Armani Privé Rose d'Arabie by Giorgio Armani is a Amber Floral fragrance for women and men. Armani Privé Rose d'Arabie was launched in 2010.

Armani launches new perfumes of the Privé collection in November 2010. The collection is named "La Collection des Mille et une Nuits," inspired by the medieval Arabic tales from 1001 nights. These three new heute couture perfumes depict the exotic mystery of the Orient with its warm, spicy and woody notes on the subject of rose, oud and amber.

Armani Privé La Collection des Mille et une Nuits icludes three perfumes: Oud Royal, Ambre Orient and Rose d'Arabie. The fragrances are exclusively designed for the Middle East market and are made as imitations of their traditional perfumery and local ingredients.

Rose d'Arabie combines Damascus rose with patchouli, vanilla and Arab woods.

It is packed in a black glass bottle decorated with a golden stopper.

Smells masculine. Also smells like rosemary. Exactly like rosemary. It’s a no from me.

Saveria

A superb rose fragrance. If you're a rose lover, this one is for you.

Rose d' Arabie offers a very intense rose which, sometimes, smells like rose syrup; just delicious, I can't resist it. The patchouli makes it a little earthy and the oud is perfectly balanced, not too strong, not too overwhelming. A perfume that lives up to its name; it's a real oriental rose as I like them.

The result is sublime and, if the price had not been so high, I would have bought it straight away.

The staying power and sillage are excellent.

This is stunning. Received a sample of it, amongst others, from a friend who I swap perfumes and samples with. It reminds me of a lot of different perfumes, at different stages. I definitely see the POAL comparisons but the very far dry down kinda reminds me of Midnight Poison just minus the citrusy notes. I also see the comparisons to Oud Satin Mood too, never tried Silk Mood so can't say if it's similar to that but I imagine it is. Oud Satin Mood is one of the perfumes I'm sending my friend to test in my next package to her so I know she'll love it if she loves this. Opens with the rose, then the patchouli and Oud come through but nothing overpowers anything else. The whiffs you catch in the air are beautiful, much nicer than smelling it up close. Quickly became one of my favourite perfumes. I'd say it's a more stripped back, lighter version of POAL without all the spices. It smells classy. Great performance, sillage and projection are fab and longevity too. Would absolutely buy a full bottle if I had a disposable income and will likely buy it in future.

cheleine

I agree with the previous review.
It’s in the same vein as MFK Silk Mood but I would say closer to Velvet Rose & Oud (by Jo Malone) than Portrait of a Lady. Take all of that and make it grander, richer, deeper and better blended. Quality and luxury.
Masterfully done.

Edit: I don’t even like rose scents but this is STUNNING.

Tato Chkhenkeli

This scent between MFK Silk mood and Frederic Malle - Portrait of a Lady. but for me is better.

To me, this is almost the perfect rose perfume. Just enough of what you need, and never too much. No one note overpowers the others; it’s perfectly blended, and the notes are well chosen and fairly minimal as opposed to a kitchen sink, more complex arrangement. What is used is high quality and elegant.

Unlike some other rose perfumes that feature patchouli, you smell the rose in this at first spray. It’s a deep true red, luscious, full, and perfectly unfurled damask rose. It’s at the height of it’s beauty, with a palpable feeling of weight and density.
Patchouli fingers hold it up, giving support and occasionally ruffling through the petals and combining their scents in a darker more spicy way than just the rose itself. All this rests on a bed of wood, which is very light and tasteful and just gives a little additional smokiness and maybe a tiny bit of oiliness.

Rose d’Arabie lasts at least 8 hours on the skin and stays fairly consistent, with only the intensity gradually diminishing. The sillage is moderate and follows the wearer around but not in an obnoxious way. It is unisex. It’s a little bit sweet, not in a sugary and forced way, more like how a flower is sweet to attract a bee. It feels very natural. This is a modern and streamlined version of a rose that still manages to be weighty and dark red, as opposed to pink and light. Sometimes that description would come with old fashioned vibes, but this one doesn’t. It’s truly almost the perfect rose.

Very similar to MFK silk mood edp in the opening, becomes different after that, love it.

Western take on Oud-Rose combo that ends up being largely a powdery-sweet-vanilla-rose fragrance with hints of Oud. Feminine leaning. Shukran Habibi!

my go-to blend of oud and rose, a simple favorite in my collection. A bit of a pricey one but well worth the money imo

My favorite oud -rose out of my collection

ginandrice

Sweet, jammy rose combined with warm, textural oud, and ultra-smooth vanilla.

This has one of the most elegant and versatile rose notes I've ever smelled in a fragrance. It's delicious, dimensional, sophisticated, and wholly, perfectly unisex.

This fragrance is so perfectly balanced and blended that the notes all feel as though they are luxurious facets of one another; inextricable.

The end result is a fragrance that is suave, sexy, and sophisticated, without feeling remotely ostentatious or contrived. It's deceptively simple, with a subtle, very natural sense of depth and mystery. Superb.

Ashmoore84_1

The notes are actually Rose, saffron, amber, woods, patchouli. It's stunning! Beyond what any rose, oud, vanilla scent could offer. So elegant, regal, and sexy!!

Stunning and a love at first sniff 😍 ❤️

DVDEK

To my nose this smells like a higher quality oud al layl, very pleasant Rose and clean oud

Annelieva

I smell leather, rose and a gentle oud. I’m quite tired of oud on steroids, so this was a very pleasant experience. Probably the best rose-oud perfume I’ve tried. Comes in a beautiful bottle, and is long lasting with good projection. One of my most successful blind buys!

Uzayr_J

The perfume is very nice, it's not outstanding or not a must buy , it's sweet rose, oud is almost non existent but it's definitely a winter fragrance, longevity is good, sillage is poor, it's a common fragrance, not something different or special, if you love rose smell you will definitely love this kind of rose fragrance, because it's sweet rose in which the rose is greatly blended with vanilla in which the vanilla is not evident but it gives the sweetness to the rose not like rose vanille perfume that has strong baking smell because of strong vanilla and almost non existent rose, this fragrance is good you will not regret to buy, but it's also nothing that special.

Edit:
I smelled a little leathery but not woody oud, the rose is greatly blended with oud that is giving some leathery rose texture and also giving some woody smell as the smells settles and I think it's also patchouli that settle downs the rose and oud. I'll say that i really liked it as it is well blended. And it's all season fragrance for me leaning more feminine or less not more to unisex fragrance.

Sheherazad

An unusual, intoxicating dark rose oud. Mysterious, exotic, more Western than Mid-East. More sweet than spicy, the sweetness of decay…a decaying, dead zombie rose that smells amazing. 🧟🌹Nothing like JM Velvet Rose & Oud to my nose; JM’s rose is dark, yes, but cleaner, fresher, light & airy.🧚🏿🌹This Rose d’Arabie rose is soooo much darker, deeper, dirtier, deadlier. ☠️ There are unlisted notes assaulting my senses in a mesmerizing way. I get no vanilla at all. Rose becomes soapy-funky in the mid, a vague medicinal note creeps in but scent remains hypnotic. ❤️🔥

Frankly B

Stately, dramatic and oozing new vintage vibes and luxurious old money excess. This excellent, balanced and complex rose-oud will please and seduce you without cloying for a second as it peels off the delicate layers of its powerful and compelling fragrance. It features a strong, jammy opening current of classic Damascus rose, fortified by mysterious Arabian wood and permeated with a slight insinuation of smoky patchouli. The effect is intoxicating. As the formulation dries down, the oud settles in and makes itself at home, spreading the tendrils of dark incense throughout the floral element and stabilizing the rose along with other woods. Its dryness blends seamlessly with the juiciness of the flower for a balanced effect that leaves you leaning forward. While the open is almost loud, the dry down is sotto voce. You are left feeling not just as if you have put on a bit of fragrance; but also, as if you have gone through a full and rounded olfactory experience. It is a sensuous and pleasurable one.
Highly recommended.

Enrium

Rose d'Arabie is as I expected: a simple, high-quality rose-oud scent, utterly classic in style. Perfectly unisex, it features a high-quality, dark, rich rose at its core, complemented to perfection by woody, ambery oud that is just the right amount of animalic. It is bold and luxurious, utterly elegant yet seductive (I hate describing perfumes with this adjective, but here it is fitting!). Rose is one of my favourite notes, and this is yet another example of an excellent rose scent. It uses a mild, woody oud that is palatable to Western tastes, yet feels true to Middle Eastern tradition.

RA opens with rich, jammy rose, fleetingly boozy, followed by dark, dry oud. This forms the crux of this scent, and is one of my favourite renderings of this classic accord. Patchouli adds earthiness as it develops, and I get some soft spice too, keeping things dark and rich. The rose becomes powdery as it develops.

A sweet amber-vanilla accord creeps in as it dries down, adding smooth, balsamic sweetness to the base. The woodiness of the oud melds beautifully with the sweet amber. However, there is a synthetic undertone, and it fades to an ambroxan skin scent, lingering for a long time. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. It is best worn in autumn/winter.

A really decent rose-oud scent, RA is predictable in its composition yet classically elegant, but is let down slightly for me by the ambroxan-heavy drydown. 4/5.

Annelieva

Wow! This is my first from the Armani Privé line. Love from first sniff!

aicwilo

wear this scent if you want to dominate the room. smells luxurious, it eminates an antique-ish vibe but i love it. this is if quiet luxury was a perfume.

Sexbox1814

I wore this when it first came out when I worked on the counter at that time ouds where only starting to come out so it was a very unusual strong scent…it goes on strong but the dry down is always heaven you will smell it from a mile away stunning fragrance but you need to be in that mood…it smells like pure money and sex basically what a high class escort would wear

Ambrenuit

Oriental Fairy tale. A wonderful, unique, romantic fragrance that will really transport you to the fairy tale of 1001 night. The beautiful charm of the Orient will wrap around you like a magic veil, and the magic carpet will take you to a beautiful rose garden, with purring fountain, your fairy-tale prince is walking towards you from the palace, servants are serving you sherbet and fragrant Turkish coffee on a beautiful tray.
This fragrance is clearly inspired by the Middle East and was created for arabic market, but it is not a typical Arabic fragrance, unwearable for a European woman, on the contrary, it is the European Sheherazade in a magical Arabian palace. This romantic fragrance is incomparable to the usual average "romantic" fragrances, which are all similar, all unmemorable, nothing interesting. This is the scent of love, the scent for a woman who doesn't want to smell like all the others.

lmnsvgz

Typical sweet rose and oud perfume that is a bit earthy

Larsse

Just smells so good! Mysterious sweet Rose along with high quality westernized Oud. I have smelled many rose & oud fragrances and this one is easily the best of them!

