I wore this today for the first time and I have had many compliments. It is a cold autumn day and this scent is very comforting, beautifully blended vanilla and soft leather (not overpowering). Makes me feel very warm, comfortable and elegant all at the same time. Glad I got the full bottle, it is worth it.

Creamy vanilla, tuberose and leather play in the background. Boring 😮💨

I’m selling a 99/100ml bottle without box for 150€ + shipping from France, pm me if interested

Loose Goose

Mix of creamy notes and a boring bitter leather.
Mediocre performance

Someone said dolls head vanilla, I was looking for someone else who picked up the same thing I did! There’s something here that transports me to being a kid at a flea market in the 90s playing with troll dolls in the sun. I thought I was just being a weirdo, but I’m not the only one!

I typically adore BDK, but to be honest for my taste Crème de Cuir is everything I wanted Vanille Leather to be from the name. The notes on this one look glorious and it’s lovely on paper, but there’s something about it (I think it’s one of the florals) that clashes with the white leather for me and creates that pulverized almond/powdered vinyl/hot plastic doll note. I don’t hate it, but it’s not inspiring joy for me.

On the plus side, the longevity is 10 hours and the sillage is huge!

anjosuarez09

This is straight out Giardini Di Toscana Celeste in the BDK way! omg!

Vanille Leather was not what I expected. Reminds me of Tom Ford’s Vanilla Sex but less plasticky.

This is Police "Forbidden". Which I'm not mad about because I ADORE forbidden by police but it is identical in my opinion. It is warm vanilla, ambery, it's a classic vanilla Amber perfume and it's deliciously caramelly and gourmand with an added underlying perfume waft of leather which for me is like less manly leather more bmw fancy car that's owned by a woman. It has this delicate vibe to it. It's a beautiful fragrance, perfect for autumn or winter - warm, caramel, vanilla, amber, with whispers of floral and leather (that perfumed leather). It's gorgeous. If you don't want to spend $400 on a bottle look for Police Forbidden (perhaps discontinued) or police born to shine - both gourmand vanilla amber scents.

To my nose, the powdery vanilla, mixed with leather kicks in and stays there. Drydown is tea like, medicinal even. Sharp to my nose.
Lasts around 1 hour on my skin (typical) , then stays with the final notes- 6 hours of no washing or heavy sweating, still there.
I had a sample, I liked it, saw here it was the concoction of Dominique Ropion (said 'aha, that's why' ) , I hunted down an unopened bottle, bought it.
Projection, can't pronounce myself on it.
I bought it at around 60% of the MSRP, and still think it's not really worth the price. I think the price is 50% worth (most BDK are overpriced in my opinion) .
Leans more feminine- very docile .
Quality blend, but it's nothing out of the ordinary. Still, I like it.

Cannanou

Pulls vanilla and floral for me. No leather notes.

On my skin eternal. One dab of this projects 1 - 2 hours alone.
I dont get any leathery aspects, gourmand almondish vanilla. Really nice.

You REALLY have to like vanilla to endure this.

Unisex imo. This stuff is too strong on me, even when its - 15° Celsius outside

I've tried most of BDK, and this one hit that sweet spot for me. I love powdery and dry floral fragrances and vanilla and leathery perfumes. Went through a bag of niche samples for the second time, and this one stood out .....for me. Perfectly balanced sweet notes of vanilla and white florals with a soft leather accord to make it deep and sexy. Sexy vanilla fragrance that lasts.

Kaareneparker

I am not getting hardly any leather which is ok with me. I get a creamy powdery violet with a hint of spice. Maybe there is a hint of leather about 20-30 minutes into it but it is so well balanced that is just smells Devine! Definitely smell the white florals. I love it!

traublee

Vanille Leather has been my go-to vanilla scent for the past few months and introduction to the house of BDK. To me it's a really stunning vanilla soft fragrance that has slight hints of woody-leather. As for the other notes, I barely have noticed them or at all.

