as so many do. The opening is a light bright happy mix of delectable soft fruits and dreamy gentle florals. Beautiful. Then it dries down to become a powdery bomb on my skin and clothes and I can’t escape it. I really enjoy this in the air as a breeze gently carries it throughout a room but unfortunately I can’t be encompassed in its powdery scent bubble. Devastated.

I've known this ever since I was a little girl and I distinctly remember the golden recipient lodged in a beautiful pink on the inside box. To my then nose, this magic potion smelled like apples. Not green or red or any kind of wordly apples but golden apples, the kind you hear about in bed-time stories. I guess it was because of the recipient and the golden box mixed with the mildly sweet, powdery yet still fresh fragrance. Thing is, to this day, Champs Elysees (although a bit dilluted from what I remember) still retains that enchanted luminosity from my memories. It is still beautiful, distinctive, sweet, fresh and, to my utter surprise, the longevity and projection are excellent. Springtime french classic, always a love.

Firstly, Champs-Élysées was created by Olivier Cresp, the mastermind behind Mugler's Angel. Jacques Guerlain passed 33 years prior to its release, so I'm not sure why he's credited as its perfumer.

Comparing the original bottle with the bee bottle I recently purchased and I am so relieved to confirm that Thierry Wasser has maintained the integrity of this classic beautifully. I have yet to test the inverted heart bottle, but I remain hopeful it is as faithful to the original as possible given the limitations owed to IFRA's tyranny and avid dedication to neutering fragrances.

As for the differences, the original bottle’s florals are slightly more heady (almost shrill and hypnotic, like pressing your face to a bouquet of jonquils), dewy, spring-like, luminous and a little sharp, which I attribute to this being produced prior to IFRA’s major 2018 lily-of-the-valley restrictions. The bee bottle is slightly more fruity in the opening (a melon redolent of L'Eau D'Issey is prominent), more rounded, full-bodied, cozy and smooth, but the two are 95-99% similar and the differences are entirely negligible (especially after 15-30 minutes) to the point where the average non-fragrance enthusiast wouldn't perceive significant alterations, if any. The main difference is that the original is much louder in terms of projection and more evocative of spring.

This was my signature scent in my twenties and it will always have a special place in my heart. Opens with a crisp, almost sharp fruity note, then dries down to a youthful and classy floral. If I ever need a pick me up on a sad winter day, a spray of this beauty can lift my spirits. Smells like happiness, full stop.

Tee

One of my favorite mimosa perfume, before I know there’s a flower/note called mimosa!

I loved the sweetness, sparkle, flowery, fresh-fruity aspect of this perfume, but I used to not be able to describe the scent beyond fresh juicy fruity floral with peach. Only now, I realized, what I loved from this fragrance so much was its mimosa!

It is feminine without being too feminine. Bright without being too blinding. Elegant but still approachable. Bright spring day stroll in a bottle!

Would recommend to try this for those looking for happy, sweet floral fragrance.

So this is what I wear when I read my historical romance, imagine myself a young daring heroine that captures a handsome dukes attention. Well, what I imagine those regency romance heroines smelled like anyway. LOL It’s so classy but youthful. It has this lovely and romantic vintage vibe but not too overpowering. Beautiful! Not safe to blind buy.

If Chloe Narcisse was the signature of my high school years, then Champs-Élysées was the one of my college years and beyond. Although I think I regularly used both once Champs-Élysées came along.

It has the blast of floral brightness that came with many 80's-90's powerhouse scents. You could smell me a mile away and I loved it! So fresh, sweet, bright and clean. I can't get enough.

Guerlain recently re-released Champs-Élysées and it is a major, major disappointment. It has some remnant of the original--some powdery dry down, plastic scent but it is in absolutely no way the powerful, bright floral scent it once was. It has none of the bold top notes of the original. I instantly put it up for sale and bought two bottles of the original, in the triangular bottle, from ebay. I'll be devastated once I've sprayed through them.

Funny story: I worshipped the great models of the 1960s as a teen, and asked my parents to get me Guerlain Shalimar - so many 60s models’ signature scent - when I was about 13. My dad was sent to buy presents, and was convinced by the perfume store worker to buy this “younger” Guerlain for me instead. (It’s the classic non-beehive bottle pictured here, though I lost the cap.) In the end, I am grateful for that, as I’m not sure that Shalimar would fit me even now over a decade later…

This is my baseline fruity-flowery. It belongs on the skin during a clear-skied, sunny spring day in a sundress. It’s strong on the melon and lily of the valley, to me, and has a wateriness/creaminess(?) to it that you wouldn’t expect from the notes here. It’s definitely also soft and powdery, but certainly not “old.” It’s serious though, and not juvenile. It is nonoffensive on my skin, but I can see the almondy notes turning medicinal on some - test first, probably.

demhayerawsah

I found the bee bottle version on sale for around $60. I longed to fall in love with this fragrance - the initial bloom was fantastic. But with 30 mins or it started to smell like hair product - something about the almond just didn't quite sit right with me.

ChelleBelle84

Not a review, so I emailed Guerlain about this scent on the US site. They have not discontinued this scent. They are just in the process of repackaging it. It will be back on the site once repackaging is complete. I do not have a time line when that will be.

ChelleBelle84

@victoria99 the eau de toilette and eau de parfum are on the Canadian, UK, and French websites but I see it’s not on the US site. We may have to email in for it or order from Canada or overseas because it doesn’t look like we can order from Canada at the moment. At least I don’t see a price or button to add to cart.

Victoria99

Does anyone know if this is being discontinued? I can't find it on the Guerlain website, and the extract says "end of collection"

hkremer

This was my first introduction to the House of Guerlain, which is now one of my favorites. This scent doesn't contain the typical "Guerlainade" as found in so many of the vintage, and even some of the current fragrances (L'Heure de Nuit, I'm looking at you!). That it doesn't contain this house's backbone is a good thing.

The one I'm wearing (vintage, not the bee bottle) opens up like a very *very* tame Giorgio of Beverly Hills with white floral and iris, and none of the oakmoss or patchouli. The peach is present but definitely not as present as Lancome's OG Tresor.

The middle notes of lilac, almond blossom and rose are present (I never get the LOTV), but the dry down is the best, warm vanilla and creamy almond.

Not good for a blind buy unless it's a vintage mini from eBay. This beautiful perfume is rich, maybe borderline cloying at first, but also a perfect fragrance for a perfect day (I wore this in 1997 for my wedding). While the marriage didn't last, my affair with Guerlain thrived, and my affection for this fragrance has never ended, despite the bittersweet memories of days past.

springsunshinelove90

To me, this fragrance overpowers in a soapy and powdery mimosa and dries down in a soft vanilla of sorts. It’s feminine and pleasant and tends to last quite some time on my skin. It does smell a bit “older”

malikun

There is something idiosyncratic about this whole lily -of-the-valley and lilac combo, I just can't stand it. Same story with Idylle from Guerlain whose creator Thierry Wasser worked for Guerlain for a looong time. Definitely he was heavily inspired by this masterpice while working on Idylle. It is a classic, my mom used to wear it a lot, but it is just not for everyone...gives me that "bitchy school teacher vibe ", that type of smells were popular when I was back at elementary school

natfen

This was my wedding day fragrance in 1998. I have no idea if it smells the same today as it did then, but it was the perfect scent for an outdoor Caribbean wedding - just bursting with true to nature fruity, floral notes and a light touch of sweetness and woodiness to round it off. Sillage and longevity were both really good too. It was summer sunshine, romance and happiness in a bottle and made me feel beautifully pampered whenever I wore it.

Catsylvania

Reviewing the current version.

Got this beauty for Christmas from my family, and it coincided so well that here in New Zealand, it's some very warm weather during this time. CE is the type of a fragrance that is very hard to fit any case scenario that doesn't feature neither summer, nor spring at the very least.

Powdery lilac was definitely the dominating note backed up by mimosa. I also got some pretty lovely, almost watercolor grade melon in the background, and some ever so slightly bitter almond. The latter was quite a pleasant note to observe because otherwise CE risked being a bit too much of a straightforward floral but almond gave it some firm character.