KELIZ

Lovely!
If you’ve smelled:
• Maison Lancôme’s Oud Bouquet, you’ve smelled this. It does have better performance strength than Oud Bouquet. I very much enjoy both. They are definitely unisex and strike me as best suited for Fall/Winter but it could be enjoyed for Spring evenings. Also appropriate for any occasion in my opinion.

velvetsmile397

Most amazing perfume. Modern oud mixed with a deep rose. That's it. Good longevity about 7 hours, while most of my perfumes are 3-4 hours on me. Sillage is not amazing but better than moderate.

rziotti

Although people are saying is similar to JM velvet rose & oud. To me is there is more similarity to JM Myrra & Tonka... I have three and I've just tested yesterday 3 together.

Arber Cami

I dont like rose in fragrances but the rose here has amazed me. Opening is like rose water but dries down to a gorgeous, smooth, juicy, realistic rose, with a little earthiness from the patchouli. I get no oud and almost no sweetness/vanilla. This is the most realistic and the most beautiful rose I've ever smelled, but I wont buy a bottle of it, it's too expensive and challenging to wear for a man. Absolutely worth trying!

yazounet

I have a bottle that is 2/3 full that needs a new home. Please PM if you are interested (CONUS)

ICURN-do perfumes

I purchased a sampler, this perfume has Medicinal oud and sour smelling roses. I like the drydown after 3 hours but I wouldn’t buy just for that!

RegalKitten

I get no oud, the rose is dark and sweet and there's a sharp, soapy, and funky body odour edge to the rose in the dry down.

I have oud oil for comparison and the funk is not oudy, it's something else.

The sharpness I smell reminds me of the nose-burning sensation of ammonia. That's a rather extreme comparison but it's what came to mind.

I might not notice these unpleasant aspects of this fragrance if someone else is wearing it and not overspraying, but I do not like this on me. It's a scrubber.

Chesco

Modern clean Oud with a touch of funk + Powdery Rose + Shampoo Soap + White clean synthetic Vanilla + Dark earthy Patchouli + Spices + touch of Leather + Sandalwood

Finally got my hands on testing this frag after Demi kept talking about it in her old videos.

There maybe even Iris in here giving the dna that powdery note.
This is completely different than any of the line’s other modern release fragrances. Released in 2010?? This was ahead of it’s time in Western Perfumery!
This reminds me of ATH ‘Onyx’ for the scent genre, where he added the note of Plum to his.
That modern clean Oud note is also similar to LV’s ‘Ombre Nomad’.
Because of how clean this farmed modern-style Oud is, this fragrance is still a running horse in what is hip to wear in today’s trends.
This fragrance is pretty great actually!
Not much going on here with notes, they kept it simple using few notes but allowed them to shine to appreciate them and it’s decent quality.
The Rose is the most dominant note of the dna.
Because the type of Rose used here and combined with a lil soap note that gives me cheap shampoo of a scent, not good, but to it's credit it does make the dna smell youthful.

During the mid it goes to a sweet rose with a earthy patchouli that's done in a beautiful way, it pulls the dna away from being too girly feminine.
Many hours later during the bottom drydown it goes to an incredible dusty rose dna which i was surprised that a wood note came into play and was addicting for the first time.

My favorite part of the dna was the initial opening to get that hit of clean modern Oud, and the very end drydown.
Sadly, it doesn’t project as much as i would have liked, so expect to over-spray.
This fragrance leans feminine. But a gay guy could pull this off beautifully! Or if your male personality can rock it. But as a straight male i would only reach of ‘Onyx’ and ‘Ombre Nomade’.
Im actually surprised that there is not hype-train on this from female influencers, cause that clean Oud note is dope af!
I really recommend this to you ladies on a night out!

4/5 Woofs!

This perfume reminds me of Chloe eau de Chloe. That kind of rose. Fresh, "wild" rose. I don't smell oud a lot in here and the drydown is vanilla. Great fragrance for colder days.

Atina365

It’s ok. I don’t hate it but it’s nothing to write home about.

cwavah

get a alot of rose and a mild oud

étoilesdejasmin

Gorgeous, but worth the price? No. For a rose beast just go for L'Extase Rose Absolue Nina Ricci. The Nina Ricci projects madly well. This one has a bit more dimension than it of course, but it’s still very similar to me. If you have something like pure oud to add some spice to the Nina Ricci it’s practically the same aura.

Shafi

It's a beautiful, sweet and incredibly mysterious scent. It reminds me of those original yummy Turkish delights that I've had in my beautiful trip with my husband to Turkey few years ago and believe nothing they sell in western countries taste like those! And this perfume just takes me all the way back in Turkey having those yummy delight! It's very sweet but not overly sweet for me and the oud turns it into a very powerful and mysterious scent . And 2 sprays are enough to have a beast mysterious warm and spicy sweetness aura around you for 10 hours plus. It remains on my clothes for days. It's perfect for winter and autumn weather. If you like mysterious and sweet scents with a bit of spices, definitely try it.

Add realistic rose, westernized oud, a little patchouli, and tuck them all in, in the bed made of vanilla. Gorgeous creation, really beautiful and velvety creation that is definitely worth anyone's time to check out. Armani/Prive just does not disappoint at all.

Ticoman

I’ve worn this for over a year now as a young male. I’ve always enjoyed the spicier rose. Some may consider this a dirtier rose scent as opposed to a clean and fresh rose. This is probably due to the oud.
The rose has slightly the same spice as Le Labo Rose 31.
This scent is very oriental and slightly pushes boundaries as it’s heavy in spice. I like it and never realized many thought it was more feminine.
Usually wore it to work in the day time. Maybe I was pushing boundaries with that one but I never received any complaint, nor compliment.
Overall 7.5/10

aramrajabpour

Amazing fragrance. Smells like my life encapsulated in a fragrance. It is not only beautiful as it opens, but it transforms through its life cycle to a darker oud that sticks on you for like a day! The rose is obviously damask rose, in my opinion one of the best smelling rose varieties. Other rose notes seem to not even smell like rose, but in Rose D'Arabie it is a truly authentic damask rose. The oud and the other notes come together to make this sweet, bordering on gourmand balance, I even smell a saffron, whether it's truly there or not. This fragrance smells like gold, that's all I have to say.

eewatts23

This is one of the finest oud and rose combos I've ever sampled, truely gorgeous, and sadly I think it is discontinued here in Thailand. I'm going to try the Jo Malone as recommended by the smells like section of this webpage.

firas1994

Absolutely fantastic,
This unique mix of rose and oud, done to perfection.
It can be used as unisex,
And the performance is excellent.
As all the armani prive line, pure class.

AllisonNW

This is a potent rose perfume! I like it but the oud is a touch too animalic on me and I can’t get past it. Don’t overspray this one.

r0tten-com

absolute beast!

Controlledbyscent31

I'm with the crowd that gets the citronella too that ruins the fragrance for me, it must be the patchouli as I get the same from all of narcisco rodriguez perfumes aswell this is more tolerable compared to them especially that pink bottle 🤢 but that pesky patchoili note in here makes it too sour for my liking.

To me this is like a sweeter but zestier take on cairo from peheligons.

Definitely Better rose + oud combinations on the market since this was released I much prefer OSM from mfk but then again I do like a sweeter rose I'm working out by testing all of these other rose & oud combos.

I absolutely love the bottle and it does have good projection, i am just very glad I only brought a small sample to play with.

stephania3000

Like a reviewer said below this has a citronella-like smell for the first 30 mins or so that I can’t get over. I understand this was unique when it came out but many more rose oud combos have improved on the idea. Much prefer Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud or MFK Oud Satin Mood.

Soan

This perfume has similarities to the new Red Evening by Massimo Dutti

adelaidesandrina

Oud is slowly becoming one of my favorite notes. This one is so goooooddd!! Smells very similar to oud silk mood imo

Theodorapo

Lot of rose especially in the beginning covering all other ingredients also giving me a citronella smell .As it stays on skin rose “dies” so finally it becomes more well balanced and not that much offensive. Don’t blind buy for sure. Hard to fit a guy.

Dandyman

It is over a decade ago since Rose d´Arabie was created.
Today, it is a classic in the rose-oud-patchouli-genre.
How can anyone think this is boring? Oh. Let me tell you why. Becouse after Rose d´Arabie there came another 1000 rose-oud-patchouli-perfumes. But this one was one of the first to hit the market.
So. Is it any good? O yes.
Sweet, red rose, backed up with vanilla and patchouli. (The oud is tamed, non offensive.)
If you own a couple of rose-patchouli-fragances, you don´t need this one.
But if you are planning to add some rose to your collection and you don´t know where to start, well, this is a great place to begin. This is a pleasant, vanillic rose, leaning femme (i am a man and i love this one, though....) and it´s just keep on projecting after applying on skin...great stuff!
So sure, if you own Rose Anonyme or Porpora or even POAL, then you might want to check out something more challenging? I don´t know. I´ll stick with Rose d´Arabie (and Rose Anonyme and Porpora....two fantastic rose perfumes...) I need them all. But that´s just me.
You do not need to pay retail for this one, there are plenty of shops on the internet where you can get a discount or pick up a tester.
Wonderful fragance from a designer house! Sometimes they know what they are doing!

nitzantagansky

one of the most sophisticated rose/oud combos out there. Well done!

ShannonIk

I had a sample of this; I own Oud Bouquet and Shagaf Oud. I have a sample of Velvet Rose and Oud, by Jo Malone.

Obviously, all of these rose/Oud combinations are lovely and have their own unique merits. But, in my experience, this scent is more rose dominant in the opening; the rose is a dark, jammy rose that is truly gorgeous. As it dries down, the rose fades, and the scent becomes a spicy, vanillic wood scent. It definitely projects and performs. I would say that this would easily stay put for 24 hours; and, my skin is fairly dry and dehydrated. You’re more likely to shower this scent off than to actually wear it off.

I like how the Oud/woodier notes are more constrained in this scent than some of the others that I have tried. But, ultimately that isn’t a knock against any other scent, it’s just a personal preference. The downside is that this is more costly than most of the other scents it would be compared to; given the quality of the scent, I would say it’s still an excellent value, if you can afford it.

seromoni

I think this perfume that is closer to Oud satin Mood but somewhere between OSM and Swiss arabian shaghaf oud. Especially its opening is the same as Swiss arabians. Drydown is lighter OSM.

mikecch

Rose d'Arabie is a beautiful red rose.
An opening of slightly spiced rose is gradually enhanced by developing woodiness and warmth.
There is no excessive sweetness or powder.

This is a very beautiful and likeable red rose.
As the scent dries down, the woods become toasty, almost charred.
At the end, woods are replaced by subtle vanilla, carrying the last petals of rose.

