The reviews by Laiidee and Barbarossa are spot-on. This can be overwhelming if overapplied, the woody notes are definitely intense, as the name implies. I also agree that warmer weather offers better performance, it can fall flat and bother the nose in the dead of winter, with no humidity or heat. Wearing this today has been very pleasurable, it's 45 degrees farenheit, windy, and raining! The beautiful sweet rose really stands out.

cradiata

I absolutely love the 90s vibe of this perfume!!! Takes me back to a time when perfumes had character.

adriennb

I'm not a big fan of floral notes, especially rose but the florals in this perfume are beautiful. It's a very sophisticated scent, good for every season, day and night in my opinion.
It lasts a lot and projects very well, people can always smell it on me and I also smell it on myself. It's probably my most complimented perfume.

Gionnijulius1820

I absolutely LOVE the ENTIRE idole line! They do a very good job at actually maintaining the original DNA in each idole frag, but giving each one their own little twist. The original Idole is a fresh, dewy, rose, jasmine musk, very potent, with great sillage and longevity, very much a summer/spring frag. The intense has that exact same rose, jasmine, musk dna, but it is warmer, better for fall & winter, day or night but preferably day imo. It's a happy, floral, warm, rose, musk scent for chilly weather. I absolutely enjoyed it, I feel it's VERY versital for any age, any occasions, and for most seasons besides summer really. If you enjoyed the original, you most definitely will enjoy this one as well, as they are VERY similar, just the OG is more fresh, & intense is warmer, and more dense. It last a very long time on my clothes...like about 8-12hrs, projecting for like 5-6hrs, and the rest just being a close to the body scent. Projected very well and i get SO many compliments, everytime I wear any of my idole frags!

Aeternitas

I haven't tried the original Idole, so I can't compare, but this is such a gorgeous fluffy rose.
The rose here is authentic and intense, but not dark in any way. It's slightly woody, gently sweetened, along with a sophisticated brightness coming from the citrus notes.
This is not a girly-girl rose, nor is it your old-fashioned grandma's rose. It's perfectly centered. I love that it isn't a soapy, airy barely-there rose. Instead, it's very lush.

If you love rose, I don't think you could go wrong with Idole L'Intense. I see other reviewers have trouble with the patchouli, but on me I barely get any patchouli. Body chemistry is such a fickle and curious thing!

Longevity is great, I could still smell it on my clothes the next day. Sillage is also fantastic as my husband could smell me from across the room... it's also one of the few perfumes I've tried that he actually likes, which is saying something.

PrincessMarita

I enjoyed this perfume in the beginning when i first bought it but i am not gonna lie, i kind of spontaniously bought it. The opening was very nice, hence why I bought it in the first place. After testing it on me a couple of times it really bothered my nose because it was so strong and grown up i kept smelling it on myself (in a bad way). It could be the patchouli in the base that just doesn't match my skin chemistry or perhaps its just too harsh as there are several perfumes with patchouli i can't handle. I ended up giving the perfume to my younger sister as she loves it. If you enjoy Si by Armani then i think you should test out this one as well.

iNayla

Most compliment getter by other women.

If u need one floral perfume For all year around, night and day. Go for this, very feminine (dont let intense scare you its not heavy at all) crowd pleasing and can be a blind buy. Not sweet not powdery. Just juicy rose

This is the best one in the idole line for sure.

This review is from someone for whom Idole l'Intense has become one of her favorite fragrances. I've heard comparisons with Irresistible, but I think they are substantially different scents. The opening is fresher in Irresistible, but in Idole, the citrus opening is warmer. I prefer the dry down of Idole Intense with its light floral warm woods, much more interesting. I was afraid that those jasmines were going overpowering, but they aren't. I've used it only during Fall and Winter and it's an elegant floral citrus fragrance. Citruses ripe during cold weathers after all!

On the other hand, I think this one is closer to LVEB L'extrait. Only I like L'Extrait less, where the woods are drier and the citruses less juicy. I'd say that L'Extrait smells expensive but Idole l'intense smells sophisticated.

This is my most complimented perfume 🥰

Lancome Idolê Intense

Notes:
Top: Bitter Orange and Mandarin Orange
Middle: Turkish Rose, Grasse Rose, Musk, Egyptian Jasmine, Jasmine Sambac and Jasmine
Base: Cashmere Wood, Patchouli, Madagascar Vanilla, Acácia, Sandalwood and Cedar

Thoughts on this purchase: I absolutely love it!

First review on skin....

The fragrance develops slowly on the skin and each note is beautiful to identify. It has a smooth and silky blend, and the dry down is everything. I adore the touch of woodsy mixed with the vanilla, as the vanilla isn't too sweet or boozy. I think the patchouli is side by side with it. It tones the sweetness of the vanilla and the vanilla prevents the patchouli from going dirty. I don't feel like the other notes disappear at all either.

The white florals are delicate next to the roses. This is really nice because white florals can sometimes be too sharp for me. The roses seem to let the white florals shine but round them nicely so they don't get out of hand. They seem to float above the dry down on my skin so at any given sniff, I can catch them in my scent bubble. I get a bit of Amyris Femme Extrait in the way the woodsy notes delicately play with the vanilla and florals. It is definitely warmer on the skin and I don't get the powdery note I thought I would get when viewing the fragrance accords. It's warmer and more of a dense cloud of musk. The musk can be the light powdery note they speak of, being it is denser than what many know musk scents to be. I really enjoy this fragrance.

I think if you have been feeling the MFK Amyris Femme or Amyris Femme Extrait but don't want the price tag, I would go for this one. I think you can wear it all year round, and it could be a possible signature scent. It is definitely longer-lasting than the original as it was still on my hand the next morning. I am glad I purchased the 2.5oz. This fragrance would absolutely shine on a windy day any time of the year. I think the scent bubble these delicate woods and silky florals bring are deserving of their own nature-made "Beyonce Fan." Enjoy!

A couple of months ago I visited Douglas, and out of curiosity I sprayed Idole L'Intense on a ribbon. I put it into my pocket and forgot about it. Some days later I found the ribbon and immediately ordered a bottle of that scent. It's beautiful when it settles down on my skin. And for some reason, to my nose, it's a soft mix of La Nuit EDP + Hypnose. I absolutely adore it, but I understand it might not be for everyone. Try it before you buy it - it must match your skin's chemistry. If people start asking what you're wearing, you know it's well-matched scent for you.

lilbit

Warm, woodsy, semi-sweet floral. Very reminiscent of Gucci Guilty, but with hints of original Idole. Honestly, if I weren't a fan of woods & patchouli, this would be a pass for me. It's quite different from the original--less fruity, more powdery/soapy and you definitely get patch with this one, but it's well blended. The original is inoffensive enough to be worn anytime, but this to me would be too overwhelming for 90 degree humid summers, but love it for fall/winter!

PerfuMEOW

Unfortunately, not a fan. The rose and patchouli ruined it for me.

Sarra816

Simply adore the sweet woodiness this perfume gives. Putting Turkish roses and Egyptian jasmine in the same perfume is always an amazing combination.
Even my dad smelled this and wanted a bottle to layer with his fragrances, so can see why some people think it is more masculine compared to other flankers.
Overall, an elegant and gorgeous scent which smells similar to the original Idole -- so clean and simple. gets lots of compliments.

plushbby

it might be aggressive right after apply, but oh my! the drydown is so soft, elegant and feminine.
definitely for mature women i think

b.a.denney

So, I went ahead and blind bought this because I found a good deal on it. I have three or four other versions of Idole, but honestly I struggle with them. They come off a little laundry-esque to me. The note I was afraid of in this was patchouli, because it's ruined many a perfume for me, and it's just a note I hate.

I wasn't even brave enough to test this on my wrist. In case I hated it, I didn't want it lingering on the sweater I'm wearing today. It's currently spritzed on the back of my right hand. This is now my favorite in this line, and I was expecting to dislike it. The patchouli is so well blended that I can't even really detect it. This is very much Idole, just better. I'd like to see a version even more woody than this. Cedar also is a note I hate, it usually goes hamster cage on me, and overtakes everything. Not so in this perfume.

If I could created my own Idole, I'd start from this version and amp up the cashmere wood note and the sandalwood note, and scale back a little on the rose. It might even be interesting with a light touch of benzoin. To me, this is the best of the bunch so far.

Update: As I wore it today, it became much more like the OG when it got past the half hour to an hour mark. It's just not different enough from the original. It too gives my clean laundry vibes, unfortunately.

Samouna

I'm in love with l'intense despite its simplicity. I like usually more complex fragrances but this one took my heart. It is soft and feminin without being fade.

b.a.denney

Why, oh why did they have to add patchouli? How noticeable is the patchouli? I have the entire line except for this Intense and the new "Now" Idole. Most of my buys are blind buys, opinions appreciated before I do a blind buy of this.