A great fall-winter or a cold weather scent that can be sprayed on during both day and night. It has the right amount of sweetness, the longevity is there while the projection is something to be desired but it still performs very well.

Imaging being hugged by a very wealthy uncle right after he just got off his private jet and brought you goodie from his last trip! It’s deeply leathery but smooth.

Dmiddy

Smells like a Cherry Merry Muffin doll right out of the package.

A.Bandini

A bit non descript and light. A bit of vanilla, a bit of suede and not much else. Dont get any of all those heavy notes listed up there. Leans feminine.

Allieeeee

Im not really impressed by this one... I usually LOVE BDK frags, Pas Ce Soir was my first love, but I just can't get behind this. It's a bit one-noted? Maybe I need to give it more time but all I get is leather, and for some reason my brain associates the other floral notes in there with Windex (?!?). For Peet's sake, this is not what I wanted for Vanille Leather 😔 Disaster.

Lincolngirl96

I wish I could say I love this one but I just can’t get past the tuberose in it. It’s so cloying and screechy. I wish I was picking up more of the orris and iris.

If you’re sensitive to tuberose beware

chelleeebelly

Love this scent but I have to be careful not to overspray it. A very elegant, refined, powdery iris. I am not a huge fan of iris but there is something modern and unique to this scent which keeps me coming back. There is a soft suede next to the iris. I imagine this scent with a cashmere sweater, wool coat, running around the city and lunching with friends. It is not a huge projector but I don't always want my scent to scream. I can only tolerate a max of 3 sprays. It is cloying to me after the 3.

Diamiadan

Anyone selling a bottle? I’m looking to buy.
Thank you

POV You just opened up grandma's purse... the leather is there, but it's been touched one too many times by hands covered in skin so soft, or ponds... creamy leather. She also has some pressed powders and lipstick that should have been thrown out 20 years ago on standby, just in case. Powder bomb. Florals and orris really stand out in this, the violet is aggressively present. This scent has a very mature finish, it is pleasant, but definitely in a comforting classy grandma way... I feel as though I have enough youth left in me that I don't want to rock this scent yet. But when I feel like paying homage to the ladies that helped raise us, and honor their memory by wearing something reminiscent of their life in the mid 20th century, this is what I will reach for.

Qx.susie

So this is an initial impression. I will come back and update in a few months with the hope that I didn't just waste $300.

I've tested it for 5 days now and this is what I get.

Oh wait, before that I have to note. The bottle is cheap! The cap is hard to come off, it leaks! And the label scratched almost instantly. It's like one of those lottery scratch cards. I nicked my nail on it and it drew a line. Very unimpressed.

Okay onto the scent.....

The opening is so weird. Smells like dirt and something very artificial. Not plastic but .... yeah actually maybe plastic. It's also very dusty/chalky smelling. Omg I really dislike that. I'm sniffing it again on my arm as we speak.

At first I thought it was the orris, usually I don't have a problem with that note, but I've never experienced it in niche perfumery, so maybe that's why it's giving more dirty root than normal. It just smells like the ground. Not even earthy like the positive qualities of an earthy fragrance, this is just giving dirt.

What I do like, is the violet. Ughh I love violet, it's one of my favorite notes. It's almost candied in here but definitely not overly sweet. As it dries down you get a slightly sweet soft powdery violet. Don't like the powder but I like the violet.

And that's it. I don't get any florals as of now, aside from violet. No leather really, not even patchouli. Just orris, earthiness (maybe that's the patchouli) and violet.

Of course, I'm going to give it time to mature. I need it to change and open up more so I can really determine what this smells like. I feel like it hasn't done so as yet. I will say, in my experience, the projection and lasting power is great. I get hours and hours and once I took a shower and still smelled it on my arm after.

Important to note

This smells very very similar in the drydown to loubirouge. I've been testing that one too and when it dried down I kept thinking "I already have this scent!" And then finally it hit me. They have similar notes and accords also.