I noticed that CE was something that refuses to sit well in an indoors environment, as if refusing to be bound by walls, so I only wore it when I knew I'd spend most of the time outside. I wore it very often during the warm times of the year and made a pretty significant dent in my bottle which, considering how many bottles I own, is a pretty decent achievement.

Silage - definitely noticeable. The trail will stretch somewhat further than a few arms length. Longevity - certainly on the long-lasting side. I didn't have any need to reapply during the day.

CdeBXL

This is a review of the original/vintage release in the bi-triangular bottle.

A lovely scent, even if it lost some of its initial power now as opposed to when I acquired this CE.
Strong on almonds, mimosa, and honey. Creamy in the drydown, with a veil of rosy powder and anise.

I haven't tried the current formulation, but CE will stay in my scenterie: a very elegant spring/fall fragrance!

eaudemale

Creamy florals with almond and and fruity notes. If your opening is weird or chemical, your batch is old, CE has natural oils and these degrade with time. One of the best fragrances for women ever, very similar to Cheap and Chic and 5th Avenue, spring in a bottle.

HolyTerra

To me, this says "Springtime in the Paris of old movies," and I mean that in the most complimentary way. Champs Elysees (EDP) smells to me like what a French woman would wear as a springtime fragrance, to complement her chic upswept 'do, her simple gold earrings, and her elegantly carefree daywear ensemble. But it can also make the leap to a spring evening at a bistro on the Seine, the stars just beginning to show.

I have never been to Paris, and I have absolutely no idea what it's really like there, but the Paris of my imagination is all chic women and cozy cafes and trees in bloom and forever springtime. It's gorgeous and exhilarating and covered in chunky champagne gold glitter and stardust, and it fits exactly the lyrics to "The Last Time I Saw Paris." For all I know, this Paris has never existed excepting in the imagination, but the imagination is where all the good stuff happens, and to me, Champs Elysees epitomizes all that.

Others here have noted that the opening is a sharp floral blast. I would say lily, but don't see lily listed in the notes. Still, lily is what seems to hit the nose first, or possibly narcissus, and I do mean *hit* the nose. But that does calm down with the drydown, and then you have a beautiful nosegay of lily of the valley, lilac, mimosa, possibly some rose. I don't detect ANY melon, violet, anise, or almond, nor much peony. And the Guerlainade bottom notes listed -- cedar, benzoin, vanilla, sandalwood -- don't show up. I detect NO Guerlainade, which is rare for a Guerlain fragrance -- even the girlish Insolence has a whisper of it. But the beautiful blend of spring and early summer florals is so light and airy that the Guerlainade might seem out of place or even clash with the body of the fragrance. This is strictly a white and yellow floral composition, and the resinous or woody notes might be too heavy.

I can understand the comparison with Fifth Avenue, being fresh and floral, but Fifth Avenue seems like a "tribute" fragrance to Champs Elysees, more aldehydic and lighter. Champs Elysees smells as if every single note in it is made with real flowers, and the most carefully selected ones at that. It's the smell of flower shops, honeymoons, cathedrals on Easter. Perfect for day, but can be refreshed with a spritz to take you through an evening out as well. Classy and a classic.

cresol

There is an initial alcoholic burst of yellow flowers which rapidly unfolds into a dramatically beautiful white and yellow floral bouquet. The base notes of vanilla, sandalwood, benzoin and cedar don't fully account for what is left over once the top notes have passed. There is a persistent and sumptuous yellow floral note which somehow lingers on your clothing for weeks. It smells like Summer and Spring in equal parts. So few things astound me these days, but this is one of them. This perfume is impossible to overspray and is never too much. The sillage is perfect. You smell this on yourself throughout the day and so do other people, but it's not in your face because this scent melts into your skin. Beautiful is the least of what this perfume is. It's a genius creation and an understated masterpiece.

lauren.smells

This isn't a normal day on Avenue des Champs Elysees in Paris: it's a celebration day (Bastille Day, perhaps?) and there are parades, flowers, balloons, and fireworks. Champs Elysees is a joyful scent with many notes, and the florals stand out the most, particularly the lilac. Very pretty, and a tad vintage-y in a way that makes it classy and interesting.

zaikazaika

This is just cheer in a bottle!
Feeling down? Winter taking too long? Just spray some and it immediately lifts the spirits.
To my nose this is a honey/mimosa scent (although technically no honey is listed here), it's probably the combination of almond and other notes that gives me this impression. It doesn't have the depth or drama of other older Guerlain sisters (Mitsouko, Vol de Nuit etc), and I'm assuming this could be why Luca Turin trashed this perfume in his book but I think it deserves a life. I personally love it and keep it on my desk for a ray of sunshine :)

Nora805

My signature fragrance. Received as a gift from my best friend in the 90s. I was in my 20s living on my own.
Young, beautiful, in love, and having a wonderful time. Wearing the fragrance today still makes me smile.
There are so many components. The lilac, almond flower, violet, and anise makes this floral fragrance unlike most. Its a complex floral for me it starts off open airy then floral to a powder and the final sweet vanilla sandalwood stands on its own or a great base to layer a more seductive peppery fragrance for an evening out.
I always wear it for myself to feel pretty in a floral scent. My office, lunch with the ladies or just a day out and about. I never thought of it as a man grabber fragrance.
A review mention someone using 5 pumps! Lord! It is not overpowering but the silage can fill a room.
I’m in my 50s now and have a greater collection of fragrance but I never stop loving this scent.

abczee

I find this pleasant, far from my favourite yet felt compelled to write to share I sprayed this on at 10am after a shower, it is now close to 1am and although faint it is still a linger scent as I get ready for bed. A definite keeper, lovely and lasting.

Kashaboo

One of my favorites from Guerlain. It smells so, so pretty! It makes me feel pretty and lighthearted. I love the lilac, the lily=of=the-valley and the mimosa, the latter being quite strong. The bottle is beautiful as well, the angular one in the pink box. Decent sillage and longevity. I need more of that!

perfumeaddict97

Okay, I know many people like this perfume and might not like my review, but this is my honest opinion, which many considering a blind purchase might find to be useful.

I had read many amazing reviews, that this perfume smells floral, fruity, sweet and delicious, and yes maybe it is, but there's just something about it that makes it very offensive to me. You know when you're sitting in a place with many kids/babies, and you start sniffing this smell, like where is this coming from, and then you realise uh-oh, there is a baby who might need their nappy changed? Yes, this is exactly what this perfume smells like to me - mixed with scented powder, especially in the opening! I'm not sure, but it might be the combination of florals present in this.

It has a strong powdery note to it, which is soft and creamy. I do love powdery scents, but if you love intense powdery notes, you might like this.

I asked my mum to try it, and surprisingly, she was ok with it, so it was obviously better to give it away to her. However, my dad hated it on her lol. It's definitely not a sexy scent that your man might like to smell on you.

Other perfumes I might recommend to try over this from Guerlain:
- insolence edp & edt
- l'instant de guerlain edp
- LPRN (original)

Overall, some people might love this perfume, considering that it has many positive reviews. It's definitely not safe for a blind buy.

ReWeegh

I was lucky and still could by one vintage art-deco bottle. Beautiful, classy scent, smelling feels like time stops for a moment and makes you smile uncontrollably. On me a It is beautiful composition of lilac (most dominant), mimosa and almond, light fruity tones, perfectly blended, with honey lingering around.. No harsh big blast of fratchouli to your face, gentle, floating of the notes.
Dry down is also beautiful, soft, almond, vanilla combo, comforting and elegant.
There is nothing aged in this, timeless beauty.
Longevity is very good - 8-9 hours.

patricia.w.lancaster

I am in love with this scent. It's perfect in winter and spring, but darn it, it's way too rich for summer.

Lollia007

While not giving the first hand to pure florals, I have to say that this fragrance is the exception. It is not the routinely sniffed "delicate blossom scent" that you might imagine by having floral fragrance. It's not the intimately given small bow of lilac blossoms on the first date. It's "hey, I brought you something! My hands are full! Are you well trained to handle this?" -as you receive a huge bouquet full of random seasonal blossoms bearing intoxicating scents.
Basically - classic, lovely 90's scent, that I accidentally found out at the store sniffing random samples.
Being floral, it actually is a pretty firm, solid, grounded, well defined and dense. A bit too intense to call it typical delicate floral. Probably for this reason I could not resist of buying 100 ml bottle and wearing right now. And taking it into consideration that it's all about Champs Elysées, it' s logical that they shine due to heavy number of different blooms and scents. The floral heaviness is right here. Great performance, sillage and longevity!