SummerRose

Quick Story. A few months ago I came across Lancome Idole L'intense. The sales person asked me to try it. I was hesitant as I have the original Idole and I've been on the fence with it. I tried L'intense and it was just so much more...sexier, bolder and deeper. I was so pleased. It's feminine, it projects well and it's long lasting. I bought it on the spot. A week later, I got a backup bottle. It is swiftly becoming one of my favourite perfumes. I'm just LOVING it!

Snob Smells

I love it. I love it. I love it.

- The end

NessaRose

By far the best Idole scent, hands down! I didn't love the original, hated Aura, OBSESSED with Intense. Planning to buy a backup... I have a sneaking suspicion this one might be phased out sooner than the others. It's sexy, smart, bossy. Definitely signature scent worthy. If you love Prada Paradoxe and YSL Libre Intense, blind buy this! You will love it! My only criticism is the bottle design - it doesn't stand up on its own! Honestly even that doesn't phase me - it fits perfectly in a container with my travel sizes.

Barbarossa

Nahhh it projects as hell!
EVERYBODY!!! I mean every person I meet when I wear this compliments me! I myself bought it cause I couldn’t stop sniffing some girl at the university that was always sitting behind me and drive me crazy with this scent (we end up being besties).
Sometimes I do struggle with it. sometimes because of the wood, sometimes the florals here are too much for me. But on the days (when probably my hormones decide to chill a little) when those things don’t bother me it’s freaking gorgeous!!!! Even my boyfriend when he sniffed it from the cap didn’t like it even a little bit (or the day when I oversprayed it) but otherwise it drives him crazy as well that’s how good this stuff is.
But be very careful!!! It has beast projection in my humble opinion. And when oversprayed it can suffocate people around you, starting with you. I did this mistake a few times and since that time I struggle with it sometimes. The catch with this fragrance is to spray a little and let the chemistry of your skin do it’s magic, and no matter how good the smell gets do not add any more sprays, cause than most surly you end up ruining it.
Very (I mean veryyyy) woody floral
(I get a lot of sandalwood) with some musk undertones. I don’t get orange or patchouli.
P.s. I wear mainly on the warm nights. In winter it stays a little flat. IMO the wood (or the musk) doesn’t shine as it does on warm sweaty nights!

desislava.atanasova.3914

in my opinion , this is too much geranium. I feel l no patchuli, no vanilla, no jasmin.
The good news are that it´s stays close to the skin, and last quite long time

Maria19

I bought it blind because I got it for a good price. Good buy. Someone has said that if you don't like the original scent, try this one. I agree. This is an intense modern smokey rose scent that differs from the original quite a lot. At least on my skin. It lasts a long time on my skin, I applied it in the early evening, and it still smelled good in the morning.

ruxela

probably the best of this line. i adore it! the rose and the jasmine...OMG

Lotte_Liese

This is a really well-blended fragrance, the notes are hard for my nose to pick apart, but in this dance, rose leads the way. Elegant, feminine without being too floral or too anything- for the put together woman wanting a great day scent with definite presence.

MandyBloom

Big velvety rose in full bloom is definitely a headliner of L’Intense. It’s so realistic you can feel the thorns on your skin. Just rose, orange peel and luscious creamy jasmin. It just smells like a distant and melancholic memories of sunny rays glistening on the golden curtains of hotel room in Vienna on late summer afternoon. Cozy and sad at the same time, kinda love it.

thaochipnd

Hey ladies, I say buy this now, it smells so good!!!

I already have the OG and Nectar versions of the Idôle line, but I personally don't want to stop. I love the beautiful Rose of the Idôle line, it makes me feel like a “Goddess” when I wear it. So I went on to blind buy Idôle Intense, and believe me, it doesn't disappoint!

Still a fragrant Rose scent, but stronger and thicker. Rose mixed with Wood flavor, so Idôle Intense is very mature and sexy. This scent is suitable for autumn and winter, but it is still usable on summer evenings and air-conditioned environments. Its fragrance is very luxurious, long lasting. In my opinion, Intense is the mature version, the strongest Rose scent. OMG, it's amazing that Lancôme has released such a magical Idôle fragrance! Honestly, I like Intense and Idôle OG best, they are also the best versions of the Idôle line in my opinion. When I wear Idôle Intense, I imagine this is a Earthy Pink Rose, like Koco Loko Rose. Intense is the perfect fragrance for date nights and epic wine parties, on normal days she's a powerful lady.

Rating: 100+/10. I will always be a loyal follower of the Idôle

tchernboc

completely obsessed with this!

it starts off smelling like the inside of a perfume shop in the 00s. it was a connotation so nostalgic i was barely able to concentrate on the notes - when i was, i was baffled. the bitter orange and mandarin orange in the opening make this such a juicy delicious fragrance without being cloyingly sweet - just the perfect amount of sweetness! the orange notes stick for a good while and then the florals mix with the musk for a sensational drydown. this fragrance gets better as it sits (i almost prefer it most after 9h, it turns into a very warm and woody skin scent). the rose didn’t come through on my skin.

yunaro

love this perfume. it’s a very woody floral (mostly rose). sophisticated. reminds me of the 90s. in a good, not an outdated way.

sadly it is being discontinued :(

Jazz10!

Oh I’m in love.
The Jasmine and Cashmere are the most noticeable notes to me, giving it a more creamy, seductive vibe than the original.
Still has the sweet floral DNA.
All around so pleasant. It’s great for every day, it’s feminine and inoffensive.
For an intense eau de parfum, the sillage is pretty intimate. That’s the only con 🩷 will be restocking on this one

I emailed the Lancôme brand and they did inform that the flanker isn’t being discontinued
7.5/10

Yasmeena0

This is my all time favourite perfume 💗it’s feminine and classy .. every time i wear it i get soooo many compliments from men and women .. lasting power: 8H sillage: 2H

MahaS

If you don't like the original give this one a try. I really love this, the citrus at the opening is gorgeous and lasts for quite a while. I had ignored this fragrance since I really don't enjoy the original. I recently got rid of all my rose fragrances and this is not one that I want to get rid of because to be honest I don't smell much rose in it. It do agree with those that say that it's woody. I love it!

yzmo91

It smells like diluted rose syrup with woody notes in the background. It's sweeter than the original which has a lot more space for airiness. The rose here is more dense. Rose lovers might like this. It has a good longevity and smells quite consistent. Blooms beautifully in colder weather, but also wearable in heat with fewer sprays.

Melis.t

More woody and cozy interpretation of Idole og. Jasmine is amplified however you still do get the rose, here rose gives more mature vibes. It's a scent I find to be really comforting and cashmere-like but I don't love it entirely because it smells like a fabric softener. I like og better because of its sparkling quality.

jazzscent13

If you told me this was a single note fragrance of sandalwood, I wouldn’t argue you. This is very woody and strong. This smells nothing like the original

notnamai

to me, this is like a mix between the idole aura and the og. a deeper, spicier and darker twist to the regular idole.
personally, I prefer the og over this as this one has a bit of bitterness to it. to me this has a bit of an older vibe, it somewhat also reminds me of the spiciness of miracle (also by lancôme) which also feels older to me, maybe it’s that.
I love the elements of the original in this tho and the fact that it lasts longer and feels stronger, but if I had to pick between the 2 you already know my answer!

OzlemVrdr

If you have this, get zara golden decade and mix them. Then thank me ;)

AuthenticAF

I just got this, and i love it! Perfect for any occasion. Just beautiful!
I smelled the OG but ended up getting aura instead bc i really liked the salt note. I still love aura (it layers very nicely with other vanilla scents) but i really love this one.

Yea, i could see how this could smell like a fancy shampoo. But i still really like it🤷♀️ I guess im a simple person. I think i do enjoy soapy shampoo scents. Someone said below it smells like dove soap, yes, i think they are 100% on that, and i never realized until now how much i love the scent of dove!

Where this smells woody, aura smells more tangy and brighter. I like both for different reasons. This is a safe blind buy or valentine gift.
I dont think the performance is great, but i still really like it.

Update: i asked my son what he thought of this and without hesitation he said “yea smells like dove soap” i was astounded!

Bibi16

If you loved the OG, you will LOVE this, ITS GORGEOUS!!! The rose is definitely prominent in here but it’s very nice. I don’t like citrusy opening but this is absolutely gorgeous!!! Can’t stop sniffing myself and the scent bubble MMMMM love this!

lynnie131

This is beautiful! Can’t stop smelling it. Wasn’t crazy about the OG, but this is very long lasting. I don’t get the air freshener thing at all, it’s rosy and fresh, this will be my daytime, and at night to go out very good girl for extra rose and vanilla. They go well together!

BRoom212

While this is a nice perfume, it’s not quite my style and a bit different from what I expected. Not really getting that much “woody” as I get rose and soapy clean.

As MaxieF pointed in an older comment - this does smell like fancy shampoo! I swear I had a Kerastase shampoo some years back that smelled so very close to this ! This may be why I’m not a big fan of having this scent as a perfume.