As of right now, I'd take Loubirouge all day over this one because it's opening is much better and it's generally much creamier and smoother. However it's an unfair decision to make at this point since I've only had VL for a little over a week now.

I'll report back but don't blind buy this one!

CHEERS!

Peffrey

Try it on your skin, folks!
Beautiful composition. The vanilla gives a warm and gourmand feeling. It isn't animalic in any way; yes, it has leather in it, but it's more of a clean and warm leather. But the best part of it all is the clean sillage that violet and jasmine provide. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try out a slightly creamier and sweeter leather scent.

Clws

On paper I love this. On me I don't. The vanilla is a little dolls head vanilla, which I do like, but it doesn't mesh with the leather for me. Add in the violet, a fairly prominent orris root and the fact that the leather smells like soft beluga skin...it's not a winner for me. If I could just sniff from the nozzle, I'd love it. I'm not too experienced with BDK yet, although I love Tabac Rose and Gris Charnel, it's probably just my nose. I'd rec testing, not a dabber test. When I did a Luckyscent dabber I really disliked, I then got a decant from a friend and it's much different. I'll revisit it in a few months, maybe this is more spring/summer for me. Quality is great, as per usual with this brand.

aniton

It is nauseating to me. Violet is quite prominent, alongside discernible notes of leather and vanilla. Surprisingly, it's the first BDK scent I disliked. It feels out of tune on my skin, with the notes standing apart rather than blending seamlessly. The result is a cloying and heavy scent, unfortunately a scrubber.

Digi3573

save your coins folks . I do love the scent but has zero projection or longevity

ioanaszmeu

So this perfume has a lot of my favourite notes. I love vanilla, violets, tuberose, and a well made leather accord. So no surprises, I adore this! It's a sophisticated sweet vanilla, with violets coming secondary and then complemented by a soft leather, and most importantly, a leather that doesn't smell like oily car seats, but rather a leather purse. The white florals also add a nice touch. Regarding the immature comments saying this is a grandma smell, i think you people need a little growing up to do, or just enjoy your gourmand fruity florals, ariana grandes and cookie smells in peace, since this perfume is obviously not for you.
If you like stuff like Insolence, Putain des Palaces, Orchidee Vanille, Valentina Poudre, Kelly Caleche and everything vanilla, you'll probably enjoy this as much as I do!

Andreea2906

Love it! Powdery tuberose, violet, leather with hints of vanilla 🥰 Best blind buy of 2023. Wish it would project and last more though.

Pepeb007xx

for me, its lower version of Vanagloria, good vanila, but its not so strong

LauraVTerrazas

Very nice but a little too rich (& not in the best way) 😕

Kylix

Montale’s stuff.

VanessaD19

Vanille leather is a gorgeous floral vanilla with a slight nuance of leather/suede. Its pretty complex. You get a little bit of fresh spicy from the pink pepper and the oak wood makes this smell different from most of the other floral fragrances out. The violet, iris and vanilla create this beautiful powderiness and the balmy white florals are stunning. I bought 2 samples and I can tell right now that im absoloutly going to fly through them. This may be full bottle worthy for me or at least worth a bigger decant. Something to get me by until this makes its way to the discount sites.

So much tuberose, too much tuberose for me.

amanda0727

No one has mentioned this but wow this smells a lot like Love Tuberose to me. It's basically Love Tuberose with violet and hint of resin. I love it but it definitely gives off a vintage vibe....in a good way

VANILLE LEATHER: HI, MY NAME IS VIOLET, AND I'M A PERFUME.
THEM: HI, VIOLET!!!!
What group of geniuses at BDK had the dumb idea to label this as a vanilla and leather perfume and why???

I'll tell you why. It's because the smell of violets are normally associated with old ladies and grannies! This fragrance is Violet on steroids, to the point that it burns my nostrils when I spray it. Couldn't smell leather for the life of me!

