Tried this alongside outrenoir and was surprised to find that i preferred this. It's slightly bitter, spicy, earthy, but also fresh, with a bit of a herbal/incense vibe. Reviews are saying that it's a very simple composition but personally I haven't smelled anything like this, at least not at this quality. Still sophisticated but a lot more outdoorsy and youthful than outrenoir which is beautiful but gives me a rich housewives having high tea impression.

tooksie

If you love Neroli but not that green note this is the one!!!

Deppaholic

Wow, after reading the + reviews, I'm thinking, this cannot be the same sample I have. Alas, it is. It's lasts forever with just the most gentle spray on the wrist. I don't get any type of floral/flower, probably because Neroli on me is not that friendly. I do however get a hay smell, sharp and very nose tickling, that it had me sneezing. I think this is for men mostly, however the right woman with the DNA for this could certainly pull it off. On me, it is a disaster. Not to worry, some of the best fragrances out there just don't play well with me. We are, after all, created very much alike, but still very different. So, try it, it has longevity, that is for sure! And also is a good thing.

Angelus Libri

Loved this at first smell at the Gueelain counter. Opens up remarkably invigorating. Lively citrus ginger ale aroma with just the right amount of cinnamon sprinkled on top. Quickly transforms into a gorgeous neroli. A bit indolic and sweet. Something powdery is in the mix maybe the tumeric although I have a hard time discerning it. The real beauty is in the deep dry down. The vetiver is pungent and earthy and provides a solid back bone to the composition. Last around 8-9 hrs good projection and sticks to the skin.

Cocosette

This is a nice neroli fragrance, distinctive and spicy in the opening, turning pleasantly sweet and smoky as it dries down. The vetiver is second to the neroli, but ultimately retains the typical sharpness and hair spray quality of the orange blossom, which I particularly like as it confers this sort of cleanliness to it.
Completely unisex with good longevity.

leatherorrisviolet

The comparisons that immediately come to mind are Le Labo Lavande and Xerjoff Kobe. Lavande, for the sweet neroli mixed with surrounding soapy notes. Kobe, for the mushroom note. I am ok with Neroli Plein Sud, but my wife genuinely despises it on me. She says i smell like a “cheap girl” lmao. That is definitely not something I want to smell like. On the plus side, performance is awesome for people who like this one

kperfume

I cannot even explain the notes. I guess I never smelled anything line this before. Such a lovely scent. omg.
Love from first sniff, and I am SO happy I tried it despite some of these reviews...
Wore it in winter, and now it's a proper spring - fantastic.

I received a sample of Néroli Plein Sud with my birthday Guerlain; the helpful online sales associate helped my husband choose some great samples this time; I think she was charmed that he spoke French with her on the phone. I would call NPS a unisex-leaning-feminine fragrance, but the earthy turmeric and vetiver keep the orange blossom from smelling too much like cleaning products. NPS imparts a clean, spa-like, elegant minimalist vibe, thanks to the cinnamon and woods, and a distinct creaminess that I can describe only as "expensive-smelling." It is really quite lovely, but I am satisfied with the less-expensive Guerlains, thank goodness, because the L'Art et la Matière line is un petit peu trop cher.

As this dries down, I'm getting that strange but not at all unpleasant accord that reminds me of Band-Aids. I smell this in L'Heure Bleue, a perfume I love unreservedly, so I don't mean to sound insulting. It must be part of the Guerlainade; I can smell it in L'Après l'Ondée. I assumed for a time that it must be clove or cassis, but now I'm not so sure.

melleners

You definitely get that sharp neroli scent on opening, but it turns very delicate and creamy with a hint of spice from the ginger and cinnamon. I like it. I think it might be even better mixed with a vanilla, maybe something sweet, like Tihota.

salespo612

A gorgeous, crisp and airy neroli that has just the right amount of sweet, green, and soapy facets. Bright, airy, and perfect for warm weather; but even then it’s almost impossible to justify the price for such a simple composition

3ak

So far this comes off as quite basic for the price. I feel like you could get a neroli similar to this or even better from other brands for way less, and from this same brand itself. Quality is good to me and I do like the sparkling ginger. But it's not doing enough for me right now to warrant buying. I have tons of neroli scents. I am glad the orange blossom doesn't take over and go into an overly creamy direction which to my nose can often make a fragrance smell muddled and overpower the other notes. Come dry down the sandalwood comes out and it's quite nice. Was hoping for some vetiver but I don't get much. But Guerlain already has 3 scents centered around neroli and vetiver from the Aqua Allegoria line. I won't buy. It's good just not $400 good.