Performance is great, does not project too heavily but lasts an entire day (8+ hrs). I think this is best suited for colder weather, can see this being too much for summer.

All in all a good value, good performance just missing that unique element that could make it one’s signature scent.

Mattesha Erotica

Everything that could be said has been said in these comments quite honestly!! Simply put: its a classy, rosey, woody fragrance with a familiar “pretty mom” vibe. That being said, theres sadly nothing at all special about this perfume. Its well blended and perfectly layered formula-wise, theres just dozens of frags similar in composition to this. Still, i find its very enjoyable to wear regardless of it’s repetitive fragrance DNA and lack of uniqueness. Reminds me GREATLY of Lancômes hypnôse senses without the sweet and luxurious honey at the forefront. The honey notes atleast make that perfume unique in some way. Id give this a fair 7/10.

latafan

Three disclaimers: I am generally not a huge fan of rose fragrances. I was not super vowed with but also not mad at the OG Idôle. This review is based on a small sample I got with another purchase and leans heavily on the comparison with the OG.

Idôle L'Intense starts of with a blast of light roses and some fresh natural smelling citrus (more the oils from the peel rather than the juice). The OG as far as I remember opened up with a brief glimpse of a pear note along with the roses, which was also nice, but did smell a bit more synthetic and generic - wasn't the pear just everywhere the last years? So, to me the choice for a more natural citrus dash albeit not exciting either still strikes me as a win. More natural, more classic.

It's the drydown, however, where I find those two fragrances most different. The OG on me dried down to a pleasing but borderline boring rosy musk. I wasn't mad at it. If there had been a bottle in front of me and no other option I would have used it, but within my collection I wouldn't have ever reached for the OG tbh. Idôle L'Intense on the other hand has really amped up the underlying jasmin big and it gives the entire fragrance a kind of luminosity I can really appreciate despite neither liking jasmin nor roses all that much in fragrances. It's fresh, bright, non-sweet and for a Lancome fragrance surprisingly natural smelling to me. There is still a little of the soapiness that also the OG had, but I feel it's more toned down now. More focus on fresh florals. It also has a nice sillage and a very decent longevity. I could easily still smell soft rose on me even the next morning.

I still don't see it as anything ground breaking. The notes are ultra classic, nothing really stands out as super creative or expressive, but it is very nicely blended and classy.

In my review of the OG I pictured the wearer of the OG as a mid 30s wifey-type character - let's call her Suzanne - who wears it for 'special days' like a baptism, a church picnic, a school summer festival. Idôle L'Intense is similar in its non-playfulness, non-sultriness, non-coziness, and non-expressiveness, but it does smell a lot more like a woman who means business and who knows what she's doing. It's Suzanne's sister Kate who has opted against the suburban church picnic lifestyle in favor of a well-paying job in the city, and who just needs a no-brainer classy fragrance to wear on the daily with her freshly pressed blouses for office as well as business lunches.

It's still not quite my cup of tea - it's just not my preferred genre of fragrance - but I do find this to be a lot more solid pic than the OG. Taking my personal preference aside, I'd give the OG a 6.5 out of 10, and for this version I'd give an 8. It could even be higher yet, if it just had a little something to set it creatively aside from other similar fragrances. There's nothing to fault in the all over quality.

Gyps

A really beautiful fragrance. Soft and rosy but not overdone at all. Well blended and no screechy citrus notes that I really dislike. They are more subdued, which suits my taste. I have a sample bottle of the OG but I found I couldn’t smell it so I went for this one. Could be a bit stronger, but that’s just me, I like them that way. Every now and then I get a waft of this gorgeous fragrance and it’s coming from me. Great blind buy - very happy with it.

ssamhita

I got Idôle L’Intense along with a few other Lancome samples (Idôle Aura and LVEB Flowers of Happiness) and while the other two didn’t impress me at first, I fell for L’Intense hook, line and sinker. If the OG Idôle is sparkly and bubbly, this one is deep and warm - thanks to the woodiness - and they are different enough for me to justify owning both. The rose in here is full bodied, with rich red velvet petals. The jasmine and citruses are simply whispers in the background while the rose takes centrestage.

For some reason that I can’t explain, it reminded me of weddings back home (home is Assam, India) where everyone drapes silk and there’s flowers everywhere and incense burning - although there’s zero incense in here. I think it is the cedar that reminds me of my favourite Narcisso Rodriguez EDT in the black cube. They are both woody roses but if the NR EDT is all crisp and modern, this one leans more traditional. It is elegant and classy. Very lush.

Interestingly, the moment my husband smelled this, he said “This reminds me of weddings”. Neither of us have been able to figure out what it is about this perfume that we both associate with weddings!

Shanipoo

It's the OG but woodsy and very grounding. The roses aren't as heavy as in the OG, but still prominent. Yes, this does smell like a classic 90s woody perfume, but that's probably why I love it so much! It smells like a timeless perfume. If you don't like chypre perfumes, you won't like this. It is meant to be a dry warmth that yes, can be found "dusty"

_jenevieve_

I tried a sample before buying. I liked it enough to purchase the small bottle. Daaaaang… I just can’t get over the L’intense detergent of it all. Downy unstoppables, indeed.

Edit 4/10/24: I’m back to loving it. After getting into my original sample, I repurchased and have no regrets. A true fruity-floral-woody-musk, wham-bam-thank you-ma’am!

iriskravitz

This is my current obsessions. It’s warm, woody, spicy and fruity, perfect for chilly weather. I bought this one after trying the OG one which I didn’t like much, but this one is literally perfect in my opinion.

Mirdi2022

I love this one so much, it’s fruity, flowery, sweet and dries down to a fruity vanilla. Makes me happy when I wear it and it lasts and projects so well! Wore this to work today and got more than five compliments from my coworkers! They all want to buy it now🤣 I’m in love, definitely 10/10 for me!!!!!

Update: could smell this in my hair after more than 30+ hours! That’s insane!

charleybea

I'll be short and sweet -- I blind bought this in the summer. Too strong, was a little disappointed to have it and thought about selling it. Fast forward into early fall I picked it up to smell it sprayed and sprayed and sprayed. It's one of my go to's currently. I get a very fresh, lovely patchouli woodiness with a touch of sweetness. It just smells luxe and fresh. I'm now a firm believer that season can definitely play a hand in the life of fragrance.

Glad I gave it another try.

cookygirl

Just lovely, as I had suspected when I sniffed it from the bottle a few weeks ago.
Today I tried it on my skin and it's so nice. Rosy, yes, but with all kinds of other aspects - especially citrus and woods that round it out and provide interest. This has much more personality than the OG.
I do smell the patchouli and the vanilla - both generally problematic notes for me - but they're very well blended so as to be unobtrusive and inoffensive.
Also, thankfully, no nose-stinging overtly synthetic notes.
This is an Idole that I can get behind.

ETA: Tried this a second time - this time two full sprays to the chest - and let me tell you, this is beast mode. I still smelled it on my skin the next morning, after I had showered the night before. Anyway, this is a fragrance that I will have to admire from a distance. It's just too strong for me and the patchouli does come out after a few hours to bother me.

Joshhiggins32

This is really nice and surprising that I enjoy it. I’m not huge on rose scents, but this is done nicely. I tried every one of the flankers and OG and this is by far the best imo. This and the nectar are similar in ways but this is somewhat easier to smell if that makes sense. It starts off very citrusy and then becomes a sweet easy going light floral sort of sour scent(not in a bad way). It has the traditional Lancôme scent quality to it and you can smell that in it. This would be an easy every day type of scent. It can be bold but it’s more of an easy throw on. Definitely compliments and performance is great! Definitely worth it to at least give it a sniff when you walk by.

Bachi

Tried this fragrance today. Loved the idea of the notes as presented at the Lancôme counter. Sprayed it on, waited- top accords came in like bathroom air freshener. 20 min later I got this sweet aroma, almost like burnt sugar. That lasted a couple of hours. Then the dry down. Soap. Old-fashioned, generic, almost headache inducing soap. Then that old house, needs airing out scent. Huge disappointment.

isakaz

I haven't smelled the OG but this is a very beautiful, clean, juicy, sweet scent.
It strongly reminded me of some type of thick fabric softener when I first spray it, then funny enough I was watching a YT review where someone compared it the downy unstoppable laundry scent beads and I couldn't agree more.
That's really what it smells like to me.

swimmingrose55

My mom wears this. I think it is simply stunning on her, and she leaves such a delicious scent trail...to me it smells like delicious exotic sweets.
Funny story...my mom was on vacation in Sri Lanka recently, and the Australian national cricket team were also staying in the same hotel. She is not too familiar with the members, so she doesn't know who is who, but she said quite a few members of the team commented on just how great she smelled on more than one occasion...mom said she was on cloud nine...lol

Lizabs68

Beautiful fragrance, great longevity and Sillage.

plamenapz

Exactly the same as Avon Passion Dance, which is actually better. My mom used to have it, as well as a red Rexona spray before that, again absolutely the same. Reminds me of my mom back in 90's. Nostalgic but beautiful and gentle, classy. It's OK for blind buy. Long lasting on my skin.

fonty_o

This starts off smelling like musk stick lollies, then dries down to become a quite dated smelling rose.
I even get a hint of mothballs in this, only when it's fully dried down. I am not sure why I get that mothball smell, it also happens with Dolce Garden.
This perfume is rose, rose rose, so only buy this if you love rose in all of its forms!