Luckily, it does dry down to a soft, powdery floral with a hint of vanilla after about 4 hours. It's not a bad perfume, per se, it's just not worth the $$$$ for what you're getting.

pink gallery gal

I bought a10ml of this recently so that I could test it at home. I would recommend this as a wonder complex vanilla. It’s a love at first sniff. I adore the beginning the middle and the dry down. Yes, It’s vanilla but it’s not boring to my nose. It’s layered and sophisticated. It’s perfect for winter nights. Wonderful projection and longevity. Love love love.

aisoo

Vanilla coupled with violet and iris, didn't pick up on leather much. Overall a good sweet and powdery fragrance.

coco1981

A rich, sweet, smooth violet caramel with a powdery finish. Zero leather.
Like an expensive toffee in a purple wrapper.
A decadent, sexy gourmand with a delicious sillage.

Farrque

Iris, warm vanilla, carrot seeds and a touch of suede.
Honestly quite addicting. This is what I wanted Byredo's Vanille Antique to be.
Warm, sweet but not sickly sweet at all perfectly balanced by the slightly metallic, purple hue of iris.
As time passes this becomes less of a vanilla-focused scent and just a well balanced blend of round, sweet goodness.
Totally unisex.
BDK has a high standard but they knock it out of the park with this one!

Cocosette

Try layering with Dior Home Parfum.
Thanks uncle Dominique!

BDK Vanille Leather smells like grape laffy taffy candy in an opened wrapper, thrown in a clean leather bag. I don’t really get the petrol accord some people pick up and thank goodness. Or maybe I’m completely off? I did test straight from the bottle so I’m going to stick with it. The grape laffy taffy is most likely the violet, a tad powdery but candy sweet in an adult way. Actually Giardini Di Toscana Celeste Giardini Di Toscana came to mind when I smelled this and I also noted that Celeste smelled like grape laffy taffy to me, except there were sweeter starbursts added.

In Vanille Leather, it is a very “adult” amount of sweetness. It isn’t a powder puff because I think the orris root is adding the right amount while creating a smoothness. The benzoin also helps tame the violet that could’ve been more powdery. For me, Electimuss Mercurial Cashmere is more of a bubblegum tuberose, smoother with more vanilla and caramel but less “candy” vibes. This is pretty, but maybe the name could’ve been different. A nice surprise regardless. A profile still not commonly done and I think it performs well.

Enrium

For a scent with leather in its name, it doesn't feature strongly here as a note. In fact, it is perhaps just a contributory factor to the amber accord of the base. More accurately, Vanille Leather could be described as a vanilla-sweetened white floral with an amber base, featuring a hint of violet up top. Balmain Jolie Madame, one of my favourite vintage scents, features a violet-leather accord, the high of which I have been chasing ever since. Nothing else comes close, and VL is inapplicable, as it is not a violet-leather scent.

VL opens with a hint of Parma violets, more powdered candy than floral. This quickly gives way to the sweet white florals that form the heart of this scent. Smooth and creamy, the orange blossom adds a tropical edge, while the tuberose adds bubblegum-like sweetness. The vanilla is smooth and sweet, enhancing the sweetness of the florals. It refrains from being a gourmand however, with the amber base adding a semblance of classic refinement.

The amber accord develops as it approaches the drydown phase, sweet and balsamic, marrying nicely with the vanilla. I get a hint of leather at the later stages, marrying nicely with the other amber-esque notes. A pinch of patchouli adds a nice earthy counterpoint to the sweetness. The oak note adds a lovely woody edge, nutty and slightly earthy. I think that oak is an underrated woody note in perfume - beautiful in its own right, it makes for a nice change from the synthetic cedar or harsh Australian sandalwood that are so frequently found in modern scents. It becomes a sweet, warm musky skin scent as it fades. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is feminine-leaning in my opinion, but could be unisex.