Update: After a full day with my sample I like this more. The Dry Down with the sandalwood in combination with some sweetness is nice. So I changed my "ok" rating to a like. Still won't buy it.

therapywithangelica

I accidentally tried it last week at Neiman Marcus, it didnt hit me right there, and right away. it was 20 mins later, that i knew i had have it. Its a beast mode for me, and it lasts for days on your clothes. It evolves and change s beautifully on you. This is my favorite neroli fragrance right now. It has the right amount of sweetness, orange blossom and the green lush neroli. Its soapy in sweet way/neroli. I LOVE IT. you have let it sit on you. This is great for summer, hot weather. I didnt care for the other Neroli Outneir, i cant stomach the teas in it. Beautiful summer vacation fragrance... south of France

DiscoPolga

Green, light, airy - stands out from the lineup of your typical neroli colognes. Sparkling ginger in the opening, green neroli in the heart. I find it refreshing and I imagine this being a great choice for hot and humid weather.

kperfume

I am absolutely smitten by this fragrance.
Gave it several passes at NM because I was swayed by not so gentle reviews. So I had to make sure. And each time I tried it, I couldn't stop smelling my clothes. Wonderful longevity that delights for a long time.
Invigorating but comforting dry down and a bit spicy start. I love ginger notes in perfumes, so maybe that's why I like it from start to finish. Has nostalgic, dreamy qualities for me.

lmnsvgz

A very juicy take on a neroli scent. It has the bitterness of neroli with the classic Guerlain base. The opening is a bit spicy but juicy due to the ginger. It is a well done taste although not really my taste.

OlgaAnosova137

Spicy white florals? Floral spices? 60% Neroli, 40% spiciness. Who could have thought that ginger and neroli could play well together? They complement each other nicely: together fresh spiciness of ginger and clean, almost soapy white flower aroma create a fragrant concoction for those who want to be noticed and to let everybody know that neroli is their favourite flower. Vetiver here stands for fresh woodiness and enhances the spiciness as well as the sourness (?) of ginger: It is obscure but my nose can pick it. Tumeric with sandalwood adds a warm, a bit dusty, spicy exotic.

Néroli Plein Sud is not an easy-going perfume IMHO. It's a dense, linear, wholesome composition that leans a bit vintage.

Personal rating: 6/13

Update: At arm's length, Néroli Plein Sud smells similar to the sandalwood incense sticks you find in Indian stores...

Perfumato

It smells strongly like a pure & natural Tunisian Neroli with transparent light naunces of honey
Lightly spiced by ginger and turmeric.

I see this release suits the natural Neroli lovers.

To my personal taste I prefer Neroli Outernoir over this.

Cheers.

Surfinirfin

I get grass and a little bit of citrus

Eddie2082

I don’t understand the hate on this one. This is why I try the fragrances myself and not let the reviews influence my decision. This is absolutely awesome. Lasts a long time and I have never smelled neroli done this way. This is art.

A_Ferrera

Upon testing it smelled very soapy but then the soap started turning faecal!

I would assume that the turmeric and vetiver are clashing...pass.

The marketing campaign alone is laughable, Guerlain already scored Angelina Jolie so why the need for these no-name influencers?

ckorp8

Lovely soapy opening. The neroli and turmeric ginger combo was beautiful. Alas the dry down was very body odor like. Some might like that though. To me it fell from a love to a like because of that. Lasted over seven hrs on skin and over twelve on clothing.

Ghino

On my skin, it started to remind me of Le Labo's Lavande 31 two hours later (Odd!). The initial stage smelt like Carrefour's bio fusion tea Curcuma Gingembre, which I drink almost everyday. The ginger and turmeric notes somehow make the fresh aspect last longer and smell (probably unnaturally) sharper. Smart combination, though not my favorite neroli.