Eveningrose

This scent smells just like dove soap. Fresh and clean ! If you into soapy scents , you will like this. This scent isn’t ground breaking or super unique. It is an easy everyday scent that is not offensive! Smells like that fresh out the shower feeling !

AmakeNyasha

Idole Intense smells like money like new notes .When i am wearing this i feel rich ,i feel important. It smells fresh and sophisticated.I love this so much i really do it my go to go Fragnance when i want a confidence boost.
My comment getter
My beast mode Fragnance
My highest sillage kinda of Fragnance and also longevity is forever on 🧣 scatfs or clothes.
I have found a scent that truely define me.
I am buying more and more incase it will be formulated because i love this

LizDee007

OMG..this is so pretty and feminine and floral! So perfect for spring and summer days and nights..or whenever you want a comfy floral mood lifter! I did test the original Idole, but my purchase of the l’intense was a blind one and I’m satisfied with my choice. The performance is brilliant. I got the 25ml and will be purchasing the 100ml quick fast.

albarine

..

Esito

I don't get any citruses out of this. I smell a floral, rosy scent, which is feminine but leans more towards granny scent. I have a sample of this but I wouldn't buy a whole bottle because it's too basic. Just a nice, feminine scent, nothing more. It turns into a skin scent after the 6th hour of wearing.

ArtByLeia

I have a very cute 5ml bottle of this (don't know if that counts as "having it") and I really love it. It's very sexy, mature, and certainly woody. It projects wonderfully and from what I can tell so far, has great longevity. I might get a full bottle of this some time when I'm through the miniature one.

fformoso88

I like this one better than the original. I bought this one on sale and it’s really lovely! I didn’t like the original idole I found it too soapy and boring for me but this one smells completely different! Woody, sweet, vanilla, rose, with a hint of jasmine in the background. I think this fragrance is good year round. It wears well. It’s not my favorite fragrance but I do like it and appreciate it. It also kind of reminds me of roses musk by montale. Definitely a different smelling rose perfume than anything I have in my collection. The bottle is pretty I got 2 one oz sizes of this on sale I like the 1 oz because it actually stands on its own plus it’s good for traveling. Anyways out of all the idole’s I feel this one is the best one for sure!

Shmooksey

I’m not a fragrance connoisseur, nor am I a fan of the most popular perfumes. I tend to like very light, clean, simple fragrances- so bear that mind because if we are very different in taste then this review won’t help you.

I tested quite a few fragrances recently and this was the only one I chose to test in my skin, the others are all test strips. It was quite pleasant on paper, so I chose to try it, but it seems my skin does not project sweetness at all.
On paper, this is a beautiful blend of wood and sweetness, with a bit of a musk in the background keeping it light.

However, on my skin it it just pure wood with a sweet, headache inducing background. The sweetness seems to be coming through in the dry down like a rose-syrup.

This is not my type of fragrance, but, if you want a musky sweet fragrance with some warm woods then I recommend giving it a go. It’s truly a wonderful smell but just not for me

Tinabill

Clean woodsy rose.
Idole l’intense is still a fresh rose like the EDP, though it is more woodsy, and a tad sweeter than its predecessor. The jasmine is also more obvious to me here.
I guess I didn’t need both as they both serve the same purpose; a versatile crisp rose fume, but I prefer l’intense a bit more.

yana.levus

I bought Idôle L'Intense a couple of months ago. To say I was underwhelmed on the first spray is to say nothing. I tested it out for a bit, and at that time I thought ‘oh well, it’s a blind-buy fail’. I neither liked it or disliked it - to me feeling neutral towards perfume is even worse than rambling how offensive it is to your nose.

Good thing I didn’t declutter it. Perhaps winter isn’t the time for Idôle L'Intense cause right now, in May, I do love it! I’ve been reaching for it since it started getting warmer around here, and the perfume smells divine.

Idôle L'Intense indeed has that luxurious shampoo / bath product kind of vibe without being too soapy. It’s deep, elegant and feminine. Lately it has been my favourite grab-and-go! Such a glamorous rose, jasmine and wood combination with, of course, an incredible performance. The woody notes work especially nicely with my skin chemistry. The dry down gets surprisingly sweet with a slight hint of makeup smell.

I love how versatile this perfume is - fits simple white t-shirt and jeans as well as dressed-up outfit. Idôle L'Intense is a no-brainer when you want to get a modern glam-classic scent.

P.S. Try it out on a warm windy day to enjoy it to the fullest!

zeelenas

Love the initial blast! Tested in store and sprayed it on my skin to wear throughout the day. Showed my fiancé and he commented, “smells like a fancy bathroom” 🤣 The mixture of notes are well blended and does indeed smell soapy on me. It’s nice but not my type of fragrance. Longevity was great though!

AnlisaC

I never understand all the negativity on these reviews!!! I know each scent smells different on everyone and everyone has an opinion, but geeeeezzz!!!! Harsh lol!

Ok I’ve always loved Lancome scents, my first was Tresor and my mom (God rest her soul) adored that one. I’ve had them all at one point or another. I have to say Idole Intense is one of the best rose/Jasmine scent I own. It is very floral on me. Mind you I own a lot of rose scents, Delina and Delina Exclusif and a lot of Dior Miss Diors, Stella McCartney also! In the drydown I get a clean soapy scent. Longevity is very good and sillage is the same. I just pulled the trigger on Aura which I smelled yesterday in Macys also very nice but a lot lighter. Intense is beautiful and this is truly Intense and I will keep this in my collection! Recommended 10/10

piahellgren

I love the original, I really do, but when I had to re-buy I put the trigger on this Intense version. It’s just absolutely gorgeous, verging on a perfect fit for me. I always, always look for modern chypre style perfumes. Even though I loved my 80ies chypres I don’t feel them anymore and they are too animalic, I don’t crave them. Yet I was never into the excessively patchouli laden ”new chypre”. But this! It reminds me a bit of Mancera Roses Jasmin which I absolutely adore. It also has a quiet kinship to Andy Tauer’s Une Rose Chypree and to discontinued Chloe Intense. Like Roses Jasmin it has, obviously, roses and jasmin. They both are traditionally ”perfumey” meaning they last a long time, they engulf the wearer. But Idôle L'Intense is also a bit dainty, a bit fruity-floral sweet, but with all the woods and high quality ingredients this one is a true stunner. The woods are perfectly blended, the floral notes are gorgeous and the mandarin and bitter orange - a bit vetiver like- in the opening are mouth watering. 5 stars.

loveleen

Straight up shampoo and gummy bears is what I get. I love this perfume. It's very clean, yet sweet smelling. Reminds me a tad of Dove shampoo. Smells like clean, fresh, sexy skin.

taryn renee

This is a transparent older rose on a woody stem. The fruits peek out and impart a sweetness and gentle cheerfulness. If the jasmine is there, I am too distracted by the rose to notice it, on this my second wear.

I am not a fan of transparent florals. To me they tend to read as thin and hollow and missing a whole lot of something. This transparency reminds me more of the colossal rose vines that grew over a wood deck in my childhood home. Sitting on the deck, you could smell the wood of the deck heated by Texas sun and the roses carried on the wind. The transparency is not thin, but just environmental, atmospheric. It's quite nice.

I am also not really a fan of roses. I like roses, but I feel weird in roses. They don't seem to be very me. I wouldn't mind wearing more rose fragrances, if i just didn't feel so awkward in them. Again, the transparency of this rose gives me a lot of room. I am not necessarily INSIDE the fragrance... instead it hovers near, imparting it's loveliness.

I really really like this, but don't love it. I am currently looking for something that can withstand Texas summers. This probably isn't it.

**EDIT** 4/25/22 After wearing other florals for a few days, I came back to this. I absolutely can smell the jasmine now. It is like a jasmine-ish juice singing some gospel back up to the rose. I can't believe it eluded me the first few wears. This has moved from a like to a love.

So BEAUTIFULL. Roses with hapiness

Mariamaija Amélie

It's all about the subjective experience when it comes to our senses, and Lancome Idôle L'Intense is without a doubt one of the most beautiful perfumes in my big collection. The roses and the jasmins in this one are strong and intoxicating, but the juicy and zesty orange notes make the scent just a little sparkly as well. The musk, the woody notes, the vanilla, cashmere woods, acácia and patchouli make it sexy and sensual as hell to me. What an amazing creation. A confident womans fragrance for sure - or if not confident to begin with, Idôle L'Intense surely can help you become more confident. I praise this one to the sky and beyond because, in my opinion, it deserves it. I am considering decluttering some other rose perfumes from my collection because this IS the Rose & Jasmine Queen in my opinion. Nothing else I have comes close to this.