VL is pleasant, well-rounded and good-quality, but for a good leather-dominant scent, try Crème de Cuir from this house instead. More Vanille than Leather. 4/5.

silthrill

Ok, this is sweeter than I thought this was going to be, but hear me out. It's very poorly named and not accurately described by the brand- a name like "vanilla leather" makes you expect something different. The brand described this as something "mysterious" , etc. It's not that at all - she is TROPICAL, warm, sweet, enveloping, but definitely not "vanilla leather". If you strip away your expectations based on the name, it's actually really well blended and beautiful. It is 80% Mizensir's Poudre d'Or, and 20% Strangers Perfumerie Chokedee - two very beautiful tropical masterpieces. If you like the Tiare note, you will love this even though it's not listed as a note (it could just be the combination of florals that give it the Tiare vibe). I get jasmine here but not much tuberose. The leather note is there but barely detectable. Overall, this is a touch sweeter than I'd like it to be but I can certainly appreciate it. It's one of those fragrances that I won't go out of my way to buy a full bottle of, but if someone gifted it to me I'd keep it and use it. If I was going to buy a FB of BDK, my #1 is still Villa Neroli.

aimcox

This might not be the vanille leather combination you expect but it is classy (I am using that rather dated term intentionally because the vibe is very old school pulled together). If you have had the opportunity to smell Serge Lutens' Daim Blond, then you have a clear sense of what this smell does. I say "does" and not "is" because it creates a vibe that aligns with the essence and energy of the wearer. This is a duet, a dance, an engagement - not a a scent that plays dead on the body or wears the wearer. This last comment comes after smelling this on myself and four other folks. This is a scent that lengthens your spine when you walk and brings more ease and elegance to every mundane task. If you don't like it, I respect that. If you don't like the fact that the name doesn't match the scent, that's some other thing. I have scents that I respect but don't wear. I have scents whose composition I don't necessarily respect but do something to how I move or feel about myself so I can't put them down. I have scents that wear more like a mood than a fragrance bubble. Vanille Leather is the latter for me. I would rename - Violet Suede. But, also don't really give a s*&t what it's called.

Othman D.

Awful fragrance, awful company that makes very synthetic perfumes. Never going to buy anything from them again

gabri

Too bad the comments indicated this fragrance is not that great. The notes sound OK except for
Tuberose which I despise.

pillowhead

whoever made this needs to be fired how is this called vanille leather when it smells like a floral mess???

Phylira

I feel like I have a cavity in my tooth after wearing this. Artificial mess. Best release is still Gris Charnel. Pass

aristov

Are the vanilla and leather in the room with us?

AnastasiaGostieva

Heavy on white floral notes in the opening (mostly orange blossom??). Reminds me of more unisex (bolder) version of Love by Kilian. Because it has dark vanilla and leather in the base instead of caramel. But it’s still sugary sweet. Too much for me.

Stampinator

It wasn't love at first sniff but wow did it grow on me. This has a dusty powder element that is reminiscent of my grandmother's makeup drawer but more modern, deep resinous and quite cosy. I really like this A LOT. I am currently wearing it on an overcast, cool and rainy spring day and it is perfect for this kind of conditions. The dry down is particularly enticing. A solid release and one that is full bottle worthy. Gorgeous.

DariaDark

Hm, I expected more from this. Where is Jasmine? Is this supposed to be Violet? I just don't know what to take from this. It is a bit rough and peppery, but mostly Vanilla, vanilla, vanilla. Not a fan, just a personal thing.
I will leave this one to someone who'll love it more.

Edit: After a few days, I didn't get the urge to try this again. I didn't even finish my 1.7ml sample. I think I can safely conclude that I should move on.

darbyki18

Damnit! Y'all are good! I knew it this was familiar!