Frangipanilove

I loooooooooooooove Champs Elysees. Just love love love it. I don’t like the opening. Its chemically, sharp, a little damp, unpleasant. And it gets even worse in the following 10-20 minutes. But within an hour or so it magically turns into this exquisite floral spring bouquet of flowers. It is simply one of the most delightful floral symphonies I know on the fragrance market. Its layered, sophisticated and joyful, sunlight falling on a bouquet of fresh yellow and white flowers in the drawing room of an beautiful French chateau. Its really amazing that such lightness and natural, non coying sweetness can emerge from underneath that opening. This a showpiece of complex perfumery knowing how to create these layers that eventually finish in this celebration of beauty. Its truly an exquisite floral perfume, I cannot stop smelling myself when I wear this, kind of like when you can’t stop drowning your head into a bouquet of flowers you are carrying.

92juanjavier

This is the perfect spring perfume.
It is an extremely floral/fruity perfume.
There are times when it reminds me a little bit of Chanel's Cristalle EDP, probably because of the power of the peach and melon.

It is a typical 90s perfume, with a touch of elegance (like all Guerlain perfumes) without being opulent like the perfumes of the 80s.
It has a very wide sillage and a good longevity.

(My impression for the vintage bottle)

monikaasiya

another marvellous classic from guerlain-i came to a conclusion that the older generation women smelled more classy then the women nowadays
the opening reminds me of the houbigant's quelque fleurs probaby because of the dominant lilac and lily of the valley-it is almost soapy and litte "old lady like" at the beginning
but after few minutes the magic starts and it suddenly transforms itself into a magnificent and very feminine scent-a little powdery mimosa mixed with "something else"
it is light- not offensive but very distinguished and classy
i like to use it before going to bed it cuddles me to sleep-so relaxing and pleasant
definitely one of my favourites

This review is for the recent bee bottle version of the eau de parfum. Champs Elysées is a pretty, understated floral bouquet. It's not nearly as heavy and as cloying as a lot of other '90s florals, and therefore remains relatively wearable today. The mimosa takes center stage in all its golden, pollinated glory. Thankfully, the powdery lilac and delicate, airy lily of the valley fill it out and temper it, along with some supporting fruity notes. Overall, a light, fresh, powdery scent with a hint of green sweetness. Deceptively simple, to be sure. I don't get the plasticky/old-lady impression that other reviewers have noted, though this perfume does lean a bit more feminine. In terms of age and occasion, Champs Elysées is relatively flexible. I wouldn't call it stunning or beautiful, but it is certainly very charming and pleasant. Yet again, I find myself wishing I could try previous iterations of this lovely juice.

Bluebirdpsyche

This is real sexy, seductive....a sweet elixir.... like catch me if you can, and peek-a-boo lace. Running through a field of lilies, hopping over melons, flitting through a grove of almond trees, of lilacs and roses and peaches. Caught, beneath a golden shadow of Mimosa... mmmmmm this be that yummy yummy

I have a new bee bottle. Longevity is great, about 8- 10+ hours, at least on my skin. Dry down is so so good. This has become a new love ❤️

Cristiti

I love GUERLAIN perfumes 💝 and this one is my favorite ❤

Exenidi

Best powdery inoffensive mimosa in the world👍It’s a mimosa-mainly scent for me.

delightme5

I just bought this again, its been a while. Pink box (Edp), so its vintage but not quite vintage.
I was toying with a few others eg: Narciso rouge etc nice but why bother with its short barely there-ness ? Save that for the followers etc's.
C Elysees(edp)..is a TRUE PERFUME. Just a little bit should do the trick. Its real, thick, alive, glowing with fruits and flowers. And forms with time to something else. Your layers.
Pick your moment though and bang.. up and away. The sharp green (probably the mimosa leaves) does subdue itself and let some pink through during its solid wear.
Dont listen to that "Guru" who poorly rated it. Its your chemistry here - what does he know ? It IS a beautiful MAGICAL perfume ! Use carefully till you understand it.

Short story : I would go out with an active woman (aprox 60, but any age can wear it) in a van to do runs, and every now and then she smelt like colored lights - if that makes sense ? Fruity, vivid, beautiful.. Photo realistic !
I asked eventually what she had on.?. CHAMPS ELYSEES, her favorite. And she says just 4 - 5 sprays all over her front. What im saying, is that honestly, sometimes it took on a visual of the Eiffel tower all lit up, and i think thats on Champs elysees. Im not sure nor care other than that.

UnearthlyApothecary

Wow leave it to me to dislike Luca Turin’s 5 star winner Chamade and love the 1 Star Guerlain he despised lol this is spring in a bottle. Beautiful heady lilac and mimosa cloud. I oversprayed and choked myself up a bit but I can’t imagine choking on a more beautiful fragrance. The fruit notes worried me, I am not a fan of the peach and melon notes found in scents of the 90’s (Volupte for example) not to worry Guerlain used these with a light hand and the quality of ingredients is obvious. Nothing synthetically screechy, chemical syrupy or nauseating. The almond is lovely, it slightly recalls Mahora. The anise spice is a nod to L’heure Bleue. It’s downvoted pretty far but I definitely notice it probably because I am such an anise/licorice fan. Rather then shame the house of Guerlain, I think Champs Elysees is the star of the parade of big beautiful floral bouquets of the 90’s.

ILikeFlorals

My favorite perfume, ever. I first smelled it in a Cosmo magazine in the mid 90s and ran out and bought it. I love when some gets on my coat or a sweater and radiates the scent for days. It smells even better on hot summer days, I think.

My husband loves the scent on me, too. My mother started wearing it after she smelled it on me lol.

Anast4s1a

The aroma very parisian.
For me this is first of all a beautiful white rose, not cold, not soapy & not powder - she is a live. And not solo - this is a huge bouquet of white roses without a thorns. At the first moment when applying i hear the green composition of fresh leafs, petals and a drops of dew, like in flower stores. The dew leave... and i breath in fluffy haze of mimosa. The fragrance slightly bitter & tart ( maybe this is petals of lilac with an amber ). And of course purple violets, luxurious powder of violets - brand chord of Guerlain, clearly feels in aroma.

The Eau de Parfum sounds loudly. In my vintage bottle with a shoulders there's not much left. I'm wearing it neatly of course in the spring time .

bodnerrachel

A wonderful scent that starts out crisp and fruity with black current, melon, and peach, bursts with flowery scents of lilac, mimosa, peony, almond blossom, and violet, which soften a delicate rose, and ends up woody with cedar, sandalwood, and almond tree. A lovely combination! Champs-Élysées is not like those old-fashioned grandma perfumes of yesteryear with one cloying scent to drive you mad. This is Guerlain at its most modern, most subtle, most delicious. Yes, it is a delicious fragrance that makes you long for Sunday brunches with champagne mimosas, almond pastries, and crepes with strawberry jam. Note: Perks up considerably when you layer it with Jicky.
**** 4 out of 5 stars.

KittyDeBeauvoir

This scent is so damn light, fresh, and classy!

I first smelt this on one of my best friend's mothers and - I don't even care if she's a generation ahead of me - I wanted this perfume so bad!

I got it, and always loved it.

Moral of the story: Smell happiness and buy it.

Kitty rating: 10/10!