An excellent combination of rose and woods.
A must try for rose fans.

missogi

It's an impressive rose oud scent, no question about that. But I'm currently choosing between this and Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud, and I'm going to buy Jo Malone. Rose D'Arabie is a bit sweeter between of the vanilla, and it's too sweet for my taste. It also has more oud. Jo Malone is less sweet, has a tiny bit of a gourmand vibe because of the praline and a hint of spices thanks to clove. I much prefer that.

jeanin

A great fragrance if you like a dark musky rose. To my nose, it resembles Roses Musk by Montale and a little L Autre Oud by Lancome. Not my cup of tea, for sure. However, if you like it but not desperately love it and do not want to spend that money, a great clone is from Eden Perfumes, a UK based company. Appart that is less than 30 pounds for the small bottle, is VEGAN and cruelty-free, which the original is not.

Cocoleo

It's a one of the best oud & rose combos, but for this price tag I'd like a better longevity.
Also I can't really get the "oud" smell I'm used to.

Swann

fantastic! omg, it’s a rose bomb and very strongly felt... very beautifully blended with paculi

Ghaith Shakaroun

Rose is there; instead of oud I get a burnt wood scent, not smoky though but an already burnt wood and now it cooled down if that makes any sense...could be the dryness of the vanilla that's been used here because definitely it's not a gourmandish type of vanilla but dry and burnt one; the patchouli is amazing here as it holds the sweet and wild notes down to keep the scent tamed, nice, delicious and inoffensive.
Definitely Unisex but in cold weather it's more feminine as the rose gets stronger and in hot weather the wood comes off dry and smokier so it leans a bit masculine (still on the Unisex side).
Amazing scent, love it in the afternoon and at night; very natural yet still sexy. It's not daring or it's not supposed to be. The main theme here is sexiness...not intended to be wild, adventurous scent.

nordhaul

I thought nothing could top mY
Favorite from this house but🌹
WOW 🤤. I love rose and oud
combos and Rose d’ Arabi takes
The cake. Full bottle for sure!✨

Vickalicious

This is a beautiful rose and Oud fragrance. I know some may consider that genre over done, but this is one of the first ones and it is pure quality. It’s dark and extremely elegant and classy. Also, completely unisex. The performance on this is OUTSTANDING. I got at least 14 hours on it. Definitely one that I want to add to my collection.

I did see this compared to Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud. I haven’t tried that on skin, but I have a sample so at some point I will wear both side by side. But seeing as I own a few Jo Malone’s, I don’t think it will last near as long as Rose d’Arabie.

APJ

Rose and Oud have been done to death, but this one dates back to 2010; it does smell amazing and performs well. What’s not to like? It is honestly one of the best rose and oud combos out there.

Ambroxer

Can a fragrance be sexy? In the case of Rose d’Arabie, the answer is most certainly yes. Rose makes an immediate and dramatic impression. This fragrance opens powerfully and passionately. There is a detectable base of oud to balance things out an give the scent a strong backbone. Still, Rose d’Arabie opens on a vigorous and feminine note that does not lose power through the life of the fragrance. This is not a girly-sweet rose. This is a nocturnal, seductive rose that brings to mind a black-clad femme fatale in knee high boots. Rose d’Arabie is serious business. I would not be surprised to learn that wearing this fragrance resulted in a pregnancy or two.

As the fragrance matures and the oud comes into more parity with the rose, Rose d’Arabie takes on a slightly more unisex tone, albeit one for an amorous troubadour of a man. Think Clark Gable. Slicked back hair, tiny mustache. Probably able to dance confidently with a rose clenched in his jaw and recite sonnets to the woman he loves. Of course, the top three or four buttons of his shirt remain unbuttoned too. I’d be hard to convince there’d be much desire to wear this from the typical guy. There’s something a bit out of time in Rose d’Arabie

Armani clearly took a Middle Eastern inspiration for this fragrance. To my white, American male perspective, Rose d’Arabe feels like the scent of the Arabian Nights. It’s exotic and conjures romantic fantasies of dueling villains with scimitars and swooping between palace towers on magic carpets. Needless to say, this is a fragrance which allows the imagination to soar. I realize I haven’t talked much about the fragrance itself beyond the principal notes. It’s strong stuff. Easily fills a room on skin and paper. You’ll be noticed wearing Rose d’Arabie. And if you are wearing it, that’s a good thing. You’re probably seeking out as much attention as possible. Love it.

suzu93

This is a boss scent. A real lady (cause it do take balls to be a lady) who means business would wear this. It’s not a sweet rose and oud combination, although I am guilty of loving those as well. It’s a dark and middle eastern rose/oud combination. The patchouli doesn’t ruin this fragrance, it makes it a bit more adult I would say. It keeps everything in its place. A beautiful oriental rose with oud that doesn’t smell skanky at all. It’s an oriental dream. I picture Princess Jasmine wearing this.

The longevity is great, lasted about 8hrs on me. It is definitely worth the money!

HOUSTONHOUSTON

Some masculinity. Dark, rich fragrance. Very "arabic".I like innocent roses like Izia or Paul Smith, so I'll pass.

sgrsthe

I was highly impressed by this exclusive fragrance which didn't stop me from paying the high price tag. The top notes - rose and saffron are immediately noticeable. Though it might come off as a feminine fragrance, the deep oud and woody notes highlight its neutrality. The long lasting or base note fragrance settles into warm amber and sweet patchouli, which gives it a royal sensuality and finish. Suitable for evening wear and mild-cold climate. Ill have to wait to see its longevity but it being an EDP, should give at least 6 to 8 hours. From my experience, I have always favoured Armani fragrances over the French haute couture rivals, as I’m a big fan of their Emporio Armani stronger with you range. If you are into your sweet and spiced blends, I’m sure it’s a good choice. I’m going with 8.5/10.

Supermonipower

After running out of a few bottles of my favorite and signature scent Rose Alexandrie by Armani Prive, I thought I would check the store and smell some other fragrances as well. I came across this bottle: Rose d'Arabie. I smelled it.
No joke guys, I ALMOST FAINTED!!! This is the most beautiful Rose and Oud combo I have ever smelled in my life. This is the most romantic perfume I have ever encountered. The richest and most beautiful Rose, a very deep fragrance for the daring woman or the romantic man.

This perfume is 100% unisex. I actually bought this as a gift for someone I was dating, but then we broke all the contact and I got to keep this perfume (which I am very happy about because its an expensive perfume). I AM JUST SOOO HAPPY I HAD TO KEEP IT!

The sillage is AMAZING! I actually put on 3 sprays before I went on a date and my man said the perfume was way too present. Thats a good thing!
SO DONT OVERSPRAY THIS!! now I only put 2 sprays and im good to go.

Longevity is AMAZING as well! Even after I had washed my shirt, you could STILL smell this perfume!

My favorite and definitely signature scent for the colder nights <3

DrRosie

Armani Prive Rose D’Arabie – La Collection des Mille et une Nuits," inspired by the medieval Arabic tales from 1001 nights.
This is a beautiful rose fragrance, just the way I like them- First words which comes to my mind are – “Sexy Beast Mode” This is a cold, green, woody rose, adorned with oud and patchouli, with just a hint of sweet vanilla. Unisex as heck! Sweet/sexy enough for a man and powerful enough for a woman. If you don’t have this beast in your collection, shame on you 😊

Donkar

I personally love this scent and wear it quite often, I feel like it's 70/30% feminine/Masculine, it's not too bright or litchy like, and the oud-patchouli give it some sort of darkness that allows a male to confidentally wear it.
The only downside are the longevity and price... Price is too high for the average- longevity.

I will mention though that some young people told me it smells 'granny', otherwise anyone above 30 whom from i asked liked it.

Djonz3

I might be in the minority here, but I'm not the biggest fan of this fragrance. A blind buy that I honesty a bit regret.

Now for the sent it is not unique but it's a rose oud combo done really well. Smooth, blended well and surprising but it is actually quite soft, not the typical beast mode rose oud and I like this. I get the rose, I get the saffron, I get a bit of oud and not the skanky one, there is a creamy vanilla also, smells like honeyed and it's really beautiful.

Where I am disappointed is the fact that this fragrance just doesn't last ... after 3-4 hours I can barely smell it. It's already quite soft so if it disappears after 3 hours I regret paying the amount that this fragrance was (150 eur for a 50ml)

I also want to add something about the comparisons, as I don't really get the similarity with More Than Words and Velvet rose & oud from Jo Malone. It maybe goes in the same direction but More Than Words has the fruitiness that is added and is really present and makes it brighter + it's way more long lasting. Velvet rose & oud smells more velvety for me with the praline note that gives the fragrance a different feel. It also has that typical Jo Malone smell.

I would give this fragrance a 8,5 out of 10 if this was more present and long lasting, it ends up be a 7.

My honest opinion

LadyIva

This is a beautiful rose fragrance, just the way I like 'em - it's a 'cold', green, woody rose, adorned with oud and patchouli, with just a hint of sweet vanilla.
Disclaimer: my signature fragrance is MFK Oud Silk Mood Extrait, and I compare all rose fragrances to that one.
Since Rose d'Arabie was actually launched several years before Oud Silk Mood, it is very possible that Francis Kurkdjian was inspired by Rose d'Arabie when he created his masterpiece. Then again, both these scents (as well as countless others, such as JHAG Lady Vengeance, Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud, Balenciaga Florabotanica, etc.) were obviously inspired by Arab perfumery, so it's hard to discover the original blueprint for this genre. Anyway, Rose d'Arabie is slightly less powerful than Oud Silk Mood Extrait, but it's still a strong, heady and long lasting scent. It's a bit sweeter than Silk Mood, and it lacks Silk Mood's gorgeous, otherworldly aromatic overlay (consisting of chamomile and papyrus). Yesterday I reviewed Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady, which is yet another almighty oriental rose. In comparison to POAL (incidentally or not, they were launched in the same year), Rose d'Arabie is less spicy and it lacks the powdery component. So, one could say that Rose d'Arabie falls somewhere between Silk Mood and POAL. Oh, and unlike those two, blessed with evocative but somewhat misleading names, Rose d'Arabie does exactly what it says on the tin. To conclude, If you love strong, enchanting, oriental woody-sweetish roses, you'll love this one.

sarage

Deep, rich rose perfume for a diva or a confident, strong woman. Nothing shy, nothing delicate in this rose. I think it's like Byredo Rose Noir on steroids.
The scent has the prestige a private collection perfume demands.

Loredana0108

An ample, rich, deep rose scent that makes me think of noir movies, rain, velvet dresses and candle light. These are my associations when I smell Rose d Arabie. There is something about it like an echo from a different epoch; something nostalgic and already lifeless, yet so beautiful. An old sepia photograph of Gloria Swanson, maybe. This is definitely a rose-patchouli duet at its best , sharp-edged and soft at the same time. Too bad that the magic is over in less than a couple of hours and a hint of spicy rose is all that I'm left with afterwards.

cmagnolia

Rose d'Arabie is opulent, romantic, dark, and gothic.