I got a blast of candied violet backed by leather in the opening, but the leather quickly subsides and the warm sweet berry violet ambery dry down is good and.... Like something I know! Mercurial Cashmere.... I knew fragrantica would help me solve this mystery! It's still a love for me. While it's sweet, it's not as syrupy as MC.

jeca

Iris/violet lead the fragrance. Non aggressive, smooth, soft non-sweet vanilla in the back and just a pinch of carnal white florals (tuberose) for character. Unisex towards feminine.

applejack78

This fragrance should've been called Violet Vanille or Vanille Violet because I barely smell leather. This is a sweet violet vanilla scent and it's very feminine. I also smell caramel even though it's not one of the notes. It's similar to Eilish #1. I can't wait to get a full bottle!

Baltabarin

VANILLE LEATHER - It's a floral that shifts towards a powdery, peppery facet accompanied by a sharp note, and honestly, not the most convincing leather I've ever come across; the vanilla is a distant mirage, treated more like a spice than a sweet or gourmand note. Unfortunately, not only does this fragrance seem to lack a distinct voice, but I also don't quite grasp who it's meant to speak to...

If, like me, you were hoping for a fragrance that marries vanilla and leather, I can only recommend Clean Suede by ELdO; you won't be disappointed.

Marie20707

I’m testing out a 10ml decant. Upon first sniff it’s reminiscent of when I used to play with dolls and that clean smell of a shampoo when I’d wash my dolls. Can’t have dirty dolls.

This is very well blended. The leather note is slight and is in the background. I get a hint of vanilla in this. I smell the white florals and I get some of the powderiness from the orris, along with the resin from the benzoin. Thankfully the patchouli is dialed back in the dry down.

I can see this being worn year round due to the white florals and how it’s blended. It’s quite lovely. I’m still testing the longevity. It’s nice, but don’t blind buy it. Check for samples or decants.

Projection: 4/5
Longevity:4/5
Price: right now it’s only available through EBK, Harrods or overseas retailers, so you’re going to pay a shipping charge.

Christer0619

the name is a lie, bought a sample thinking this was going to be a nice warm vanilla and leather scent, but i was wrong, ofc i did research and read the notes and rewievs but still, on me i only smell two main things. 1. tuberose 2 jasmine. obviusly there is a sliht hint of vanilla to make it sweet but the main thing about this scent is a white floral based one.

Bibi16

Spicy opening! The pink pepper is definitely present then the jasmine and sweet sweet tuberose are second in line on a bed of leather. The vanilla is in the background at least on my skin. It’s nice but not worth the £195.

Zuccarello

I read this website daily during the pandemic and periodically prior to it and I have smelled hundreds of fragrances over the past fifty years. Along with synesthesia and common migraine, love of perfume are three things that are not supposed to go together but are true for me. I'm not going to spend much time on my thoughts regarding Vanille Leather except to say all elements of the fragrance are currently on first opening, soft, leaning just feminine from unisex...not that it matters. Given that this is my first post, I would like to comment on the comments. They delight me every day. Everyone certainly cares about fragrance, and everyone writes like they are a graduate perfumer. What amazes me is the incredible diversity of individual feelings about the scent in question. Whoa! It boggles my mind. But over time you all have taught me a lot. Over time I know and can identify dominant accords i generally like and those I always don't, although I find I need to be open-minded about the blending of disliked accords (like rose or tuberose) with accords I enjoy. And you also taught me not to give up on a fragrance since season, climate, skin conditions, emotions, and the evolution of the blend in the bottle depending on how it is stored will change from wearing to wearing. Vanille Leather is a fragrance I like but suspect I will like it better in six months or two years. Time will tell. In any event, Thank all of you for your help and your love of perfumes......Z

GizPop

Initially I didn’t care for it, but it is addictive. The name doesn’t suit it at all, as it reminds me more of doll heads and makeup. The performance is excellent.

SmellingEurope

Nah. It kind of gives me Carner Barcelona Tardes Vibes. You expect a Vanilla but you get hit with artificial smelling plasticy florals and vintage notes. It smells like a grandma who accidentally also used a spray of a vanilla body mist.