Kuty22

Ah I forgot I owned this.
It wasn't a blind buy, I test it first
It's absolutely wonderful
I know it's strange to use this word to describe a fragance, but damn she's - Beautiful

RSE

smells like synthetic sprinkles you put on cake

helegg

I liked this one more than the original Idole, which has a more fresh real roses/pollen in your face kind of smell. In comparison, the Intense version is warmer, deeper, and maybe a tad sweeter. It feels more balanced, like it's inspired by roses rather than 100% rose concentrate. It's sophisticated and elegant but a bit generic and I'm not addicted to it. It's very long-lasting and crowd-pleasing so I've designated this as my special occasions perfume, for when I want other people to notice I smell good. I can definitely still smell this perfume on me after at least 8 hours, so I'm very satisfied with it.

Moonshine_Strawberries

Can anyone explain this? I sprayed a tiny spritz on my forearm to test it out. Where my shirt picked it up from my arm smells like a completely different perfume than what I smell on my skin. I don’t like it on my shirt. It’s stale and citrusy at the same time. But when I roll up my sleeve and sniff my skin it’s divine, maybe even top favorites worthy. I smell mostly warm, velvety base notes with just enough floral to make it beautiful and feminine. I noticed this only a few minutes after putting it on.

Remdav

Similar to the original. More fruitier and muskier. V long lasting and great silage.
Personally prefer the original, however prefer the intense over Aura

Personally not a night time scent for me, nice for work

mermaidylady

Ulta currently has this for I believe 40% off. I was tempted to blind buy the smallest bottle (0.8oz for $35) but decided to head to the store and test it out first.

To me it smells very similar to the original Idole, much more so than the Aura flanker does. Like Idole, it's heavy on the rose and musk, but this version swaps out the pear of the original for orange top notes, which I do prefer. It also really dials up the jasmine. This is basically just a deeper, warmed up version of the original. I think I do like it better, but not enough to purchase a full bottle, even at the great discount.

Aura is my favorite of the line so far. If that were the one on sale, I'd have snatched it up by now.

Edit 12/24/21: Holy beast mode longevity! I sprayed this for test yesterday in the early afternoon, and here I am the next morning and can STILL smell it on my skin. As far as performance goes, this one earns its Intense name. Enormous sillage and incredible longevity. Gotta love that Lancome quality.

I wanted the OG for the longest but I got this back in April, bec I really liked it more and it seemed to last longer which is always my main concern. It was heaven. I wore it constantly. The bottle is very accessible and can be carried around in all my small bags unlike my bulky other perfumes. I was so happy with it and it was all I wore till mid summer. However, all of a sudden I got the worst migraine and I was wearing it. Since then, each time I even sniff it I get the worst headaches ever that make me even puke. I don’t what changed in me bec I used to wear it constantly and thought it was a pretty scent, now my body can’t stand it even if I forced myself to. It has great lasting power and sillage tho.

madamefelissa

At first I thought I'd walked into a wall of fragrance after opening the door to a five star hotel room where the housekeeping staff had given it a heavy spray to wipe out the ugly smells some smoker had left behind. Expensive but overwhelmingly citrus and rose. But wait! They've left a window open, and as the cross-breeze from the window to the open door moves the sheers lazily, the intense citrus cools down and just becomes fresh, and a gin gimlet sounds good. Then you get some fragrance from the flower market and the bakery, the vanilla bakery smell being very distant. There a cool green smell and a rich woody smell - where's that coming from? Garlands of cedar and freshly chopped woods, chips, and resin starter wood to get that fireplace going. But you're glad to keep the wood cool for now.

I liked this perfume, but I may grow to love it. We shall see. I'm glad I bought it. Got a good deal at Ulta.

Donzi

For me, the screechy rose takes over everything. It's completely linear. I don't hate it, but I will not be repurchasing it.

mariaakanbi

This perfume is my travelling companion.
Meaning, if I have a busy day jumping on the underground and a million trains, this keeps me feeling sedated and in my own world.

Funny story, I actually chased a woman in the supermarket just to find out what she was wearing. When she said it was Idole (the most recent one) I was surprised but also I made her day, so that was cute.

I DO like this scent but I also like layering it. On its own it can be very woodland nymph meets Echo (the greek mythical creature), so yes it can be cloying but almost too playful at the same time.

That said, I always turn the heads of men (which are not my only thing) when I wear it. They never say anything but I can always see what they smell in their eyes.

Chellywellie

I have a love/like-but-sometimes-it’s-too-much-for-me relationship with this one. I can’t wear this if I’m doing anything that could be classed as remotely energetic - cleaning, walking, doing my hair etc. If I have to keep smelling it, then I’ve had enough of it very quickly. But if I’m chilling, or just out for a drink, this is great. You do have to be in the mood for it because it’s so strong, but on the right day, it’s lovely.
It’s a sweeter, stronger version of the original. The original was too demure, floral & rosy for me, and I’m not the best fan of rose but this version does it well. The bottle is lovely too.
If the original is too floral and this one is too strong for you, try Dior Rose n Roses. That ones slightly fresher and lighter than this one while keeping the sweetness and a non-sickening rose note, which smells younger rather than aging.

_D.a.p.h.n.e_

It reminds me of something but i can't put my finger on it and it's driving me crazy! I get Giorgio Armani Si vibes with -maybe- a tiny bit of la nuit tresor? I'm not sure but i like it. It has "sweet mom who dresses
pretty" vibes 🥰

Hum_C

This is a more cozy version of the original Idole. The rose notes are stronger on this one and the sandalwood, cashmere wood, musk and vanilla makes it a more comforting scent suitable for fall and winter.

As with most other Lancôme perfumes, the longevity is great too for this perfume. I recently wore this fragrance on a short trip to France and I found my clothes and scarf still strongly smelling of this lovely fragrance the next day.

I also find the bottle design cool and very convenient to carry around in a purse.

lovelael

It smells like a cool aunt that dresses nicely, let’s you get a sip of alcohol, gives you money whenever you two meet, that throws parties, and aged like wine. That’s all I really have to say.

Nicole79

Hmmm..reminded me JLo Glow....very soapy and detergent like...and a bit NR Pure Musk .Chloe Style... Very strong.sillage, .lasted for days on the strip tester! It's a clean soapy fragrance. Nice I guess.

ditava

Love this perfume, it's my current favourite. It's such a happy positive smell that reminds me of Freya from Oriflame a bit (discontinued) but used to be my favourite in my teens.

BoutiqueLove

Initially I thought this smelled like a classy fruity transparent fragrance with a shot of 80’s retro oakmoss (pear leaning) making it feel grown up, expensive and put together …and almost Chanel esquel...like the rich aunt giving a fabulous party. I also preferred this (initially!) over Cartier panthere which has a similar vibe but less sweet and more bitter.
Now to me this smells cheap almost like a well performing body spray. It smells very familiar and I dare say was a body or room spray 25 years ago from the ‘fragrance archives’. I hate the original idole and thought this was different but the cheapness and low generic quality shines through.
I have many perfumes and have come to realise better to save money and buy a few very good quality ones!

Atomikbomb_

This opens and remains an amplified cocktail pear and canned mandarin orange fragrance for 2 or more hours. It's identifiable as Idole, but it isn't nearly as balanced. I had hoped this would have a little more musky rose, and less fruit if anything than the original (which is an "ok" fragrance to me, not a great one). Instead, this went the way of boosting the sweetness. I'm not sure why pear isn't listed, I still smell it like I did in the original.

If you like super juicy and sweet pear and orange, this might be for you! The past 2 fragrances I've disliked have been on the basis of having too much fruit...maybe it's just not a category I love (unless it's deep fruits like plum or fig). I do like fruits, but I call stuff like this "uber fruit", and it's not floral or balanced enough for me to want to wear again.

In fact, it smells nearly like soda without anything carbonated or "lifted".

tezuka_yuri

I'm so in love with this scent, smelling so fresh and fruity for me!