I just received Champs Elysees Eau de Parfum in the new bee bottle 100ml. It's a very classy scent. It's just not very powerful, but it's not that much different in performance than a lot of other current formulations of perfume. Just don't expect too much from it.

elledeelee

I was given a full 100ml tester bottle of this for free just before I took my gap year. As a true floral girl I found it to be rather retro, but likeable so I took it away with me. Wore it every single day for three months while abroad. To be honest, it was probably far too mature and strong for an 18 year to be wearing, but I rocked it nonetheless, naively over-spraying each morning! Then I encountered my first heartbreak, and couldn't bear to bring the scent of my time away back home with me. I left the bottle in the bathroom without regret. If ever I come across this in a department store I will sniff the bottle and smile, as I am immediately transported back to that time, that place, that boy. Had I not got this specific association with this perfume, it would definitely be in my collection now, and would undoubtedly suit me better at this age! I enjoy the memory but I could never wear it again.

mlrd217

This perfume is amazing! When I blind bought this, I didn't expect how it would smell like, but I trusted Guerlain quality. The first spray to be honest I didn't like it, it smelled like plastic doll and lasted only an hour (probably from the heat during shipping). I kept trying and now I love it! To my nose, the opening still smells like barbie doll but the dry down is worth of waiting. It's powdery with some sweetness from the floral, creamy, it is soft but strong. With 2-3 sprays it lasts days on my clothes and 4-6 hours on my skin. The sillage is soft to moderate but noticeable.

Hedviga

It was one of my favourite perfumes, so classy, I always wore it when I wanted to feel poised. But the new version is completely different, nothing classy in it, boring rose, awful smell... I still have an old bottle, 20 years old, and it is still as good as it was in the beginning, but nothing to do with the new version.

Molly Smith

I didn't believe it was possible, but the second time I tested it, here it was: cat piss! It's funny how I can smell the beautiful flower notes, but at the same time they combine into a pissy odour. :(

DarlingNikki

I got a sample of this some time ago and I was shocked when I sprayed it and got a nauseatingly strong new doll/plastic scent right out the gate. It made me almost gag and question my scent memory of this, but I held onto the tissue I sprayed it on and waited for it to mellow. It did in about ten minutes or so and a thinner version of the Champs Elysees of memory did appear, so I think the sample I had must've been the EDT version. Would love to smell the EDP version to see if it smells the same that I remember...

I wanted a 90s floral and I got a 90s floral. This is a wonderful soapy spring perfume. Very ladylike.
Tingling nose, soapy taste in my mouth, grandma's favourite flowers - I must have this!

osy2017

Very lovely scent, especially close to the end of the winter when I become really tired of winter and wish for spring flowers to make my day. Lilac here is very prominent an I love it, because makes my day every day I wore this perfume. Also, receiving complements. Love this one a lot!

churinl

So delicate and full of springtime! The lilac stands out on my skin, as well as a touch of violet and powder. My only complaint is the longevity and poor projection - she all but vanishes under an hour!! I don't know if I am partially anosmic or my skin eats it up but I am looking forward to trying again in the spring to see if it makes a difference. Hoping it will!

Coffee_Girl

This is so strong that i had to pinch my nose after a few seconds because i couldn't breathe out of it.

I Don't care if i black out from it because i love this perfume so much. MORE MORE MORE!!!!

florally

On me: compared to the EDT (c. 2010ish), the EDP (c. 2017) is smoother, less fluffy, less of that clothes-from-the-drier nose prickle. The nuances are more apparent too. I could never get anything other than mimosa and lilac from the EDT, but in the EDP I do get the melon, almond, peach, a little violet and rose, and something almost green -- perhaps the 'almond tree'? In general, it leans more towards soapy than powdery on me, whereas the EDT is much more powdery. It's slightly fresher, fruitier, maybe a little airier. The EDT feels drier to me, while the EDP has a little juiciness.

I already loved the EDT, but I think the EDP might actually beat it! I blind bought it hoping for more longevity but I do think it might be superior (to my nose at least). It's the EDT upgraded. :)

In feel it reminds me of vintage Diorissimo -- there's that sparkling, sweet, champagne-like floral, with a hint of greenery, and a soapy dry down.

lister

Mimosa, peony, lilac and melon are blended so well,it's hard not to like this masterpiece. I noticed that this perfume smells different on other people. When my mom applies it on her skin, I'm somehow getting a loud lily-of-the-valley note, which I do not tolerate. On my skin Champs blooms,it stays warm, powdery and vibrant, I am glad I have a well-preserved older batch.Still looking for extract

Matheya

I get it now - so Summer By Kenzo mimics this one !
It's amazing ! Yellow flowers + fresh friut + the almonds that make it soft and warm. My new favourite !
I would love a Musk in this mix ! I've figured that I just love musky bases.

louiee

Powder, femininity, youth and playfullness. If you like flowers and powder this is the one. This is an all time classic... inoffensive and fragile in the softest way. Silage and longevity is average. Fluffy as a cloud...

EmmaBelle

Powdery soft, feminine classic. Mimosa and peony dominant. Timeless.

1stclass

Pure old schools delight.
Reminds me of Jo Malone mimosa, but this has got more character.
Can be a little too much at times. So I simply layer it.
House of Guerlain is one of my best houses.

redcapricorn

I received a sample of this over the summer. It's floral, feminine, and sweet, and it smells the way I imagine old Paris would smell in the springtime. I don't think it's something I would ever buy, but I enjoyed this fragrance during the warm months. Very pretty.

shezfunn

My all time favorite. I am awaiting a vintage bottle of the parfum to arrive.

Antares811

This is one of my all time favorite scents.
I will always love this beautiful fragrance.
A gorgeous, sweet, warm, feminine floral.
Mimosa, lilac, peony, rose, almond, peach and melon on a warm base (vanilla, sandalwood, benzoin and cedar).
The drydown is wonderful and the longevity is great.
I have and love both: EDP and EDT.
Perfect for every season, classy, an amazing signature scent.
Unforgettable. A timeless masterpiece.

octobersun

A 27 year old guy asked me about this one, said it was lovely and wrote down the name because he wanted to buy it for his girlfriend.

For me, this is realy uplifting, feminine, graceful sweet mimosa-melon fragrance, which blossoms beautifuly in warm weather. I just feel joyful and confident when I wear it. Love.

Hend80

I like only the opening of Champs Elysees because I can find mimosa mixed with vanilla but the dry down is converted into concentrated peony only which I dislike

stitcherista

Nothing but flowers. I was hoping for some other notes such as fruit, wood, vanilla, and almonds, but all I got were flowers and plenty of them. If those missing notes come into play after an hour, I'll never know. It smelled so awful on my skin that I had to wash it off after 15 minutes and spray something else over it because the scent would not die.

Perfect if you like floral notes. Avoid at all costs if you prefer gourmands. I love Guerlain in general, but... not this one.

bforeman1957

What Guerlains do you love
This is my fav but I only own Shalimar and Champs E
Looking for recommendations of others to try
Shalimar is a bit heavy for me.......LOVE Champs E

IngaMM

I can’t remember if I wanted to love this one first or own it first (feel free to analyze that if you want…), and I couldn’t count the number of times I left a department store with a quick spritz of this, checking if I was ready to buy. Today I have eventually deleted Champs-Elysées from my “I want” list.
Champs-Elysées has a lot going one, but that usually doesn’t bother me and that’s not the reason. So I’m going to say it now: To me (I’m about to touch a sensitive subject, please don’t hate me), to me this is for someone who is a little more mature than me, someone with more life experience if you know what I mean. Still a lovely scent though and who knows, maybe one day I will be ready for it.

pozimhoff

Going against the popular opinion here but I must say that this is probably the only Guerlain scent I don't like. My extensive perfume collection is 95% Guerlain so I am a hardcore fan of the House. At first it seems like a nice but not unique floral but quickly spins into headache inducing territory. I'm guessing it is the mimosa. I'm picking up a rotted fruit note. I tried it several years ago and wasn't impressed and just tried it again from a decant to see if my perspective had changed. Not my favorite scent by Jean Paul Guerlain.

charcolatebar

This is such a gorgeous soft, gentle scent (soft as in the mood and feeling it creates - silage and longevity are strong!). I get a huge dose of almond, which is softened and sweetened with lilac and mimosa. In the first half hour it morphs on my skin from spring floral to almost edible - the vanilla/almond combo was perfectly described as cake-like by another reviewer!

I sometimes layer this with Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria line - Limon Verde complements C-E surprisingly well, adding some bright, sharp citrus notes.

An absolute beauty for when I want to feel snuggly and comforted, but elegant enough for evenings and totally office appropriate. And yet, when I want a smell that's quietly intriguing, I reach for this one.