EstanciaMercedes

My nose didn't detect differentiated spices on the initial whiff, but goodness yes, arrival of the neroli and orange blossom made their presence in a riot of fragrance. An olfactory whirlwind with even a metallic note oddly screeching out. A good 20 minutes later, the secondary soapiness of the mix has dispersed, and the true and pure middle notes persist with vigor. Longevity and sillage are both leaning enormous. Vetiver is coming through more than sandalwood, but I may need to wait a few hours for the final dry down, the only reliable go/no-go criteria for me of whether I truly love a scent as I rarely reapply mid-day or later for a forte strength, which for me this is.

slowTurtle

Got a sample of this and WOW what an interesting fragrance. This opens very soapy with some ginger. The initial scent was off putting but it changes quickly and becomes a very orangey-neroli overload. As it settles it popped into my head that this smells just like those scented markers from my childhood - like the orange marker.

The dry down is a bit better, but still not for me! Boyfriend said “it smells like shitty baby powder”. Need to do more testing, but not a fan so far. I LOVE Neroli Outrenoir from Guerlain, so not sure why they made this one.

fragpixiephotography

by far worst of the releases from Guerlain in last 3-4 years. I thought musc outreblanc was no-go, but this is worse. Very cheap materials are in use and scent is just bland spicy neroli and something vaguely reminiscent of vetiver. It does not even last. I mean, musc and tobacco are decent longevity, this was 3h tops on my skin.

I have to say it pains me to see such downfall of a legendary house such as Guerlain. Price is only climbing up and quality slides down. One thing for sure with Néroli Plein Sud, it ended up on my naughty list for 2024. Easy pass and relief for my wallet :)

andrewatic

I sincerely hate it!
It smells very similar to and just as cheap as Yardley Gold for men in the late eighties. Same vibe of synthetic orange blossom/citrus/spice kind of thing, emanating the charm of a budget aftershave! It’s ok for a few bucks, but not for 455€!!!
To me, based on quite a few things she’s done recently including this awful cheapie, Jelk has run out of ideas and now, I believe, she most apparently hit the limit of her abilities as a perfumer. I think she should be replaced. She doesn’t have what it takes to run the show of the most reputable fragrance house on the planet!

There is one good thing about this monstrosity though, its tenacity is monumental, unfortunately!
I couldn’t scrub this crap off my skin, it just keeps going like an energizer bunny! Help!!!

Nikkoblue

It’s very nice.
Strong burst of neroli and spices, followed by a brief period of slightly raspy wood. This half hour leans masculine, but this stage fades quickly and becomes a warm, spiced neroli that lasts for hours…..a ‘winter neroli’. I like how this doesn’t rely wholly on orange blossom as so many neroli-centered scents tend to do. The orange blossom is there but not in your face and the spices to a good job of cutting the sweetness. Absolutely no gourmand feeling here either….. I prefer this over neroli outrenoir and I feel like it’s different from any other Guerlain scents so it’s definitely worth a try.

Dixieland Delight

Just got it. Clean, orangey neroli and delicate spices and woods. It smells unique to me, aside from having neroli in it(duh), but doesnt smell like any other Neroli frag I own. Neroli is a favorite note of mine.

The turmeric adds an earthy, almost woody ou-esque vibe that really sets off the soapy neroli.

As usual, the reviews did nothing for the fragrance.

9/10 and a big fan of Jelk

jeca

Just got it and I love it. It has some earthy almost iodine feeling of spices, and their warmth is detached, as if you look at the town lit by yellow street lights below from the plain that is landing. So far it is amazing.

cynthialacey52

Sounds delicious but for $395, I’ll just layer my Le Labo Neroli 36 with my Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit .

Dixieland Delight

Every new Guerlain on fragrantica:

"This is expensive and garbage. Nothing Guerlain has produced since 1970 is worth anything. Also, everything they made that was good I got for 20 bucks. This sucks."

Meanwhile, me after smelling them:

"This is beautiful."

This fragrance is beautiful.

ADNisHere

Sadly after Tobacco Honey they released this one and both acts like anything but guerlain, this one should be in the Tom Ford new private blend (I respect the old TF) not in Guerlain L'Art & La Matière collection, if we have Neroli outrenoir and it’s very beautiful and elegant why you bring something awful with the same note, why they wanna discontinue Tonka Imperial the masterpiece? Because they released the extrait? Are you gonna make the guerlainades only limited and for 1000$? After killing my favorite fragrance of all time LIDGE I'm not surprised by anything that happens after that!!!!!!
I feel really sad...
Guerlain is my favourite house but that’s why I respect Chanel, in Chanel we will never see so many reformulations and 100 bottles changed every year.