Clem1982

The pear note from the original has been replaced with orange, which I prefer. This fades after about 30 minutes and the perfume becomes a bit odd for a while, like there’re too many notes in there. After about an hour it settles into a lovely sweet floral woody scent. The rose isn’t as clear as in the original, which is a shame.

failedutopia

I prefer this to the original by far. Warm floral, woody, a lot of depth. The rose note takes on a sexy vibe when paired with musk and vanilla. The scent evolves, occasionally rearing up a familiar but intangible soapy clean note. On me this melts into the skin, wild and animalistic, pure feminine appeal. I enjoy stronger perfumes with some silage, this fits the bill. The Artemis style ad campaign was gorgeous and totally suckered me in, but I'm glad for it. I would NOT describe this as a 'love/hate' perfume so I consider it a safe buy.
There was a Bath & Body Works aromatherapy scent a million years ago called 'Sensual Jasmine Vanilla,' for lovers of that one, this is for you.

pac1990

Am I the only one that thinks this smells IDENTICAL to Pantene??

kobylnice

I really like the original Idole so I was looking forward to try L'Intense version. The opening is very bubblegum sweet with musky wood accords, much more heavier and deeper scent than the original. I could also smell a wee hint of the orange top note - which faded away within minutes. The top notes weren't blended very well, over crushing each other and also smelled a bit soapy. Same for the mid part, to me it was just a mix with bits of everything and confusing. It had the same lovely rose/jamine notes identical to Idole but not as pronounced. Up until this point I much preferred the original version. To my surprise it settled into beautiful warm vanilla woody scent, still carrying a hint of the bubblegum sweetness. I really liked that, it was so cosy! However, it stayed on clothes till the next day and turned into a scent reminding me of a perfume old grannies used to wear back in 90s. So this one is a pass for me.

Lizabs68

Lovely scent and long lasting, I love it.

giri-boni

A powdery, dusty, ancient rose... It does smell vintage, I don't know why. And a bit sad, too.

SSAP

I am enjoying this bottle. I prefer it to the original. It gives me a fresh jasmine blast that turns into a deeper jasmine on my skin. I prefer to wear this on a lighter day where I just need a quick little pick me up with some light sensual flowers. I also wear it before I go to the gym. Am I the only one that feels like this is very similar to Alien Flora? It seems to be the case for me on my skin.

annasarahr121

Lancome Idole Intense opens with a blast of roses -- sweet, sugared roses -- and what smells like peony to me (but it must be jasmine, not peony at all, judging by the notes), giving it a watery freshness. It's really pretty! Unfortunately, these top notes dissipate VERY quickly, at which point it starts to smell a lot like Mariah Carey M. I actually think M (which has a lovely light incense note) is a more interesting scent than Idole Intense, but Idole Intense does boast slightly better longevity, probably because of superior materials. Nonetheless, Idole Intese still turns into a skin scent on me after only about 3-4 hours; I'd just as soon spray and re-spray M (for $12 a bottle) versus shelling out $95 for Idole Intense on a discount fragrance site. While nice, in my opinion, Idole Intense is not worth the money.

Cathped

Strong soapy smell. Fresh. Didnt care much for the origial, but this is way better

Bouquet Bleu

I like it, a rosey fruitchouli, slightly woody. Sweet and happy, I didnt find it mature. Could be something of Miss Dior lines. However I am not familiar with the original idole to compare it. I would keep ot if I get it as a present but not sure if would buy it. Day ans night friendly, as most fruitchoulis it is fine for almost all year round excepting big heat .

Sherine777

I dismissed Idôle ever since it came out because of the 'generic' word being all over the place.
Well.. Rose and Jasmine do seem like they were done to death :D
But.. Today I got to try both versions and this is anything but generic to me. It doesn't remind me of any of my 300 perfumes or the 10 times more other perfumes I tested.

This is a Beautiful Cheerful Floral with a background of fruit. Fits any age group in my opinion. It's not light or fleeting or childish, it's just happy!
Lancome's excellent quality is there, I can't fully attest on the longevity but it has a rich oily texture, usually this means it will last a while.

Both versions are Rose and Jasmine, with a back drop of fruit that I cannot fully discern without the notes but it is fresh and just right sweet and a touch of Musk that gives off a slight soapiness, but the difference is:

Idôle, to my nose is more of a Rose - Lancome's Icon and they do it better than most in my opinion, but it's nothing like Nina, Narciso or Tresor In Love.

Idôle L'Intense, to my nose has Jasmine Sambac in the front, the variety that grows in small bushes and looks like a mini lollipop, I adore it and first time to come across it, so obvious, in a perfume. Patchouli, Vanilla, Woods are way in the back.
For that reason, I prefer L'Intense but I would totally recommend trying both, as they are both good quality, well done perfumes that are not 'generic' to me.

Nurses04.

Wow - I completely understand what people are saying when they say this fragrance is familiar! It does remind me of a fragrance from the 90’s - which is no bad thing! It does vaguely smell like many other scents on the market today. (It does not smell like any of the below but it’s just an idea of what it reminds me of): it has the tartness in the opening similar to that of PDM Delina or Elle saab, Royal, the classical floral notes of EL pleasures or Gabriel from Chanel, the fruitiness of the original GIorgio Armani Si or Lancôme’s tresor la nuit (although no where near as sweet). It’s leans heavily floral, it’s got a sharp quality to it and I can pick out the jasmine quite strongly too. It could be cloying if over-sprayed but otherwise wears fairly inoffensive. Does what a perfume is meant to do, smells good (although probably more on the mature side and quite classic in its vibe) projects well and has good longevity.

Tolkashutka

I picked up an 0.8 oz bottle on a whim when it was on a “Surprise Steal” during the most recent 21 Days of Beauty at Ulta. I really enjoy the original Idôle, despite how much it gets knocked for being “generic”, and was hoping for a similar scent profile with better longevity.

Upon initial spritz, I didn’t like this quite as much as the original Idôle--to my nose, there’s a lot less emphasis on the rose/musk combo, and more heavy towards the vanilla/patchouli/wood accord. The vanilla is a bit too sweet for me, and there’s not enough rose/woods to nicely balance it out for my personal preference.

At first, I didn't think it merited/warranted the “Intense” label, because I wasn’t overwhelmed when I first smelled it on myself. That being said, I was told by two students when I wore it yesterday that “[I] smell really good”, and that apparently they want to walk behind me from now on (they were about 4-5 feet away, with masks on) because I leave a “beautiful trail of smell”, like “a skunk, but in a good way”. So I guess you could say sillage is pretty darn decent?

It was worth a shot at the reduced price that I picked it up at, but in hindsight, I wish I would have picked up (more) of the original Idôle instead.

Scandipersian

What an irony, shouldn’t Julia Roberts have been face of this ladylike, sophisticated upscale fragrance and Zendaya of the youthful tooth-achingly sweet thing that is La Vie est Belle?!

Soapy, bergamot or citrusy with slightly powdery (but not dusty) rose on top. Like that it is cold kind of rosy and not warm, as colder sweetness suit my skin much better. Also like the acacia accord that renders a nostalgic sophistication to this.

Hd_Diana

Today I decided to sample Idole Intense; first thing: different compared to the original Idole in my opinion. The opening reminded me of Chanel scent, after wearing for a few hours this smells like a Chanel-esque Narciso Rodriquez for her, now I don’t like Narciso Rodriguez but I kind of like this one...I even smell some Gucci Guilty Abs pour femme, I see nobody mentioned it, maybe my nose is playing tricks on me...I have to sample more.

lauraana.jurman

I love the opening, almost bought it, but the drydown reminds me of Angel, perhaps not wih all the notes, but by the way it makes me sick when I smell Angel on someone else.

dayana_didi

Roses , roses , roses .... That's what it smells like . Very feminine scent
Long lasting . The sillage is strong

Manya3

Hello '90s! This is soooo familiar, I just can't put my finger on what it reminds me of...
It is a big bouquet of roses that someone put in a vase filled with coca cola! Sweet and slightly bitter and prickly. I have never liked chypres but I am in love and it's a love you can't explain. Pricey for a luxe frag, but it will smell better in winter anyway so I have time to put some money aside to get me the biggest bottle I'll be able to get my hands on🤩
Edit: argh it smells so familiar it's driving me crazy! Maybe a bit like Yvresse by YSL? Anyone else has any ideas?

JenLauren

I wasn't a huge fan of the original Idole, but really like the Intense version! I am 38F and something in this gives me the vibes of perfume from the late 80's when perfume was NOT sickly sweet and fruity. Anyhow, this is floral and could be a signature or year-round fragrance for someone who doesn't have dozens of fragrances, ha. It's not a bright, pretty floral, but a heavier, loud, sexy floral if you that makes sense. It has great sillage and longevity - you won't over-spray more than once! Lancome was my first high-end brand I started using in high school and went on to work for them in my 20s. I haven't cared for a fragrance they've released in 20 years or more (aside from the Maison Lancome line) so it is fun to have one in the rotation again. Check it out even if you did not care for the original Idole. (Oh, and the bottle is so cool:)

fleursdumal

Idole Intense is a clean, bright feminine floral with a very modern rosey-jasmin-musky main accord well rounded out and warmed by vanillic cashmere woods. Patchouli is not detectable per se but appears to have been added to give a little 'weight' to and round out the overall feel of woodsy warmth. A fragrance of floral intensity that is not overly sweet thanks to the woodsy base which includes the more traditional and delicate mimosa flower (acacia) which complements the main accord giving it a ladylike breezy but chic feel in the spirit of Narciso Rodriguez or Coco Mademoiselle EDT. The freshness has an almost petal / powdery / soapy nuance but projects at the same time a sort of 'spritzy' brightness reminiscent of a 'cotton-like' deodorant or rich body cream. This crisp but warm accord makes all the difference. The final impression is feminine, romantic, clean, modern, fresh; superior to the original in its overall demeanor being less sharp and brash, much softer, sensual, wearable and versatile enough to wear all year round. Good performance and projection also recommend it. It deserves a better bottle/presentation.