PS I know some people love Guerlain's new bottles, but I am really sad about the re-design. If anyone wants to trade the older 'architectural' style bottle for a two-month-old 100ml bee bottle, give me a shout (must be UK based)!

dmarko

This is everything. It will always be in my top few favorite perfumes. It infected my brain and I never forgot the scent. It is probably the only "powder" that has worn over my heart. That is probably because there is no soapiness to the powder, the powder is so subtle and gentle. It is so complex and yet balanced. If that confuses you, it's probably not for you. The mimosa is so subtle as well. It is warm but cooling, old but new, sweet but not too sweet. It is spring time, when the sun comes out yet it is still a bit chilly, blooming flowers/trees, juicy berries, melon dipped in honey, sitting on freshly cut grass for a picnic with your loved one, feeling the breeze in your robe early in the morning, and clear sparkling waters. It is what I consider a hugging your mom perfume. It is sexy but not seductive, youthful and timeless, playful yet mysterious, white linens drying in the gentle outdoor breeze. It is the meaning of femininity to me and there is no other perfume like it. It is fresh and clean but not too much that it erases personality. There is no element of dirty musk or aggression to it, it's just lovely. It is modern and yet so classy! It is not heavy, it is not bombastic, and showy so if you are a Chanel fanatic, this might not work for you. It is worn for you not for others around, it does not give away anything about you, it keeps you completely hidden and so it brings interest and mystery. To me it is intoxicating as well but not sexually intoxicating but more inoxicated by nature. What else can I say? It is beautiful! You have heard them say that this was not Guerlain's best perfume when comparing with Shalimar and such...but to me it actually is his masterpiece. It was made for a woman who is a rebel, she understands this fragrance, she loves it....and the rest is history. She does not give a &%$ about opinions or approval. It is positive, joyful, and healing as well.

MnM

A delicate floral. I like but not love, not much projection nor silliage; I prefer more silliage and projection more projection even when it comes to florals. The notes are strong and confusing (to me) and project well at first but within the hr it develops into a light delicate fragrance. There is in it a note that I find prominent in Amarige and that I just don't care for and I don't know what it is, it is there and strong when first sprayed but as the notes develop it fades into the background making it light enough where it can be ignored.

Where to wear? Tea? I don't do tea.

My beau loves it on me. Figures, he gifted me the Amarige.

keiserkarel

Sweetness of flowers. When I wear Champs-Elysees, I feel like I’m holding a bunch of dewy fresh flowers in my arms. It brings many positive feelings to me. The spring time happiness. It’s not all about actual weather seasons. Ones in your life, when something new goodness happens.

And...it preserves the atmosphere of good old Champs-Elysees avenue. All you can see there now is boring lines of cheap worldwide brand stores. Among them, only the Guerlain boutique keeps special air you’ll want to feel at Champs-Elysees. Paris needs Guerlain in her heart.

Miss LaCreevy

Paperghost, you said it so well! You are absolutely right.

dipisor

A field full of charming flowers. Delicate, noble, uplifting. Makes me feel like flying. Really a delight to wear.

ninelives97

When I run out of a bottle of this ... I want one. Sometimes after a bottle you can stand to do without if it’s not a signature. But this smells so inviting. Like freshly shampooed hair and lotioned skin and fresh clean sheets and my lilac standard in spring. I MISS it when I don’t have it because there are some days you just need that smell of clean and floral. But it’s never cloying and never jarring. Very uplifting. So agreeable without being boring. Honestly I don’t consider it very seductive but men always like it. Also butterflies flit around my head when I wear it, which seems like a nod of approval. The drydown is heavenly but all stages are just simply so pretty.

marina.zubov

Such a pretty sweet feminine parfum I love. This smell at first of fruit I smell the melon and mimosa which is like vanilla plus almond almost like a cake very delicious. I smell the flower of violet and rose peony and hibiscus. When parfum is dry on my skin is soft and woody with sandalwood and the cedar wood. This is not musky or smoky it's soapy clean and fresh flowery so romantic and powdery. Wear it when is spring or summer with party dress. My husband love this parfum on me. Is party parfum for parties.

Timby

I only have the EDP, and it is a lovely, sparkling, optimistic scent.
Clearly this is a spring, summer fragrance. It does not bloom fully in cooler weather.

The melon comes clearly through the florals.

If you are into deeper, darker, spicier scents...you will not incline to this.

gatsby

@ paper ghost No one cares about Luca Turin's tastes. And no one will choose something thniking that he likes or dislikes something. This fragrance is one of the best seller from Guerlain ever...so, Turin must take a break.. Considering the nowadays Guerlains, Champs Elysees is not just a beautiful scent as it is, but a masterpiece.
EDP, mostly in the vintage formulation, is pure heaven.

PaperGhost

Luca Turin dismissed Champs Elysees as the second worst perfume Guerlain has ever made. Well. If that's so it says a lot for the quality of the house, because this is a very pretty and easy to wear fragrance. True, it's no 'grande dame' like Shalimar or Mitsouko, but then not every perfume has to be. Champs Elysees is quite lovely in its own right and has established itself very firmly in my collection.

Decodawn

Hello from Decodawn. There is nothing quite like the gasp of excitement to see the Guerlain Flagship store 68 Champs Elysees. It is a monumental historical building and just fabulous inside. I own many Guerlain fragances and spritzed Champs Elysees in the store so I could remember the moment I visited the store in Paris forever. The edp is fresh, floral, rounded and green it is a couple in love enjoying the spirit of Paris the 'city of light' 'sparkling' like the Champs Elysees and the Eiffel tower at night. Guerlain are the best perfumers in the world. Try it you will love it.

over_caffeine

Very classy! Easily one of my favorites. This is no Shalimar, and is certainly not monumental in the history of perfumery, but very lovely nonetheless. I have Shalimar and this by far gets more wear. Full bodied but not strong, creamy yet fresh floral fragrance. Truly reminds me of spring in Paris! The EDP lasts for 8 hours on me.

geanina_gandac

At first sniff – lily of the valley – fresh, sweet, magnificent. It opens with floral scent, more floral than fruity to my nose. In the opening there is a mixture of mimosa, rose, lily of the valley, violet – like a little floral garden from someone balcony. Some fruity notes can be spotted but in a little proportion. I can smell anise because it spreads a sharp, pungent odour. It’s not disturbing, it’s like a high note to a musical composition. The result is a beautiful harmony between flowers and fruits.
The heart of the perfume is sweeter than the opening. This sweetness comes from peony and rose, it is more like a jammy odour. To my nose this is not a mimosa scent. It is a floral scent but not with mimosa on the first line.
The dry-down is vanilla, woods and benzoin, sweet and warm. Projection and longevity are average on my skin. Not a loud perfume for me.
This is a lovely perfume, no matter what others say. Maybe it is not as good as L’Heure Bleue but is beautiful in its own way. I recommend a try if you look for a floral fruity scent.

carolyn.parker

You know what this smells like?

Almond Macarons!

Champs Elysees Eau de Parfum is like walking into those quaint little cafes and the macaron dessert shops in Paris. I think that's what they were going for when they formulated this perfume. This smells like those pink and powder blue macarons stacked atop each other tempting you from the window displays. This is a sweet gourmand fragrance. I was surprised at how girlish it is. In fact coming from the mid 90's (1995 or 1996) this actually predates the saccharine girly scents Guerlain has out there like Petite Robe Noir which I don't care for. But this I like. It's grown-up, sophisticated and youthful at the same time. Opens with a fruit merengue like ordering peach cobbler and a sweet currant note is delicious as it starts. A charming opening if I ever smelled one. Then the florals come through and they are subtle and delicate little mimosa, rose buds, peony, lilac, violet and hibiscus. It's definitely a fruity floral with a feminine sweetness and flirtatiousness that never goes wild.

It's not a sexy seductive scent. She is still innocent this young French girl but she is what we call a tease! She dresses in tight form fitting mini dresses and is never seen in a pair of jeans. She is girly girl with pink nail polish and pink lipstick. She would have pink hair and the men folk would still be after her like bees to honey.