Juslife01

First of all, it’s a soapy scent. Not an oriental floral. It’s a Neroli Portifino kind of scent. It opens with a little ginger and fruity turmeric. Almost feel like a grape fruit. The middle note is soapy neroli, like someone mentioned Lavende 31 kind of vibe. The dry down is a soapy woody scent. But the santal is very subtle. It’s a safe daily scent for everyone and any occasion. But since this is the lart et la matiere collection, I’m expecting something unusual and extraordinary.

BostonScentGuy

I tried this yesterday at Saks in NY where they have a tester--very disappointing, unfortunately. I love neroli and love Guerlain and loved the sound of the notes but, alas, this was not for me. It definitely has the sharpness that real neroli essential oil has and I do detect some bits of spiciness ("cinnamon?" "turmeric?") in the background, but ultimately this is a chemical dihydromyrcenol disaster. It shares the vibe for me that Le Labo's new Lavande gives--an eau de cologne made shrieking and metallic from that harsh "man cologne" aromachemical of DHM...for reference, that note is overdosed in things like Drakkar Noir, it contributes to the Cool Water/GIT accord in those scents, and their ilk...and it's used sparingly and smartly in Serge Lutens Fourreau Noir. Not used judiciously here, alas. Yes, the Guerlain does have some spices in the background, but more a general spiciness and not an actual slug of turmeric or cinnamon or whatever it alleges to have. The screechiness continues into the drydown, which is very far from Guerlinade to be sure. Their might be some vanillic, floral creaminess there, but it is very very far in the background. I will stick to Neroli Outrenoir. Sad as the notes, the sunny color of the scent, etc. had me excited. If you want an uber-longlasting synthetic neroli, stick to Tom Ford. If you want a lovely Guerlain-esque orange blossom, you'll have to be content with L'Heure Bleue, L'Heure de Nuit, Mon Precieux Nectar.

barry1052

Tested this today very fresh and spicy opening not sweet neroli but a bit dirty which I like it a lot, dry down is woody white floral not a creamy sandalwood ~ quite long lasting

Dixieland Delight

Some really helpful reviews of an unreleased fragrance. As usual.

Andrea2012

I have the same experience as ImAddicted. I wrote a negative comment about Mon Guerlain, which was deleted the next day.
I think that opinions should not be filtered, otherwise we cannot be guided by them. I would be happy to see more funny comments, even if they are negative, like the first ones here.

perlindvall

Is anyone even making male perfumes anymore?

minh3050

I like how people are so quick to jump into a conclusion about a fragrance they never smelled before. This site is about reviewing fragrances, not business decisions. Can we at least wait and then judge the scent based on its own merit?

If this is on the same level as Neroli Outrenoir, then I'm more than happy to have another neroli on the catalogue. Please don't disappoint us, Mrs Jelk.

Not_So_Perfumy

Oh dear, I'm laughing my a$$ off reading the comments below. 🤣
The 3 first comments are gold, especially the 1st one!
I'm loving the drama!

mo choudhury

Tom Ford and Guerlain are my two all time favourites. and I just love how they keep upsetting the fragrantica connoisseurs. 👌🏾

ImAddicted

Funny how Fragrantica´s criteria to erase negative messages is biased...I made comments about a new Tom Ford flanker yesterday that sounded just like the ones here and my message was immediately deleted.

andrewatic

Oh God, not another one!
These mediocre fragrances keep reproducing with the speed of light. Ms. Jelk, please take a break…

Mr. Beaux

Well, it seems Guerlain has transformed into a cow-machine producer of, in one hand, Aqua Allegorias for poor/standard people that want to smell like a toilet freshener, and on the other hand L'Art & La Matiere collection with messy and cloying concotions prized around or over 300€ to please the new riches from Oriental countries. And that's all, folks.

A_Ferrera

Another one?! Guerlain has been pumping out these new releases with very little thought...and where is Wasser? Chained to a pillar underneath 68 Champs-Élysées?