Niera

It’s an amazing smell . Has the right balance of fresh citruses floral and sweatiness..
It’s different and definitely a unique one .. but it resembles a lot the original version.. if you have the original don’t buy this one they are very similar except the longevity this one has higher longevity..
I smelled almost all the notes except for the patchouli it’s almost unnoticeable

pinkalpaca

These popular designer brands should probably stop making the same perfume all over again at this point. This smells just like miss dior absolutely blooming, which in turn smells just like the nuit tresor flankers. The same kind of sweet but dark, sexy nighttime scent. It’s pleasant but it’s pretty much identical to the ones I mentioned.

supergirl9412

I'm so silly. Bought this when it was on sale, confusing it for YSL Libre Intense. At first, I thought it was the same and was quite in love. Soft rosyness with a warm, vanilla undertone. But after about 30 minutes, it turned into a full-on loud, screetchy, rosy floral and all of the yummy, warm vanilla disappeared. My husband said it smelled like a grandma. Have to agree. It was a scrubber, and I'll be returning.

Enrium

[25] This scent has a rosy, fruity opening, with sweet orange notes and a hint of peach. There is also an initial blast of patchouli which doesn't last. The rose becomes more prominent as the scent settles, and jasmine is also evident. Vanilla appears, but does not overwhelm the fragrance (something that seems to be common in many sweet scents). After an hour or so, a hint of musk creeps in. There is a slight woodiness to the drydown, but there without any depth or richness.

Sillage and longevity are both moderate, lasting 2-3 hours before becoming a skin scent and projecting enough to warrant comment.

Light, inoffensive spring fragrance, fresh and feminine. A sweet floral fruity with commercial appeal. Not bad, but not to my taste and nothing special. Forgettable. 2/5.

Nightgarden

Love the opening, but soon enough it turns into a "Wish" (Chopard) clone on my skin. I gave it to a friend, it smells gorgeous on her.
Also love the slim bottle.

gourmandnotes

A bright, champagne pop of fresh and revitalizing pink roses followed by an indolic jasmine. For a moment, I felt as if I smelled this middle portion before, it was vaguely reminiscent but of what? Then someone in this thread mentioned J'Adore by Dior - BINGO! This jasmine concoction is the same jasmine found in Dior's J'Adore. Both are incredibly similar to each other except for the initial opening. J'Adore, the original formulation, was a sumptuous, grand white floral with big bosoms. Idole Intense is a kind of an understudy to J'Adore. Very beautiful, and like J'Adore, can go from casual to a fits-for-all-occasion statement perfume.

soumayaela

To me it smells almost like the original Idôle but not as juicy and fresh
Very pleasant feminine scent, it smells clean and elegant, like a fresh bouquet of pink roses
Projects really nice and people around me like it a lot and compliment me every time i wear it
I've been asked by strangers what perfume i'm wearing, they could smell it even with mask on
I have a large collection of perfumes and i noticed people like simple floral or simple sweet perfumes not complicated or overwelming ones with weird composition

BilgeD

It is a nice floral perfume. Have a balanced rose smell, not very heavy but noticeable and there is a pleasent vanille smell. Overall, I think, it is a nice feminine perfume.

loislane007

To me it does not smell like the original and is very similar to Amanu Si Passione. I am not a huge fan of the Si range but this is a less screechy, more refined and pleasant version. I really like this. For me it is a perfect Spring scent.

genny17

I wasn’t really crazy about the first one, it is a juicy nice scent, but wasn’t my cup of tea..Intense is a different fragrance, warmer, stronger, more grown up...it is a big scent but not overly floral..there is a chypre undertone, a warm mature rose, not overdone..and although it is warmer, I don’t find it sweet per se...this has a luxurious feel to it, it is a sophisticated scent, it projects royally, I think people will smell you coming around the corner..I think if you have the first one, you can also have this version, they aren’t alike..i think the first one was younger, more cute, this is more womanly, with a dose of sexy...my husband likes it...the vanilla keeps it from being too intensely floral..this will get you noticed definitely..will see how it performs in cold weather...I think this is more a fall or early spring perfume.

Jacklyn's Perfumery

The original was just ok but this intense version is so much better because it adds a heavier dose of rose and amped up the sweetness with the vanilla cashmeran base and a dash of citrus. Not that it smells creamier but just sweeter with a more realistic rose presence than before. I'd say forget the first one if you like it and get this one it's way better and more interesting.

JackieM

I found the original boring, weak, forgettable, and not enough of anything. And I have to confess I've reached my limit with trendy 20 year old actresses selling canned, wannabe mythical *confidence* (measured by number of social media followers, of course) to consumers that are most likely twice their age (despite consistent attempts to the contrary, I'm pretty sure Lancome's ability to draw in the Gen Z shopper was dealt the death blow long before Idole). Absolutely nothing was convincing me that Idole was what it so desperately wanted to be. So Idole was squarely in the "pass" column.

However I guess I'm more superficial than I'd like to think because the variance on the bottle of Intense interested me and made me wonder if there was an upgrade on the inside too... Well, yes and no.

It's stronger, and slightly edgier. However it relies almost entirely on patchouli, with some musk, for its forwardness and I wish I smelled some of the sweetness other are getting. It's almost dirty but don't get too excited, it won't recall the true retro dirty perfumes. It's weighty, but not complex enough. The rose is gone in 15 minutes. Si is better. Even Mon Paris is better.

CookieMonster007

This smells more mature than the original version. Less sweet. Less rosy. More musky. I prefer the latter.

Swann

I really love it! I sprayed the scent on my coat and it smells forever! An intense chypre rose will take you back to your memories, very nostalgic.... Masterpiece, 🌹

Natalia91

I received this gorgeous bottle 3 weeks ago. At first sniff I really didn't like the scent. I am more into gourmand perfumes.
Today I tried it again and I must admit I start loving it at a point I am obsessed!

Elle Ayah

This has much more personality than I expected:
Strong, woody patchouli that is not not dirty. The rose is not pink, soft, fresh, watery, or powdery. Rather, it's a wine colored rose that feels almost carnivorous. Vanilla is an integral part of this scent, but does not dominate. Not flirty, but sexy. It's more like Midnight Poison than it's like the any of LVEBs or BOs. Much stronger than Si but much less fruity.
Anyway, I sort of love it.

CarolineF93

I absolutely love this perfume, I didn´t think I would love it this much, I normally like to explore, but this one is an absolute staple for me. I have quite a few people around me, who didn´t like it on themselves and yet they compliment me, asking what my perfume is.
I did like the original Idole but it was more a cheaper perfume I´d grab in a drugstore when I fogot to bring ma normal one. Intense has much more luxurious feel, it is sweet and elegant.
It stays on forever, most of my coats smell like Idole and I´m not complainig.
It is definitely a winter/fall frangrance I don´t see myself wearing it during summer.

AlexandraTroush

Soapy and sweet, like a more refined Si. I'm having a wonderful time smelling this on myself from a sample right now, but I'm not sure I would go out and buy a full bottle just yet, as it's not exactly my kind of vibe.
I don't agree that it's similar to NR Fleur Musc and for Her EDP, as I have those other two and I enjoy them far less (their rose comes off a bit too sour for my liking).

Overall it's interesting and a bit different to the popular offerings nowadays. I'm intrigued, but just not enough to buy a bottle myself.

LisaMari

my first impression is that it’s like if you could make rose gold in to a perfume it has a metallic golden rosy quality to it. Then I thought it reminded me of j’adore - the same kind of jasmine which doesn’t really smell like jasmine to me at all.. more like a metallic tuberose. I’m just testing a sample in a magazine and they tend to smell quite different than testing from a proper spray bottle
Very different to the original- not sweet at all really just kind of harsh and in your face.. no musk the rose is really metallic hard and cold. The main note I feel like I’m getting is bergamot and a very cold musk and a facet of bitter cold rose don’t like that.. then it smells like baby wipes.. not an improvement.
The final drydown is a more agreeable dry fresh slightly zesty musk

lunarxphase

I do like this fragrance, although I will add that it turns extremely cloying on my skin.. far too sweet smelling. I got no freshness from this. I was enjoying it at first but it began to make me feel nauseous quite quickly. I haven’t tried the normal version of Idôle but I feel I’d prefer it to intense..

Lotta

Smells like soap from the 90s. Very nostalgic.

SailorV

This should have been the pillar fragrance instead of Idôle, and Idôle should have been the Florale or L'Eau version. L'Intense is a more vibrant fragrance, has more character and is a better fit for the "strong woman" marketing Lancôme did for Idôle.
There are some similarities between both, but L'Intense is not only stronger, but also more exciting.