I love the jammy rose in this, and there is the perfect hint of sweetness to balance the dry earthiness of the oud and patchouli. As someone who is sometimes iffy with oud, I was pleasantly surprised to find that aspect of this fragrance fairly muted and very smooth. So if you typically shy away from oud, this is still definitely worth a try.

This smells quite formal to me, and also seems mature. I am 22, and I feel like I haven't grown into it yet. I will definitely keep my sample, though, and use it for special occasions to come. I expected this fragrance to be this beastly powerhouse with crazy sillage, but Rose d'Arabie is actually quite soft and dissipates faster than I anticipated. So this may be a con for some! Overall, I am definitely pleased, but would not purchase another decant.

scentitar

One of the most Gorgeous Roses on the Market. Damask rose has a spicy, dry and provocative nature that I adore.

5 to 7 hours longevity, fair projection, very good silage.

A special occasion and dress up fragrance for certain. The rumor is that they reformed and ruined this beauty. If so, i might never forgive Armani, this is a masterpiece.

Shwets

This formula has changed.... I was at Harrods last week and when the SA sprayed it, i instantly knew it was different. Even he admitted to it.

The deep luxurious rose was no longer there and it smelt weak and all i could smell was a regular rose oud fragrance. Am so disappointed.

Still long lasting but the sillage is less.

Ramy salah

Best rose oud combo and was one of the 1st to be launched to the market.
Amazing projection.
Lasts for long.
High quality.
If you r looking for a rose oud combo , this is your best catch.

Marianora67

I so want a bottle of this! A devine concoction! Sophisticated, classy, elegant and alluring!
I can’t break down the notes as I don’t know what oud smells like! But It’s blended so well! I guess the softness is from the vanilla! I cant detect the patchouli! But the rose here is gorgeous to me! it’s juicy, rich, dark and beautiful! Almost jammy! With an oriental night vibe!
The crispness I think people smell is a high note of this which is rather sweet but always balanced off with a subdued powderyness that gets better and softer the longer one wears it! It’s like a velvet veil! It lasts forever on me!
I’m in love with this Arabian beauty! Perfect for a date night! IMO:)However I’m happy to wear it even to do the housework!:) I can dream of being a beautiful Arabian princess in colourful silk attire on a camel train! Visiting my beloved in the twilight hours as the dim warm glow of the dessert skies lighten my path! As I vacuum the lounge room floor:) ) A new love to my favourite list:)

Smellmyoud

Great scent after settling but weak performance. The rose and oud combination is my favourite this is the reason I bought this but I'm quite disappointed but the performance. It lasts 4 to 5 hours even if you spray it 3 times, the sillage is limited in range. I stop smelling it on me 6 hours after I spray it. I was hoping for a better performance but the decent is worth it if you love Roses and oud combo

Atinea Noir

Nothing like Noir De Noir. Medicinal oud & soapy rose opening. Settles into a slightly sweet oud-rose mid & dry down. Elegantly crisp - like red lipstick or a pressed white shirt.

corkscrewcurly

I am testing Armani Privé Rose d'Arabie today (spritzed from a decanted sample on my left arm).

PRdA is rather typical of an Occidental or Western rose scent, as it also contains patchouli, which is a very common pairing.

It's also fair to say that the rose/oud combination has also been explored (exploited?) very thoroughly by Western perfumers, since the oud fashion hit the West.

Rose can be a problematic note for me, as it can cause a headache, if it's sharp or "shrill" and - unfortunately - that is exactly how it presents in PRdA. To me, the rose in PRdA smells synthetic.

I've been wearing Prive Rose d'Arabie for over two hours now, and am acknowledging defeat. I have to scrub it off.

Finally, a perfume that actually smells like its price tag... (not that I can actually afford these luxuries anyway), but at least you won't smell it on anyone else... After years of swooning over this perfume every time I visited the department store, I took the dive and bought a full bottle.

It's probably the only rose-y perfume I have fallen for. It's almost perfect - I would only replace the ambroxan for a more classic amber. If I go out for dinner and want to make it more masculine I layer it with Armani Prive Oud Royal.

Sophisticated Seduction...mature adults only!

I am not a big fan of rose fragrances but man o man I LOVE THIS FRAGRANCE!!!!!

As you may have guessed from my title to this review, this is not a dumb reach fragrance for everyday use. This is a fragrance is for special occasions only! An evening fragrance, perfect for a black-tie affair or a winter formal. This beautifully blended fragrance is EH-LAH-GHANT!!!

I recommend this fragrance for a man or woman over the age of 24 or 25. Even a mature young person may not be able to pull it off.

Every time I smell this fragrance there is a seductive dance happening in my nose! It's literally a dance of alluring scents swaying to every note as this fragrant melody unfolds from my skin and into the air titillating the olfactory senses. From the moment I remove the cap and catch the first whiff I'm hooked! And as I inhale again and again more and more deeply something magical begins to happen. At first, I smell a beautiful crisp morning dew on fresh roses, followed by an interplay of a vanillic patchouli and soft unobtrusive amber like a faint somber melody lingering in the background and lastly orchestrating this delightful composition is an oud note that is magnificent and regal adding the perfect note to tie it all together!

This fragrance lasts a long time easily 6+ hours but the projection is only so-so, maybe because it's winter time right now and the cold temperatures might be too much for this delightful dance of fragrance notes. I'll check it again in the summer and see how it performs. As for compliments, I have not been to any events that would be appropriate for this fragrance as of this time but I'm sure they will come in droves when I do wear it in public.

The only derogatory comment I can make about this fragrance is that I think it may have been reformulated. The juice in my bottle is much clearer than the juice in the photo almost as if they used less amber in the newer batches. But still this is a beautifully blended fragrance and I will definitely buy more when the time comes and I would recommend this fragrance to any man or woman over the age of 24.

sibaraa

I finally received my sample of this very hyped fragrance. The opening is very spicy kind of saffron, even though its not listed in the notes, might be from the patchouli, as for Oud it's not super loud, in fact it's very muted. to me it's a saffron rose combo, very similar to jo malone velvet rose and oud.

Tazahr

It is a standard oriental rose oud combo. The rose is very pure, authentic and dominant.

However, there is no reason in my opinion to go for it while tons of much cheaper and similar scents are available from montale and mancera. The quality difference is negligible and the performance is even better such as Mancera black to black.

Calvini

I used to prefer Jo Malone's Velvet Rose & Oud, but now I appreciate Rose d'Arabie's mature sensuality more. Compared to Velvet R&O—so sweet and sticky you want to nibble your arms off, this one has a noticable Chanel-esque patchouli with its chic earthiness and a powdery vanilla that gives it a "pale" sense of sweetness. For some reason I associate this fragrance with the word "mothery," but less sentimental and nurturing, more just someone you find comfort in and look up to.

leogusso

A very light, soft, elegant rose-oud scent. For the first few minutes it may seems pungent and strong, but after a while it turns into a perfume that is like a caress. Although it is considered unisex, I consider it very feminine because rose and vanilla are the notes that stay much more. Oud is present, but it hides a little. In any case, a masterpiece.

Negativity

This is very lovely perfume. My favorite from the prive collection,Cuir Noir too is nice but not too strong. Rose D Arabie is definitely a head turner. If your a guy trying to make a long lasting impression, wear this perfume to a date or dinner. This perfume is special,it takes you back to your first trip to Dubai. I think words aren't just enough to describe this heavenly scent. 10/10

timkal69

I've really been enjoying oud combos lately and when I smelled this off of someone I know, I knew I just had to have it. Perfect oud and rose blend in an Oud Ispahan kind of composition.

Edit: Oud Ispahan is rough around the edges with a certain boldness to its composition, Rose d'Arabie is on the other hand "fluently" serene with an almost velvety composition.

BiancaDrumea

I just bought this and I love it! It is a perfect rose! The oud here is very very sexy. The longer it sits the better it gets. Stunning!

mornasimpson

It is an expensive perfume but worth it. I have been visiting the store for weeks now waiting until I have enough cash in the bank to splurge on this.

It is the smell of the Damascus Rose that is key. So many other perfumes are tuberose or rose hip. So many are overlaid with lemon and grass. This is a deep dark rose scent for the night. I love it.

This is literally the rose smell of my dreams and I can't not buy it when the memory of the dream is just out of reach. It has an underlay of patchouli (dampness) and wood. These are just enough to imagine the rose blown into the house with a warm woody wind.

First spray is a little sweet - but don't worry - it gets warmer, richer, darker and smoother.

adrienn99

for people in the UK - recently bought New Look's Petal Crush, which is a very very close match to this (and fraction of price)! :)

Planet_X

Damascus rose with spicy oud and vanilla, not that much of a patch. Very feminine and not memorable at all.
Almost all my favourite fragrances are rose-based, I never get tired of them and Damascus rose is my favourite of all roses for it is moist, dark, antique, captivating quality. But...I do not get anything exciting in this fragrance at all. While you expect something better of the crowd, something more skilfully crafted - you get none of that.

Longevity is dreadful, developments is not happening, it stays flat on some woody base and you simply counting in your head how many more beautiful roses with oud you smelled/have/had by much MUCH better price. Frankly - I Am disappointed. I would expect something like that from regular designer stuff. For people who want good AND affordable rose/woods/oud combo, that delivers I recommend Habeitak by Swiss Arabian or even 24 Platinum ScentStory.

I think that amount of positive reviews here are due to self-hypnotizing effect from the beauty of the price/design of the bottle/name, not the quality of the juice. Partly it is happening, because people strongly down vote other people's polite and honest opinions, that are different to their own.

Jonmichael02302

Armani at its finest but too feminine for me. A rose beast lacking just enough wood to make it masculine enough for my taste.... definitely get that vanilla in there & the projection & longevity is THROUGH THE ROOF! Not bad... my daughter will love it!

rakan1985

scent : 9/10
sillage : 9/10
longevity :9/10
100% night fragrance
great oud and sweet scent
reminds me of jo malone Velvet Rose & Oud with better longevity

Dimitris.Ko

A harmonious dark rose/oud combo with great performance.
The rose figures in strongly from opening through its lifespan, with the patchouli and oud as a heart.

The real deal happens in the drydown when that gourmand feel kicks in with amber and vanilla. Amber really brings the warmth in this composition. I think the drydown is what differentiates this from its other contemporaries.

Its sexy and almost smells edible just like a top class luxurious Rose fragrance should smell.

Great performance, lasts all day long, without been loud and could be very easily worn every day without overpowering everything in it's way.

This is a classy, elegant, rich and delicious scent that will make people to turn heads. willing to hug you for longer!!!!