The dry notes that I can detect are more along the lines of Guerlain classic ingredients: sandalwood, benzoin, cedar, but over it all, a vanilla. The vanilla is what keeps this thing together. This is woodsy and vanilla scented, powdery, sweet, and ultimately one of the finer spring floral perfumes for young women that Guerlain ever offered. Coincidentally back in '96 I found this fragrance in the Paris based Guerlain flag store and I was initially uninterested until the sales lady insisted I test it. I thought it would be something too youthful for me but because it is a 90's vintage it can be worn by women beyond the age of 40-50 and up. This fragrance is one of the loveliest powdery vanilla florals from Guerlain. The eau de parfum and eau de toilette spray bottles are available for purchase from sellers on Amazon.com and eBay.

;)

True love affair since 1996. I've never smelled anything like it...one spray in the morning and I feel optimistic and radiant. A genuine gift, as I'm not exactly a glass half-full girl. If ever there comes a day this can't be found, I will be heartbroken.

mschnabel666

I can't pass up a cheap blind buy, and this EDP crossed my path. Clean, floral, soapy, powdery scents are NOT my thing. I like loud gooey syrup gourmands, heavy vanilla/spice, etc... but I love Guerlain. Even if a Guerlain scent is not your "thing" it's still a lovely, wearable, pleasing, quality perfume.

This is just rather average/common/generic on me. A clean, somewhat sharp (not in a bad way) floral. I think the sharpness must be the almond notes because this reminds me of Cinema by YSL. I never quite got citrus/vanilla when I wore Cinema.

However... yesterday was COLD and had record breaking winds (up to 60 mph) and I went outside in my EDP and the magic happened. I got this lovely cold, dry Guerlain signature powder. This is what sets Champs Elysees apart from other fresh/florals..... that quality and depth. Beautiful. I also got some slight sweet/vanilla when I moved around. My purpose of blind buying this was for the almond notes and the Guerlain quality.

I'm not sure how often I'll reach for this... but I am glad I have it. On skin, it really didn't project/last unless I moved around/went outside. I'm sure I have a recent formula, having just got this from Fragrancenet. (This was one of their 95% full deals, but the bottle was brand spankn' new!)

akashia76

It is nice, sweet and floral perfume, but has lipstick-like smell to it.
Succulent peach and sweet mimosa notes are very prominent and woodsy note surfaces later on.
Good silage and lasting power. I will have to experiment this in warmer climate to see how it develops.

Caramelkisses

I love this little gem!!!
All the notes are blended really beautifully and the dry down is heavenly.

Nuitdenoel

Still one of my Top 3 favorite perfumes of all time. I wore it when it first came out, it was my signature. After that, it became harder and harder to find, and I reluctantly moved onto other scents. While chypres have become my favorite type of fragrance, Champs-Elysees will always be in heavy part of my rotation. It's mimosa, apple-y, slightly powdery scent smells almost like ice-cold wine. This is the scent I always imaged when Anne Rice had Lestat describe all those drunken philosophical conversations with Nicolas. It is classified as a fruity-floral, but it is so much more than that, and certainly head and shoulders above most of the modern creations. I will always love this, and plan on stocking up in case the worst happens and it becomes discontinued.

I know I said most of this in my earlier review, and that Luca Turin can stick his review where the sun doesn't shine, but felt like it bears repeating.

Eyviab

Absolutely stunning florals and perfect little number by the house of guerlain! I'm not sure this is a very ME scent but nonetheless stunning! The drydown is very reminiscent of Hanae Mori by Hanae Mori to me! (Now that perfume is so me!) no surprise they share lots of notes but done very differently. Champs starts of with the floral notes heavenly dancing a top the almonds and sandalwood. They showcase their full lucious blooms powdery polleny goodness. After an hour they give way to the vanilla almond and woody yummyness! The middle notes and the drydown are the parts I highly associate with Hanae Mori. Here Geurlain does it in a more gentle way much more tender version of Hanae Mori! It's delightful... If it was this way the entire time I would love it!

Happyme2009

This edp is very similar to the edt minus the screeching note . Mind you, I am comparing with my left over edt from my youth , which is so old it smells like a powerbomb.
Contrasting to that the edp is much smoother, softer, onctuous , not as loud. I definitely recommend the edp over the edt if you can find it, it is of course discontinued.
The bottle looks exactly the same, but this comes in 75 ml instead of 100 ml.
One or the most realistic mimosa scents ever ! Strong and elegant, a classic, very good value for money per ml.

nurul.ain

Overall,Champs-Elysees EDP smells like lovely powdery body lotion to my nose.it reminded me of Johnson & Johnson's body lotion.the one in pink coloured bottle.

I got this kinda smell on the drydown of this perfume which to me,it is indeed timeless and beautiful.what had making me feeling proud with Champs-Èlyseès is,this perfume is a skin-friendly type.the drydown sits nicely and not fading even after I have washed my hands.the scent remains.

I get strong scents of mimosa, peony, lilac, lily of the valley, rose, anise, benzoin, vanilla n blackcurrent.these are the scents that i get on my skin on the initial spray of it.yes it is fruity floral.

On the nozzle spray,i can smell juicy combinations of peach n blackcurrent.these two are obvious.melon is there but in a minimal trace.

A walk down the Champs Elysees starting from the Elysee Palace on the Rue De Faubourg. I'm dressed impeccably in a pretty deep purple Givenchy dress or an Yves Saint Laurent, depending on the day, well-manicured from fingernails to toenails, elegantly coiffured in an up-do, French twist, and high heels. I'm holding a clutch not a handbag, a clutch that cost as much as the YSL dress because it was purchased during Paris Fashion Week. The air is cool and the spring breezes blows softly through the trees. Out of the shops the scent of money, merchandise, cosmetics, perfumes, and women, women, women, happy women who have been doing nothing but shopping all day. This is that kind of cosmetic inside of a handbag powdery fragrance, a beauty salon scent, similar to fragrances like Paris by Yves Saint Laurent, Red Door by Elizabeth Arden or Fifth Avenue by Elizabeth Arden. There is one major difference: this is sweeter, more of a gourmand fruity floral of such delicacy and femininity as to be far more enjoyable and far more evocative of a pretty French girl shopping in the Right Bank.

At times this fragrance is like YSL Paris, but with less powdery notes. It doesn't have such screeching florals and has a softer projection. It's a sophisticated and mature but girly scent. It smells like a Guerlain fragrance that adapted to 1990's fruity florals which were always in vogue (i.e. Deci Dela by Nina Ricci, Tresor by Lancôme). It has just the right amount of everything to keep you happy. This is almost perfect, and it really did move me. I wore it to Paris Fashion Week and was on Cloud 9 in my new wardrobe for next year. This is a fragrance that matches up with shopping for clothes in Paris and does evoke the Champs Elysees and the money.

The first spritz of Champs Elysees is pure almonds. There are 3 notes of almond: almond, almond blossom and almond tree so there's no missing that almond. It's nutty and delicious, almost caramelized, with a vanillin to keep it creamy and sweet. Sweetness from the start. It turns into a fruit scent rather quickly. It's a sweet aroma of currant, melon and peach. I absolutely loved that it has no citruses. After years of wearing citrus, I'm happy to welcome fruit scents that have other fruitiness to them and I love peach more than citrus. If this had other notes like raspberry, licorice and or strawberry, it would have been too much or would have fallen into the Lolita Lempicka mood. As it is it's mostly an almond with blossoms and flowers, woodsy, floral, vanilla.

The floral notes I could best detect include violet, lilac, lily of the valley, mimosa and rose. The hibiscus is not showing up on me but there is something like a shampoo with floral aroma in it and I'm pretty sure that's the hibiscus. The other flowers turn into powder. They are dainty flowers on a powder box. It's quite pretty and powdery as opposed to fresh or green. Even YSL Paris had something of greenery to it. This is far more fruity and floral and powdery. This perfume never gets obscene and one can freely bathe in it. This is the type of perfume I seek after wearing too many gloomy dark Orientals and ouds. This is a happy casual day time perfume for ladies who love to pleasure themselves by simply putting on perfume. You can also take this baby shopping, even if it's not on the Champs Elysees and it's in your local mall.

The dry down is vanilla, which is also coming off as powdery, but can still smell like regular vanilla. The vanillin is layered in sandalwood and cedar wood, giving this scent a touch of woods but it's soft and in a dreamy haze, a haze provided by the benzoin and the lightest, lightest touch of it's incense. The almond tree in the base keeps it in the almond realm. I was surprised by just how much almond was in it. It's like a dessert. Like a French dessert one orders in a café on The Champs Elysees itself.

