Le cedre is a magical scent - beautifully blended, soft and enveloping. It starts with almost violet tinged black pepper that rolls quickly into a warm cardamom and cedar that sings ethereally around the wrist and neck for about 2- 3 hours. A bit like strolling round an old wood barn with morning sun streaming through the rafters. Beautiful stuff. My hunt for a cruelty free niche scent is over! Happily taking off my boots and going 100 mls....

I was mystified by this one for the longest time, because I simultaneously love and am repulsed by it.

In a real Proust with the madeline type moment, I finally remembered that we had an incredibly strong smelling, delicious old wood cedar storage closet in my childhood home. My mother decided, in belt and suspenders mode I suppose, to scatter moth balls all over said cedar closet. I was devastated, because I used to go in the closet to enjoy the combination of the cedar smell mingling with the Arpege and L’Air du Temps clinging to the stored clothing, and those damn moth balls absolutely broke the accord, interfered with the bouquet and harshed my buzz. And I didn’t realize until just now how offended my five year old self was by the interference!

My best guess is that the cashmere wood note is the mothball in the ointment here, but it might be one of the pepper notes. The cedar, incense and floral notes are are great, but there’s a sharp synthetic camphorish note that kills it for me.

On my skin, though not sprayed directly onto it, mostly sweaty, fairly dry brown wood, with the pepper probably contributing to the sweatiness, and with just enough sweet florals and suchlike underneath to stop the thing potentially going all-out Captain Caveman. It's probably not a bobby dazzler but I like it. Perhaps more classically unisex than some of the other woody Miller Harris offerings. Sillage is moderate, but much more of that and this might be brusque. If you want to punch someone in the face with your perfume then Miller Harris may not always float your boat. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I get lots of churchy frankincense mixed with cedar. It's very woody, and rather dry. I don't get any of the listed florals, but I do get a little "something" with a hint of sweetness.
I would probably like to smell it on others, but not on me.
Leans masculine, imo.

Very nice spicy woody scent. To my nose a dead ringer for Bon Parfumeur 702 except that has lavender for the floral and this apparently has orchid/mimosa.
But this is double the price. Bon Parfumeur is the better buy for peppery incense floral cedar.

A beautiful, dry, dusty, somewhat floral cedar scent. Its has some similarities to Angeliques sous la pluie but without angelica and added mimosa and i dont like mimosa. I ended up selling it due to its sheer austerity and that mimosa that pops up at some point.

as a dedicated lover of cedar, i tested this numerous times over several seasons, thinking surely it would finally hit the sweet spot in either warmer or colder weather; in dryer or more damp times of year. that there is no mention of violet leaf anywhere in the note pyramid is truly shocking as that seems to be the most amplified and prominent of notes on every test run; the violet is practically shouting at me. cedar is definitely present and if my skin chemistry would allow that to come through more i'd probably enjoy this scent.

claims of being unisex may not be universally applicable, and this is coming from a woman that doesn't typically shy away from unisex offerings (or indeed masculine leaning fragrances.)

Le Cedre has a sharpness and humidity to it that feels almost contradictory, which i've found to be both consistently interesting and overwhelming. the tiniest bit goes a long way, so if you enjoy Le Cedre you'll certainly get quite a lot of product for your money.

this fragrance teeters between being almost commercially casual and incredibly austere. despite my numerous test runs in all conditions, i was unable to appreciate Le Cedre in the manner that is intended. i'd have a difficult time suggesting this as a safe blind buy to anyone, especially cedar lovers that may be taken in by the name. yes, cedar is there; make sure you feel completely comfortable with the other notes that ride alongside the cedar because you will be wearing them for a significant amount of time once applied.

this is a minor criticism; the bottles from the Library line are not attractive. while i appreciate the minimalist effort, it doesn't actually look nice. for the price i'd hope to clap eyes on something a bit more interesting.

This is love at first sniff. It is woody and slightly spicy (fresh and warm spicy at the same time). Stays quite close to the skin but you can feel the smell every time you lift up your head. It is sexy and masculine but even women could wear it as it doesn't scream out loud.

If you are going for an autumn walk in in a wood filled with browns yellows and russet colours and nutty aromas then this is LeCedre. And some.

I love its strong woody tops and its amazingly subtle and long lasting depths. This is a fragrance you WILL be aware of all day; and so will others.

MH says it's gender neutral but be warned this to the very top quality of woody scents.

Got a hold of Le Cèdre a short while back and I must say I rather enjoy it. Having tried a few other scents from Miller Harris I would say that this one would be recognized as scent form that house.

The dominant note is certainly cedar, as you would expect but there is also a mystifying mix of spices of which black pepper is most apparent to me. There is also a very nice smokey incense that adds a bit of allure and compliments the cedar and woods rather nicely together with a pleasing musk There is a certain bitterness to Le Cèdre that I find quite appealing. Many woodsy accords pair with sweet notes which is prefectly fine as does this supposedly with Orchid and Mimosa, even if I cannot distinguish these notes. I like woodsy sweet notes a great deal but Le Cèdre adds something new to the mix which is think is very interesting! I am not really sure where the bitterness comes from though, might be the incense or Cedar itself.

The scent is also quite dry, while certainly not powdery. Rather, it's a tobacco-esque dryness which fits really well with the incense and woods. It adds a very nice and quaint roughness to the accord and actually makes me wonder if there aren't traces of tobacco somewhere in the background.