Kostas93

This is where your fairytale begins.....Every day with this perfume is a different dream ,every season a different emotion and smell. It is exactly like a live rose that dances different kind of music depends on the enviroment season and temperature. That is a dark rose oudy perfume with hints of vanilla and patchouli that gives you the idea of luxury. It will lead you to a country far far away where one thousant and one night fairytales were made.In a country full of sand and sun.An arabian country full of Palaces, princes and princesses that fall in love for the first time. This perfume will never leave you alone and it will always be at your side like a memory that is fully etched at your life.....You have to try this perfume(journey) if you wanna smell the perfect rose perfume that will totally enchant you....

basma gamal

It is mainly a heavy Spicy rose(a saffron rose kind) with Oud. it is the kind of perfume that an Arabian-Gulf usually wears. It lasts for a long time with a wide projection. It leans on the rose side, however, I would like it better if the oud was stronger but generally it is a good perfume that I enjoy a lot.
ZARA ROSE EXILIR is an exact dupe with accepted projection and longevity with respect to its price tag.

cocolover56

Is this really any different to any other rose/oudh combo out there? I mean, honestly, not really. That's not a bad thing though, because this seems to do it better than most of them. Same thing, but better if that makes sense?

This is super heavy on the rose, though, and that's what may set this one apart. The other ones love to make the oudh super prominent and this can have a very medicinal effect, rather than a woody one and this sort of balances it perfectly. Very similar to Majestic Rose, my favourite rose/ oudh scent, and I think I'd own both just because they make slightly different offerings. This one is a sort of fresh, green rose and Majestic Rose is a supple, burnt and jammy rose.

Very lovely and quite excellent longevity. Can really see the influences coming through for this one. Oud Ispahan can be a bit too medicinal, Rose Nacree can occasionally be too overwhelming... this one is a perfect medium for me

raramoha

I apologize for my insolence but the truth,... when I smell this perfume on my wife, it is necessary to end the night with sex

I have a twin son now because of Armani's versatility

mhobba

Vanillaic amber, I feel is of equal footing with the rose and oud. None truly dominate, but they blend so seemlessly with the supporting patchouli which creates an almost edible feel. I've been told more than once that I smell like Turkish Delights 'in the best possible way' while wearing this.

Freedomlover

@girlyscientist really! !! Thanks for the info regarding the Al Haramain oil I'm defo going to buy and test it i love armani prive Rose de arabie badly want a big bottle. Thanks for the alternative.

JackieM

I own this, Jo Malone Velvet, and TF Noir de Noir, no apologies. All similar, yes, and I would only advise to invest if you really, really love the Rose - Oud combination. I never thought of myself as a rose person, yet here I am. This scent was enough to absolutely convert me.

GirlyScientist

I previously compared this scent to Jo Malone's Velvet Rose & Oud. However, I found one even closer and *much* cheaper. Armani Prive Rose d'Arabie compared side by side with Al Haramain's Madinah (a $10 perfume oil you can pick up on Amazon) is striking. They are not *identical* but they are so close you have to look for the differences. Al Haramain's is a touch sweeter where Armani's has a deeper oud.

If you love this scent, as I do, but cannot justify the $210 price tag, give Madinah a shot. I do love the deeper oud note in Rose d'Arabie, but the differences between the two are *so* slight, that I would much rather spend that $200 extra on something else.

What's that, Dad? No, I said I'd rather put it in my retirement account. That was my plan the whole time.

a7_mad1991

Very passionate scent, was born for winter and cold weather .. huddling close to a fire place, get this if you live in a cold country

GirlyScientist

If you've tried Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud and felt like it was nice... but wrong somehow, try this. I was torn between loving and hating the Jo Malone until the point where I thought that rose and oud might just not be a great match. Then I tried this. Oh my.

This is an evening scent. Not just a run of the mill date night, but something special. I would wear this to the Opera or an extravagant evening wedding. This smells dark, plush and very very sexy.

I thought I wanted a bright garden rose fragrance, but after getting my nose on this, I don't think I could choose anything else.

Carpe Noctem

I bought three samples because I liked it so much. At first spray, I'm not wild about it. So much rose! But the drydown is what makes it worthwhile for me. The rose is muted and the spiciness is delicious. I can see where this would be a good unisex perfume if the men leave the house awhile after the initial rose phase softens. I don't get any patchouli from this at all, but all the spiciness makes up for it.

ANNAFRYS

In love with this collection!
I like them all even its sounds really cheasy :)

jayssen

After months of obsessing about this perfume, I finally purchased it. I love rose fragrances, and for me, this is the king of them all. Rich, deep, syrupy oud and vanilla with a pure rose over the top. It is strong and bold and not for the faint of heart. There are moments when it has an almost phenolic quality, which I adore. If you are after a deep, dark rose perfume, this is it. Three sprays lasts me all day, though sillage does fade after a few hours (but as it starts off more potent than most, this is not an issue).

sarasouzan33

best vanilla rose combo

urankarsnehal

If a modern Arabian princess wore a perfume, then this would be it. It reminds me of a perfume called Bianca by Varzi, an artisan perfumer in Italy. Bianca lasts on my skin for longer than this commercial variety by Armani.

RosalieRosalie

Someone mentionned the rose is very plush in here.
I agree.
Is there not a violet note in this fragrance that adds powder to the rose?
Also, it is not listed, but my delighted nose seems to detect saffron.
I'm in rose heaven, dear friends...

Freedomlover

Dam i so badly want this fragrance it's beautiful I've sampled it a few times its a high quality beautiful fragrance. I'm going to treat myself soon with a big 250ml bottle i wish they'd price it a bit fairer like dior oud ispahan which becomes better value the bigger bottle you buy.
This is a beautiful rose oud combo doesn't matter what culture city or part of the world your in this fragrance is so special.

Ps@Micholas
No way this fragrance resembles anything you find in abundance i wish it was I'd stock up.
And the Arab somalian housewife reference man your seriously talking s**t.

AMajeedQT

Amazing oud & rose. Very well done. Slightly more feminine. Very Arabic. I could swear I smelled the very same smell before. Another fragrance that smells exactly the same & way before Armani came up with Rose d'Arabie. However, this doesn't take away from how amazing this perfume is.

& yet, the price remains. This marketing scheme by the perfume houses of releasing these Arabic-smelling perfumes & put the "Prive" tag on them just to sell them at double or triple the regular price is ridiculous.

Well, unless I find this smell, again, at a decent price, I'm not welling to shell $300 for this.

Desertedbeach

To those asking what the name of the dupe perfume oil is... I have no idea. I have the bottle at home and it doesn't have a name on it. It is a plain bottle with an ornate plastic silver "cover" and was bought for around 25 dirhams at the Lulu supermarket behind Mall of the Emirates in Dubai sometime back in 2010! I wish I could be more specific but if you are in Dubai or Abu Dhabi you really do smell lots of perfumes like this all over the place.

mashraf

This is the best rose oud combo a man can get ,very elegant very deep . Very good performance on both longevity and projection ,worth to have in a collection.Longevity is great and so is projection .

@Hyperbluff try beautyspin, sometimes they have special offers and I've seen this as low as 140. Often around 175ish

hyperfluff

This is a great rose+oud fragrance for those who are new to oud. It's more rosy than oud-y (which is my preference). The rose note is center-stage in first hour, and it's the most glorious damascus rose...sweet, crisp, dewy and in full bloom. Later on the oud sneaks in, never overpowering the rose but rather acting like a pulpit for Queen Rose to stand on. There is also a boozy/smoky nuance I detect at the base that adds a modern sensuality to the scent. I've been sampling alot of oud-y roses lately and I find this one very easy to wear. Very versatile, day or night, rain or shine, it would work anytime and anywhere. Another one I really like is Amouage Lyric (which is heavier). My only complaint is that for the price I would have expected this scent to last atleast 12 hours, instead I got 6-7 hours out of it. It does leave an AMAZING trail of scent though, not overpowering at all, just beautiful enough to make to you feel like royalty. I have a sample that I don't want to run out soon, but when it does, this will probably end up being my most expensive perfume purchase.

Beach_Frag

@Deserterbeach what is the name of the oil you have? Thanks

freddinos

Rose d'Arabie (what a name!) is a smooth, Western rose and oud combo. My impression is that the oud is very subdued in it, I mainly feel the rose.
I see it gets a lot of love on Fragrantica, which is understandable as it is very nice. I cannot stop but feeling that it is surrounded by a hyperbole in its reviews though. I would recommend trying before purchasing a full bottle, as hype can even charge negatively the first impression of a beautiful perfume.
Moderate longevity on my perfume absorbing skin.

adrienn99

@ freedomlover - tried oud ispahan but honestly that smells a bit rough to me. Arabie smells velvety and blended.

Freedomlover

Try oud ispahan if you want a rose and oud combination. It's truly stunning.

turtle91

I managed to buy this at 1/3 of its retail price from a person who received this as a gift but doesn't want to use it. I would say that I'm pretty disappointed with this perfume. I expect something that would blow me away but it is nothing new, just a typical rose oud perfume. It is like Gucci Oud with a little more rose. Oud Royal is better.

clariella

This perfume was the one that made me fall in love with fragrances and collecting scents in the first Place. Prior to this I had only worn the typical "Young" sweet, fruity florals, but when I smelled this at the Armani counter it was love at first sniff. It was way heavier than what I would usually wear, but devine.
It also started both my rose and patchouli obsession, because rose and patchouli are pretty much all I can smell with a hint of Woody notes. No vanilla tho.
I'm on my second 100 ml now and this has become a staple for me around fall and Winter. A Cold weather and night time fragrance for me at least. Not anything I would wear on a sweaty and hot summer day. It lasts very long on me. Have to get into the shower or wash my clothes before it disappears.

those who say this ain't nothing new and there are cheaper alternatives, please come forward and share... :)

WOW, just WOW.

I purchased a sample of this and Tom Fords Jasmin Rouge EdP and I decided to test the Jasmin Rouge 1st as it was the one I was so excited to try. I discovered that I liked it but didn't feel that I had experienced anything out of the ordinary from it, although I love it immensely. Hence I have been waiting to write a review on it. However, today I have been wearing Armani Rose d'Arabie and i'm intoxicated !!!

I've applied it 3 times and on each initial burst, my senses are overwhelmed by the Damascus rose scented jammy, plumbiness of oud. It's such a shock to my senses that I almost fear it will become cloying, but instead it becomes a soothing, deep sensation.

I don't get the patchouli so much in this but I can sense the vanilla which lends to the sweetness, as well as the Arab woods which are on the fragrances periphery... There is definately a spice in there. A warm spice as opposed to a fresh spice and it comforts me like a incensed warm blanket.

I love it in the day and I find it puts me in a mysterious mood with dark lipstick to boot and I love it for winter, when I have had enough of citrus fragrances and it's especially divine at night to lull me to a rose scented sleep.

Rose d'Arabie has become a firm favorite in a very short space of time and I don't mind re-applying just to go on it's journey, which consists of very few uncomplicated notes.

It will take me forever to save for my very own bottle but I can dream, cant I?