This is never boring but I wish that it had more fruit and more gourmand scents but in early 1996, Jean and Jacques Guerlain, the noses behind this scent, didn't have other perfumes to compare it to and the fruity florals were brand new and emerging as a new form of perfumery. They did a fine job but appear to have shown restraint and kept it in a lady like and well behaved manner. It's even rather conservative and like a light chypre floral. At times it almost seems like a variation on Femme by Rochas. If you like the following scents you'll like this:

Femme Rochas

Paris Yves Saint Laurent

Red Door Elizabeth Arden

Fifth Avenue Elizabeth Arden

This is quite gorgeous and still available in it's original form. It has not been reformulated to my knowledge and I wear the originals. I never tire of this scent. I prefer this to Paris by Yves Saint Laurent and consider this scent to be the better representation of Paris France. It's cozy and elegant, sweet and edible, a perfume to satisfy your fruity floral cravings. I am wearing this even in Manhattan now that I've returned from Paris Fashion Week and it elevates my mood as I get over the fatigue and jet lag from the journey. This perfume. All I have to do is close my eyes and take a whiff and I'm in Paris, on that grand avenue.

Nikkafragrance

While we were in Greece, my mom tested it and it was love at first sight. I have smelled it long ago and unfortunately I can't still say it's my thing. It's a weird floral to my nose, it starts too green and spicy for me, yet it's a very distinctive scent. It's not a straight up powder like Insolence for example, it's fruity powdery scent with hints of spices. The lilac, mimosa and violet are very prominent. It's a nice scent for spring and fall. The drydown is beautiful, however this perfume is not my cup of tea, but I am so glad that my mom found her new signature.

I've had Idylle for some time now, and I'd been debating with myself for weeks whether I really need another Guerlain floral... but today I finally gave in and purchased Champs-Elysees. I'm wearing it right now and, honestly, this stuff is divine. The opening is a bit harsh, with anise and almonds obscuring the flowery heart, but after only a couple of minutes it morphs into a gorgeously flowery-powdery luxurious bath. While Idylle is dominated by the rose, the strongest note in Champs-Elysees is mimosa (and I absolutely adore this modest January flower), although the rose is also there, together with lilac and peony. In terms of projection and longevity, Champs-Elysees actually beats Idylle by a wide margin, yet it's never intrusive. Truly a masterpiece.

Oh Guerlain, you always know the way to my heart, be it your perfumes, skin care, or makeup. This is such a happy, cheerful, elegant, refined, beautiful perfume. It truly is a joy to wear! The Almond Tree Flowers and Mimosa are so true and jubilant, and accented gorgeously with almond tree wood. As you inhale the sweet, soft yet bright florals, at the tail end you can detect the soft, nutty, waxy texture of the almond wood. The Hibiscus seeds are like the ribbon around the bouquet. The almond and Mimosa/Almond Blooms together is beautiful. This is elegant, Sophisticated, beautiful, feminine, soft, and deliciously intoxicating. I cannot get enough of it!

Baseeta

Does this smell like what I've always imagined Paris to smell like? Nope, not at all. This smells like my grandmas yard in the spring time, and I'm getting a bit sentimental. This has peony, lilac, lily-of-the-valley, and rose among many other glorious notes, but these are the ones that were heavy hitters at grandmas house

It's very rare that I buy a frag more than once. It's mostly b/c I simply get tired of it as the bottle empties. This is the ONLY frag that I have purchased, not twice, but three times!

My daughter was getting married this past January, and I went on a research spree for a suitable frag for myself. Since it was a destination wedding at a beach resort, I wanted something light but not fruity, something not 'too out there' as I was the mother of the bride. When I couldn't find anything I thought was suitable, I simply purchased the Champs, b/c I knew it would be perfect.

I dunno what it is about this frag...the initial hit is oh so wonderfully floral without that cloying overly sweet way some florals can be. I don't know if it's the mimosa or the peony, but it grabs my nose and holds it...in a great way.

Sometimes you just have to go with what you know and what works.

Nuitdenoel

There was a scathing review of this perfume that questioned the mental capacity of anyone who enjoyed this perfume, calling it the second-worst perfume Guerlain ever made. To that, I say the critic can stick it up their jumper. Yes, it can be sharp at first, but it settles down to a lovely, powdery, mimosa. It almost reminds me of ice-cold Apple wine. It is very much a "yellow" scent. One of the previous reviewers said it sparkled, and it really does seem that way. In the end, perfume is supposed to make the wearer happy and Champs Elysees makes me happy.

The perfume is a little richer and less sharp than the eau de toilette, in my opinion.

Kalitera

I cannot be impartial to this perfume. and my description won't be of any help, sorry, I've never tried to distinguish the notes or the pyramid here :) It is eternal classic and elegance!

Champs-Elysées was the first perfume my father gave me, I was leaving my home-town then to study abroad... almost 15 years ago now! When I run off the bottle I'd always buy a new one, even though I don't use the perfume much now, only as a special treat. It erases boundaries, time, distance... It is simply beautiful.

Akarui_hana

To me it's narcotic. I sniff myself obsessively when I wear this. I think I might have a problem!
It is perfection as far as floral scents go. It is creamy, well rounded, strong and hypnotizing and yet it maintains a completely natural vibe.
So many flowers here, I think you might need to be aware of bees.
The fruits are playing the support role and they are mature and elegant while the vanilla and benzoin warm it up so skilfully.

(This has nothing to do with the majority of fruity-florals that keep popping out on the market today with their synthetic cheapness and screechy notes.)

I find it extremely romantic as well, in a torrid, passionate way.
My advice is to go for the edp, it is more refined and lasts longer.

Dark Curls

i wore this to work afew times and was politely asked by my male cubby mate to please not wear it again as it evoked powerfule memories of he and his ex, and their activities.....'nuff said ;)

Walking Unicorn

This is a beautiful floral and melon fragrance with a light powder dusting. It's sweet and juicy, makes its presence known without being cloying, it's perfect for the summer heat Love it!

Martaynd

I wear this all year round to bed. It is soft and powdery to my nose, comforting. But I agree with previous reviewer who described it as elegant and posh. If I choose to wear her out in public, the event is special and dressy. Not necessarily formal, but definitely not casual jeans and Tshirt.

She is Sunday church, luncheons and special parties. She is great for professional business as she is noticiable, but not overwhelming or intense.

At night, she draws your man in for slow dances on the dance floor or cuddling up anytime during the date, because she doesn't project far. He'll want to get close and stay close to keep breathing you in. She lives long. You are likely to smell her gently lingering on skin the next day or in your scarf or clothes the next morning.

This one is not a common fragrance. IMO it is for the mature ( in mind and attitude, not necessarily in age) woman who has arrived; elegant, sophisticated, posh, confident, and who loves expressing her femininity. She's a 4/4 for me. I will try to always keep her on hand.

Aleccsei

Like the warm embrace of your elegant grandmother.

Perfume Forever

Discontinued now, found a shop that has only a few left. Wish they wouldn't discontinue great fragrances like these ones.

catpud

So posh and expensive smelling.
It has a rare and exotic fragrance and i would imagine very wealthy ladies would leave a trail of this scent wafting behind them.
Just a heavenly and sumptuous knock- your-socks- off floral delight.
Just divine. Buying it very soon.

katmitchell

If you want to smell like you're just out of shower, and the hair you've shampooed hasn't dried yet, this one is for you. Sweet and fresh, shower/soap

TanyaArvan

I love this one, timeless and classic. True Parisian chic.
Tried it again and it made me so happy. It screams Guerlain.

A staple for me in my fragrance wardrobe, but not my signature perfume. I keep a supply & use it now & then; at the start of the day & not too much, I have never had to top-up with it. Even if going out in the evening. One of the few that I can smell on me all day, do I put too much on? I fear I do!
It is an intensely fizzy fragrance, almost too sharp but not quite, it doesn't hurt my nose but I can see how it could.
Like Monie70, I can only wear it in the winter. It's too intense on my skin to wear in the warmth of the summer. Yet it is not overly warm in tone, its not a cosy perfume on me.
What I do find amazing is how it is such a different perfume on so many women, how our skin oils change fragrances notes at all stages, top, middle & base.

