Alaska Airlines is flying its largest summer schedule ever

Alaska Airlines announced:

In response to an increase in travel demand, Alaska Airlines is offering the largest summer schedule in the company’s history, including new nonstop routes and international destinations we’ve never served before during our busiest months of the year.

We’re also expanding the number of daily flights in our network for convenience, flying to popular destinations based on guest feedback, unveiling innovative bag drop stations in some of our hubs and continuing to operate an industry-leading safe operation.

During this year’s peak summer months (June, July and August), we’ve added almost one million seats versus last year; these added seats will help guests get to more barbeques, baseball games, and beaches than ever before. Our busiest days will be before and after Independence Day, where we expect to see almost 160,000 guest boardings each day.

Denise and Stephen Otico of @partyof4sometimes2, along with their kids, traveled to Anchorage from San Diego on our new, weekly nonstop route that started in May.

Guests are excited to travel away from home this year. This past Memorial Day weekend, we connected more than 500,000 guests to their destinations or 6% more people over the holiday weekend compared to last year.

Outside of our hub cities, which are seeing notable growth, our guests have been particularly interested in exploring new places: we’ve seen tremendous interest in Guatemala City, where travelers can marvel at the pyramids of Tikal National Park or explore the shores of Lake Atitlán. National Parks have been especially popular: to support this demand, we’ve added 16% more flights to Jackson Hole, Wyoming — the gateway to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone. We’ve also launched nonstop service from New York (JFK) and San Diegoto Anchorage, in our namesake state; these flights will help connect adventure seekers with the grandeur of the 49th state.

Here’s how we’re prepared for this summer’s busiest days:

More Flying & More Destinations

  • We’ve added nearly 10% more flights to our guests’ favorite destinations—from Alaska to Zihuantanejo, we’ve got your summer travel covered!
  • We’re expanding our reach to the east this summer with new nonstop routes connecting Anchorage and New York, Portland and Nashville, and San Diego with both Atlanta and Anchorage.
  • For the first time this summer, we’re flying guests to new international destinations: Guatemala City, The Bahamas, and Toronto.
  • Our summer schedules have grown at many of our hubs: with 16% more flights in Portland, 10% more in Seattle, 23% more in San Diego and 13% more in Anchorage.
  • Summer doesn’t have to stop! Starting this fall, we’re growing Los Angeles (LAX) departures 33%, giving guests even more opportunities to soak up the California sun.
  • We offer more flights to Mexico from the West Coast than any other U.S. airline, with service to Cancun, Guadalajara, Los Cabos, Loreto, Manzanillo, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo.

Enhanced Travel Experience

  • We’re moving to San Francisco International Airport Harvey Milk Terminal 1 later this month, culminating a major investment in modernizing our infrastructure and providing our guests with a seamless travel experience. When it opens in July, our newest Lounge at SFO T1 space will be 11,000 square feet with 55% more seating and offer the ultimate comfort with our signature Loungers for kicking back, an expanded menu made with fresh ingredients, a barista staffed coffee bar and complimentary West Coast wine, spirits and craft brews.
  • In Anchorage, we’re renovating and upgrading our popular Lounge with more space, seating and thoughtful touches.
  • At Portland International Airport, we’ll be moving into a brand new, bolder and brighter lobby in August.
  • At Los Angeles International Airport, a complete overhaul of the gates, including new carpet, lighting, seating with power outlets and signage will be complete by the end of July at Terminal 6 where Alaska is the primary airline.

Premium Products

  • We’re elevating our guests’ culinary experience in the sky with an expansion of our pre-order for-purchase hot meal options to Premium Class and the Main Cabin for flights 1,100 miles or more. Check out our premium onboard menu here.
  • We’re giving you the chance to upgrade – for free with our new program called upgrade unlocked! Every day this summer we’re surprising and delighting at least one guest seated in our Main Cabin to Premium Class as a “thank you” to our guests for flying us this summer. Learn more here.
  • Can’t wait to learn if you’ve been selected for upgrade unlocked? We’re making it easier for you to upgrade! Now you can pay to upgrade to First or Premium Class up to 30 minutes before departure under Manage Trip on www.alaskaair.com, or through the Alaska Airlines mobile app.

Reliable, Safe Operation

  • Most importantly, running a safe and reliable operation is our top priority. Halfway through the second quarter, we rank in the top of three of the industry for both completion rate and on-time performance. Our highly dedicated Maintenance and Engineering teams are focused on safety, reliability and excellence and utilize the latest aircraft maintenance technology to access information that keeps us flying.

United announces the launch of Kinective Media by United Airlines

United Airlines today announced the launch of Kinective Media by United Airlines – the first media network that uses insights from travel behaviors to connect customers to personalized, real-time advertising, content, experiences and offers from leading brands.