Rose d'Arabie...x

I adore you Rose d'Arabie

Desertedbeach

I used to live in the Middle East and spent a lot of time in the various perfume shops - from the standard mall stores like Swiss Arabia, to the tiny perfume shops that sold and mixed hundreds of different oils. Buying perfume in this way was really cheap compared to main brands and you would have something pretty unique if you had them make up different blends. Perfume is such an integrated part of life there that the company I worked for had a building scent budget of £11000 per MONTH to keep the hallways smelling sweet. II used to have long chats with the guy who was employed solely to make sure this happened. He would source really good frankincense for me to burn on my old school pottery charcoal burner leading me to a lifelong fascination with the smell.

Anyhoo, the second I smelled Rose Arabie I recognised it - it's the same as an oil blend I have. It really is so so close that you'd think the blend i have was a dupe - except I bought it before this Rose Arabie was launched. I'm not talking a custom blend either - you can buy this smell all over Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman.

Because of this it's nothing new to me - rose and oud with some patchouli. It's a nicely balanced perfume and the oud isn't too strong (I'm not really an oud fan) but I cannot get round the fact it smells exactly like something I paid around £20 for, possibly in an Arabic supermarket (if my memory serves me well...)

glamgirl

I expected more sophistication from this.

It lasted a long time, and by the end of the night I was happy to wash it off.

woodlandwalk

An easy to wear rose/oud. (There are so many rose/ouds)!

It's very light, suitable for daytime, it's slightly salty animalic with a light touch of transparent rose and ambery vanilla into drydown, but not a sugary vanilla, it's nice.

For those looking for a more distinct oud hit it's probably too subtle, but very nice for those who are not sure they want the tarry edge of oud.

To compare with my favourite rose/oud - MKK's Oud Silm Mood it's far more light, less intriguing but great if you want subtelty. I wouldn't tend to pay this much for something so light, but it depends on your budget!

tatonnement

Blind bought this solely based on reviews and oddly enough there aren't that many reviews of this fume out there. $200, shipping included so I figured it was a "deal"

On my skin...

BLAST OF ROSE

This rose is very, very thick and syrupy, jammy and plush. There is a hint of synthetic in it as it doesn't resemble a hyper-realistic rose. It resembles peppery rose jam getting warmed up in a microwave, or on a stovetop. The rose starts to unfold and spices start to come through. I smell a dash of pepper even though it is not listed. Oud starts to creep in once the jammy rose settles and brings with it a very heavy feel- but this isn't suffocating or overly dark. It's more of a soft, voluptuous heaviness that feels like a comforting blanket of scent. At one point I had a sudden urge to eat my wrist and at times I get whiffs of turkish delight but there is no doubt that this juice is high quality.

It lasts and lasts. Pure sophistication and richness.

"The Giorgio Armani Rose D'Arabie fragrance showcases the damask rose, an ingredient that, for Giorgio Armani, perfectly embodies confident sensuality. It echoes crimson and gold silk, radiant and iridescent, and its melody undulates with sensual curves."

Sounds right.

ConsumerThis

This is a thick and heavy sweet rose. Right off the bat this smells like Andy Tauer rose flash. Smells very well blended and if one is a fan of rose, I say this is a must sample. It's not a spicy rose. It's sweet. Kind of resenious too, but extremely smoothe and well executed. I am going to pass on a full bottle as my rose fix is done with tauer and dsquared black potion, but then again, not one of my favorite notes. But what do you know, I get more complements when I wear rose than any other scent !
Easy on the trigger guys this is beast mode territory!!

johnnybr0801

Very well executed rose scent, one of the bests actually! I only dislike its perfromance, it lasts max 3 hours on me :(
I still think Oud Ispahan is the holy grail of rose/oud scents!

FabulouslyLazy

This is LOVE in a bottle. LOVE in capital letters. And devotion too. Unforgettable, seductive, mind-blowing. Here I want the commercial saying 'yes to the two of us', because that's the vibe I get from this amazing fragrance. Period.

Gigi The Fashionista

Rose D'Arabie is a beautiful and fantastic Oriental perfume. It's an oud and what an oud. The agarwood is fragrant, spicy, strong, smoky, dark, sultry and gorgeous. It definitely smells like an Indian or Arabic perfume. I would not be surprised if this scent fills the air in hotels in Dubai. The rose here is dark and deeply nestled in patchouli. The vanilla is subtle and barely perceptible but I know it's there, making everything last longer and just smell better. Sometimes strong oud scents can be overwhelming but not this one. It's luxurious and sweet but potent. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you my good friend Charita in Mumbai for turning me on to this fragrance.

villey91

I used to not like rose scents but now I've totally fallen in love with them. What I discovered was that I've just been smelling cheap rose scents before.
But then I fell in love with the boozy West Side by Bond 9 and when I smelled this I immediately get the same vibe as with the Bond 9! Fresh red wine-ish dark red rose ! Fabulous.

This scent is boozy and woody. 80% red rose, 10% sweet oud & 10% boozyness.

waruna gomis

First thing I sensed was that Rose D'Arabie is very close to Francis K's Oud Satin Mood.
Very Boozy and Sticky Sweet Rose, but a very rich rose, Deep Red in a swirl of strong sweet syrup. It smells like a timeless classic and in this I mean there is a certain maturity in the fragrance. However It doesn't take me anywhere special, perhaps if I experience something memorable while wearing this it may remind me of that place or mood later.

At initial spray, The Oud takes a back seat, way back, probably 10 seats behind. The sweet-syrup rose remains linear on my skin for a good 2 hours and settles diplomatically with Oud and some other ingredients and remains linear for the next few hours. As I write this, I am a bit bored.

PerfumedParrot

Armani Prive's Rose D'Arabie is the most mouth watering oud rose combo with a tangy blackcurrant bite.
Best in the Prive range.

jojotou

Where has this perfume been all my life? I feel this would have been the one fragrance that would have fit my personality right from my youth. It has that slightly mysterious, sensual - dare I say sexy - spiciness that hints of secret passion and love of history and magic and culture. Yet it is masterfully intertwined with the innocence and beauty, the delicacy and dreaminess of the rose. My other signature scent is Tom Ford's Sahara Noir but that is for when I'm feeling fierce and bold, this is for when I'm feeling slightly more vulnerable, more introspective...

rp6969

@Jomoves I totally agree.

Jomoves

Always check out the Armani line. I was expecting more from this one. It's VERY sweet for a rose scent. Reminded me of strawberry ice cream topping after about an hour. Just not a complex as I would like it to be. If it was a Britney Spears fragrance called Fantasy Rose (Hey, I should patent that!) I could understand, but it's Armani and costs a bomb, so I'm disappointed.

raef_sherif

wether u r male or female, spray Rose D'arabie and enjoy your time feeling it on you , and getting compliments from every one around you

chanelnumerocinq

A rose + oud combination are pretty much always included in an exclusive line of fragrances because those notes together almost always create such dark, strong, seductive scents. It is overwhelming to walk in to walk into a high end department store or perfume boutique and try to choose from all the options of this very overdone concept. However, with the addition of patchouli and vanilla, this Privé is almost chocolatey in decadence. This fragrance is velvety and rich. Vanilla note makes an otherwise potentially dusty dank fragrance smell quite sweet and almost a bit jammy.

I don’t live in an area that is a good market for expensive niche, so I don’t know how Rose d'Arabie stacks up against other rose/ouds but so far this is my favorite of the four Privé that I have tried. Definitely a luxurious quality scent.

oman1234

I love this perfume and maybe I can call it my favorite of all times along with the Noir De Noir from TF !

this is the only one in the prive line that fulfils the meaning of the word "Prive"

Marilimorajaspani

Rose d'Arabie, 2 sprays and after 8 hours I still get positive reactions.
A smoky, sweet, edible rose, elegant, rich and delicious. It feels warm but the rose is fresh enough for a hot day or night.
I love wearing this, even at home and to bed! This and MI are my favourites from this range.
This is longggg lastinggg juice.... be careful!

Joe drake

Let's agree to disagree the opening is a bit strong and harsh though it does settle better after an hour or so.
Unfortunately this has made it slightly difficult to wear in my environment,a lot of people around me have struggled with this especially during the first hour and it's due to this that I'm looking to swap, anyone interested??

Norbert F.

I am not a fan of rose/oud combos, but this one is little different, to me it is 2 fragrances wrapped up to one, the rose and the vanilla note from Montale - Intense cafe + the kind of oud from Acqua Di Parma - Colonia Intensa Oud, longevity and projection are great, great quality, I like it :)

mademoiselle-c

I don't know how to take this fragrance. I was expecting an incense rose with some Amber in the mix and what I get instead is a confused oud. People on here have described this as grapey, which I do not see. I think this fragrance is overly smokey and not rosy at all. Personally, I would have preferred an incensed rose. I don't think I would splurge on a bottle, even though they are gorgeous, but I appreciate what the company is trying to do here. I will enjoy my sample for now and see if it grows on me!

ghent32

I'm a major "frag head", and I'm not a huge fan of rose but I've tried a bunch of rose-based scents and this is freaking tremendous, 10/10 for me, even surpassing Noir De Noir in my opinion. I can't wait until winter so I can buy this and wear it.

landshark321

This is the first of the Armani Prive line that I've worn, and it is a superb mix of rose, patchouli, oud, and vanilla. What a harmonious blend. The rose figures in strongly from opening through its lifespan, with the patchouli and oud as a harmonious heart, with vanilla in the base that comes out a little more gradually in the dry down.

Longevity is great and projection is really superb--it's not as much of a room-filler as Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille or Noir de Noir, but I found it quite strong, contrary to some of the criticisms that the EDPs in the Armani Prive don't last.

The comparisons to Tom Ford Cafe Rose and Noir de Noir are warranted, as both have the Rose/sweet combo. I regard Rose D'Arabie as slightly closer to Cafe Rose due to the prominence of the patchouli, but both are worthy comparisons in area of higher-end, higher-concentrated rose fragrances. Yet Rose D'Arabie is different from Cafe Rose still due to the former's implementation of oud in pairing with the patchouli as opposed to Cafe Rose's pairing of coffee with patchouli.

I'm not an authority on rose, but have definitely found it to be one of my favorite notes, and this fragrance does it as well as any but Noir de Noir.

FORTEZZA

I was burning some time at the Rome duty free when I tried this masterpiece. This is some serious sexy juice. I've been looking for a nice rose fragrance. Serious longevity(20h) and projection; awesome juice.

Edit: After trying some of the more expensive MFK oud's, Montales, and Amouages, i've noticed this has a synthetic sweetness too it that reminds me of some of the new YSL stuff. I don't like it as much, ill stick to TF NdN

smellgood14

Maturity and sophistication in a bottle. It was love at first smell. Rose is done extremely well here and blends with the oud and vanilla superbly. Lasts 12+ hours on my skin and the dry down is just sublime. Easily in my top 5 cold weather scents.

Nataja

Excellent review Dr.Meatball ! I looooooooooove this juice,it smells like no other! Classy! Only for Rose and Oud lovers. This is a signature perfume, you can bet not everyone has this as compared to Coco Mademoiselle.