Monie70

I have loved this for years and decided to buy another bottle after getting bored with my newer buys. I love this so much. It just makes me happy!

I have to use sparingly because a little goes a long way but the champagne smell just does it for me. It's got a fizzy, floral scent that warms up/down and has a yummy vanilla-y smell, at least it does on me.

I'm a little sad that I can only wear it in the cold winter and maaaaybe pull it off if it is chilly enough in the fall. But I cannot, will not, dare not wear this in the summer. I imagine the heat and humidity of summer and the warmth of spring would turn me off.

I'll see, but I am so glad I remembered liking it and biting the bullet and buying a new bottle. Even with the reformulations, it's still nice.

Lucky7z

I loved this scent (nice and long lasting) but had to give it to my mom cuz this would give me horrible headaches=(

400blows

I was given this as a gift when it was new. At the time, I thought it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever smelled. I almost never wear it now because my scent adventure has taken me to darker places than the effervescent, dazzling space this one occupies. But I'm always happy when I smell it on other people, enjoying the sense of shared delight even if my delight is more of the restrospective kind.
An annihilating review I read recently seemed strongly to suggest that the putative inferiority of this perfume stemmed from the fact that a Champagne maker had recently taken over [or become influential; I've forgotten the details, and don't really care about them... for me, it's about the scent and nothing else]. Anyway, I wasn't surprised about the Champagne association. Since I first encountered Champs Elysees, it has occurred to me many times that it was just like a fountain of glittering droplets of freezing Champagne backlit by a whitely blazing sun. And it has just occurred to me this moment that there's a pun- on one hand the avenue with the Arc, and on the other, Champers and Elysium. I wouldn't be one to think of Champagne as heavenly; rarely drink because I'm one of those weirdos who don't like the tipsy sensation. It's a great thing that the makers didn't allow a detectable by me tinge of alcohol into this, moreover.
In any case there is no mistaking the aura of brightness and joy in this perfume. It has given me a lot of happiness and is a beloved brew on the cherished over a lifetime list.

sleepy*weasel

Blackcurrant/peach and rose, followed by a heavy mimosa, underpinned with musk/vanilla. I'm not a fruity fan so it's unusual for me to have this at all, and I'm still conflicted by it. Something I like (it's sweet, a good musk base) and something I don't (a bit too much melon and blackcurrant?)- Luca Turin hates it, but I've smelled a lot worse than this. I'm testing it on a cold winter morning and that has improved it a little, I think I just find it overpowering in summer. So it's on the "once in a while" shelf. It does last though, and last, and last some more :)

December 2014: One of my favorites. I've owned my 1 bottle for at least 3 years. So versatile. I wear it day or night, all year round. To me the fragrance is VERY classy, but yet I don't feel that it needs to be reserved for special events. I would not restrict myself with this fragrance. I wear it to bed, often, because it has a soothing, calming effect on me. It also makes me feel very pampered. I wear it casually and formally. It is definitely a snuggle fragrance. My husband is comforted when he smells it on me and we embrace or cuddle. CE draws you in. It is alluring.

I've read the description and was surprised that it is considered a gourmand and there are fruity notes in it. I smell the powdery part real well, as well as the floral. I absolutely smell the vanilla. It is a distinct fragrance. It is long lasting. Because of its softness, it is appropriate for business and situations wear you don't want an overpowering smell, but you want others to smell you. If I had a baby, I might spray things in the nursery with it. It is not a clean smell as much as it is a pure smell. If it were a color, the color would be white. If it were a texture, it would be fluffy, like down. I have nothing bad to say about it. I will do my best to always have a bottle in my collection. I just hope they don't discontinue it or reformulate it. The bottle is quite lovely too, feminine and elegant. 4/4 stars. It's really a wonderful perfume.

apricot.porridge

Almonds, mimosa blossom, peaches, lilac.
Hibiscus and peony to blend and mix all notes.
Cedar, vanilla and sandalwood ground the sweetness of the more fruity notes and help the more volatile flower notes stay.
This is the most glorious, classy yet sassy floral gourmand I have ever smelled. It is just perfect. Long lasting yet delicate enough not to be offensive to others. The dry down is sweet but clean, never clogging, making this a perfect fragrance for the warmer months, that is still cozy enough for autumn / winter. Champs Elysees EDP is a grown up yet playful, joyful scent, complex yet so well balanced it never gets odd, not in any of the stages it goes through. A true beauty.

LadyPilot

Ever since I smelled it for the first time around the time it was released, I've been getting contrasting feelings about it. Once I found it too heavy, artificial, cloying floral, today I smelled an old sample and after 15 minutes of initial application and evaporation of agy, stinky notes I get gorgeus lilley of the valley! And that's what I want from it. I guess I'll give it another chance in spring, because this is clearly the season when it belongs.

sasha.heywood

When drawing in the fragrance. it smells really special at the end of the inhale. Does this makes sense? Initially it's stock-standard floral but then the base notes hit are really appealing.

imoore

Try before purchase. Fabric softener smell.
Cheap for under 30.

r0r0

An underrated perfume in my opinion. The main experience is of spring flowers, fresh and light, almost joyful. However something chilly lingers, the remembrance of winter, while something sweet and juicy promises to quench the thirst of hot summer days. This is a perfect spring perfume, containing both the season itself and hinting at those that bracket it.

I have the edp and it lasts well, faded by the next day, but a hint remains to be reawakened in my morning shower. I have tried the edt in the past and remember not liking it, but it may be my tastes have changed. I think I'd still recommend the edp however.

loverofperfume

Champs Elysees is another wonderful perfume from Guerlain. It's like a bouquet of fresh flowers when I spray it on in the morning. A sparkling, lovely deeper scent comes through with each passing moment. The EDP is a bit richer than the EDT, but I love them both. Champs Elysees is kind of hard to find, so I grab it when I see it. Would love to try the lotion too.

Julia1506

Lovely fragrance that always makes me happy. I don't know why, but every time I was wearing it I was smiling without any special reason. It is very gentle, beautiful and elegant spring perfume. Ideal for young women.

julieekerr

just lovely. purchased on impulse and so glad. its that perfume i've been looking for. a floral powdery for the summer. its a bit like l'heure bleu silage without the old ladies handbag close to skin. get the fruit to start withn gentle lilac mimosa vanilla to then comes the violet and almond then beautiful powdery dry down. just lovely. i have the EDT and essence parfum. love them both but essence lasts much longer. what a delight, its like a sophisticated iydle duet lilac and jasmine.

twoteacakes

Lovely, gentle floral. Not gentle as in silage but in formulation, it's nicely blended. At first it is a little heavy on the lilac, almost smells like hyacinth to me. As it dries down it becomes warmer and softer with the almond, vanilla and benzoin coming into play against my skin. I really like it, but those heavy purple flowers in the initial opening stop it being a love for me.

floralfragrance

Guerlain does it so well I have a small sample of this and I wanted to remember what it was like. Raw honey and linden blossoms. So well crafted ..

GalInGlasses

I wrote a review for this fragrance some time ago, but I think I accidentally posted it on the page for the EDT... It still applies to the EDP, and is as follows!

I just love this. On first application, it's very floral, but within the first hour of wear, the almond notes come forward like crazy on my skin. Such an interesting and unexpected transition. I was actually really surprised that "nutty" was not one of the main adjectives used to describe this fragrance. I absolutely love this scent's creamy dry-down; it's like wrapping yourself in a warm blanket, and it just goes on forever. I've been wearing Champs Elysees for about 11 hours now, and I'm still catching whiffs of it. Ugh, just gorgeous. For any time of day, occasion, or season; thinking it might be the perfect lift in the fall.

zsazsa

This is beautiful and timeless. The first impression can be e little sharp in the top notes, but the dry down is delicious almond, vanilla and something fresh, I cannot clearly distinguish it. The longevity is impressive, I can still smell it after 5-6 hours on my very dry skin. Very a-typical for Guerlain, but perhaps one of the first fruity-florals on the market, and one that is well-done! I recommend this to anyone who isn't really into the modern, typical fruity florals of today, but still would like to have a good quality fruity floral in their collection. I live in the Caribbean and this goes very well with the hot weather.