The new technology platform gives marketers the opportunity to scale their reach across a wide range of channels including United’s award-winning mobile app and inflight entertainment screens. And the airline expects its MileagePlus® members will receive additional value through more personalized and real-time offers and experiences that drive even greater loyalty.

Kinective Media is already working with brands such as Norwegian Cruise Line, Macy’s, Chase United Co-Brand Credit Cards, TelevisaUnivision, IHG Hotels & Resorts, as well as agency groups like Dentsu. The focus is on premium brand relationships across key verticals such as retail, luxury goods, financial services, automotive, media brands and travel.

Kinective Media plans a formal commercial launch at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

“We’ve built a first-of-its-kind, real-time, adtech-enabled traveler media network where brands have already started connecting to premium audiences at an unmatched scale,” said Richard Nunn, CEO of MileagePlus. “Unlike some commerce media platforms, United gives brands across a wide range of industries the ability to reach engaged customers throughout the entire marketing funnel – from brand consideration to conversion – in a way that’s highly personalized and relevant, and we’re already seeing impressive results. There has been a huge strategic shift within this high growth sector in the past five years where advertisers and brands have come together to determine how best to connect with consumers in a way that’s valuable, effective and personalized.”

Kinective Media aims to enhance the travel experience while growing the trust that travelers place in United. Advertisers cannot access the personally identifiable information of United customers – instead, Kinective Media leverages the insights of U.S. customers aged 18 and over to create aggregated and anonymized audience segments that it offers to Kinective Media advertisers. All U.S. customers have the option to opt-out of Kinective Media targeted advertising at any time.

United’s Mobile App and Inflight Entertainment Screens

Kinective Media partners can scale their content through two of United’s most impactful media channels, among others: its award-winning mobile app and the growing number of inflight entertainment screens across the airline’s fleet, which are among the most addressable media assets in the industry.

  • The United Mobile App – United has the world’s most downloaded airline mobile app, with 110+ million total downloads across IOS & Android and nearly 100 million sessions per month.

  • United continually seeks to add new, industry-first features to help travelers save time and make the travel experience even easier including the ability to automatically switch from a middle seat to a window or aisle if it becomes available by choosing a seat preference in the seat map, and live personalized flight notifications with Live Activities for iPhone.

  • Seatback Entertainment – United has nearly 100,000 seatback screens across its fleet, with plans to grow these numbers as the airline takes delivery of new airplanes and retrofits existing aircraft as part of its United Next plan.

There is the potential for 3.5 hours of attention per traveler, based on average flight time. United’s seatback screen content – which is also available on customer’s personal devices –includes free access to more than 2,800 movies and shows, as well as a new 3D moving map, personalized connecting gate information and digitized food and drink menus. The inflight content is available in more than 20 different languages.

The new United signature interiors include 16-inch HD touch screens in each United Polaris® business class seat, 13-inch screens in every first class seat and 10-inch screens in every United Economy seat.

Air France presents an innovative and exclusive airport experience tailored for La Première passengers transiting through Paris-Charles de Gaulle

Air France remains committed to elevating La Première, its most prestigious class of service. As the airline prepares to introduce its new La Première cabin this winter, it is set to inaugurate an exclusive passenger airport experience this summer, featuring a dedicated check-in lobby and spacious suites. The aim is to offer an even more seamless and completely private journey through Paris-Charles de Gaulle starting in July, perfectly timed with the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, where Air France proudly serves as an official partner.

A new dedicated check-in lobby

Upon arrival at the airport, every La Première guest is warmly welcomed by a dedicated concierge who promptly attends to their luggage. Starting this summer, guests will then be guided to a newly established exclusive check-in lobby, marking the initial step in their personalized journey through the airport. Here, an attentive Air France team will manage all departure-related procedures, encompassing check-in and luggage assistance. This area, furnished with 15 seats and two private lounges, ensures enhanced privacy for guests*. The check-in lobby will also cater to La Première passengers arriving at the airport. Customers will have the option to relax post-flight, avail themselves of shower facilities if desired, and retrieve their checked baggage.

Acting as a tranquil haven amidst the bustling airport environment, this lobby embodies French elegance and sophistication. Meticulously crafted by Air France experts in collaboration with the SGK Brandimage agency, its design seamlessly combines individualized spaces while preserving an overall sense of expansiveness. Decorated in a palette of white and gray accented with touches of red, the lobby boasts abundant natural light and showcases exquisite furnishings from renowned French designers such as Pierre Paulin and Christophe Pillet. Every detail, from the precise stitching to the luxurious upholstery, exudes an aura of haute couture.

Once formalities are concluded, each guest will be escorted to the La Première lounge via an exclusive private passage featuring a dedicated security checkpoint. Along this pathway, a series of images portraying the airline’s iconic winged seahorse will immerse guests in the distinctive world of La Première, serving as a captivating accompaniment throughout their journey.