Dt.Meatball

ONE WORD: classy.

This perfume is gorgeous, its soft and voluptuous, enveloping the wearer in a bubble of deep juicy rose with a haunting quality, the oud/agarwood is not overbearing, it's the a delicious base from which the rose is allowed to be star of the show, the patchouli doesn't make an appearance until the dry down and sits dustily on the skin. Wonderful smell. The chances of you bumping into someone else wearing this at your workplace are slim, prepare to turn heads.

Mtp777mtp

I am an Armani fan. Its almost 12 years me and my wife are wearing Giorgio Armani's fragrances. For the first time i smelled This new fragrance (Rose d'arabie)i really fell in love with it. Its really sensual and appealling, unique and elegant. And finally couple of days ago i bought a bottle in Ataturk airport duty free in Turkey. There is something that really disappointed me is that unlike all the review here in below this perfume's sillage and longevity is very low . However i spent 183 EURO for this but in term of lingevity and sillage is not satisfying at all. The scent is really nice and unique but as i told no longevity and sillage. I wonder maybe i have bought the fake one but when i check the barcode in the internet all the details are true. Does anyone know why? Or if there is another version of this perfume with long and high longevity and sillage. Thanks

silverbutterfly

I've got a sample of this one. Here is intense rose with smokiness of wood, agar wood I guess, patchouli. I don't feel vanilla much, may be it will be on a drydown.

rp6969

Oh, ick! Nearly blind bought this on based on all the great reviews. So glad I didn't. Tried it yesterday at Nieman Marcus and hated it. All I could smell was grape candy, grape bubble gum, grape soda. I couldn't wait to get somewhere to scrub it off, Didn't smell at all like rose to me. Later I detected whiffs of popcorn. Nice for a day at the circus. I suppose. Not for me. I ran to Saks to refill my Kilian Rose Oud. Ah, relief.

kiristarr

Armani Prive fragrances - on one hand, I wish I owned them all, but on the other, I wish I had stopped myself from buying them two fragrances ago, which would leave my ownership at one. They are exquisite. Let there be no mistake. But there is that common note of artisanship, which carries over between them all, and makes me wonder why I would spend nearly $300 on yet another, when they all smell a bit the same.

Oh! But Rose d'Arabie is my favorite for now.

The Perfume Critic

An elegant , sexy and seductive fragrance :)

FeelingRisky

Overall: 10/10
Here's Why:
Beautiful, Bold and Long Lasting.
Such a fascinating Scent - Simple, straight forward and beautifully blended down to the last drop.
This fragrance doesn't 'phase' it is so well blended it is a strong accord of the rose/(light)patchouoli)/Vanilla & Arab Woods.
What's interesting here, is that for the first time EVER a fragrance lasted 24+ hours on me. This one is a beast. What an enchanting, warm and sensual fragrance.
Smooth and intoxicating. Straight forward - not gimmicky, this is the real deal.
Plays well with others, however, why would you want anything to take away from this stunner?
"Rose d'Arabie combines Damascus rose with patchouli, vanilla and Arab woods."

Calligraphy Rose ...

In San Francisco they have the 'bell jars' at Niemann Marcus, and after going through the line up, this is the one I chose to spritz on my hand.

A half hour later I was arrested (figuratively). Wow, what a gorgeous scent! Everything is blended so perfectly that nothing stands out on its own. Very similar to Guerlain's Nacree du desert and some other oud/rose combos I've tried. But in truth, if that is what you are looking for there is no reason to look any further.

This is just a breathtaking, classy fragrance and I"m very glad to have tried it.

Mr. Franco

Why do people insist in: male or female fragrances?!
If you really love and understand perfumery (not need of being an expert) you probably should know that genres in this kind of art (or subject, if you will) doesn't matter at all! Disagree? Ok... But I do share the same thinking of Luca Turin, Chandler Burr, Jean Claude Ellena... IF YOU LIKE THE PERFUME GO AHEAD AND WEAR IT! Really pisses me off people who wants to declare what is correct and what's not! We are all able to make our own choices! Who says that florals is only for the girls? Same with woods for the boys...

Well, having unloaded my heart... Let's start talking about this beauty: ROSE D'ARABIE is first of all - astonishing! A bit "montalesque"? Ok, it could be. But I do smell more class here!
The rose is the queen and the oud the king... Married in a clear night sky, a warm night with stars shining out by a wonderful oasis! Back to earth: vanilla and patchouli - gorgeous and subtle - ends this masterpiece with golden key. Projection and longevity are good to very good!
I do love this fragrance! And if you think the bottle is too "manly" check the L'Or du Desert edition, I guess is more "girly" - same fragrances... About the smell: there ain't no more to say

nayesha

I am in love with rose oud combos, I was reluctant to try it due to the vanilla not a fan of vanilla ! The vanilla in this one blends very well not dominant in anyway ! It's a very classy sexy yet young and sophisticated fragrance! Unusual scent like my favourite ysl majestic rose very complex ! A must have ;)

muzzbait

this, for mine, is as close to the holy grail (velvet rose oud by jo malone) as you can get. this is the number two oud-rose combo, as far as i'm concerned...where oud rose (kilian) is too sweet, and velvet mood (kurkdjian) is too medicinal, this one is right where it needs to be. snug, like a cat sleeping in a tight spot between the couch and the wall or in a strange box of some sort. it's amazingly balanced and totally self assured and self confident. love it. love love love it...

silverbutterfly

Very lovely, classy, rich rose. I definitely put it in my wish list.

christianne1

Without a doubt, one of the best rose/patchouli/ouds I have ever smelled. It is just stunning. Slightly sweet but rich, perfectly balanced...one thing does not overpower another. Deep dark rose....smooth patchouli and oud that does not dominate, it merely compliments. Not too spicy either - just enough. This is one of those that gives off a fluffy cloud of scent that seems to hover above the skin without seeming to actually be ON the skin. I love when that happens. When you first spray it, it is truly gasp worthy. Completely unisex. So glad I finally tried this...simply amazing.

UdayLalan

This certainly is excellent. One of the best rose and Oud ever. Gets compliments through out. Leaning towards slightly gourmandish rose. Absolutely beautiful.

Mooniq

Lovely!! Deep, dark mature Roses in plenty wellmixed with oud, vanilla and patchouli. No sweet notes at all and I love it!! A true uni-sex scent.

Underbar! djupa, mörka, vuxna rosor - i massor, välmixade med oud, vanilj och patchouli. inga söta noter alls och jag älskar den! en sann uni-sexdoft.

scentdoctor

this has monster longevity.. one spray on the upper hand and i can still smell it after 24 hours a shower, washing my hands probably 10 times

Houdini4

Woah... this is special juice!
For a combo which has been done to death this is a remarkably classy take on the theme.
I love it... I must admit, Rose d'Arabie is so rich and opulent you can just melt away into it...it's truly heavenly.
I'm very peticular about my rose scents and my oud come to mention it.
Quite full of rose this one but not to the point where it's too much. This is not too sweet but rather dark and velvety as it should be with a hint of vanilla also...and the oud?
Well the oud is prominent and perfectly balanced to give a middle eastern feel.
Sillage and longevity are very good in the realms of what you'd expect for the price.
Would I wear it? Probably not as I'm very sparing with the attention paid to rose scents in my collection but I appreciate the artistry of this fragrance and it's up there.

Hellita

What a BEAUTY of a fragrance! Normally I don't like rose in perfumes, so I was surprised how much I actually enjoy it. This is just out of this world! Such a pure, interesting and somewhat sensual fragrance, even though it's not heavy in any kind of way. Beautiful. I need to have this.. soon!

EDIT:
I went back to the store and considered buying Rose d'Arabie today, but then I also tried Armani Prive Figuier Eden (EdT) and that was amazing as well, I bought the Figuier Eden instantly, but Rose d'Arabie is still on my wishlist.

SECOND EDIT:
So I went to the Armani counter today to try this out again, almost a year after the first time. This time Rose d'Arabie turned quite manly on my skin and that part of it stayed with me for hours and hours (yes, because this stuff does last!). I enjoy smelling it from the bottle, but I'm back to my previous attitude: that most rose scents are not for me. A beautiful creation though, just not geared towards my likings.

Magic Carpet Ride.....
I am astounded at the beauty of this fragrance! I received a small sample of this wonderful scent, and didn't bother to try it for a long time. I don't own any Armani scents, so wasn't anxious to try this, as wasn't familiar with the Prive collection. I was blown away with this fragrance! Rich...that isn't even the word..more like deep, and haunting. A magic carpet ride..intriguing, and long lasting. Longevity is incredible, as very few fragrances will last on my skin, but, this is like a wonderful song, it has it's high notes, and mellow notes, but plays loud, and clear! What a rose! A leading lady, supported by Oud, Patchouli, and vanilla. All the notes are there, the opening is teasing..like a cologne. Interesting, but beckoning you to wait. Then, the beginning of the song starts..a slow melody of violet, saffron, with a twinge of rose. Then, a burst of notes! It evens out to something really special..The rose seems to float in between the gorgeous patchouli and Oud. I have never had a fragrance that drifts..it is soft one moment, then strong the next moment, and this is after wearing it for 8 hours and more! I'm in love...this is my Magic Carpet Ride Fragrance!

jedrzejowskia

This is truly an amazing perfume.
The top notes of a nearly paella-like saffron mixed with oud, rose, dates, star anise, cinnamon and vanilla tickle my nose and bring to life the true gourmand of gourmands. This is sooooo gloriously foody, like a Moroccan princess' kitchen.
I was scared it was going to go completely fishy but I think it's just the saffron playing tricks on my nose, I use quite a lot of it in my cooking and together with cinnamon it is the two of my absolute fauvorite spices. Who hasn't tried cinnamon in mince is missing out. But I digress.

This fragrance completely threw me off my feet. For anyone who doesn't have access to the real arabic perfumes this is the crown prince. However, a few minutes after i sprayed, this smelt very, very familiar. A smile spread on my face, I already have this perfume! I own a true oud creation! in a tiny bottle in my perfume collection lives the spirit of this fragrance. The real deal. I am blessed for having it since unfortunately for some reason, the Armani creation lasts only for a mere 3 hours on me.
My Real Oud King lasts a week.

Edit: As I have no idea what my oud-blend is called since it's in a little unbranded crystal flacon, could anyone in the know of Arabic attars, please enlighten me what would be the closest smelling to this? I love the saffron, warm foody note with the vanilla......

An incredibly rich, complex scent. The Armani USA website describes it as enchanting, which I think it an excellent descriptor. In addition to the rose and oud pairing, to my nose and those who have tried my bottle it has a distinctly creamy quality to it, and I'm surprised incense is not listed as a note as it is clearly present. I find it to project strongly throughout, even 8+ hours after application there is still discernible silage. Simply a superb fragrance.

for mine, this is akin to MFK velvet rose. deep, majestic rose in symphony with the oud and the patchouli adding to the mix. simply wonderful...