Vannamae__

Loved the opening, that’s when I smelled the tuberose and I thought oh wow this is a nice tropical vanilla but that faded fast, within minutes and I was left with a powdery, violet heavy softer vanilla scent that I didn’t care for. Very soft wearing, close to the skin type of scent and more of a violet bomb than anything else. Sold my bottle but I might have kept it if it had kept that nice tuberose vanilla I smelled in the beginning but even so, I’m sure it wouldn’t last as this brand is not known for it’s longevity and projection. Also I’m not sure why this is even called vanille leather…. I get no leather lol. A big miss for me unfortunately. Definitely sample first. Gris charnel is still my fav from this house.

shalimarlover

super powdery feminine fragrance. its primarily violet, tuberose and vanilla, very pleasant, but not a unique smell, and not accurate to call it unisex.

taylor_1499

As noted, the violet is quite prominent, which for me was a plus as I've been on the hunt for a vanilla-violet fragrance that doesn't read too girly or too vintage. On my skin, I get a really smooth suede note as well, which adds a rich "texture." I don't pick up on the white florals at all, nor do I detect much if any patchouli.

I can see how from the name, this may not meet expectations. But for me, it's a delightful violet, musky suede with a powdery vanilla, benzoin base. Very enjoyable and long lasting.

parispeach

As others have noted there’s no leather and the violet is very dominant here to the point it should have been named Violet Vanille.

The jasmine, tuberose and orange blossom are also quite strong alongside the violet with a very artificial vanilla musk combination in the base.

I am a fan of Bdk in general, not all of them but I own a few, and this is very disappointing.

The violet is 80’s make up powder reminiscent of my mum’s make up bag when I was a kid. It’s not a violet that feels of high quality, it’s sharp and clunky. I’m not the biggest fan of violet but I like a high quality violet that’s blended into a composition well. This is just too much.

The vanilla note was my last hope for this fragrance to be rescued, or blur the strong floral components but unfortunately that was the most disappointing part of the whole fragrance. This isn’t a nice vanilla whatsoever. It’s cheap smelling and very artificial.

In the air it smells quiet nice, and I’m sure on my mum I would tell her she smells nice. However up close and on myself, no way.

I’m a huge vanilla and leather fan so this was the biggest disappointment from 2023 for me personally as it didn’t showcase any of those notes properly.

Ps: Please don’t listen to YouTubers or influencers hyping this up. They only want their free bottle and to keep their brand reputation in tact. Go test it and do not blind buy like I did.

This is alright. It pulls (on my skin) almost entirely of tropical and animalic tuberose notes for the entire wear which is around 4 hours. After that, it’s a subtle and thin vanilla-ish skin scent. There is absolutely NO leather (again, on my skin) so I am very confused as to why this is called Vanille Leather. Now, the tuberose in this feels very waxy in a leather-y kind of way so I guess that’s how it figures?
I will use my 5 ml sample and move on from this one as I do not think it is full bottle worthy.
I highly recommend sampling this first if you are able…

A violet bomb.
Guerlain's Météorites that turn into.. Ange ou Démon by Givenchy ?!
Niche take on a designer classic from the 00s.

The comparison with Black Tie is so bizarre to me.

MASTERPIECE. Probably my fav from BDK after having smelled 10 of their fragrances. It's perfectly unisex, unlike others from this house that claim they're unisex but are instead very masculine. Full bottle worthy.
For me, this replaces TF Tobacco Vanille. I don’t have much experience with a leather note but in here it’s so creamy and beautiful, doesn’t overpower the other notes. Reminds me also of BDK Velvet Tonka (my other BDK favourite), but Vanille Leather is not as light and is more masculine giving it the perfect unisex quality. I also get that this is violet-heavy but I have no problem with that.
God this is so good.