An exclusive lounge reserved for La Première passengers

Crafted by architect Didier Lefort, the Air France La Première lounge epitomizes exclusivity, spanning an impressive 1,000 square metres (10,700 square feet). This sanctuary offers guests tranquil retreats, exuding a sense of serenity and the promise of an extraordinary experience. Gastronomy naturally commands the spotlight, featuring a meticulously curated menu and wine selection crafted by Alain Ducasse and his esteemed team. Nestled at the heart of the lounge is a luxurious spa and beauty treatments area, operated by Sisley, the pioneering French brand renowned for its plant-based cosmetology.

New suites connected to the lounge

For the utmost privacy prior to a journey or during layovers, La Première passengers will now have the option to reserve exclusive suites spanning nearly 45 square meters (nearly 500 square feet), conveniently located adjacent to the La Première lounge. Three suites will be available, with the option to adjoin two of them upon request.

Upon arrival in these serene havens, guests will be personally guided through the suite options and amenities by a dedicated butler. Each suite will feature a spacious living area, a bedroom with a double bed, a well-appointed bathroom, and a comfortable outdoor patio. Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in a specially curated menu crafted by Alain Ducasse and his team for the La Première lounge, as well as access the renowned Sisley spa. Adorned with fresh flowers, luxurious linens, and haute-couture finishes, the aim is to create a regal atmosphere within Air France’s Paris-Charles de Gaulle hub.

In alignment with the architectural style of the check-in lobby and La Première lounge, the suites will embody a variation of privacy pods. Each suite will boast its own distinct character, meticulously curated through thoughtfully designed decor. Air France has meticulously selected iconic examples of French design, including Charlotte Perriand’s writing table, Pierre Paulin’s Ribbon chair, and Philippe Starck’s Privé sofa. Additionally, each suite will feature a unique artwork by a French artist, adding a touch of cultural richness to the luxurious surroundings.

This new private airport journey and access to the La Première lounge are included as part of Air France’s La Première service. The airport suites are offered as an option, starting at 800 euros.

A new La Première cabin coming soon

Following the implementation of Air France’s new exclusive airport experience, the airline will shift its focus towards introducing its extensively redesigned La Première cabin in winter 2024-25. Setting a new standard in length, this cabin will boast the longest configuration on the market, offering five windows to passengers. Moreover, it will showcase up to three modular and entirely private living spaces, enhancing the journey with a truly exceptional travel experience: a seat, a chaise lounge, and a flat bed. With this innovative configuration, La Première will be extended across a greater number of aircraft compared to its current deployment.

As of summer 2024, Air France will have 19 Boeing 777-300 ERs outfitted with La Première suites, flying to Abidjan, Dubai, Los Angeles, Miami, New York-JFK, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Tokyo-Haneda and Washington.

BA Euroflyer to launch new Lapland flights to Ivalo this winter from London Gatwick

British Airways has added Lapland to its list, and checked it twice, as it prepares to launch new flights to Santa Claus’s home region this winter.

Departing from London Gatwick, new twice-weekly flights will launch on December 3, 2024 and fly customers to Ivalo, which is home to Finland’s most northerly airport.

Ivalo is a village on the Ivalo River in Lapland, located in the Arctic Circle. It welcomes visitors from all over the world, particularly during the winter months, to enjoy cold weather and Christmas activities. It is known as a gateway to Saariselkä, a resort village attracting those who enjoy winter sports from skiing and snowmobile safaris to toboggan rides and snowshoeing.

Flights will be operated by BA Euroflyer, British Airways’ short-haul subsidiary based at London Gatwick’s South Terminal. Customers can take skiing or snowboarding equipment as part of their checked baggage so long as the bag is within 190 x 75 x 65cm.

Ivalo joins Tromsø in Norway, which was announced last week as a new route to join the winter schedule from London Heathrow this December.

In addition to Ivalo, BA Euroflyer has also launched new flights to Larnaca, Cyprus. Flights will operate daily* for the winter season from November 4, 2024 as morning departures, returning in the late afternoon. This means that Larnaca will be served by both London Heathrow and London Gatwick for winter, offering customers a wider choice of departure airports for winter sun.

BA Euroflyer operates in a similar manner to the company’s existing subsidiary, BA Cityflyer, flying under the British Airways brand and delivering the premium British Airways service customers know and love. The issuance of an individual Air Operator’s Certificate and Operating Licence for BA Euroflyer enables the airline to begin the transition of aircraft, flight crew and cabin crew to the wholly owned subsidiary, which is based at London Gatwick.

British Airways launched BA Euroflyer on March 29, 2022, when the airline began operations under the British Airways Air Operator’s Certificate. The launch of BA Euroflyer marked the return of international short-haul flying from London Gatwick following the Covid-19 pandemic. This summer, customers flew to more than 30 destinations across the network – including Amsterdam, Santorini and Marrakech and hundreds of new flight crew, cabin crew and office-based colleagues have joined the BA Euroflyer team.