"Rose d'Arabie" is a glorious rose - aoud scent! Even though I have tried and loved many "Rose d'Arabie" really stands out I think because of the patchouli. This is something in between Montale's "Aoud rose petals" and JHAG "Lady Vengeance" - cold, distant rose with aoud and bits of patchouli.
What I love most about "Rose d'Arabie" is it's playfulness even though this is extremely elegant perfume, in the opening and drydown it even shows some gourmand quality. In opening there is dark chocolate underneath the initial blast of aoud and rose, but the dry down brings candy rose yet again with bits of aoud. What I enjoy here is the fact that unlike other rose-aoud creations, this is not loud and could be very easily worn every day without overpowering everything in it's way.

A masterful creation I did not expect at all from Armani. Worth every penny.

The initial spray is amazing. its a seductive rich rose oud mix, very nice. as someone with an Arab background i am custom to the smell of musc and oud and the oud in this is nice, ok but you can get stronger, nicer than this for much much cheaper.

The opening is just great!, smooth, dark, rose with the oud keeping it balanced. as it dries down after about 1-2 hrs the oud comes up giving it a warm Turkish Delight sort of smell, really nice!. this lasts for another hour or two at which point the rose is almost completely gone. leaving 8+ hrs of just oud with slightly noticeable rose. some people may think this is a bit on the feminine side especially in the beginning, but iam a man and i really like this one, this kind of rose smell but darker stronger should be in more male fragrances, its good different! . 8/10

But i feel like i paid almost £200 for the first 1-2 hrs of this fragrance because after that its just oud and you can find top quality oud for less than £50, especially in some places in London you can get oud for pennies. its a shame because i would have given this 10/10 if it stayed the way it smelt at the opening for longer.

If you are new to ouds or just trying different ouds this is a definite purchase no doubt. but if you know your ouds and have many oud fragrances then i would sample first or check for better rose ouds.

My affair with oud started when I first discovered Amouage Opus V. Disliked by many, this was the second scent that almost made me cry I liked it so much. Opus V on my skin smells glorious, rich, smooth and I love it to bits. Then I went on a smelling spree and smelled everything I could think of on the theme: rose and oud. The winner was Guerlain Rose Nacree du Desert. RndD smells so smooth and yummy that on a number of occasions I almost licked my wrist, but at the same time it doesn't smell like a fruit jam. Amazing. After a while I craved for a difficult rose, Juliette has a Gun Midnight Oud seemed to fit. But as I discovered it turns into one of most subtle, delicate and innocent roses I ever smelled. So I was still searching. Jesus del Pozo Arabian Nights in black bottle is for man but I bought it anyway. Very, very good but it's more about oud and spices and there just isn't enough rose for me. And then last week I revisited Armani Prive Rose d'Arabie. And this is it! Sharp, harsh, scratchy, difficult rose. When you inhale really deeply it almost feels like its going to slice the tinny veins in your nostrils - and that's exactly why I like it. Because it's NOT smooth, NOT easy, NOT sweet. I like it because it's a challenge. I find the beauty of this fragrance in its difficulty. Maybe it's like with girls liking bad boys. .. And one bad boy Rose d'Arabie is!
And just a side observation: why do people feel the need to compare fragrances, rate them, complain how many rose and oud fragrances there are? We all have different tastes. We all enjoy different things. In my journey through rose and oud scents I felt joy that there is so much on the market, because that gave me many options and freedom of choice.

A dark fragrance, the rose is there but it doesn't seem as strong or natural. it's creamy, sweet, musky, woody. The versatility in this would be for night time use only, unless mixed with a more neutral scent. Not impressed. Try it.

There's limited edition of this, full of golden water.

I completely agree with Eeyore III so I wont add too much. This does indeed smell like Jo Malone's Velvet Rose and Oud, but not quite as sweet. A hint of oud is present in the dry down but this fragrance is definitely more about the rose. I wasn't too impressed with the longevity on my skin. For me, Kilian's Rose Oud is way superior and seems to go on forever (unfortunately it is also very expensive).

PolarBear2

I tried to like this, but it smelled like Chinese herbal medicine. I'll go for Oud Royal or Cuir Noir (not the Cuir Amethst).

i think they forgot to add incense as a main note in this perfume as one of its main notes in the front page. . .because i sure do smell lots of incense and indian incense more than anything else, which gives it a rather cheap smell ,the rose in it is not that warm or velvety ..its a sharp short lived rose that is in the top notes ..yes they call it arabian rose but to me i don't smell arabian rose ..i smell indian incense and lower grades arabian perfumes ..it simply doesn't have that extra dimension ..no depth.. no history or full composition of harmonious notes and integrity of characters ..you smell everything distinctly.. in its own place.. like two lovers who live in separate worlds.. each into their own realm of being.. no harmony between the notes..i hate to sound mean or give negative reviews.. this is not a negative review.. its just my impression of the perfume.. don't get me wrong its a respectful perfume trying hard to be an arabian legend but in a modern way.. but it just doesn't happen.. arabian rose and oud has a mystery a fulness and lushness that armani lacks dramatically ..its trying to stay clean or simple or sophisticated but it missed that arabian rose must be full, and the incense is just a killer.. i remember really cheap perfumes or incense burning in indian allies or just imported indian bakhours and incense that we used to smell as children in narrow markets ..
i didn't buy it ,it was my husband s birthday yesterday and i came out and smelled incense on him from about 7 meters away and i asked him are you wearing some armani private collection thats smells arabic?and he was so shocked because he had it on all day just a small spritz on his arm but i could still smell it.. he said i should work in the investigation bureau as a detective for scents! anyway he got it as a gift. apparently he had told that person that he likes it and they got for him.never the less i didn't want to tell him the awful truth about it, first of all, it smells so feminine.. and second of all, its so cheap.. and last but not least, it has that incense all over it, as if you have just walked out of an indian temple..i mean no offense to any culture or people.. its just my description of the perfume..i apologize for any misunderstanding..
its an arabic perfume made in a lab.. with no love involved or heritage.. for the 300 $ you can get 10 arabic cheaper scents that smell more or less the same as this"wanna be"an arabian rose ..
there is just one thing i like about it.. its hmmmm i can't even pinpoint it yet.. maybe the crispiness of the rose.. maybe maybe its the oud they used thats giving it this negative incense vibe.. when the oud is not as pure, it can result in such synthetic ness..
i am sorry i was so harsh on this one but maybe i will retest it and see how it develops i keep smelling my hand ,the cooler it gets the better it gets i guess.. but i can't get over the incense.. so if you are an incense lover do go for it ..its a geometrical perfume ..limited.. perfect.. in its own simplicity and grandeur.. but lacking substance..and dimension

Rose d'Arabie captures the "rose gold" version of rose in the perfume world. Do not expect a monster sillage oud, it is just there to support the glorious rose.

First spray: you are immediately surrounded by a voluptuous and radiant rose. Nothing syrupy or overly green here. It carries the air of warmth and femininity, with a rich depth lurking beneath the rose field. As the perfume melts into my skin, it gets increasingly sweet. The rose becomes very honeyed, with a good dose of creamy vanilla. I can smell the leathery, slightly medicinal oud, but it is certainly not overpowering. Vanilla being dominant, the heart reminds me of Lancome's Tresor In Love/ Midnight Rose minus the fruitiness.

As the glorious rose wears off, the scent dries down to a soft turkish delight scented patchouli cloud. I must admit, Rose d'Arabie mesmerised me from the first spray. However, I would much prefer if the vanilla was turned down a notch.

This fragrance is definitely romantic, ultra feminine and sensual. I can see it being a crowd pleaser and has great potentials to attract the opposite sex.I recommend it, this perfume compliments women of any age.

Jack_Hunter

A lovely rose dominants this composition which is mixed in with the oud and vanille. These notes are supported by patchouli and I have to say this is a very nice smelling fragrance.

Now the Oud seems to give the vanille a slight lacquer boozyness and coupled with the rose you get a creamy rosey smell which is how I would describe the scent with few words.

Eeyore III

OK, I’ll be a minority of one. It won’t be the first time.

Armani Prive “Rose D’Arabie” offers a somewhat interesting oudh-and-rose pairing, but the whole somehow amounts to less than the sum of its parts. It opens with a deep rose accord, suitable—in terms of conventional gender stereotypes—for either gender, though leaning to the “feminine” side. However, there is also a sweet, gourmandy note layered on top, which is a bit reminiscent of Jo Malone “Velvet Rose & Oud,” or even M.Micallef “Rose Oud,” although it is much more restrained than either of those. Nonetheless, it is what I will call a gourmandy sweetness which is layered on top, and is gone within an hour, rather than being a rose-sweetness buried within, as for example in by Kilian’s epochal “Rose Oud.”

At first, though, it seems as if “Rose D’Arabie” will at least tilt roseward, rather than being, like most rose-and-oudh pairings, oudh-dominated. However, the sweet note and the dark rose each depart, separately, within the first hour, and the rose that thereafter remains is of a much lighter nature than the first rose, and the perfume takes a rather common oudh-dominated direction that, after 2 hours at most, enters a drydown very similar to that of Montale “Black Aoud” (although the heart notes in “Black Aoud” last longer, so it takes it a few extra hours to get there). After about 4 hours, at least on my skin (semi-olive, perfumes love it, male), “Rose D’Arabie” is just another pleasant skin scent, whose end point one neither remembers nor cares to register.

For those seeking a rose-dominated perfume of this type, by Kilian’s “Rose Oud” is far superior to “Rose D’Arabie,” with a gorgeous dark rose that emerges for 8+ hours and a rich oudh/guaiac conjunction happening underneath. On the other hand, for those seeking an oudh-dominated rose-and-oudh pairing, “Black Aoud” and its kin are as good or better than “Rose D’Arabie” at half the price. Juliette Has A Gun “Midnight Oud” is similar and half the price, although it “falls off the cliff” even more radically at about 2 hours, in terms of longevity. Even simple, plain oudh oil lasts far longer than “Rose D’Arabie,” I venture to observe.

There apparently are many for whom “Rose D’Arabie” strikes just the right balance between oudh and rose, and many who like the sweetened opening, but I am not among them. This perfume never conjured Arabia in my mind’s eye, much less the mythic Arabia of yore, but merely 2011 Europe/America, and corporate marketing. That being said, I did like the sheer quantity of rose compared with most oudh-and-rose pairings, and the overall quality was good, but …

My score: 6.5/10

This scent is so enchanting.
I absolutely fell in love with it, the first time I sprayed it on my wrist.
It has a great silage, and the longevity is outstanding- on my skin it lasts for about 14hrs or more, but on clothing even longer.
Too bad it's so expensive, but definitely worth the price.