One more time I’ve learned not to trust a raving reviews from TikTok and YouTube. It seems all these perfume bloggers are getting paid for their content. Am I the only one who doesn’t like this scent? It smells very VINTAGE. I imagine a rich old lady on Titanic wearing this perfume. If you like Chanel #5 or Shalimar, you might like this too. Although they don’t smell similar but from the same era.

Addictive!! Amber florals wrapped in delicate leather.
I mostly get candied violets, vanilla, soft leather and patchouli. This is elegant and different. The drydown is delicious, like caramalised vanilla, burnt caramel vibes (no smoke factor though).
If you want an elegant smelling vanilla frag, if you like violets and leather, this combo is a win. It leans more feminine to my nose. This would be bomb in the colder months.
Sample it, not a safe blind buy as many do not enjoy the note of violets and for some in this combo, it might not be a win. I do love it, for me it is a win🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎

This was a little strange for me. I was expecting something completely different, something deeper and darker. Initial blast I got something soft, creamy, and slightly reminiscent of Ylang in Gold. I'm not a huge fan of white or yellow florals, so I'm not going to lie, that was a bit of a disappointment. Thankfully, that does not last long (+/- 30 mins) and the vanilla gradually develops and intertwines with the orris or violet to turn into a first cousin of Black Tie, which is not a bad thing at all because I love Black Tie. I've been wearing this for about a week straight, and it transitioned from an "ok" to "really like" to "this is REALLY good." I would have preferred the leather to be more present, but I'm sure there's going to be an "Intense" version in the near future. I can see this becoming quite popular. Layers really well with Babycat.

Wow. Just wow! I finally got my order. This is a beautiful buttery floral vanilla that leans feminine. For those expecting leather, sadly this doesn’t appear in the fragrance which makes me wonder why it’s called Vanille Leather. But my goodness! This is one that had me dancing for joy. And I see Vanille Leather as one to wear all year round especially in the evenings or for date nights.

A more appropriate name would've been Violet Vanille.

Any "leather" is merely hinted at but there is an underlying warmth present that gives interest and I think it's the oak.

Ultimately, a smooth and pleasant vanille.

It all went so wrong, and it started when this white floral, dark woody concoction with a tint of smoke was named "Vanille Leather".

In all honesty, it's not that serious, but this is another dud. Ambre Safrano was WAY worse, but Vanille Leather is one that will go down as a miss for David Benedek. It's not that the scent is bad - it even smells like most of the work of BDK as a house. Yet it leaves me uninspired.

Re: Vanille Leather - white floral open, mild vanilla flank. Up-close has dark woody tones, mild smokiness (compare to woody tones in the top niche vanillas, e.g. Royal Crown "Sultan", Atelier des Ors "Lune Feline Extrait"). Some leather eventually, some powdery iris eventually. But the main conclusion is that this smells like designer. It has a linear, simple evolution; straight edges, hints of basic/people pleasing, and most importantly - it smells like it's been done before. The scent just twists ABC to BCD. It would be fine if the blend quality was out-of-this-world, but it really isn't.

This perfume is such a gorgeous smell, but unfortunately it gives me a headache due to one of the notes, and I've purchased a full bottle...willing to sell in Manchester, UK a full bottle missing 2 pumps!

sharidamoore

FINALLY a BDK that I love! Such a gorgeous release. Carnal florals, mixed with a sensual, ambery sweet vanilla, buttery orris, and a ribbon of suede gently gliding through it. AMAZING release.

Cinnamonbuns

Don’t walk … RUN to buy this one. It is so beautiful and the diffusion and sillage lasts for days. Bravo BDK for this magnificent creation!! It is divine.

UnseenPoetry

As I am a fan of Gris Charnel (edp), Rouge Smoking, and Pas Ce Soir, I'm sure this will be an absolute hit. Seeing similar top/mid/base notes to Guerlain's SDV (which I just ordered).