The opening goes into the direction of modern chypres, it has nothing to do with classic/vintage chypres though. Not that I would have wanted that anyways, just wanted to mention it.
I smell roses and jasmine, clean patch and also some pear from the original. The texture is juicy and almost syrupy, but the sweetness is on a medium level and nicely contrasted by the sharp floral notes. There is an underlying vanilla warmth, but it never takes over the fragrance, not even far into the drydown. It makes the flowers smell a little honeyed.

Some other plus points: The fragrance does the "Intense" title justice and gives me beautiful wafts from just a test spray on my arm, and the slim rose gold/bronze bottle looks gorgeous.

I'm very positively surprised. Idôle was okay, but this is wonderful.

Advaitaforever

Absolutely awful. There is an aggressive rose similar to roses musk by Montale. There is a weird contradiction in this fragrance in that it’s fruity but it doesn’t have any freshness. It literally resembles vodka mixed with a cheap lime cordial. I don’t know why anyone would want to smell like this. An absolute liberty from a brand like Lancôme.

PerfumeForLainy

Clean musc, strong sweet rose, soft leather and it does pack a punch and take the room by force.
I quite like it though and certainly much more than the original, which I did not understand at all, the point of owning it.

Intense is the floral chypre done right.
I like how fresh it feels all the way an would have loved Chloe Nomade to learn from it for its next flanker.

The bottle is too thin and flat to stand on its own, but it shows the level of the juice dropping rapidly and it is strangely satisfying.

alit

The original Idole didn't impress me at all, actually I was quite annoyed how cliche and compote - like it is, especially after all the initial hype around it. Idole Intense on the other hand - love it! Yes, you can tell immediately they are of the same family, yet Intense is much more pleasing to my nose. It sweet, cute and uplifting, elegant and well mannered without being a bore like the original Idole. You get that very Lancome rose, it is clean and well blended. It shows up to work and does the job!

piahellgren

I much prefer the original which I think is way underrated. In a way that's good since not everyone around me will be wearing it... Anyway, imagined this to be more chypre-ish which I love, but to me this is mostly cashmere woods and vanilla and the juiciness of the original disappears very quickly. The lasting power is also not as good as the original's. It won't go on my wish list. Edit: Got it. Changed my mind. Fabulous perfume!

EsmeraldaParis

I did not buy perfums from Lancôme for years because they killed magie noire and trésor... did bot even smell thé 40 flankers of la vie est belle... and hated l idole because too easy and ressembling so many others.... i tried this one because i was waiting at the Lancôme counter for my foundation.... and i did not expect a such beautiful chypre!!!!!! My gosh is it beautiful, less honeyed that soir de lune... it has the paloma Picasso vibe and IT LAST which is really a10 for me...
On m’y skin it s 100% chypre with some rose but the Chypre note is great!! This last years i thought nobody would offre us à Chypre again but Lancôme did it and did it well!!!
Merci Lancôme si vous pouviez résuciter Magie Noire.....

Aquamarina29

Very grandmotherish, sharp and soapy. To me it kinda smells the same through out the day but the sharp smell was bothering me so much that I had to wash it off.

Sissib7

This is much better than its predecessor. Original Idole, to me, is bland. This is chic. And daring. A scent from the glamour of the seventies. Deep, Chypre.

CarolineF

Smells like perfume smelled on old people when you where a kid, something dusty about it, it doesen't smell fresch and new. Liek something you can find in an old box in the attic.

Amnaa

Very sharp. The original Idole was missing something. This one has too much of everything.

Naomie

This scent was far to fruity bubble gum for me. Did not like it at all, many says this one is more easy going then the previous edition but for me this is way worse then
The original and I find it hard to get even sniff it, very very very sweet, a bit all over the place for me, don’t see any harmony in the aroma concept, feels like Shyamala, Adriana and Nadege had a huge disagreement and they agreed to throw their random ideas together so they have a New scent for next day Board meeting.

auroramaria

Oh this one is gorgeous! If you never liked the original ypu might love this nrw version instead. The rose and the clean accord nave been umped up and it is sweeter and more musky. It is stronger than the original but not schreetchy, it is soft and velvety and very feminine and sensual. The overall drydown is heavenly sweet and a bit powdery.A beautiful fragrance.

Irisfvh

I havent tried the original one yet. I do like this. But im not sure if i love it enough to buy it.

I dont think its intense at all. I smell beautiful roses, jasmin, pachouli and a little vanille. After a few hours the roses dissapear and the vanilla stays.

Nothing too special but not bad either!

sommersne

Tried this two days in a row.
The beginning is very floral and a bit Old School. The smell reminded me a bit of my grand mother (who wears 90s perfumes) and a bit of that classic scent there is in most Chanel releases - even the newer ones. That Old school scent never dissapeared but it quickly faded in the background. After 15 minutes the scent turned really clean and a bit more modern. I got a lot of compliments from people around me during the day and as the scent developed I liked it more and more.
I can still smell it on my wrist 24 hours later

andrewatic

This one is really good, surprisingly, because the original was nothing to brag about.
So, why not immediately this way, Lancôme??? Rhetorical question I suppose...

aptranou

A very nice surprise, since I never liked the original. Idole L'Intense started as a powerful, somewhat old fashioned sweet woody- floral on my skin, with great sillage. Two hours later a glorious patchouli emerged, masterfully paired with vanilla and woods. This beautiful drydown lasted for at least 8 hours. On my skin this turned out to be an even better version of Coco Madmoiselle Intense!

vlarya

I did not expect to like this, because the original Idôle was such a let down (did not hate it, just found it boring).

L'intense is 50%-50% clean and sweet.

Now, none of the above is particularly unique, but this perfect balance between the two is not something I've come across often.

I can make out the white florals and the rose, but they are sweet petals with their nectar included.

Vanilla, definitely.

And the laundry detergent smell makes it clean, but also cozy.

All the notes are such feel-good happy-makers.

A few hours in, I can smell the oranges, but they are definitely in the background.

This is such a dumb-reach, all occasion fragrance. It has more character than the original Idole.

Decent longevity and sillage - you can just spray more or less based on your mood, it will wear well.

Sandalwood, patchouli - can't make them out at all.

Justinaboo

This smells just like the original at first spray. Unlike the original which smells completely linear throughout (which is fine if that's what you like) this changes quickly into a thick peppery rose. The sillage is excellent - when I couldn't smell it myself my husband said he could smell wafts of it - it's rare that he can smell my scents, he always says I never put enough on (I do!). I also got complimented, if you'e interested in compliments. That could be because you can actually smell it.

It's a like rather than a love for me at the moment which is annoying as it's a big hit with those closest to me and could easily become my signature if I felt the same way.

LIR

I love the original Idôle and honestly didn't know how Lancôme could improve upon it. Plus I really don't get on with patchouli so ordered a tester of Idôle L'Intense to try prior to committing to a full bottle.

Well it opens with a blast of rose and orange. From that first waft of beauty, I am hooked. The bitter orange is an excellent foil to the mandarin stopping it becoming too sweet. It's a big, fragrant rose with a realistic orange juice vibe.

After about an hour it settles in to a delicious soapy floral sandalwood with a citrus tang. I don't get the patchouli at ALL, for which I am forever grateful. L'Intense has much more character than Idôle. I can see me wearing Idôle during the day and L'Intense at night.

Miss Moon Shine, oh true; I forgot about the pre-releases.

But something that I've noticed from being on Fragrantica is that sometimes there's a large number of love/like/dislike votes* when articles, about 'perfumes to be released', just start appearing and I was wondering if that was happening in this case.

I just find it very confusing when people talk about the perfume's lasting power, siliage, or age suitability and say things like they 'can't wait to smell it'* in the same comment.

Those comments were what I was alluding to and those comments seemed to have been downvoted as of now. My comment was posted very early on.

*So, as I was saying before, if situations like these could be prevented it would increase the reliability of the site...assuming that most people are using Fragrantica's polls as a basis for how the perfume 'actually smells' and not the hype around how the perfume 'would smell'.

Manele2806

I think it's gonna be a really nice and sophisticated perfume

youngheart

I wasn't a big fan of the original Idole - it was nice, but a bit too generic. In this context, I found the Intense to be a pleasant surprise, so much so that I am using it as my everyday scent for lockdown summer. It's simple enough to work for the current version of myself (working from home all the time, not dressing up, rarely wearing make up), but it's more interesting than the original. It's heavier and deeper, but I would still consider it a summer perfume. Very delicate and feminine and quite elegant in a non complicated way. I find it perfect for days when you want to keep it simple and not waste your expensive sophisticated perfumes.

amandakk

Have stores even stocked this perfume yet? Why are people 'loving' the perfuming if they have not smelled it yet...the site would be more reliable if that could be prevented :/

Just a tip if the higher-ups see this comment.

invaderlark

Oh look, it has more than 2 basenotes. I wonder if actual fixatives were used and it will last on the skin for more than 3 hours. We shall see
